Made it out here, what a nice spot

Found with goldielover today while doing the 3 Capes hike. We had looked for this one in 2019 with no luck. Glad to have now rectified that this time. Magical views here today but that wind. All good here with your cache Tftc

Its Day 4 of our Three Capes adventure and after an early start we made our way up Mt Fortescue and around the coast towards Cape Hauy. A windy walk but we made it to the end of the Cape without getting blown off! Amazing views from out here and a scary view looking straight down! I headed off track and had a look around, the hint helped narrow down the search area and I found the cache without issue. Took a few more photos then began the walk back up the track. Thanks for the cache CaxixiFind #6249

Didn't have any luck with this one, definitely a place I want to return to so hopefully I will give it another try sometime!

Epic winters day for a walk out to Cape Huay. We literally could not have hoped for a better day weather wise. We did worry that heading anti-clockwise around Tassie and getting to the Tasman Peninsula in winter was a foolish idea but so far we have had lucky weather. It had been a chilly start at Fortescue Bay and we started out wearing gloves and fleeces but as the day progressed our layers were shed. Spectacular views over the Southern Ocean and amazing coastline we had a brilliant day out. Out thanks to all the CO for placing caches and AL on our route to add an extra element of fun to our day.Great to find a golden oldie, quickly found signed and returned in between walkers. Currently in excellent condition. TFTC

For well over a year i have been wanting to do these Caches and this World-famous walking track to a Geological Wonder of Tasmania but just never got around to actually 'doing' it. Slack or just plain forgetful? it's one or the other so over the last month i waited for the perfect day weather-wise to not only do this awesome trail but to net me some Caches aswell.Today, Wednesday the 6th of March 2024, i parked up the GeoMobile in the Walking Trail car park and set off with all the needed gear for an 9km round trip... Water / Bandages / Food the whole bit and was hoping the phone reception would last. The reception out here on the cape was quite good actually. Not slow in any way so i was rapt, but not as rapt as i was to finally make it out here and to find the cache in under a minute. I did have to leave the track, so i wanted to make sure it wasn't another 3 or so metres southward ha ha Big Grin. It wasn't and i was hidden nicely away from Muggle view as i sat myself down to sign the log and go through the swag in the cache. Lots of rubbery figures within. I loved just taking in the views and the fact i'm actually here emersed in the awe of this geological wonder of the world (to be fair) as it is truly amazing and i haven't even set eyes on the actual Totem Pole yet. I could hear the jet boat below that takes tourists out to see this spot from sea level as i signed the log at 11:46. A Favorite Point from me for this spot / the cache + it's age and the walk to get here, which was SO worth it CoolWinkThe cache and contents are in perfect order and are dry. Re-hid with no Muggles even knowing i'm in here Big GrinTFTC Caxixi Smile

TBS had all the luck today but it was my gps that got us there. We saw a seal bathing on his back. How cute!We sat down under a shady tree and had lunch, luckily most of the crowd had left. TFTC such a lovely place

10-Jan-24
After starting off at Fortescue Camping Ground car park we set off with three things in mind.1) Reaching Cape Hauy (a 2 hr hike)2) Grabbing all 5 caches along the way 3) Adding to our Strava stats The last cache of the walk, just short of the viewing platform. When we were approaching GZ there were about 15 people on the viewing platform by the time we found and logged this cache everyone had headed back and we had the area to ourselves which was nice and romantic. We'd brought lunch, chicken rolls beautifully prepared by Jo2022AUS so we sat and ate these in the shade before the next eager siteseers arrived. As for the cache it was another quick find, thank goodness, as we were pretty tired. A favourite point for the location Nice hide TFTC

We were nearly to the end and I seriously think the prospect of finding a geocache was keeping me going. Sorry for brief log, I will do more when I get home. btw I found hint a little misleading. Just saying as you don't want to stray too far
Thanks Caxixi for contributing to our game by placing caches for us to enjoy and to the Tas Community for maintaining this oldie.

Thanks for the cache Caxixi, and also thanks for the Tas_Community who has recently maintained this cache and kept this classic old cache on the map.
Today EeePees and I hatched a plan to tackle the walk out to Cape Hauy and to find some geocaches along the way.
I've been to Cape Hauy a few times, the last visit was about ten years ago, and all the manicured steps were in place then, but the lookout at the end of the Cape is definitely new this trip.
Also new, the very high number of people on the track - yes there was a school group, yes there were the walkers from the Three Capes completing the last day of their walk, but there were so many others. As a result, there were quite a few muggles at the Lookout when we arrived - probably about a dozen people sitting down having a snack, taking photos, nursing babies (yes!). Whilst I decided to take in some water and calories, EeePees headed off to locate the cache. After feeding my face I started to make my way down the track to join EeePees in the search, I could just make him out through the scrub and sure enough he had located the cache.
I made my way to GZ to sight the cache and it's hiding place. Now back to the lookout for a bit more a snack, soaking up of the views, and a job well done (and absolutely no thoughts of all those steps to conquer on the way back).
A favourite from me!

