Beautiful views complete with a rainbow that photobombed our shot. Such a beautiful place. Left a travelbug we collected at a Geocaching event recently.
Today we headed out to walk Cape Raoul. It was a bit chilly but much calmer than yesterday which meant perfect walking conditions. The track is in top top condition. We really enjoyed the walk to the lookout at the end of the Cape and also down to the Shipsterns lookout. 4 caches found on the walk, great packed lunch and the rain held off, perfect. TFTC
Nice walk to Raoul lookout and then on the Shipstern Bluff and Tunnel Bay. We had to walk past the cache first as there were people sitting near it, but on the way back it was clear and the cache was quickly found. All OK here. Beautiful views to Cape Raoul. TFTC!
Exactly one week later i'm back on the Cape Trails again and this time its Cape Raoul (the Lookout) then Shipsterns and a strange - rounded seat in between on the lovely cool and still day of Wednesday 13 March 2024.Parked the GeoMobile in the carpark and registered myself for the walk (Grabbed the 1st part of the needed numbers for Stage 2 of the "Cape Raoul Tour" Multi, then was onward and upward for a half-day of exciting views and Caching [^]Got to the lookout and was still catching my breath Wow!! What a ripper view... in both directions. It was at least 10 minutes taking in the views and taking pics before i even looked for the cache ha ha such was the lure of the beautiful scenery, it just wouldn't let me go When i managed to tear myself away i quickly found the booty and sat myself down nearby to sign the log.(I felt something land on the back of my hand but thought nothing of it till i was stung... Ouch! those Jack Jumpers are definitely Miltary Grade insects, an Ant with Attitude!! Like a Gorilla with a Migraine Lucky for me i'm not allergic).Signed the log at 10:35 and returned the cache with no Muggles about.TFTC Tas_Community
The flies are crazy down there, I had to go quickly with this one! Easy find TFTC
Our NEW ZEALAND - TASMANIA - AUSTRALIA JOURNEY takes us to beautiful places and provides us with an incredible number of wonderful moments and experiences.Occasionally we also visit a few GeoCaches along the way.We hiked to Cape Roul on this beautiful summer's day and signed the guest book here....Thank you for placing, maintaining and caring snapfish2 from SwitzerlandPS: Translated with the Deepl app
I have walked out here many times before becoming a geocacher and this is definitely my favourite cape walk on the peninsula. I haven't been for quite a while, and now there is a new, much needed carpark and the track has been upgraded. It's such a nice time of the year to come here - all the wild flowers are in bloom. Couldn't help notice how dry it is though - most unusual for this walk. We were inspired to come today because 3 new caches were published on various parts of the track. The Roadies had already found this one, so I was on my own. Made a quick find (thanks to RoadieM's GPS), log was signed and we were on our way to find the others. Thanks Tas Community for maintaining this cache.
The last caching day of the for me and while this walk want quite what i hod hoped for it was still a good day out with a few fellow cachers. We somehow managed to pick the worst day to be down here it being rainy and very windy just about all day.As for the cache it was an easy find and was in good condition, we did dry it out however.Found on 30/12/2023 at 14:13:00 thanks to Tas_Community for placing this cache for me to find. A great walk with great company today out to Cape Raoul look out. It was an amazing walk and we even managed to spot a few of the last Sydney to Hobart yachts making the turn towards home. The weather was showers on and off, but this kept the walk easier to do than a really hot day.TFTCFavorite point given
Today Mr W went for a walk with a rat a goose and a budgie. Great views from the lookout, and he even spotted a couple of Sydney to Hobart yachts in the distance. It was extremely windy and wet but an enjoyabe day out with good company. Lots of people out and about on the track despite the conditions. TFTC
After all the sunny days we had to pick a shocker to come out here! The wind was howling and at times the rain was sideways, and occasionally the sky cleared briefly before the next squall came, but we found the cache! I have been wanting to find this cache for ages and finally SSR and I agreed to do it today. Our full car included budgietas and Mr Whitewebbs too. We first walked to the Shipstern Lookout where it was quite hard to stand up in the strong wind, then back to the junction and onto the Cape Raoul Lookout and this cache. We would have loved to walk out to the Cape Lookout at the end but today was not the day for it. It was just too windy wet and cold A good day out - it would have been a great day if the weather played along. Thanks pjamesk for the original hide
I am in Port Arthur to see the sites, and to collect caches. As well as going to the lookout (and getting the cache) I also walked the entire way to the cape.It was well worth it, for a wonderful view of the collimated rock cliffs. The distinctive pile rocks at the GZ was a clear indication of the cache location. The cache container was intact, and the plastic bag for the log book was fine, yet surprisingly the log book was still quite damp (yet I was able to sign the log book).
A very nice hike which was only missing a bit of sun as there was solid cloud cover. We went all the way to Cape Raoul. Saw an Echidna just before the first bench and managed to spot the seals from Seal lookout. The cache was easily found and is in good condition.TFTC!
Wow. Just coming back from the long walk and thought we’d check cache status. Glad we were only at lookout and was close by.
On our way around Tassie for 3 weeks. About halfway through and after spending a couple of days in Hobart we are now heading to the Tasman Peninsula.
Hadn't planned to stay at Lime Bay campground but it was a nice spot so spent a couple of nights here. Forecast wasn't good so we headed out to Cape Roul early and the weather turned out fine for our walk. Enjoyed the views and the walk
Cache was in good condition

