Well we narrowed it down pretty quickly to two likely objects. But how to get into them? After much poking and prodding and twisting we gave up and got back on our bikes. We hadn't gone far when I asked Donald if he had tried turning the less obvious part of one. Back we went and success was immediate. Great engineering earns a FP from us.
Thanks to the coach driver Matt who gave some clues along the way. Some really creative hiding in plain sight.
I am up home for the weekend in Echuca.. and just walking past this wonderful cache.. and smiling as I see it because I thought it had disappeared permanently. So glad to see it back.
Came looking last night and couldnt find it so came back this morning and got a hint from a local we had thought that might have been the case but couldnt get access. Will get our son to try again next time he is up this way.
Second day of the Great Victorian cache crawl, Skylizard and I set off early to complete some ad labs and traditional caches. Had been given a hint for this cache at dinner last night do was relatively quick find. Great hide, very creative. A favourite from me. TFTC
Out and about with TanSaf as part of The Victorian Cache Crawl. This morning we started the day with a lovely walk along the old port. The weather was beautiful, perfect for caching. This was a relatively quick find, we worked out what possibly the cache was hiding in on approach despite an amazing camouflage job, but couldnt gain access. After a while we eventually got to the log. Thanks Silver_dice for placing the cache and for community members for keeping it in play. A favourite point given
My plan for this weekend was attending most of the "The Great Victorian Cache Crawl" while collecting old geocaches, multicaches, and a tree climb for the adventure. Plus, whatever else caught our eyes as we passed.Of the old geocaches, it looks like we got...X2 2001X2 2002X2 2005X1 2006X3 2007Favourite caches of the weekend we were the 2001 caches. Not because they were old ones, but because the items at GC255F were completely unexpected, and the adventure at GC277B of walking over the flooded spillway and climbing the cliff in the rain was risky and therefore exciting. Overall, not huge numbers of caches found, but a great weekend adventure. Big thanks to Geocaching Victoria for organising the events and getting so many geocachers to attend. With Huntress off doing at 30 kilometre run with the dawn, it was time for me to grab a few bush geocaches, and the Murray River Park area was selected. After looking for 15 minutes, I was glad when some other geocachers who had found it walked by and put me out of my misery. Very well hidden. Thanks for the cache, Silver dice.Hunter
A VERY early morning search yielded the goods. But I have a feeling that one of our troupe (was it CeeJayDenno, PrezDough or JonnyGoldcoast?) was given a heads-up... AND we made the rookie mistake of no pen, but I attach Exhibit A - photo log. Thanks for creating this evil hide Silver dice and for maintaining gregandjudi. Cache on
I was in Echuca for the night while attending my first Great Victorian Cache Crawl. Its been a great weekend and finding this sneaky hide was one of my favourite finds. Luckily I had a little hint from a previous finder and had that WOW moment when I made the find. Definitely deserving of all the favourite points this cache has accumulated.
An early morning find here with PrezDough, LTEC, Jonny GoldCoast and myself.Armed with a slight hint, we still struggled as there were so many options. But soon enough, the cache unraveled itself and we were soon scribing our names on the log. What a fantastic construction and well done with it.A FP for this one.I visited 3 TB.TFTC.
Another group effort to discover this hide. Dinner is back on! The Great Victorian Cache Crawl makes finding fun and easy.Fantastic camo. Favourite awarded
Definitely a team effort here tonight. Stayed in Girgarre overnight before heading to Colbinabbin and Echuca for the Great Victorian Cache Crawl events. Dodging rain as we gather some smilies along the way. Thanks for hiding and maintaining this cache. ????
What a neat little hiding space! Well thought out and executed. TfTC! Now off for dinner with the rest of the cache crawlers.
What an awesome cache... very tricky to find especially in the dark..found with Cassy182 and others
Well bunadoorian and I were enjoying an ice cream when Crack'n'LeeLee came along and also got an icecream. bunadoorian commented on the trad around the corner with lots of fabourite points. We joined forces and. tackled GZ together. We were joined by Andyand Nel. After scouring GZ it was Crack from Crack'n' LeeLee who eventually found the cache. Thanks everyone for helpingbwith the hunt. A great cache. It was very quiet here this afternoon. TFTC Silver dice for placing and the community for maintaining this cache.
A big group were pointing torches at all areas of this as we approached tonight whilst we were seeking an answer to an Ad Lab. We joined in and it took a remarkably short time for Chunkn of ChooknChunk to make the findWhat a tricky one indeed.
Post dinner crack at this one to help jaamc_3335 tick this cache off the bucket list! With some help from our new friends; we were able to retrieve this super tricky well hidden cache! TFTC ??
Wow! What an awesome cache! I needed to PAF to help me with this one! I have been here on multiple occasions to no avail! But with Cazzajane07 tonight we managed to finally find it! A favorite point for me! TFTC
Who would have thought we would get a D4 at night. But when someone else races over with a clue about where it is, its quicker.