Firstly, thanks to the Tas_Community bunch of geocachers who have kept this old cache in the game.

What a perfect day for my first ever walk out to Cape Hauy.
With the fine company of Lil Rafa we left the Fortescue Bay car park just after 10am.
Finally arrived at the end, checked out the views, and shuffled in and out with lots of people there at the lookout today.
A magic spot indeed.
There's been quite some enhancements here since this cache was first placed, the newer lookout, and manicured track - possibly moved a little from the original.
So, yes, now need to move a couple of metres off the (newer?) track to access the cache.
My legs definitely in now they've been up and down lots of steps, but this spectacular destination is certainly worth it.

Took a minute to hone in on the right spot, then a quick find courtesy of a "telltale" hide - to a geocacher of course.
Cache was a little damp inside, but the log is nice and dry inside it's bag. Wiped out the moisture as best I could.

Then a bit of lunch before the return journey.

Thanks caxixi for the cache and the adventure - and of course for getting me here.
Cheers, EPs.

After watching an adventure film with climbers on the Totem Pole at the Banff Film Festival, this place was high on the list to visit.

We are so glad we did the 11km return walk but my aspirations of climbing this pinnacle vanished when I got to the first cliff view! It’s a long way down to the angry deep blue sea!!

I wandered around in the bush a bit but eventually found it. Sandyofthesea ate some food and played cover for the muggles.

Caxixi, I found aHauy there! today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

Amazingly manicured track rewarded with stunning views. It’s 10km return. So good that I am now reading Paul Pritchard’s booked titled ‘ Totem Pole’. Morgo isn’t going to climb it now.

Thanks

#5361, 2023-03-07 at 12:14,

Nalezeno společně s Radoshordos během měsíčního výletu do Malajsie, Singapuru, Bruneje a Austrálie, kde byla hlavním cílem celého výletu Tasmánie. Singapore se zároveň stává mojí 39. navštívenou zemí a Austrálie mojí 40. navštívenou zemí.
Keš jsem našel během chvilky společně s Radoshordos. Děkuji za přivedení na další zajímavé místo a za další bod do sbírky.
Zdravím z České republiky.

Found it during a one-month trip together with Radoshordos to Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Australia, where Tasmania's was main destination of the whole vacation. Singapore is also becoming my 39th visited country and Australia my 40th visited country.
I found the cash in a moment with Radoshordos. Thank you for bringing me to another interesting place and for the next point to the collection. Greetings from the Czech Republic.

Great location. Thanks for cache. Just finished three capes track. (I think the instruction that you do not need to leave the track is a tad misleading but helps to focus us on being close to the track)

This two week Tassie trip has been a long time coming. I have booked and rebooked a number of times thanks to sick elderly parents and various covid border lockdowns.

My first week was spent sailing a gaff rigged open wooden boat from Recherche Bay to Hobart to join the Wooden Boat Festival. My family joined me at the Wooden Boat Festival and after a few days in Hobart, we headed to the Tasman Peninsular and Three Capes.

It has been just magnificent. The trail is easy walking, the huts are great and it is a pleasure not to have to hump a tent and cooking gear.

Today, sadly, is our last day on the trail. After slogging up Mt Fortescue, it was a very pleasant walk through the rain forest and along the clifftops to the junction. With so many stairs for the walk out to Cape Hauy, we were happy to ditch our backpacks in favor of a daypack.

At the lookout, there was an excited school group jammed against the fence. So I opted to head back down the path a little and slip off the trail and grab this one. I sat here for a while and enjoyed a snack and when the kids moved on, I headed up to the lookout for a view of the Totem Pole.

Many thanks Caxixi. Great location for a cache.

After my daughter & I got to Cape Hauy, had lunch at the lookout, enjoyed the amazing views for almost an hour we turned our attention to this cache. She spotted it from the track while I was looking elsewhere. TFTC. FP for me, as I loved this spot.

Found on the last day of our Tasmania trip - glad we saved this walk till last, my legs were wrecked for the next 24-48hours!! So many stairs (~4500 according to google), but worth the view at the cape. TFTC! Smile

Took a little scrambling around (and the hint seemed a little misleading), not to mention my gps was sending me over the cliff, but found it eventually.
Great conclusion to our 3 Capes Track hike!

First Time in Tasman Peninsula, and this is one of my favourite place in Tassie so far (haven't been everywhere yet though, but I fell in love with landscapes in here).
Cape Haut Walk was of course on my bucket list, I knew it was really beautiful, and it really was !
Found it with Kakù and our partners, had a good fun looking for it !
Thanks for the cache !

