Nelzarama and I stopped here as we both love a cemetery cache Interesting and informative information board. Our GPS was bouncing around a bit making the find tricky but we found it after reviewing other logs. The log is signed and the cache has been returned as found. Thanks for the cache
Driving through the Danseys, Kubabelle and I stopped here as we love a cemetery cache. The information board contained a range of interesting information as well as a very sad story of some young boys. The cache itself was a difficult find as my GPS was indicating elsewhere and it wasnt until I read some logs that I got a clue at where to look. Ive not found a cache located this close before so it wasnt a place I would usually look. The log is signed and the cache has been returned as found. Thanks for the cache
I'm ditching dad again and heading down south for the Mega in Dunedin. During this trip I managed to do many things and meet many people over the 2 weeks I was away. Thanks to all the cache owners and other cachers for making this trip enjoyable.Day 4 of the trip. Todays adventure is Danseys pass. A great lot of caches but I struck a large hurdle towards the end of the day with not only 1 but 3 punctures. So had to get into dunedin via a 2hr tow truck ride. A nice quick find. TFTCAll logs on this trip were signed by any of the following:Taybee NZ,TBNZ,TNZ,TB/D (When I was out with mother)
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I live full-time in our caravan travelling around NZ, visiting the places we want to visit & doing the things we want to do and fitting in a bit of Geocaching here & there we are/were staying near Ranfurly in Central Otago for a couple of days we decided yesterday, that today would be a drive to get the Virtual at the Danseys Pass Hotel & then some caching in & around Naseby but we wanted to clean up a couple near Waipiata, Swinburn & Kyeburn this one had us going in circles for a bit, till we realised that there was more than one grave with the Surname we were chasing then it was an easy find, the logbook signed, and then safely/securely replaced as it was found were pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:LS this was #6,266 for us!
Spent longer here than anticipated, reading the info board. Such a tragic story about the boys
TFTC interesting wee stop, had a friendly farmer stop by and have us some more places to visit and some local info
Thanks for the coffee and cache. Interesting to see the graves of the 3 killed in the avalanche- first such deaths recorded in NZ
I tried to download for offline the other day, but it failed. Oh well, I'll just wing it.
This was the first I couldn't find as had no reception.
My phone went ping, ding, beep, and twang at the top of the Danseys.
I checked hints and looked at previous finds of a couple i couldn't find, then realizing there was more than one McCreadys.
Claimed the find on my return journey to the top and back, and had that doh moment.
Thought of the times i used to have a cuppa with Nana.
Thanks

Parked up and strolled through the cemetery. Honed in on a likely hide but nope. Re read the cache, circled round n round the McCreadys then spotted it. Cool cache, all good and dry tftc
Coconuts3 and I visited McCready, had a chat and enjoyed the container. Really made us smile.TFTC A fav.
We are having a lovely day trip on Danseys Pass with busy paws. Lunch packed and ready for a big day. Found this place very interesting and enjoyed a wander round. We had a chat to McCready while checking his coffee. Thanks for this cache which gets a fav from us, Moneydork.
Amazing area - Kens Grandad use to own the Dansey Pass Hotel so this is a memory trip - TFTC
Found today on our way back from grabbing the oldie at Dansey's Pass. Interesting old cemetery

Beautiful day out exploring the danseys, title made sense once founds thanks for the creative hide
Easter family adventures. After a night in Timaru and a morning bike through another section of the A2O we were now heading for Danseys Pass and Naseby for a few nights. With family in tow and needing to get to Naseby there were far too many caches through the pass to get them all - so just stopped at a few. This was one along the way - thanks. Love a good cemetery especially one with history. Thanks.
Not a bad spot to be buried
at I reckon. Beautiful day, the road open until just past the pub then still closed from the recent massive floods. Clever hide.

