Description
Find and log art galleries around Australia
We already have virtual caches for a couple of the biggies (National Gallery of Australia and National Portrait Gallery) but what about all those galleries that promote and display art work of all sorts around the country?
Many regional centres have their own gallery or cultural centre and cities can have numerous public and commercially run facilities. They often serve as an important way to showcase that areas local artistic community and bring travelling exhibitions to folks who may not get to see these piece otherwise.
Beyond galleries I will also accept ceramics and glass workshops and sculpture gardens as long as they display a variety of work and have changing exhibitions over time.
To log this cache:
- take a photo of the outside of the art gallery with the name of the gallery showing
- take a photo of a piece of artwork from inside that gallery that appeals to you and tell us why (if you are allowed to - check with the gallery before photographing)
- note the coordinates of the gallery
You're welcome to log as many galleries as you like but none retrospective to the publishing date.

Greenoaks Gallery features the work of artist Dan Villiers, who works in a wide variety of styles and mediums. Pastel, watercolour, acrylic, drawing, and encaustic painting are some of the mediums. Dan paints scenery, flora, fauna, and people from all over Tasmania. There is an extensive range of original artworks displayed in the gallery.
The gallery was closed when we visited, have added a pic of painting displayed in the window.
Thanks for the cache.
This is the Art display on the front verandah of the Bunbury Arts Centre.
Thanks for the Locationless Cache
Found earlier this year while picking off some virtuals!
NERAM located in Armidale NSW, is renowned for it's valuable collection of Australian Art. It is custodian of three important collections - the Howard Hinton Collection, the Chandler Coventry Collection and the NERAM Collection. Mosman's Bay by Tom Roberts is thought to be the most important painting in the Howard Hinton Collection......and because it is so important it's often travelling the country and not on display but we knew where to find a print to take a pic! No where near the class of the original but you get the picture.

I went there last night to see my sons girlfriend ,Ophelia Roberts, exhibit some of her work as well as other local artists.
She uses a Stippling technique to produce a great visual effect. Of coarse I like her art the best.
Currently there is an exhibition of art (paintings and stained glass windows) by William Bustard (1894-1973), a Brisbane artist.
I love the way he captures the colours and light in this particular painting of Castle Rock in Townsville.
Thanks Ziggiau - we really enjoyed this exhibition.
One Photo from outside, one from inside of HRH Princess Mary of Denmark...Aussie girl who became a princess...and one that tells the story of the painting.
Thanks Ziggiau.....a good time was had with this one.
Had a trip to Tasmania's World Wide famous museum MONA, Claremont, Tasmania the other day.
MONA equals "Museum of Old and New Art"
The art forms here vary a lot and the ones photographed are my favourites.
The "Water Fall" has water falling from the roof, forming words as the water drops. BRILLIANT!
The "Bubble Car" is one persons dream but will never make the road.
"NAGASAKI" - Art associated with the dropping of the bomb during the Second World War.
Outside, "The Trucks" - fastidious.
TFTC and cheers

Waradah Aboriginal Art Gallery
Echo Point
Katoomba, NSW
Visited here today with Mrs. pjmpjm and enjoyed the exhibition downstairs. I liked the painting best that showed the 'spirit figures' . . . picture attached. The ancient Aboriginal people had great visions. I don't think this picture shows any kind of ancient astronaut.
Didn't see any signs forbidding photography, but didn't try for too many shots, just in case.
And, of course, the gallery couldn't have a more spectacular position, with excellent views over the Jamison Valley.
I like these pieces because of the colours, the amount of work that has gone into them, I know the area and many more reasons. Wagait Art Gallery is only open once a year but well worth the drive out to see the work produced by the people who live there. Thanks for the new locationless.