08-Feb-22
Saw these new caches come out in an area that we have thought about, many times, on doing the walk. We knew that it would be a bit of a challenge as we have done the walk on the opposite side to Dolomieu Point and that was up and down and it was a struggle for us! But today after waking early we decided to have a go at these new caches and the older caches too. We thoroughly enjoyed the views and the caches. Nice to break up our walk and have something to aim for! It was very quiet out here first thing this morning but by the time we reached Cape Hauy it was like “Bourke St” We sat and had a nice “lunch” break at Cape Hauy look out with quite a few other walkers mostly doing the 3 Cape walk.

Oh boy, nearly there!! Woohoo! While male membsec went to the lookout with my backpack, I went to search for this cache. I tried a couple of entrances before I found the correct way and the cache! It took awhile. Now for some food, drink and a rest with a view.

Thanks to the Tassie community group for replacing this oldie, so worth keeping.

08-Feb-22
Headed out to Cape Hauy in the hope of finding some new and old caches. Being a local I have tackled this track quite a few times, long before the Capes hike updated the track and long before becoming a cacher. Thankfully this cache at the end of the track has just been resurrected, so got to stamp a lovely new logbook. TFTC.

Thanks to the the band of intrepid adventurers who have restored this wonderful old cache.

05-Feb-22
This mission today was to check on/replace this iconic cache. Armed with photos of the original hide, the team set out for a leisurely stroll. The flat-earther amongst us (not SSR or myself) appeared to have got it very, very, wrong!
I had vague memories of this walk long before I started geocaching, having walked with the Bear (from smileybear) and a muggle friend. I don't remember all the steps but I do remember many ups and downs.
We arrived at the lookout some 2.5+ hours after we set off, having deposited some treasures along the way and enjoyed a well earned lunch before checking and replacing this cache.
Thanks for the original hide Caxixi, and to those who have assisted in keeping it alive.

What an amazing walk this was, I have wanted to visit this place since i first talked about good climbs in Tassie with Mrs Rat before she was even Mrs Rat, 30 years ago I was a bit of a rock climber going out most dry weekends to try another pitch all over the peak district, lake district, and even France so even with me no longer weighing less than a feather it was nice to at long last take a look at the Totem Pole and the Candlestick from a few metres away, goose and budgie have idea that this was so important to me and they will only find out when they read this log.
For me today was a big goal ticked off my personal bucket list, goose and budgie stayed up at the lookout as I made my way down to find a better vantage point to have a proper look at the wonderful dolerite sea stack that almost killed Paul Pritchard.

For a moment I had phone coverage and the others rang me and asked where I had got to and did I want to get this cache,so after no further ado we walked to GZ and added our names to the logbook.

Again today we were a trio of cachers with myself Goose and Budgie heading South, this time in the Budgiemobile, I have been wanting to head down this way for a number of years well in fact over three decades, after all this walking we were all very much worse for wear but all very happy to have achieved something like this walk today.

Thanks for the caches and bringing me here.

It the interest of keeping older and and significant caches in Tasmania, this cache has been replaced

05-Feb-22
A small group of cachers walked out to this cache, on a mission to save such an iconic cache, and also see the great views. I was lucky enough to tag along. The number of people on the track was amazing, I reckon we passed around 75 people, well more like they passed us as we were fairly slow, stopping regularly looking for hiding spots for caches!!!! Of course there were some stops to take the required photos, none of which do justice to the scale of the place.

Thank you for such a great location for a cache

###Cache Maintenance Visit Required please.###
This geocache has been brought to my attention as being in need of an Owner Maintenance visit, as the logs indicate that it is most likely missing, or else some other problem exists with the cache.
I agree that it certainly seems necessary to have it checked by the Cache Owner.

The cache owner needs to:
* Investigate the situation and either restore the cache, or address any other issues, such as correcting the D/T rating if necessary.
* Re-enable the cache by posting an Enable log
* Post an Owner Maintenance log to advise what has been done, and to clear any Needs Maintenance attribute which is present.

Otherwise :
* Post a Note Log to request more time if necessary, or provide other information..
**Do not use an Owner Maintenance log for this, that is for use only **when you actually do something to repair the cache**.

Alternatively:

* Archive the cache, and remove any remaining geo-litter from the site.