I have finally collected the third of the three capes, and on a glorious day with spectacular views. I had set off relatively early and so had the track to myself for most of the outward journey, which made it easier to hunt for the cache after enjoying the scenery near GZ. After signing the log I continued eastward, and enjoyed lunch overlooking Cape Raoul's classic crags. There were more people on the track on my return journey. Thanks for cache, pjamesk; nice to add a smiley to the day's accomplishments.
Quick find after catching our breath from a bit of a climb to the lookout
Great cache in a spectacular spot.

A tiring walk but worth it at the end! The view from each lookout is amazing, with plenty to marvel at in between as well. Thanks pjamesk and Tas_Community. Favourite point for the views.
Our kids are finally old enough to look after themselves for a few days, so with my wife having some holidays coinciding with their school holidays, we took the opportunity for a quick 6 day get away tour of a few carfeully selected areas of Tasmania. After spending rime in Richmod, Bruny Island and Hobart, our final destination of the trip was the Tasman Peninsula.
The primary reason for visiting the Tasman Penisula was to complete this hike and check out options for an extended family visit in February next year when we are booked to complete the nearby Three Capes walk.
The hike out to Cape Raoul was planned to try burn off some of the excessive food and drink of the past few days. We managed an early 8 am start (early for our holidays anyway) on a chilly, blustery, overcast morning. After completeing our details in the logbook at the trailhead, we didn't get very far on the climb to the lookout before we both had to remove a layer. After a nice long stop at the lookout to catch our breath from the climb, take a few photos and enjoy the view, we stopped and grabbed this cache on our outbound journey. This was an easy find, with accurate coordinates precisely as per the hint. Pleasinglly, the container and logbook are in excellent condition.
From here we continued out to Cape Raoul on very well maintained trails (puts our home state of Qld to shame). We took our time, stopping regulalrly to photograph the flora and fauna and marvel at the impressive geology on display all around. The weather alternated between an cold overcast blustery gale to a still calm and back again. But we were well prepared (there is no such thing as bad weather, just poor clothing choices!) We finished the walk in about 6 hours (with about 90 minutes stopped) without a single drop of the thrreatening rain.
This walk to Cape Raoul is an easy highlight of the trip. Worthy of a Crooked favourite point. Many thanks, pjamesk.

Sincere thanks to deercheetah for replacing the old wet and mouldy cache.

Found on our way out to Cape Roul.
Fabulous walk.
We replaced the cache container and log as the old container was mouldy and the log book saturated.

After a long amazing trek, got this on the way back, sadly log was soaked, so unable to write on it,
Fog is so thick, can't see a thing but still a surreal experience. Log is far too wet to sign.
Great walk, amazing views. Couldn't sign log, totally saturated. Took travel bug... will move it on. TFTC
A stunning walk today with the Gusty crew. Exciting find for our junior caches. Lots if treasure in here. Very soggy cache so signed a yellow sticky note pad. Lunch with the crew
Absolutely spectacularly amazing views! As others have said, the cache is quite soggy. I tore off a piece of paper which I put in the lid that might have room for a few more logs, and I also made the lid point upwards to try and minimise any water falling onto it, but it will probably be soggy soon anyway :/

TFTC. The views were better on the way out.
Unfortunately log is completely saturated.

WOW location! Unable to sign log as cache is fully saturated and me without a spare or snap lock. Will return soon. TFTC
Found, log is saturated and container is very wet inside, unable to re it’s our find. Still heaps of swaps available.
Found it! Next person who comes, please bring a fresh small notepad and a new zip lock bag.
A nice walk & stunning views. The walk was far more popular than we thought it would be, especially with the supposed lack of tourists due to COVID-19 border restrictions (although the rego plates of the parked vehicles suggested otherwise!). The cache was a nice & easy find - it's a shame we didn't bring a maintenance kit with us though as the log was particularly soggy. TFTC!

