Description
To claim this cache you need to get a photo holding a newspaper where there is an animal story on the front page-preferably the lead story. The photo needs to show the name of the newspaper along with the animal story, the date of the story, your gps and be taken outside a shop and of course the coords. A little bit about the story would make it more interesting.

These photos are taken at home after searching through the paper basket for something suitable. Never a problem as we get the Tasmanian Country delivered every week and 90% of the time the front Page is an animal story.
This is the issue from February 1-7 and the story about a chicken hatchery.
The other paper is The Advocate, September 28th, 2017 and the story about miniature goats.
Thanks.

Today's local newspaper the St George and Sutherland Shire Leader contained a front page headline about a lucky hen that survived a fox attack. Attached is a screenshot of the front page as we use the electronic edition now to save paper. Lucky the hen certainly was lucky being the only survivor of 18 hens in a fox attack at the St George and Sutherland Shire Community College near Jannali. Having encountered very large foxes while caching in Southern Sydney these sort of attacks, unfortunately, do not surprise me.
Thanks for the interesting locationless Corunnaroad

Bought on Sunday 14 Jan at the newsagent in Queanbeyan Riverside Plaza. Front page has a Kelpie from the Gold Creek Station in Hall and the story is about the resurgence of merino wool with $3billion of Australian wool sold last year alone.
Bought our local newspaper - The Pyrenees Advocate - on Friday 12 January.
There was not only Animal News on the front page, but very special Animal News for us, as we are endurance horse riders.

Today's Shepparton News had an interesting story about the new crocodile replacement for the old one who passed away. They have updatted the enclosure and made it more attractive at the Kyabram Fauna Park, for this new attraction.
Not on the front page, but featured prominently.
We have the newspaper delivered daily so the photo is not taken at a shop

On the front page of The Mercury, Hobart's newspaper today, 3 January 2018 is a story about eels. Apparently a lot were eaten during the Taste of Tasmania. Will use as part of the States of the Nation games. As I no longer get the hard copy of the newspaper, the photo is a screenshot as I subscribe to the digital edition. Coords are for near my home. As I read my local newspaper online I was able to trawl through back issues until I found an animal story. I skipped the usual Melbourne Cup and "lost dogs" type stories and settled on a story about a good friend.
Kelly is very well known in my town. Every year Kelly dresses up in her Christmas coat and parades around her front garden entertaining the thousands of visitors walking and driving along her street to see the whole street lit up with Christmas lights. We visit Kelly's house every Christmas Eve and sit in the carport watching the sightseers as we indulge in a few cans of Christmas Cheers with great friends Sparrow & Maree and other fellow fire brigade members.

This is a bit of a tragic story... and unfortunately it is ours! Our cat was missing for three weeks and was found, near death, caught in an illegal trap on a residential property. I have attached a snippet of the online article but the full story can be found at http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/4166965/Missing-pet-found-in-illegal-steel-trap

The story on the front page of the free Monthly Newspaper that is published in Nanango Qld " The Country Focus" on the 7th February 2014 was promoting the country show in a small town in the adjacent area. Cooyar. The story is about a man who has horses and cows and a couple of dogs that do demonstrations that involve climbing onto the back of trucks and caravans etc. I have seen this show and it is very good to watch as there is a lot of training that has been done with the animals to make them jump thru the motions that they perform. Been looking out for this one for the past few days... and today The Mercury in Tasmania posted this story about 2 white lion cubs born 5 weeks ago at Zoodoo Wildlife Park in Richmond, Tas. They are asking readers of The Mercury to help decide on what they will be named! Their parents, Bakari and Kiara were both born in 2010 and were named in the same manner.

Not really often that you can buy a newspaper in this area and find any animal news making the front page. Just recently there have been a few but usually a long time between stories.
This story was in the Toowoomba Chronicle newspaper recently. The story is on page one and on page three. It is in regards to the Council thinking about a ban on dogs in some of the major visited parks used by tourists and local alike and the amount of time, effort and money expended by council on cleaning up after dog owners who do not clean up after their dogs. One part of the story that saddened me was comment from one gentleman who stated that if he had to clean up after his dog he would not be able to enjoy his daily walks. How Sad.

This story was front page news on the 16th OF August 2013 in the South Burnett times. The gist of the story which was on a full page on page three was about a pet store owner who now refuses to hold and sell puppies due to a small number of puppy farms in the area.
The front page is devoted top the photo and the headline.

