Description

Find a "No Through Road" sign!

This cache recognises those moments when you are out caching, following your GPS, thinking you are just about reach GZ for that 1/1 cache, only to find the ubiquitous "No Through Road" sign when you have a few hundred metres to go before you actually get to that easy drive by, and realise you have to back track to find the right road in as there is no access along your current route.

If you have had that experience, you will know what I mean.  If you are yet to have the experience, take a snap of that least favorite of signs, along with any accompanying street name sign/s and post the photo/s and the coordinates, along with your story of hopes dashed to claim this cache.

Lake Augusta Rd, Liawenee, Tasmania

On our way to an earthcahe in the area we spotted this No Through Rd sign. Lucky for us it was not on the road we needed to be on.

Whilst chasing some new caches in the Lancefield and Tooborac area we were stymied a few times by roads that showed up on my Cachly map and on the Garmin, but no longer exist as public thoroughfares.
This one petered out to a locked gate and shows nowcas only a fire access track.
We are finding this more and more as we geocache our way around the countryside.
But we did see a lot more beautiful scenery because of it.
Thanks for the locationless LuckyL 10n

Hi LuckyL10n
Was on my way to find GC7H682 "Arve Falls" and tried to take a short cut that I'd never been on before
That dreaded sign came up; had to turn around and go the path I knew
Sainted at 1055 hours
TFTC and cheers

We were in Campbell Town (Tasmania) and heading to look for "GC6Z1GB Jakob's Cache" on the northern bank of the Elizabeth River. Our Garmin GPS directed us to drive along Queen Street and proceed directly to the cache. However when we got to the junction of Queen and Glenelg Streets we were greeted by a "No Through Road" sign. Luckily the detour was minimal and we went south on Glenelg Street then into King Street to get to the cache. The composite image added to the Gallery shows to images: our GPS showing a direct rout from the intersection to the cache; and a photo of the "No Through Road" sign. Thanks for the cache.

Logging a note, not a find - I photographed this "No Through Road" sign today (see pic) whilst walking through Redfern, Sydney, NSW. But it in no way hampered my progress, so now that I am reading the cache description properly I feel I didn't meet the criteria. I suspect it won't be long until I genuinely get bitten by a 'No Through Road'. Twisted Evil

Surprised the sign was grubby, needs a bit of Mr Sparkle by one of our friendly council workers.

We were driving through downtown Exeter, Tasmania looking for an elusive cache and came across the dreaded 'No Through Road' sign. Thankfully it pointed the way to carpark where we left the geomobile. Picture attached. Thanks LuckyL10n for organising the locationless cache.

Heading to a cache in Waikarie, only to find the road that was on the map as going to the area, is now NOT going through there. Pondered what to do a split second before turning around and trying again...and to then see the 'No Thru Road' sign. A good example of No Way Jose.....

Thanks for the locationless LL...

How hard can it be when right across the road from my current assignment there is a no through road. Very Happy
Thanks for this cache here today which, being at sea level (technically) means I can claim it for the Summer Scavenger Series.

Driving along Nanango - Brooklands Road if you are chasing a cache on the south side of Nanango then most GPSr devices will want you down this street ( Mc Ginley Road) to access frank Brown Road. NO Way. On paper the roads join but stage two of this 15 year old development never went ahead so the roads do not join. On our way to Coomba Waterfall we thought we'd take the shortcut.