In the meantime, I've temporarily disabled the cache page to await owner action by Caxixi and to take it off the playing board to prevent further geocaching community inconvenience.
[Please see the maintenance section of the Geocache Hiding Guidelines.](https://www.geocaching.com/play/guidelines?expand=1#cachemaintenance)
**I will check back in 30 days** to see that action has been by the CO.
If nothing has happened, I will assume that the cache has been abandoned and, unfortunately, I will need to Archive this cache.
*Caches archived because of lack of maintenance/abandonment will not be unarchived.*

The Geocaching Community needs to have a degree of certainty that a cache is there, and in good condition, waiting to be found, and the CO has a responsibility to maintain their caches.

Please see [my profile page](https://www.geocaching.com/p/default.aspx?u=Balayang) for additional information.
Thank you

We agree with the previous DNF’s. There are many clues and they lead to a gap in some rocks. The cache is definitely meant to be there.

I was excited to find the only traditional cache along the Three Capes Track, but no luck. Found the gum tree and some promising-looking rocks, but the cache was missing. Even without a pack I found Cape Hauy the most challenging part of the track, but absolutely worth it with the scenery.

A spectacular walk, with some crazy steep sections of stairs. My calves were so sore after all this, but the view at the end was worth the pain.
Unfortunately with this cache, I didn't find it. I pulled up all the movable rocks around the small tree, and the description said no need to leave the path, I did have a look around a bit further up but no luck. There was a bullants nest that I disturbed when poking around, so watch out.

Today, it's the second day of my trip in Australia and in Tasmania.

I've planned to hike 2 capes tracks today. Cape Raoul and Cape Hauy.
In the morning, I've done Cape Raoul. The weather was foggy, a little rain and sometimes some sun.

The trail was amazing for my first in Australia.
I saw some wallaby's, not a lot of people on track. Certainly because I was early.

In the afternoon, cape Hauy. Less longer track, great views too. Much people on this track.
It was warmer but still some clouds and a little rain sometimes.

For this cache, there is some people around so I tried to be stealthy.
It was not easy to find but I've finally found it.

It's my third tradi in Tasmania and Australia.

Thanks for the cache near a beautiful lookout !

A multiday hike in Tasmania is on my bucketlist but as this trip was relatively last minute as I decided to pick up a certificate in person, I snuck this mini hike in to get a little entree of what to expect. We found a most fantastic hiking store in Hobart where everyone was extremely helpful, bought a book of Tassie walks, found the mini can opener I've been looking everywhere for for decades, found some shoelaces in another store and chose this day trek as we were due to fly out in the evening. So. many. steps. But even with that, that is the only negative of the entire walk, great scenery and in awe of how the track was made. Saw an echidna, someone was in process of climbing up the stacks. And while staying on the track, it was so gusty at times I was legit nearly blown over a few times! haha Fantastic experience all round!tftc

On the Tasman Peninsula enjoying a mini getaway along with the main reason of completing the Cape Hauy walk. We encounered three seasons walking to the lookout. The views along the way were magical and even more so at the lookout. We had the place to ourselves. On our way back I searched for this one and was lucky to spot a glimpse of it from the track. It was a bit further in than the hint says but a safe location. SL TFTC Caxixi

Visiting Cape Hauy during our 3 capes walking tour. Had trouble locating the cache first, then found The Hancock Clan's log and realised it's been replaced recently. Widened the search a little bit, here it is. Cape Hauy walk was magnificent. The weather couldn't make up it's mind today, but we enjoyed the scenery nonetheless. Thanks for putting /replacing the cache at such a wonderful location.

The cache description and hint have changed slightly. It is definitely worth reading The Hancock Clan log before searching for this one. We had to leave the path to reach the cache.

We've had our eye on this one for a while and this weekend decided to camp at Fortescue Bay and make the walk out here. It was a beautiful day for it and the views were stunning along the way. It was a lot busier than we expected though and it seems most people we came across had paid top dollar to stay in the luxury huts and hike the Three Capes Track.
Anyway...back to the cache. It was obviously missing going by the string of DNF's. We too had a good look and found nothing save a few rocks that probably covered it at some stage. With the recent influx of visitors since the opening of the Three Capes Track it became apparent that this cache had most likely sadly suffered due to the increase of muggles. And so we came prepared...
It would be a shame to see a 12 year old cache in such a fantastic location disappear so we decided to replace it. We have messaged the CO but as expected there was no reply since he/she/they haven't logged on to geocaching.com for almost 5 years. Happy to change this log to a note, and happy to go back and retrieve the cache that we left if need be (it's probably not quite as exposed as before but still fits the clue, although you might have to leave the path slightly unless you can stretch a long way - it's in a safe spot NOT near the edge). Otherwise, we hope that many others will now get a smiley for their efforts. TFTC!
Cheers,
The Hancock Clan

No luck today for goldielover team Herbz and Griffo. Searched for quite some time. Pretty certain it’s gone. Bit sad to miss this one but the views here are something else.

No it's definately not there.
So much traffic it must have been muggled.
