Another spot for a selfie

We are still on the big Isle after attending the Clear Waters Mega at Queanbeyan and stayed in Tamworth for a few days. Goodness, the things you see in the main street. We thought a virtual cache at this spot would be a good idea.

At GZ there is a giant Golden Guitar.

Taken from plaque 

"This golden guitar stands as a tribute to the original golden guitar, which was designed as a trophy for the Australasian Country Music Awards when they started in January 1973.

In contrast to the trophy which is 22 cm high, this golden guitar stands 12 metres high. It is a faithful replica of the original, which explains the absence of strings, while the original is cast in bronze. This golden guitar is grafted from fibreglass.

A list of the winners of golden guitars reads like a who's who of Australasian Country Music, with Slim Dusty having received the most awards over the years. Thus it is appropriate that this golden guitar was officially unveled in January 22nd 1988,by Slim Dusty MBE"
