Description
Matilda, mascot of the 12th Commonwealth Games held in Brisbane 1982.
Since her starring role as the winking mascot of the Commonwealth Games, Matilda has been on the move. In 1984 she took up a prominant position along the M1 Pacific Highway at Wet 'n' Wild Water World at Oxenford on the Gold Coast. Matilda Fuel Services purchased her in 2009 for relocation to the Matilda Travel Centre at Kybong. A short move in 2020 and she now welcomes visitors to the Traveston Service Centre. With talk of Matilda's appearance at the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games the co-ordinates may need a hop back to Brissie but with 11 years to go it's a safe bet she'll be at the present location till then.
To log the cache you'll need a photo of Matilda along with your caching name. This can be in any form - on clothing, written on paper, skin etc.

Interesting but if history behind the statue. We wandered over and had a look but forgot the photo. With a light sprinkle and empty bellies the kids weren't keen on retracing our steps, so instead we got a photo from the brekkie table.
Thanks for the virtual cache!
Matilda’s looking pretty good considering her age. We actually saw Matilda at the Opening Ceremony in 1982. And have since seen her over the years at the various locations you listed above.
Thanks for the cache and memories Geono.
