Description

Snuva LOVES going on caching camping trips around the state, and some of her favourite camp sites she originally visited hunting a cache. This moveable cache is designed to get us exploring different areas of fun in the Bay of Fires.

Although not all cachers enjoy camping, we all seem to appreciate places of beauty.

1) Find the cache
2) Move it to a new location
3) Post the coordinates of the new location with your log
4) Also mention in your log if this area is a good camp site, fishing hole, swimming area, etc. I.e. what makes this area worthy of a GCA cache.

However, please only move this cache in the Bay of Fires area (between Anson's Bay and Binalong Bay). Multiple finds are allowed as each time you find this cache it will have been hidden in a new place, however you cannot find the cache if you hid it. (We'll let your conscience be your guide.)

This cache is a traditional container and has the usual goodies! Photos are encouraged.

This geocache appears to be MIA so to stop it clogging the search lists we'll archive it. This is done to keep the geocaching Australia clean and up to date.

If the owner can confirm it is in place the listing can be resurrected by placing an "Unarchive" log against it.

2 years without a find and the GZ is a very high muggle area. Hard to believe its still there. Think

Back out at Swimcart Lagoon. Never been here before but a pretty spot with a lovely sheltered camping area, very calm even on a day like today. (mr sharnie's tribe said it's windy enough to blow a dog of it's chain.) Only down side is that you can't take the vehicles right up to the camping area so would have to carry all your gear about 100m.

A quick find when we got a chance to look! The first time we visited this beach there were a couple of families between us and GZ so backed off and came back later. TFTC

Placed out before returning to Hobart after our stay at Binalong

On a trip to Binalong Bay our hope of accumulating the maximum planned caches was thwarted by a day of almost nonstop rain, but fortunately the second full day was fine and gradually improved ending in a lovely sunny afternoon.
As well as us we also had six helpers and this came in very handy with a couple of them being quite enthusiastic.

At the time we were looking for this cache it was at Grants Point which is also a cache site of the same name, so it gave us a double hit. The hint and GPS led us to the GZ and it was Mike among the 5 of us to get there first and grab the container.
As we were all staying in a shack near Jeanneret Beach that seemed to be a good spot to drop of this one.
It is nice outlook over the beach and although there is a camp site not far away. I am sure Snuva would think it a nice place to sit with her little child.

Moved to another great camping location on the Bay Of Fires. This is an excellent spot for walking with numerous alternative destinations available.

A wonderful day on the East Coast - clear blue skies, warm and a gentle breeze. A great day for caching. This was a quick find. The container was partially full of water but the log was dry inside its clip-lock bag. We dried everything out before rehiding the cache. Thanks Snuva

Found on our first camping trip for the season. Dancing The weather not that kind though good hide great views.we have moved it along a little but not that far.it is located in the old caravan park area near where the toilet block was,and what a view from the dunny doors it must have been Embarassed

We chose this location mainly for the view not sure if you can swim safely but the water looks inviting. A short walk from the car park will have you at GZ. Some rocks to climb just to add to the overall experience.

This cache was very lucky that we came along we searched and searched but GZ didn't match the hint so broadened our search area looking for a single tree found one but it was 40 metres from GZ looked anyway and woo hoo there it was - out in the open and scattered around under the tree gathered up the log book and container and lid that was all we could find. Will dry out and relocate tomorrow. TFTC

Found the cache at 1447hrs and moved it to the above co-ords. I have camped here before and caught heaps of Australian Salmon surf fishing off the beach. The camp site is flat, next to a picturesque creek with great views off the beach. You can find the cache at the base of a solitary tree under a rock. TFTC and cheers OldSaint.

Hi Snuva
Found and logged this cache at 1447hrs. How good were the views here!!! Moved the cache to an area in which I used to camp further around the bay. Great spot and views. Cheers OldSaint.

Found the cache and put a sticker in it but decided not to move it as we needed to head home. The cache is still in excellent condition and has a great home here. Thanks.

Stopped as this was on the way to Sloopys Spa Bath.
There is evidence that someone else has been here before us and we were unable to find the cache on this occasion.

Put it back out on 14/4, but not logged until 22/4, - Sorry to waste your time Swampy, I should have logged at St. Helens Library whilst over there.
Decided to put it out at the Day Use area at the end of the bitumen Rd. at The Gardens. Not a terribly exciting view from the car parking area, but a short walk takes you to a lovely area of sand dunes and rocks, perfect for......whatever.

12-Apr-09
Found whilst on a week long Easter break camping at Dora point with the family. Decided to check out all the camping spots along The Gardens Rd. for future trips, as we had never ventured up there. There are some great spots, but my favourite looked to be at end of Sloopys Reef Rd - sheltered, pretty and not big enough to get really crowded like everywhere else seemed to be!
Thanks Snuva.

Hooray, finally was able to find this one, it's never been in the place that's been convenient for a find for me! It was quite a tough job trying to pick a good spot for this cache, so I just decided to send the next finder up the Bay of Fires. I was tempted to take it to the top of Mt. Pearson, but knew it would languish up there!
Thanks Snuva, an excellently themed moveable.

back out and should be easy to find (but a hint is there anyway.)
When I was here yesterday the area had heaps of families on jet skies, kayaks and small boats, so if seemed an appropriate spot for this movable.
Thanks for the cache Snuva

Found the Troll after climbing all over the bridge looking for Grant Us Peace. Easy find after that challenge. Replaced on the way back home - bit unimaginative but a good photo opportunity - a bit of an icon. ** The Troll gets an extreme makeover **

Hide is "standard troll"

Must try that.Cheers

Well, its next time now and just because SNP say there were muggles camped on top of it doesn't mean they can't find. Cache blindness is their problem, I think.
Moved to another location but not to where I camped. Too many trees, not enough undergrowth and sooooo close to the best toilet facilities along this beach camping area. The cache is now closer to those but has been hidden VERY well. Snuva may like to make this a 4 star difficulty cache....
Thanks Snuva

camped right next to this one had a couple of looks for this , had some muggles on other side . it could still be there but i'm not too keen on trampling around on these fragile environments , especialy with witnesses but i think they were still asleep and with the posibility it may have gone . great camp site thanks snuva

Stray Kate and I had a look for this on the morning of a wedding we had further down the beach. Muggles camped right next to GZ so we did not spend too long looking lest we looked suspicious.

Did not did not find. Cache is probably there, but we couldn't get to it due to muggles camping on top of it.

Time was against me (as were the boulders) but I didn't find it. Resigned myself to the fact that it had probably already moved, but the logs aren't now indicating that, so I guess just a no-find for this little black duck.

Didnt bother to check maps before I left home. Thought I knew the rough area it was in. So hopped on Xavier and cruised out. Pulled up fired up GPS and it said I was 135km from the cache?!?!?! I looked around...thought to myself that the bay of fires kinda doesnt go that far...so I changed some numbers in the waypoint and presto! 4kms away Smile

A quick squirt back around to bildabong bay and I had the cache in my gearsack ready to be rehidden!

Loved the sign near GZ...dodgiest warning sign ever!

Rehidden in one of Diggers Swimming holes!

I'm quivering with excitement...a movable that HAS to stay in my local area.....I'm in love!

I've had 1 too many beers to take Xavier Jah out for a blast tonight and get it but you can be asured that it wont last past lunchtime tomorrow!
