Description

Wireless Woodland Wander

This cache was hidden during the Cacheopoly 2023/2024 game period and replaces a similar cache hidden in a similar method in a similar location that was washed away in the 2022 floods.

To find the box, you'll need to turn up near the listed coordinates, and start sussing out the SSIDs in the area - i.e. Browsing available wifi networks. One will look familiar to geocachers. You'll know where to go when you find it. The signal appears to be broadcast from the building located at 10 Keen Street.

At GZ, you'll be taken to where a forest giant once stood. GZ is only 100m or so from the wireless transmission, so you can easily walk if required.

A last minute change of plans had me in this area. I usually only search for trig caches when away from home but the GeosportZ game has me expanding the search options. This one had me instantly interested, not for the game, but because I want to eventually find at least one of each GCA cache type. This is my first Beacon cache find! A big smile when I discovered how this one is played Very Happy At GZ I marveled at the size of the tree stump, forest giant indeed. Thanks for the cool cache. All is in good order Smile

Me and the boys accidentally stumbled across this when looking at our works wifi. We thought the coordinates or for a possible drug deal or something silly, we went to investage and found the geocache and it has now sparked a fun interest for the work gang. We are looking forward to this new hobby and hunting down more caches Laughing 10/10 this was the highlight of our month easily.

I enjoy a beacon cache but I'm also not that savvy on how to get some working. This one was nice and simple and worked surprisingly quickly. Put the new GZ in and... what the heck, it's in the river. Shocked This is what happens when you do a combination of both the listed and corrected coordinates. The second attempt appeared in a far more doable location so we drove off to look for the cache.

It had been raining and everything was drippy at GZ.. me included with the first unlikely place I looked. It was never going to be there, it was in a much more accessible spot and I was soon signing the log. It would be good to use some of these recent finds for the Cacheopoly game but I haven't got my dice rolls in sinc. Wink Always happy with another smilie though so TFTC MattyRx.

I was out shopping with someone else's credit card and vehicle when the alert for this cache came in. So on my way back to HQ I had to drive by the given coords. I knew what to do, but also that as driver I shouldn't do, but did it anyway.

Now that I had the secret message I just had to wait till home time to make the find. And what do you know, it was on my route home anyway. Each time I drive by here I get mixed feelings from memories, but today I got to make new memories. I had a little wander around checking the bush out till the mozzies got too much so I then headed for GZ and made the find.

A cute little hidden spot here. Thanks for bringing me here and something to get me moving again in the Cacheopoly game, haha.

My grandfather invented the cold air balloon but it never really took off.