Our first hike in Tasmania and we really enjoyed it. We went to cape Raoul and met a lot of pademelons, parrots, lizards and one echidna. Thanks for nice cache and greetings from Slovakia!
Today, it's the second day of my trip in Australia and in Tasmania.
I've planned to hike 2 capes tracks today. Cape Raoul and Cape Hauy.
In the morning, I've done Cape Raoul. The weather was foggy, a little rain and sometimes some sun.
The trail was amazing for my first in Australia.
I saw some wallaby's, not a lot of people on track. Certainly because I was early.
In the afternoon, cape Hauy. Less longer track, great views too. Much people on this track.
It was warmer but still some clouds and a little rain sometimes.
For this cache I've done it on my way back from the cape.
I tried to be careful where I put my feet and my hand when I found the potential place.
Hopefully it was not difficult to find .
It's my second tradi in Tasmania and Australia.
Thanks for the cache near a beautiful lookout !

We found a travel bug from Germany! Stunning day, clear, calm, wonderful part of the world. Sadly no big swell so we can't watch surfers at Shipstern Bluff.
Walking from our accommodation we made the last minute decision to change our planned hike- instead of straight to cape R we set out for tunnel rock. Track deteriorated quickly and ended up a desperate push through dense scrub to the beach. Literally full on I’m going to die scary where the hell are we the beach isn’t visible off track.
What a relief to feel the burn of a very sth hot ascent from beach to lookout.
Be on the lookout as you walk to lookout for snakes... 2 encountered on the way here.
Tftc, nice to see a good swagged up container!! Added more goodies, took dice. Favourite point for me- what a site!! Plus the cache is an added reward for a hard days walk

TFTC found with rachb on an awesome daywalk to Shippies, left travelbug dog trackable as it was his mission to get to Australia
First time walking this track. Started early at 8am dragging the kids and were pleased to find the cache. Thanks
Found on the windiest and bitterly coldest summer day. Once reaching the lookout towards the end of the track, gusts were so strong, we had to resort to crouching down behind bushes! Sleet and hail came and went too. Brr
Once reaching GZ on the hike out, a quick find was made, first find for a muggle mate.
Thanks for the cache!

From 23.09 until 24.11.2019 Stadibast and I spent our holidays in Australia.
During the first four weeks we drove with a camper van from Darwin to Perth along the West coast and its amazing national parks, in which we made several hiking tours.
After that we flew to the wonderful green Tasmania for a roundtrip lasting two weeks.
For the last three weeks we went back to the continent and followed the South-East-Coast from Melbourne to Sydney.
We had impressive nine weeks in Australia, in which we hiked through various national parks, visited interesting sights and met many friendly and helpful people.
Thanks to all owners for setting and maintaining their caches.

Found it. Plastic bag containg log book is ripped. Might get wet in the future.
Found with the geo-crew on our way out to the Cape. A cold wet and lonely day on the track. Many thanks pjamesk
Came to Tassie for 3 capes walking tour. Today we walked around beautiful Cape Roul. Finding a cache here is the cream of the crop. Thanks for placing cache in these magnificent part of the world.
This one is about 400m above sea level and only about 6m from being in the sea if you step too far west ! Yikes. Found, even though the App shows it as a premium cache, whilst back at base it shows as a traditional open to all cache. Thanks pjamesk from gjamesk
Spending a week on the Tasman Peninsula doing some of the 60 great walks of Tasmania. We have done Waterfall Bay, Bivouac Bay, Cape Hauy and today it was Cape Raoul.
We have enjoyed this one the most. The view from the lookouts have been amazing especially Seal Lookout where we could see and hear the seals below.

#500! Glorious day for an early walk with non Bruce relations. Thanks pjamesk for this one
Thanks for the view. Tricky find as i I was looking for two trees but I see it as one tree with two branches.
on our way to cape raoul we found this cache, amazing landscape, thanks for hiding and greets from dresden, germany
Out for an early morning walk along this wonderful track. A bonus was finding this cache along the way. Happy new year.
Yaay! Another day, another cache. Off to hike to cape raoul today. Beautiful day for it too. Thanks so much for the nice find.
Just out for a leisurely stroll to get number 30 of the 60 tasmanian great short walks with a nice commemorative cache to top it off. Many thanks.
After sitting at the shipsterns lookout for ages we walked up here to see this amazing view. Well worth the walk TFTC
A quick find while on a walk to Cape Raoul. Have been several times before in the past but this is the first time on the new track. The walk seemed longer this time - age or maybe all the new turns and zigzags? Impressed that this cache, perhaps the first hidden by pjamesk, is still in place and in good condition. Thanks pjamesk.
Day walk out to Cape Raoul. Track has had a lot of work since we were last here ~15 years ago