The above co ordinates are those of the Newsagency where the paper was purchased. A bit difficult to take a photo in front of the shop holding the paper and the GPS and the camera. Not too many people around at 6am in the morning and the newsagent was reluctant to leave his shop to take the photo so he didn't.
The story is basically about Graziers in drought stricken Northern Australia being allowed to graze their cattle within Queensland State National Parks as one third of Qld faces deteriorating drought heading into winter, as graziers struggle to keep livestock alive on parched paddocks seared by last summer's fires and failed wet season.
The story was in the Queensland Country Life published Thursday May 23rd 2013.

The main paper in Melbourne The Herald Sun ran a dog story on the cover.
Little Toto a jack russell somehow ended on an island in the middle of the Murrey River after a recent mini tornado.
The locals in Bundalong want to think that just like the movie little Toto was whisked in the air and landed smack bang in the middle.
Did he fly or swim???
Well only he would know!!!

"High Stakes Party" was an article on the front page of "The Sunday Tasmanian" on 10 February 2013 and related to the Hobart Cup which was held the following day.
I wasnt able to meet all the crtiteria so Im happy to change this 'find' to a 'note' if requested to do so but I found this a pretty amazing find.
While holidaying in Bali last week I picked up the International Herald Tribune (The global edition of the New York Times) you can inagine my shock when on the front page I saw the headline 'DEADLY PUZZLE SAVING DEVILS N TASMANIA'
Being a Tassie cacher I was blown away to think we made the front page of an overseas paper. The date was Wednesday the 23rd Jan 2013 and my GPS is in the picture. The hotel I was staying in provided the complimentary newspaper so the coords are for Nusa Dua, Bali where I was staying.
Naturally I did some other caching whilst there but this one was too good to pass up.
Thanks for the cache Corunnaroad

This was a front page story in North-West Tasmania's "The Advocate" on Jan 2nd. It continued onto Page 3. I just thought of it today, and when I sorted through the pile of newspapers it hadn't been thrown out yet. Sorry, I didn't get a photo outside a shop, let me know if that disqualifies my find.
The story was very sad as three rodeo horses died from the overwhelming number of stings they sustained in what seemed like a crazed attack by the thousands of bees. Vets and other people who gave input in follow-up stories all agreed it was a highly unusual incident with no apparent explanation. All efforts were made to save the horses to no avail.
No happy ending for this one other than a smiley for me for re-telling the story. Thanks.

We noticed that the front page of The Examiner on Friday 11 January 2013 featured a lead story about the marked increase of tiger snakes being found in the Launceston area. The most common snake in the area has been the Copperhead (7th most venomous in Australia) but now tiger snakes (3rd most venomous) are being found at regular intervals. Snakes coming closer to residences in search of water in the very dry conditions being experienced is believed to be the main reason for the increased sightings. The photo added to the Gallery contains two images: the first is of one of us with the newspaper outside the shop where the paper was purchased; the second image is of The Examiner banner and the lead story.
Did you the one about the python that hitched a ride with Qantas???
No. Well, it was on the front page of todays SMH....and the attached photo's are of the article, a photo of the poor snake on wing...and a cartoonist's take on 'Special' meals. The flight was from Cairns to PNG. The article is / was all over the interent news services as well.

Hi corunnaroad
Recently the Royals visited Tasmania and visited the small town of Richmond.
Prince Charles visited a local farm, Leenavale Sheep Stud at Pawleena near Sorell and his picture is shown on the front page of "Tasmania Country" dated Nov 16-22, 2012 with the property manager, Brent Thornbury.
In this pic, your get three types of animals; the humanoid, a dog and sheep. The Tassie Devil gets a mention in words too!
TFTC and cheers

De-Sex Your Cat. The WA state Govt has brought in laws to ensure cats are desexed, microchipped and registered.
Brilliant Law! Who said Govts are useless money gouging monsters.
Anyway, when i logged on yesterday and saw this new locationless i had a good laugh, then today when i saw the front page of the local rag i nearly wet myself. How good was that.

Saturday's "West Australian" featured horses and their riders, just before a futile bayonet charge by four lines of the 10th Light Horse Regiment across a narrow strip of land on Gallipoli known as the Nek. It took place on August 7th 1915 and was recorded by war correspondent C.E.W. Bean