Found on way to Danseys Hotel on another wet day. Always find cemeteries very interesting. TFTC.
Took a minute or 2 for the GPS to settle but soon had the goods in hand. Tftc
I started my great and unique round trip over the South Island in Christchurch.
My first major stopover was at Lake Tapeko - here I hiked up to Observation Mountain.
I then planned two days in Mount Cook NP with some unforgettable hikes. My big goal was the Mueller Hut - on a super strenuous hike I reached it.
I continued my journey over the lonely Danseys Pass to Dunedin.
Afterwards I drove along the Southern Scienic Route via Invercargill to Manapouri for some days. On this route I visited many sights and enjoyed the beautiful nature again and again.
I already booked a tour to the Doubtful Sound in advance - another highlight on my tour.
Afterwards I drove on to Queensown and Wanaka. From there I continued over the Haast Pass to the lonely Jackson Bay with storm and heavy rain. Afterwards I drove along the west coast always in pouring rain.
The rain stopped the whole west coast, but I had good rainwear with me. Only high up in Nelson the sun shone again.
Soon I reached the east coast again in Picton and Blenheim and the sun was shining again.
After a few days I travelled back to Christchurch via the beautiful town of Kaikoura.
At the end of my round trip I spent a few more days in Christchurch and its surroundings.
I visited many geological sites and found many caches on my round trip. In Rangiora I visited an event.
I travelled 3418 km and take home a lot of positive experiences.
Thanks to many beautiful caches I was also shown unique locations, historical sites and geological features.
I am overwhelmed by the fantastic and ever changing nature on the South Island of New Zealand - I will definitely come back.
Many thanks to all owners

It was a toss up what to do today... GCG9HV Deep Creek as an unfound date on my Jasmer grid looked like a bit too much on my own, with the possibility of not finding the cache, or Fill a hole in my Fizzy Grid.
Fizzy grid won and I found a local cache unfound for 699 days as a bonus. Then I remembered the Danseys Pass old Virtual and a nearby Earthcache that is another Fizzy grid combo, and so a day's road trip was the plan. As I’d come over the pass from Duntroon, this cache was at the *end* of the road trip - but not the end of the trip. Google Maps suggested I return to Waimate via Danseys Pass, but I thought that was silly - so continued “ahead number 1” - only another 2.5 hours to go!
It’s been a stunning day. Beautiful up there, with just a hint of a breeze but 27C here.
TFTC All good here.

Out for a days geocaching with Aussie Pete. Left home at 8am and got back 12 hours later. Travelled through some wonderful back country, esp over the Dansey's pass. If you believe in Murphy's law then he was one step ahead of us all day. We had a wonderful time finding and exploring. This resulted in an unexpected tumble down a hill, a number of scratches and bruises and a few holes in a hand where I grabbed some grass to steady myself only to discover I had grabbed some hidden barbed wire. This is what geocaching is all about. A fun filled day with a good mate. Thanks to all the people who took time to hide the caches.
We have been to 2 cemeteries recently. Both had people cutting the lawn when we were there

Boneybruce and I are stranded south of the Rangitata with both bridges closed, so making the best of a bad situation and checking out some back country I've never been through before, but had my eye on for some time. Nice little hide here, after a drive over the Danseys Pass. GPS had me wandering about a bit but once I was close, I noticed what I was meant to. TFTC!!!

Decided to make a trip to Duntroon over the Dansey Pass. Lots of logs to find and sign and this one was one of them. TFTC
Found with StreetWalker on a big day, starting in Duntroon at about 8:30am, and finishing in Clyde, via Danseys Pass, nine hours and 62 caches later . A fantastic trip with great views and interesting places.
We read the interesting info board just outside the cemetery before looking for the cache. Really sad to read about the tragedy on the nearby mountain.
Lots of McCreadys in residence here. Cache was a quick find. Thanks for bringing me here and TFTC.

Taking a mini-break to celebrate a significant wedding anniversary. As we had a joint wedding with Grapea it was a joint anniversary celebration with Grapea. A great opportunity to grab some caches as we travelled. Tftc
11.00: On the way up to Danseys Pass for our four-passes-journey over to Fairlie. No[|)], not as easy as expected when we approached at the cemetery. It took some minutes to find the right site and another one to find the cache then. Very interesting interpretation boards beside the road. We gave a coin for the conversation of the cemetery.
Weather: cloudy, 18°C;
Wheelchair: most likely no, steep paddock/embankment to climb, within calling distance from the road;
State: all good, cup in good shape.
Thank you!

