Description

"It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God"
(Matthew 19:24)

You don't need to be rich (or a Camel) to find this Cache, but you will have to pass through the Eye of the Needle!

There is a very peaceful park with amenities for a break from the road if you are passing through the area. It is only a few minutes drive from the New England Highway.

The walk to the cache is not long but is quite steep. Small children would probably need help climbing the last section at the top of the ridge. (I had to carry my Dachshund Rami, but he loved the rest of the walk!)

You will pass some interesting examples of Conglomerate Bedrock similar to that seen at "The Washpools" but vertical!

There are steep drops and slopes at the top of the ridge but the cache is not close to them. There are some great rock formations around the kids will love to explore but keep them aware of the steep edges.

After you find the cache you should continue back past the top of the "Eye of the Needle" on to the lookout for a great view over the valley. You can see the end of the Hunter valley from here. Over the ridge is the start of the Darling River catchment.

Found It!
A short but steep walk up to this amazing spot! Great place for a cache, I never would've known about this spot otherwise! Always nice to find a 18 year old cache with the original log book to!

This was the find of the day. I never knew this park existed let alone this fantastic bushwalk. I climbed up through the narrow slot, that was fun, and made my way to GZ. Wow, a huge ammo can that has been here for ages with so little finders. All in good condition mind you. The views were stunning today, low level cloud hung over the valley. I really enjoyed this so much, and would never have known about this had it not been for your cache. Didn't take long to get back down and I was soon heading to the local cafe for a coffee.

a bit of a bush bash through a trail that looks rarely used, to find an ammo tin in perfect condition, not found since September 2017. TFTC

We specifically came out this way for the Eye of the Needle walk so was glad that there was a cache up the top listed on GCA. What a great walk up here. After finding the cache we continued on to the excellent lookout and then further around the cliff top walk. Great rock formations along the way and we even came across an echidna back down near the park. TFTC

We absolutely love getting the GCA caches so after getting the GC cache at the parking area Mr Beetle waited with the van while I headed up to look for this one. It wasn't an easy walk through the eye of the needle but I got to the top and looked at the GPS to find which direction I needed to go only to have the low battery flash at me, and then the damn thing went flat straight away. I blame Mr Beetle for buying cheap ar*e batteries!!! They hadn't been in there long at all!!!
After checking my new phone and not being able to find a GPS on it I rang Mr Beetle and told him what had happened and that I was coming back down. He met me about two thirds of the way down with new batteries but I guess I'm not as dedicated as I thought I was as I decided not to head up again.
Loved the walk though, loved the massive tree roots flowing down over the rocks and without the GCA cache at the top I wouldn't have contemplated the walk up there.
So we'll have to come back another time to complete the mission here. Thanks.

This is our fourth cache at Paradise Park. Previously we've found a GC trad and 2 moveable GCA caches - and every time we visit we can't believe it's not being overrun by crowds wanting to see some awesome nature. The Eye of the Needle is well worth the walk and when at the top the views are amazing. We can't understand how it's is not better known. An outstanding place for a cache, thanks Damo. Clapping

Heading up the New England Hwy and I spotted this cache hadn't been found since Jan 2011 some 3.5 years. Took the detour to Paradise Park which I'd never heard of in all the years of driving through here. Took the great walk up to the Eye of the Needle past the most impressive conglomerate rock features I've ever seen. Walked to the lookout to the left first before returning and bushbashing to GZ. Found nothing but then checked the logs and looked a little bit further around what appeared to be GZ and made the find. An ammo can full of stuff. Signed the log but had nothing to trade. Brilliant spot, never would have found it without geocaching. Can't believe the local tourist authority doesn't publicise this place.

I'd recommend coming in from above GZ as it's a bit of a low wallaby track if you come in low.

Thanks!

Whoops! Forgot to log this one but it was one of our favourites for our holidays. Blossom* made me climb up and back several times before she led me to the vicinity of GZ where we found the cache. What a fabulous park, such interesting rocks and hidden away here for just the select few to discover.

This was our first caching stop for 2011 Very Happy Fabulous place. We found the GC cache first and then walked up to look for this. I decided it was off a side path on the way up to the Eye of the Needle but we thought we'd walk to the top and the lookout first which went well, although quite a steep little climb. And what a great view Very HappyClapping

Then we made our way back down to the side track and headed off to look for GZ. mmmm. Seems it's up higher actually Embarassed So we climbed to the top again and then looked around a bit and found the correct GZ Very Happy

This would have to be one of my most recommended caches Dancing

This was a fantastic area, the walk up to the eye and the hill above was special.

This epitomises what geocaching should be about - a wonderful location for a picnic & a great walk in the bush to a large & well stocked cache. There were quite a few muggles enjoying the warm afternoon & the fitter ones making the climb. The landforms were amazing & the eye in the needle a narrow squeeze. Left 2 polished stones - unakite & blue howlite. Thanks for sharing this secret place.

What a great cache. I was a little worried at how long it had been since the cache was found but decided the walk sound great anyway. The walk was a little easier than it sounded but was great.

The cache was not hard to find once the GPS pointed to the right spot and the cache is still in excellent condition after 92 weeks.

The views are spectacular so I did the extra walk to the lookout.

Thanks Damo.

After packing the little Rats off to their grandparents for the weekend, Mrs Rat woke up this morning and decided we would go and see The Burning Mountain, something we almost did a couple of years back, but were stopped at the begining of the track when we realised it was not stroller friendly.

After completing the 2 caches there, we figured we could squeeze in another hours worth of travel etc before heading home, and came to find this cache.

After trekking up Burning Mountain earlier today, the steep walk to this cache had us almost buggered, but we managed to thread the needle and get to the top to find the cache. The Needle part of the track is very different, and I would hate to be caught in it in the wet. I could just imagine it turning into an instant and possibly fast creek very quickly.

the cache was found without too much drama, and what a well stocked little beauty it is. We had already left our best swaps at Burning Mountain, which was probably a good thing as there was little room left in this ammo box. Eventually Mrs Rat took some hair ribbons ans we left a fart bomb and a carabiner.

Headed back down to the beautiful, tranquil and well looked after picnic area, had a quick rest and went off home.

An excellent cache, thanks for the fun.

What a great little walk up the hill. Well worth the climb

Thanx for a very nice cache

Stopped by to replace the cache container with a small ammo can and add some swaps. Previous finders had been fair traders so the cache is pretty chock full of stuff now.
I haven't been on the walk after so much rain. The path was almost a stream in some places and the rocks were a bit slippery. Not usually a problem!

Found as part of the itinerary for the Upper Hunter Camping ‘n’ Caching Weekend.

This was a really nicely stocked cace so I left a whistle. Great walk to the cache and really nice views of the surrounding countryside.

The "team" had afternoon tea in the picnic area below before moving on.

Nice area for a cache, my tips is to follow the path to get the the cache, do not take the most direct route, although I proved it is possible with some stubborn effort and scratches!

Took deck of cards, left electrical tape.

Much steeper walk than I expected. Easy find but well hidden. Left some toys and took the emergency blanket. The views were good, even with partial cloud cover(mostly beneath). Thanks for the cache.
