Canberra Regional Cachers - let's get together to celebrate 20 years of Geocaching in Australia.

Lane Cove was hidden on the 18th May 2000 which made it the first geocache on Australian soil. To help celebrate the 20th anniversary of Geocaching in Australia, the 2020 team at Geocaching Australia have worked together to create the 2020 Game of Games rewards which are 12 monthly games based on finding and hiding geocaches at Geocaching Australia.
See details about the game at :
https://geocaching.com.au/dragonzone/game/

Geocaching Australia has minted a special 20th Anniversary 2020 Game of Games pathtag to be made available as a reward to participants who qualify each month and are randomly selected to receive the reward.

To qualify for March and go in the GCA draw for the specially minted pathtag you simply need to:

- attend and log an Attended log at an event held on 28th March 2020.
* the log date must be the 28th March 2020 and the log must be made in the game month*

So, get together with other Geocaching Australia cachers and ensure your Attended log is completed before the game period expires.

DATE: Saturday, 28 March 2020

TIME:  5pm - 5.30pm
The meeting will start at 4.30pm for any cachers new to Zoom and want to check that they can access the meeting

Tamworth and Amrmidale Trip March 2020. Day 7. I headed north with Fitzy_1965 along the New England Highway towards Tamworth. This was our final day, and we headed home from Armidala all the way back to Goulburn and Canberra. We still found a GCA along the way.

Whilst we were driving homr Fitzy managed to connect to the ZOOM meeting and we both said hello and listened to some of the introductions. It is a very different form of social gathering.

Thanks
Albida

Well this was ceratinly a little bit of fun.

Zoom is a totally new experience for me.

It was good to join in and have a laugh.

28-Mar-20
It was great idea and success to hold the meeting this way. We were on the the go finding some caches (with Dino) and could easily participate say hello and listen to the discussions afterward till the end. Worked really well even over 4G. Thanks Kittykatch for organizing.

28-Mar-20
Great to see so many people from so many states without actually leaving the house. A great event and a very novel idea.

Thanks for hosting this virtual event Kittykatch Clapping

NIce to break out of isolation - the perfect event for the introverts. Thanks for a great idea KK.

28-Mar-20

Thanks for hosting a unique event Kittykatch.

28-Mar-20
Sorry I didn't make this one Kittykatch, I was driving and hadn't downloaded the app.
Was good to see you at the later Zoom event at 7pm though Smile

28-Mar-20
Now THAT was a lot of fun ! Congrats to KK for putting it all together, and well done to the dozens of attendees - I really enjoyed being part of it.

At first I was on the road where I could barely hear what was going on, but when I got home it went like clockwork. Looking forward to more of these type of events.

TFTVE !!

28-Mar-20
Thanks for a great online meet up! So lovely to meet you and hopefully one day in the not so distant future we can meet face to face. Will be in Canberra 25-29 September unless the s%&$ really hits the fan

28-Mar-20
Such a fun way to have an event!! Great to see everybody's smiling faces whilst we all manage the covid disruption. Thanks for making it all happen Kittykatch!! Very Happy

28-Mar-20
Watawieh from Norfolk Island.
It was great to be able to attend a geocaching event while stuck in mandatory 14-day self isolation.
It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces. Thanks to Kittkatch for hosting this event.

28-Mar-20
Thanks for hosting this unique event kittykatch. Attending an event while walking amongst the pines at the arboretum on a sunny autumn day - priceless. Smile

28-Mar-20
Wow I have just been to the best event ever and so cleverly done. A huge thank you and congratulations to KittyKatch for organising and publishing this novel event. It was incredible to see so many people turn up from all around the east coast and beyond. Queensland, NSW Vic Tasmania and would you believe it Norfolk Island were all represented. Thank you to all who attended to make this an event never to be forgotten. ClappingClappingClappingClappingClappingClappingClappingClappingClapping

Wow - my first virtual event! And so many people! Given that, it worked surprisingly well! It is hard to know when one can talk, so as not to talk over others, but still, it worked! Certainly very good for the current situation! I still don't agree with the silly locationless ones but! Razz

Thanks for organising Kittykatch!

28-Mar-20
A very quick visit while I caught 5 minutes between work.

A great idea, and would be keen to participate in more.

TFTVE KK!

28-Mar-20
Well that was a new experience!

Thanks for hosting what turned out to be a rather large event online.

Was nice to put some faces to names.

My first geocaching Australia event and first time trying zoom out
Thanks for the event KittyKatch

28-Mar-20
What a great event this was. So lovely to see everyone and chat in this trying time. Happy anniversary

28-Mar-20
Popped in for half of the event and it was great to see so many people online together. Bit hard to hear at times, but our host managed everyone well. Hears to more virtual gatherings. Clan Cerberus

28-Mar-20
Thank you so much for a wonderful event, it was great to catch up with so man6 interstate geocachers, even one from Norfolk Island.
Modern technology certainly shrinks the world. A great way to celebrate GCA’s 17th birthday
Even though we are self isolating it still gives me the opportunity to log my daily cache.
Gotta love Geocaching Australia.
Thanks KittyKatch, look forward to the next one.

28-Mar-20
Sorry I missed it. I had been contacting all the people from my team at work who have been made redundant to see how they were and totally lost track of time.
Hope you all had a good catch up. I'll try and get on No Tomorrows at 7pm

28-Mar-20
Had a tonne of fun with this event! In the midst of the crisis we're currently in, it was extremely refreshing to be able to socialise with a bunch of geocachers in Canberra and all across the country. Had some very funny conversations about a whole range of things; and enjoyed listening to everyone's introductions. Gives me hope that all will be okay for the next few months - TFTE KK!

28-Mar-20
My second Zoom cache for the day, and much better attended than the one at midday which only had 4 participants, though it was limited to people within 130km of Mittagong. Great to put faces to some of the names I only ever see on the GCA forums. And a good way to pick up a smiley in these times we are limited in how much we can go out. Thanks Kittykatch for hosting this one.

28-Mar-20
Well this was a novel GA event and the first video event I've attended. At was almost like a mini-mega event with participants from all over Australia joining in. All we need is some virtual pathtags to make it complete.
Thanks for arranging and wrangling KK

28-Mar-20
Well that was my first ZOOM event that I could actually participate in with voice. The other one I had to type. I think we made 29 participants.
Thank you very much for the conversation and it was good to meet new Cachers and talk to and see Geocachers I knew. Thanks for the awsome experience

Thanks for organising this event Kittykatch. It was great to be able to talk to Geocachers from other states while serving our period of home isolation. We also had our first go at using Zoom which worked well.

Thanaks again. Very HappyVery HappyClan MinotaurClan Minotaur

What fun... lovely to see some familiar faces from the Mega meetups, and to meet those I hadn't previously had the pleasure of bumping into.

Thanks, Kittykatch.

re my will attend log ... I won t be dashing in late after all (unless I am late because I am busy caching/didn't notice it was almost time to go there/whatever other disorganised brain fart makes me run late) turns out I had opened my diary at the wrong month, so I wrote it in for tonight ... the right date was still blank, so nothing (so far) that I have to dash from/to ... and I am at the thing I thought I would have to cancel ... aaaahhhhrrrrggghhh - my brain is fried ... I think I am trying to do too many things - lol

I also have something I was going to do at 6pm, in Civic ... but I can cancel that one if I have to - lol