A D4, it was dark, one of us is vision impaired - no problem finding it (with some unexpected help ??).TFTC
We found this cache after arriving in Echuca for the 2024 Cache Crawl dinner event at the Echuca Hotel. We checked into our hotel and wandered over to this cache to find Bundoorian, WeirdoBiker, Grub62, and CracknLeeLee all hunting for the cache. CracknLeeLee was the one who found the prize. Wow, what a hiding space!TFTC. Very clever. Fave point awarded
*17 Aug 2024, Found @9:18PM, Find # 3871.*Touring around Victoria for the cache crawl weekend. We found this one after dinner. Definitely a think outside the box cache here. I can see why its such a favourite. I think it deserves another favourite point. **Thanks to Silver dice for placing this cache.**
Found with a group after the cache crawl dinner in the dark. What a tricky hide. Thank you Silver dice for placing and maintaining Port of call for us to find today.
Well we *may* have been given some vital information that narrowed down the possible hiding place of this one. This one is pure genius and pure evil combined. A fabulous hide - who ever would have thought of that?!
The cache crawl was on and this year apart from the Friday night dinner which I couldn't make it to I will be doing the whole crawl. Hopefully the weather gets better because it hasn't started that well. I arrived and I was the only one here in the dark. Last time was busy and full of tourists so I didn't want to be crawling around under here. Then more people arrived and the very sneaky hide was soon found. A favourite from me.Thanks Silver dice for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.
Last one after a long day of caching and eating. It was awfully chilly outside but we braved the cold for JUST ONE MORE before bed. Could have been out there all night looking for this one, but a welcome hint was tossed our way and we made short work of it. Thanks to jascat for making the find so I could get to my room and defrost.
Found 17 Aug 2024 at 8:23:54PMOut for the weekend with sedgwickDave, aim was to attend many of the Cache Crawl 24 events and find some select caches along the way. After a big day driving, we stopped in quickly at the pub for dinner and then a walk around town for some local quality caches. Many thanks to Silver dice for placing Port of call for us all to find. A weekend away on The Great Victorian Cache Crawl 2024. Last year we completed half. This year we are aiming for the full crawl. After arriving in Echuca we went for the usual wander and met up with Grub62 and bundoorian, grabbed a sorbet and wandered here. After some bending, twisting, eating sorbet, NelandAndy arrived to join in the search.it was great to hear Crackers say "here it is". Thanks Silver dice (Cache Guardian = gregandjudi) for creating for us all to enjoy. A nifty hide well worthy of another FP. --------------------------------------------------------The nominees for the [**2023 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards** ](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/2023-victorian-cache-of-the-year-awards/) have been announced. This was a case of great teamwork and I can honestly say that I didn't do too much to find the cache. Extremely well hidden. Thanks for the entertainment and TFTC.
Spent 45 mins the first time having a very good look where the cache was but couldnt find it. Second attempt the reward was in our hands Tftc
i cannot believe i found this, after 2 visits we came back for one last look before we head back to melbourne. signed the log and we moved on, not sure what people were saying about having trouble getting out the log. TFTC found with bttam and geojoeymac
found with Moira mappers after returning three times. Used a hint from the coach driver. great cache and need to remember you can access from both ends. tftc
Came here yesterday knowing this was going to be tough, and failed to make the find. Reading plenty of previous logs and I came up with an idea. Back again today and while there were muggles around, I made out I couldnt find anything. But once the coast was clear, the first place I looked with an idea, was exactly where it was. What a very clever hide in a most public position.
Came back 3 times to find this one. As other posters have said , we had this in our hand numerous times. Got a hint from the coach driver.. yesterdays coach driver didnt know but told us the driver today would. Also needed to remember that there are 2 ends to this and yes we were trying the wrong end after going back to get a wrench and tweezers. When the penny dropped we realised we only needed tweezers. Great cache. Favourite from us
Enabling cache - would seem recent finders didn't realise there are two ends to this cache - one of them give access to the log.
Found years ago and took my partner here for this one. He went straight to it!! But couldnt get the log out. Great hide. FAVE from us.
after searching for ages and being told off for climbing on it from a muggle we had a little help from one of the horse drivers, we were on the right track, we just tried the wrong end, also couldnt get the log out
Found the sneaky little cache. Just unable to release the cache container. Either jammed in or need some extra muscle. I'll come back and try again when a little quieter
When I mentioned to some fellow cachers that I was coming to Echuca, they all said you need to attempt this cache. A few of those cachers have dnf'd it. So, I was determined to make the find.I started with a little look around poking and prodding as I wandered past. It was quite a busy little area. On my wander back again, I had a look over the structure and bam, within 2 minutes, I had located the hide. However, it was the extraction that I had a problem with. I came back and had another go later in the day, but no luck. I was determined not to leave town until I had that log signed. So back again today with a little tott andI had the log signed and returned as found. Thankyou for this cache. A fav point from me
After a long weekend of squaredancing my geo senses haven't kicked in Second dnf today
WOW, it's been 9 years when I logged the DNF and today I got another chance to find this cache, could not believe I found it within 1 minute of looking. My caching skills have improved. This will get a favourite point for the great construction of the cache.
