Description

This monument celebrates the humble beginings of what is now a Billion Dollar Industry.  Western Australia`s early fishermen worked hard and often in dangerous conditions. They helped create an internationally respected modern industry and gave Fremantle much of its character and charm. There are two life-size bronze sculptures of fishermen, a map of the coastline showing traditional fishing grounds and a short history on the industry`s history. Twelve timber columns on the jetty carry the names of the 608 fishermen who pioneered the industry at Fremantle.

To log this cache, you need to answer the simple questions.  Photos of you or GPS at the monument is perferred in the log but not manditory.

After a meeting in Fremantle today I had time for a quick wander to grab a few caches. Very Happy

Out and about caching and taking photos for the day. House sitting over here in this beautiful state. Always a great way to explore areas. Lovin' life, coffees and caches, waymarks and photos, taking the roads less travelled, letting my GPS be my guide. Does it get any better than travelling this great land of ours? Dancing

What a beautiful area to take a stroll (and quite a few photos).

Thanks for the History Cache Team rudi63. Appreciate you highlighting this area and bringing me here. Clapping

Was in town for a few days for work from over east. The Jetty area is an absolute favourite place to visit and was stoked to find there was a history GCA cache here to round it out.
Logged the answers and now logging it as found.
Thanks Rudi63. Now to search for a little creature not far from here!

I couldnt log this one in the field as I couldn't get the questions on my mobile... anyways, I photo'd everything and was able to get the codeword once at home. Cheers.

I was fortunate to have an RDO today and thought that I could head out and grab a few GCA caches this morning. I targeted a few virtuals and some Trig points that had been on my to do list for far too long. Cheers for the cache!

A quick visit today with SWMBO and a grandchild - our first here with him. A great day also (morning only) for being out and about as well, though while we ate fish and chips inside it bucketed down for a time before the rain went away for a spell. Thanks to rudi63 for this Virtual Cache.

So much history around town but sadly don't get to spend enough time around Fremantle to enjoy it all.

Good to see recognition happening around town

I am on a day off and decided to get out and get some caches while it was cool. Headed to Kings Park, Nedlands and then onto Freo to grab a few here. Rudi it would help if you put the questions in the description as they do not appear in the cache description when using the app. I had to switch to the internet to see the questions which not everyone can do. Thanks for the cache rudi63. Very busy here today. Would not want to be here tomorrow. Too many muggles getting photos here I think it was a bus load of tourists so unable to grab a photo. Had to push my way through them to get to the sign.
Oh and i can claim ftf for this cache.
