Description
Find the location of Girl Guide Associations
'Girl Guides have a unique distinction in that they founded themselves' - Robert Baden-Powell
At the first Boy Scout Rally held in London in 1909 Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of boys Scouts, was surprised at the number of girls who insisted they wanted to be Girl Scouts. He agreed that something was needed for the girls and in 1910 the Girl Guides Association was formed.
From as early as 1909 girls in Australia were forming guiding groups and by 1920 Girl Guide Associations had been formed in sis states. In 1926 the State Associations federated and formed a national organisation. Over a million Australian women have been or are still Girl Guides.
To log this locationless cache you need to find the location of a Girl Guide association. Please include a photo, co ords and any information about this Girl Guide location.
Logs
I went through Guides in my teens, and am a Queens Guide!
A great organisation.

VICTORIA
I was in the area doing an Adventure Lab when I came across this building. It is used for both Girl guides and the Scouts. I am sure Baden Powell would be pleased.
VICTORIA
This building is used by the Reservoir Girl guides as well as two other Scout Groups. It is fenced off at the time of my visit and would appear that it is undergoing major repair or refurbishment.
TASMANIA
I was in Howrah today to attend an event then I left to find a nearby cache when I noticed this Girl Guide sign. It would appear that they meet in this community centre.
Mangrove Mountain, NSW
We have spent a lot of time at the scout hall just around the corner from this guide cabin, but have rarely visited it unfortunately. It is an awesome spot, set on a large bush block with a bush walk path leading to a waterfall.
The cabin itself is large and well suited for a number of games and activities.
Maybe we should organise for the scouts to head over and explore the grounds with the guides one day.
i was in the area after a photo for another cache and found this Guide Hall. Ah well I'll accept this one as a freebee.
I was on my way to a CITO Event at Ulverstone when I saw this Girl Guide Headquarters on the main road. I took the required photo on my return journey.
I am very familiar with it as I was a Brownie Guide Leader here for 25 years, and both of our daughters gained their Queen’s Guide Badge here with the suppport and encouragement of wonderfully dedicated leaders.
So many memories as I drive past it.
Thanks for bringing them back to me via this Locationless Doodle Bug Oz
The unit where Miss Shifter started as a Junior Guide in 2006 and she is still involved. This is also the unit where Mrs Shifter was a leader.

BOWRAL, NSW
Bowral has a cute little Girl Guides hut which has been here for many years. I always wanted to be a Brownie or Girl Guide when I was a youngin' but mum wouldn't let me. Maybe it was because it was a popular thing back then. Sadly you don't see the Brownies, Guides and Scouts around as much as back 30 years ago .
A quick stop for a happy snap passing through this morning
There is also a scout hall close bye.
Took a quick snap while driving thru the area.
No one around today.

This Guide hall is in Huonville, Tasmania located near the Huonville Recreation Centre.
I used to attend Cubs here a long time ago; then went through Scouts in the same hall.
It has always been a joint use facility, used by the Brownies and guides ever since I can remember.
Thanks for the memories.
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint.
The area was deserted today which made it easy to grab the required photo. On a Saturday morning this would be impossible as the netball courts are next door.
My mum is a retired guide leader but she still attends the Trefoil Guild meetings held in this hall. My sisters and I went through Brownies and Girl Guides many years ago but attended in nearby Somerset. TFTC
There are still a lot of active girlguides groups around the area here. Although being a scout myself I do not know much about this hall.
Beach Road, Shellharbour NSW 2529

Our Mission is to enable girls and young women to grow into confident, self respecting, responsible community members.
Our 2015 Aspiration is to be Australia’s leading organisation for girls and young women in leadership and personal development.
Spotted this hall on the way home from the Stanthorpe Mega...so hit the brakes and grabbed the photo. Another new-ish locationless crossed off.
Thanks DBO.....and great to meet up at the Mega.
Saw this hall Girl Guides in Tamworth NSW after found a GC cache nearby.
Thanks Doodle Bug Oz
Located in the Darwin suburb of Parap and meet regularly during school term times.
Main Street
Ulverstone
We are very familiar with this Guide Hall as our two daughters were very active in the movement, one working her way through to the Queen's Guide Award. Our daughters were members of units which were very active outdoors, with camping and hiking high on the list of preferred activities. They learnt so many life long skills. The contribution made by volunteer Guide Leaders to the community is immense and is appreciated highly by many. The photo added to the Gallery shows Mrs y'stassie (a former volunteer leader) outside the Central Coast Guide Hall. Thanks Doodle Bug Oz for this locationless.
Lithgow Girl Guides Hall
Young Street
Lithgow, NSW
I drive past this Hall from time to time, while geocaching, but have never seen any activity there. But perhaps I'm on Young Street at the wrong time of day.
Will try to find out more, and will then update my log.
