#6315.
I really loved this cache. We worked out the coordinates earlier in the day in the Botanical Gardens (my movie knowledge was lacking severely) and drove to the recommended parking spot. I realised that it would take a bit of a hike to get to the actual container and the family didn't seem all that excited for the walk. We decided to walk to another nearby cache and once we got there, the girls decided they were willing to accompany me to the top. We ended up walking all the way to the top with the cache being a welcome break. Mrs took the car up and waited for us at the top. The girls were really excited by the size of the cache and they could actually exchange some swag. Thanks for creating and placing this puzzle cache for us to find. Earns a FP from us. TFTC!

Find 228 for the tribe and find 8 out of 9 different cache types in the Illawarra today.

After visiting "We Love the Gong" we headed South and descended Mt Kiera stopping for a short bushwalk and this retro puzzle cache. We parked near the scout camp and walked down a lovely section of the ring track which was nicely shaded this afternoon. Found the cache after a brief search. The geokids loved swapping a couple of things out - plenty of swag in this cache.

The books really were in terrible condition (mouldy/stuck together/unreadable) so in the spirit of today's earlier CITO I removed them from the cache. Dropped off the Lego Love Boat which has already moved on by the time I am writing my log!

If future finders want to bring a book to drop off, may we suggest placing it in a big ziplock bag to prevent any moisture damage to the book. There are now no books in the cache so if you bring some it will be initially to drop off only.

After grabbing #7000, there was 5 minutes more to add another one for the day. Parking near the scout camp entrance and locked gate, it was a short stroll to GZ. Soon enough, EH spotted this large one. Like others have stated, the books have seen better days, but the log was dry enough. After signing and replacing, it was time to head home after catching some spectacular views over the coast. TFTC

This one has been on the solved list for at least a year now and finally found myself in the area with some time to spare. I parked at the top of my Keira and walked my way down to the cache. A quick find but unfortunately the insides of the cache are very wet and the books inside are all but destroyed. The log is a little wet too but I got my name on there still. Thank you!

Found on a perfect Winter day for a drive down to the Gong and surrounds. Wink
Met up with fitzy65 and minniek for a fun day out and a big caching adventure.
A few good safe hides and not many muggles around.
Cache condition is OK/good.
Thanks for the cache Gribbly,

20,867.Found during a caching loop from Moss Vale, Wollongong and up to the Sutherland Shire with minniek and our caching Mate from Wagga - Roostaman !!

I mentioned to Roostaman - who was in Moss Vale for a few days caching - that we were heading down Wollongong way for a few specific caches, and we decided to team up again for what turned out to be a pretty epic day. A solved puzzle icon appeared next on the map, so we parked at the scout entrance and walked along the track to GZ. When we uncovered the cache it has obviously gotten soaked inside but has dried out again. All the books have been affected. So TLC is required here.

TFTC Mrs Gribbly & Gribbly !!

Headed out for a days caching with fitzy_1965 and Roostaman.

Having presolved this one, we couldn't drive passed without grabbing it. We did have some parking issues but some worked out a safe place and then headed down to GZ.

We found the cache fairly quickly but unfortunately all the books have been wet at some stage and are no longer in a good way. We managed to sign the log book though.

Solved a long time ago, finally got time to get it.

I walked from the Girl Guides camp Kum Ba Yaa[sp] to Mt Keira lookout to see how the track went, on the way back I found this near some beautiful trees. TFTC

25-Aug-19
It was nearing the end of the day and us old farts had enough energy for one last cache. As suggested, we parked at Byarong Park and followed the track up to the Ring Track and then followed it (very scenic) to GZ. This was a lovely location. Incredible buttress tree roots. Good coords as well. TFTC

After a nice night in our new home for a few days, we set off to make some finds up the hill on the way to the MEGA event. We stopped a few times along the way to make a few finds as well as see some of the great areas around Wollongong. We searched for a bit to find this cache and finally found it with a very damp log book.

We had solved this puzzle many many moons ago, and it was this weekend we decided to go for a hike around the ring track!
A wet start to the day provided us with some awesome waterfalls & fast flowing creeks along our walk
We arrived at GZ and soon had the cache discovered names in log and continued along the track

A great day out ! Thanks Gribblys !

Well had an interesting day with five finds out of eight. Went down to Wollongong to grab a couple of puzzle caches I had done and meet up with some friends for a bit more caching. Only found two of my puzzles and could only grab a few with my friends before I had to leave for an appointment.