Searched for quite some time, early we had it in our hands but didnt realise until Mr P tried again (he had made a comment earlier that ?!?! didnt exist back in the old days)Clever hide and getting a fav point from us
Last time I was here this cache was disabled although would have been perfect timing as no one was around, back today and the flood of people here didnt help with this one, I found the cache fairly quickly although it was jammed in so needed to use a tott to get it out, the log book was signed and returned. Great hide and fav from meOn the way home from the Capital Geobash Mega in the ACT, today I made my way from Corowa/Rutherglen to Kerang via Shepparton, I had no real plan today other than find a few caches for a challenge caches plus visit some places on the back roads I was yet to visit. Thanks for the cache
Looked around for about 15 minutes, trying all the obvious spots with plenty of muggles around. Used the hint and previous logs, but we were unable to find this cache.
Found after a couple of attempts at searching night/day had it in hand a few times without realising, once we had it, this was really good cache a favourite for us
It's a quiet afternoon in Echuca so we had plenty of privacy to search. After checking everything we thought was obvious, we were still empty handed. Knowing we'd missed something devious, we started over and began the systematic search again, ruling out everything as we went. Suddenly something stood out, a cleverly camoed feature didn't quite look like it was original. Even that had us stumped for a while longer until it gave up the goods. We now understand why this has so many favourite points and we'll add another. Thanks
An early morning walk around the waterfront of Echuca saw me stopping to try to find this cache...I had the area all to myself so I was able to search systematically but that wasn't going to help me because without a PAF I would bever have found this cache. Absolutely brilliant. FAV point worthy.
Excellent hide! Geokids were challenged. Forgot the darn pen. Tftc*Log type adjusted from 'Found' by Reviewer*>Caches can be logged online as 'Found' after the geocacher has visited the coordinates and signed the logbook.
Spent 10 minutes with a dozen kids scouring the wagon and log. Enjoyed a cruise on the Canberra steam paddle boat and returned with just one Geokid who actually wasnt any help. A very satisfying find once the necessary work was done to reveal the hide.
Geo kid found this one.... I was looking for something stuck on the wagon. Great find.
Found faster than I expected. A great hide. No pen so will be back to sign logTftc*Log type adjusted from 'Found' by Reviewer*>Caches can be logged online as 'Found' after the geocacher has visited the coordinates and signed the logbook.
Found this quicker then I thought I would. Didnt bring a pen so will be back to sign. Thanks, a clever hide. Coordinates very accurate *Log type adjusted from 'Found' by Reviewer*>Caches can be logged online as 'Found' after the geocacher has visited the coordinates and signed the logbook.
Fun morning find with SEBowen123 doing the honours. Found faster than expected. Forgot our stamps so will come back to sign the log.*Log type adjusted from 'Found' by Reviewer*>Caches can be logged online as 'Found' after the geocacher has visited the coordinates and signed the logbook.
**Enabling cache** Thank you to 'gregandjudi' for your persistence in keeping this cache going. A big shout out to not only, 'gregandjudi', but also 'WazzaAndWenches' and 'Little Squirell', for their contribution to the cause. Cache now being looked after by the geocaching community as a Community Cache under the guardianship/care of ['gregandjudi'](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?code=PR3ZG8N)
New container in place. Thanks to Wazzandwenches and Little Squirell for helping.I hope things are doing well for Silver dice following the floods last year.
While gregandjudi are occupied with "tree fishing" up north I'm working on a solution to get this cache up and running again. I think I have found a suitable component but, unfortunately, I'm relying on a non-cacher to come through with the goods...it's a slow process.
We are going with another plan to get this cache up and running, if we may have more time please Bunjil
The floods last year have had a devastating effect on so many. Hope all is progressing well with the CO and he will be able to provide a replacement cache soon.
I have been in contact with CO and a replacement cache has been delayed due to flooding events in the region.
The cache has been confirmed as missing, so it has bee temporarily disabled to remove it from search listings and discourage people from visiting this location until the replacement can be installed.
Cache is missing, but we are working with the owner, the reviewer and the Port of Echuca to arrange a replacement.
Came for a look with hccatcher11415, Shadow! and Goo67, before heading off to for our houseboat break - one of the people that works here (Joe) told us the cache is missing (he gave us a solid description).
Had a bit of a look for this one today but unable able to find.... will have to come back.