Found this one while exploring the area before heading to Dunedin for a few days. Cool old cemetery! Thanks for the fun cache! >^..^
Heading to Danseys Pass to find the virtual cache. Along the way we are stopping for those caches that catch our eye. Nice to read the history, and enjoyed the fun container. TFTC
I'm from Norway, escaping the cold winter and travelling around New Zealand for 7 weeks, using geocaching as my tourguide. Today I drove from Glenavy to Dunedin over Danseys Pass. I really really enjoyed this powertrail, the scenery just got more and more spectacular the further I got!! It was a good place to have a powertrail, there were hardly no cars, and the caches were hidden in spots where it was easy to park the car. All the caches were quickly found with good hints, that's the way I like powertrails to be. I only had dnf on two caches, that's because I didn't allow myself to spend time searching if I didn't find it instantly. I would never have known about this pass if it wasn't for all the caches that showed up on the map, so thank you sooo much for placing and maintaining them. I really enjoyed this drive. I'm adding a couple of favourite-points on the caches I liked the most. Thank you for all the caches!
Enjoyed this cache a lot. Read a lot about the McCreadys on the information panels out front. Made for interesting reading. I had a laugh at the charges - sure wasn't cheap to be buried here back in the day. TFTC Moneydork # 11,491

Geofest Oamaru is over but our (The Seagnoid, Toby, Zara & I) epic adventure continues - Day 4 Danseys Pass - another 'must do'. The weather is drizzly, so its raincoats and gummies for the day.
A quick visit with McCready, but not coffee today. Snagged and tagged another one. Cheers

The Geofest ended yesterday, but Taybeedragon and I are still going strong. It was raining. Again. Rather than get walking or cycling somewhere, we are getting wet driving Dansey's Pass, the slow way.
Interesting signs here, especially the one about the cemetery chargges.

With a small amount of drizzle we were able to still visit many caches and see areas we have not yet visited, thanks for the placement we have enjoyed each cache and where is has brought us.

Woke up in my stone cottage Airbnb in Ocean Grove to find that it had yet again rained overnight. But the dawn was crisp and clear so another day to look forward to with dry shoes and socks. If it carries on like this, I would have packed extra shoes and my wet weather gear for nothing. But I’m not complaining, I’m utterly sick of all the rain we have had over winter in the Manawatu.
Heading from Dunedin through the Pig Root to Alexandra for the day. Very excited, I did spend a lot of time driving this route when I lived in Oamaru and it is one of my favourite parts of the country.
I was a little apprehensive about the drive up the virtual at Dansey's Pass, but the drive from Naseby up to the hotel is very good. This was on my way back to Naseby and a quick find here. TFTC

More details on find later - editing now close family funeral over. On the journey with Ruru_NZ and we both enjoyed the coffee with McCready. Love how these rural cemeteries show the history of the area and what the names are of the prominent families.
Day 3 of my Oamaru GeoFest week. Naseby to Oamaru today.
Expecting dust, dust and more dust.
Found McCready, and shared a cup of coffee with him, his wife and his daughter.
Peaceful place, I'd rather be up on the hill than down on the flat. This cemetery is still in used with a burial just last year.
Felt for the families of the 4 young people, 3who lost their lives while attempting to save the youngest.
Thanks for the smilie.

We arrived in Dunedin today and traveled to Oamaru for the 2017 Geofest through Ranfurly, Nasbey and Danseys Pass. We attempted many caches throughout the long hot day and as it was the Geofest we bumped into fellow geocachers as well as a few muggles along the way. With Gap (of Fap and Gap)… Our journey to the bottom of the South Island has been almost two years in the planning. We were determined to make it to Oamaru Geofest. We decided to also factor in completing a couple of missions (JASMER and Virtual challenges), and the wheels started turning...
Day Three: Arrowtown-Haast-Naseby
We were determined to get as far along the Danseys Pass Road before turning back to Naseby. This 'dirt track' was scary if you allowed yourself to dwell on it. I would hate to cross here in winter or bad weather. But obviously many have made this trip and survived... Now this was slightly creepy... But we did it. TFTC.

