Cathedrals in Australia - Holy Trinity Cathedral, Wangaratta
The cathedral church of the diocese is Holy Trinity Cathedral, Wangaratta. The foundation stone was laid in 1908 by Bishop Arthur Green, the Bishop of Ballarat, and was dedicated on 24 August 1909. A second section was built between 1922 and 1924. The building was faced in locally quarried granite to a design by the English architect Walter Butler. The baptistery, designed by the church architect Louis Williams, was completed in 1965. cathedral interior
The cathedral bells, cast in 1806, are the oldest ring of eight in Australia. The current organ was built in 1902 by Henry Willis & Sons and is the fourth instrument to be housed in the cathedral.

We've been at the Rutherglen mega, and headed this afternoon to Bendigo, we didn't have alot of time, so prioritised trigs and virtuals, and maybe any *really* cool DTs for the trip. A bonus virtual with our trig!

Wangaratta Mega trip Day 2. It has taken quite some time to get this trip going so it is a great feeling to be on the road for a great weekend away with great caching with friends and new friends. Today was a day in two parts. I spent the morning with Nibbletricecakes, Gliss! & Smitten Granny doing as many of the city LAB caches as possible. So much variety there. We did a few of the caches we came across along the way. The after noon we were joined by Fitzy_1965 & MinnieK and headed down to Glenrowan to do the Ned Kelly caches. We also did the labs in Glenrowan before heading back to Wangaratta for a few high D/T caches. This was a great way to spend the day before the Mega !

We're caching in the Wangaratta area today trying to find as many GCA caches as possible in our limited time here. This area was very quiet and peaceful today even though it's in the middle of town. TFTC
So many caches in this town but today as we passed through we only had time to grab a couple, mainly GCA's of course.
Drove past this church on the way to grab the nearby CORS but stopped on the way back past to grab the required photo.
A beautiful church but the tall wooden bit attached to it looks a bit out of place.

I drive past this cathedral quite often bus this was the first time I didn't have passengers on board and was able to stop for a quick photo.

Stayed over in Wangaratta while on our way to the snow fields in Jindabyne. Travelling from Perth via Adelaide, Melbourne and Canberra. I managed to find a few local caches in the morning before heading off to Canberra. It was a nice brisk morning for a quick walk from the motel.

Whilst in Wangaratta for an event yesterday, I took the oppportunity of having my photograph taken in front of this magnificent structure. I was blessed to have been able to be present at my cousins ordination as a priest here, several years ago.
It is just as marvellous viewed from the interior.
Unfortunately the photo was taken in the wrong light, but I hope it is good enough.

#GA2229 - 14:50; Passing through Wangaratta on the way to Melbourne with the geoteen when we stopped to investigate the location of the local CORS. Once that mission was successfully completed, it was a short stroll over the road to add this cache to the day's tally. Another lovely old building to add to the album. TFTC Team MavEtJu

As we were passing through Wangaratta today we stopped to take a photo of this cathedral. We had to wait for a break in the rain before we could take our photo.
It is an interesting structure with what appears to be a miss matched bell tower.
