Description

Take a selfie with Marilyn

Marilyn Monroe remains one of the most celebrated and enigmatic film stars in history, she transformed herself from ordinary girl next door, Norma Jeane Baker into a glamourous and universally-recognised screen goddess. The Bendigo Art Gallery is hosting an exhibition which brings together authentic artefacts, clothing and other objects belonging to, or worn by Marilyn. More than 20 original film costumes from some of Marilyn’s greatest films such as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,How to Marry a Millionaire and Love Nest feature alongside numerous dresses and accessories from Marilyn’s personal wardrobe.

To complement the exhibition they have erected this Seward Johnson’s eight metre high sculpture and muggles have been having a great time photographing themselves with the statue, now you can too.

A most excellent virtual cache at this location. Just the sort of thing that Virtuals are made for. We took a few happy snaps and they will accompany our logs for out find.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks The Morris for this cache here today.

Early this morning we used the virtual caches to guide us around parts of Bendigo. The mixture of sculpture and historic locations was very interesting, a tour we thoroughly enjoyed.

Norma Jeane certainly dominates the centre of the city and is in stark contrast to the more traditional architecture in the immediate area. A photo of Mrs y'stassie with Norma Jeane has been added to the Gallery. Thanks The Morris for the cache and the series.

Rather than drive to Melbourne for a meeting I decided to take the train from Bendigo. An early start gave me a few minutes to grab a couple of FTF's, and Norma Jeane was the first. Being quite early in the morning there were very few people around. If I'd had a friendly helper I may have stood in the windy spot to pose for the photo. Dancing

The Wench has been wanting to take a look at this statue since it made the news a few weeks ago. Well, she's not happy that I got there before her. She'll just have to wait for another trip to bendigo Whistle

Thanks, Robyn, for this virtual and for the chance at a FTF.