Planned a bit of a trip up Dansey's from Ranfurly to get a few caches. But halfway up decided to go all the way over and back via the Pigroot. Unfortunately I was unprepared and hadn't stored all the caches along the route. I also didn't have the GPSr/phone charger. Many were therefore missed but a great day was had. Thanks to the COs.
This was a very interesting place. I enjoyed the signs.

Thanks for the instructions, the GPS was wandering all over the place but then we spotted McCready and sat down for a cuppa!
The second weekend of planned caching trips for Chelzea and I. This one started caching near Temuka and then on down to Timaru, Oamaru over Danseys Pass and then back to ChCh from Palmerston the next day. Long and winding trip in places but managed a good number of caches with only a few DNF's. Too many to remember in detail so sorry for the cut and paste logs but thanks to all the owners it was a great two days of searching new places for a good variety of caches.
Sunnroller and I were out doing the Westward Ho! series when this one popped up on the radar and it would have been rude not to do it. So we signed it off.
Cheers for the cache.

What a Mega Mission for a group of Hamilton Over Achievers! A great trip, a long time in the planning. I teamed up with Cats&Dragons and HKCB to grab a couple of caches while in Christchurch and surrounding areas for the 2015 Mega Event. We flew out from Auckland on Friday night and traveled to Dunedin in the dark of the night. Stopped for a few hours sleep before setting off to grab caches in the Otago area on Saturday before attempting a few more on Sunday and then arriving at the Mega on the Monday. An amazing, yet crazy road trip
An interesting old cemetery. GPS took us a little way out and it wasn't till we widened our search area that we spotted something interesting. A closer look and we were rewarded with a cuppa. Thanks for the cache.

Headed down south with C&D and 11HPG11 for the CHCH Mega as part of the HOAC team, and decided that a Mega road trip/Mega Mission was the right thing to do. We landed in CHCH late Friday night and after picking up the rental car we bee-lined it straight to Dunedin to grab a few hours sleep before the mission truly started.
The goal for today was to locate a certain few geocaches which help for certain challenges that we are all currently working on, and to explore some pretty cool country, before getting to tomorrows starting point in Omarama. We thoroughly enjoyed this day of the mission and saw some pretty awesome places, and managed to achieve most of what we wanted. A big thanks to everyone for placing all the caches, and I apologize in advance for the copy and past logs!
Back on track after a bit of a detour and with enough gas this time to get over Dansey's Pass. This was a awesome road to drive, unfortunately I had to concentrate on the road more the than awesome views. We had big plans to complete the full trail over the pass, but had to stop after about 20 caches in as we were running out of time. So will be happy to come back and complete. Thanks for the trail.
GPS was bouncing about, but eventually HPG located McCready and we shared a quick cup of coffee.

This was the start of a MEGA caching weekend in the company of good caching friends. In the company of both HKCB & 11HPG11 this was going to be another memorable caching road trip for many reasons.
After driving down from Christchurch last night, sleeping in the car in Dunedin , and getting a good early start this is the practice day for the planned mission for tomorrow , thats not to say we are not taking the day seriously, but there were roads to travel, views to see (so unlike what we were used to in the Waikato) and of course caches to grab.
All in all it was going to be a big day with a number of challenges, great sceanery, and of course great company. Fantastic driving along and up here as the landscape was so different from what we are used to back in the Waikato. One good thing about backroads being that we could continue our neferious activites without being disturbed by muggles.
Having left Sutton Salt Lake behind and now Ranfurly we were continuing our journey.
Back at Naseby we were winding down the day and making our way across Danseys Pass heading for our night stop some distance away.
Nice quick find here without any issues .
thanks for the placement , thanks for the cache