This was my first for the day. Wow what a beautiful walk here! The morning light dappling through the tree canopy was amazing...I love this temperate rainforest...wish I could have it in my backyard. GPS bouncing a little but didn't take too long to find after a sweep of the area. The books need to be replaced as they are getting mouldy, maybe new books need to be put into a plastic bag. Thanks for bringing me here.

Oh, Gribbly's. Thank you so much for bringing me back to this amazingly serene place!! Had so many local birdlife keeping me company whilst I searched in vain with a jumpy GPS under the canopy and cars zooming by just a few metres from my position. TFTC!!

What a great concept for a cache! Please accept another FP.

Worked out the coordinates to 'pre-GZ' ages ago. Today, I was in the area after completing Rock a bye baby.
GPS was all over the place so rather that using coords, I figured it might be best to look for places that are large enough to hide a collection of books. The exchange-library (what we call the cache) was found soon after.
Unfortunately, I forgot to pack a book to swap. But will definitely do that next time I'm in the area.
TFTC Gribbly!

Surprised to see this one be unfound for quite some time.

Considering plenty of people use this track (daily?)

Nice to pick up another find and a very leisurely stroll

Thanks for a great size cache!!!!!!!

22-Mar-15
This lonely cache has been a spot on my almost cleared map of unfound caches for a while. My plans for the day had been cancelled due to the rain, but that never stopped me from a cache hunt.
I made good use of the now open Mount Keira Road to reach the start of the trail.
A light rain, muddy slosh of a track and the ever wet bushes made the journey that bit more interesting, until I reached the area near GZ. This was the scene of many fantasy tales use. I was expecting for gnomes to run by at any moment.
There were many possible hiding places here. One particular spot away from the coordinates drew me in, but I was disappointed with no find there.
I resorted to a PAF, but due to the long time since it was found the memory was no longer clear enough to help, however before I hung up, I spotted the unbelievable hint of the cache.
A barrel of old books! Oh, and a log book somewhere in there too!
I took the trackable to get it moving again.
Thanks for the cache.

Found it. Swapped some books and left a travel bug.

15-Sep-13
We finally came here to do this one, worked out puzzle and headed for GZ, been a cooler day the walk was refreshing with loads of bird noises along the way, what a beautiful location. Then Baja and I headed for another near by cache. TNSL TFTC a fav point from me.

15-Sep-13
Great walk and magic location at GZ. There is plenty of evidence of the constant battle against the relentless lantana and devil's twine. If this work stops the area would be overgrown in no time. During the walk we were treated to a constant chorus of bird song and the glimpses of fantastic ocean views.
Not wanting to give up anything but I was rather impressed with the final location. GPS was a little eratic, probably due to the tree cover but cache was soon located. SLTN..TFTC

Always walk around here. Great spot for some bush walking exercise. Took "Swaggie" TB along today for the visit. Love the puzzles.

20-Mar-13
We were planning on driving most of the way up to this cache and a few others in the area to get them all quite quickly, but since the road is closed we ended up walking up from Byarong Park along the Ringroad Track. I'm glad we did because it is a beautiful walk.

After standing at GZ and walking the required 22M East I was practically standing on top of the cache. Even then it was quite hard to spot due the the natural camouflage which had fallen on it since the last find.

The lid was slightly ajar due to one of the books being too large, so we cleaned out the leaves and dirt best we could and took the offending book so the lid would close properly. We left a kids book "Animalia".

The log was slightly damp but we couldn't wait around for it to dry as we had more caches to find, but I changed the bag to try to keep it drier for next time.

TFTC!

Solved this a while ago, been waiting for the right day. Today we made a run up the mountain to find a few caches near by. Beautiful area, the fig trees here are massive! Found with snorris. Forgot this was a book swap so TNLN, will have to pop by again some time and make a swap. TFTC.

I remember when my daughter use to watch this show...and how that catchy little tune always got stuck in my head! Nice walk in with the family and a great big well stocked cache at the end. Picked up a leech on the way but only a baby one. Was actually expecting to come across a lot more of the thirsty little bloodsuckers! Thanks Gribbly for another exciting adventure Smile

We solved the questions weeks ago and had an unsuccessful search at GZ arround this time (my old GPS send us everywhere, but nowhere close to GZ). Today we teamed up with M&M007, who had also solved the questions. We enjoyed the walk to GZ and the magnificent tree at GZ. We searched for quite some time until the cache was in our hands. Thanks for bringing us to this beautiful place!!

I came across this cache while looking for geosportz caches and solved the puzzle a few weeks ago, this weekend my wife had a confrence in Sydeney and I decided to take her new car for a drive on the Saturday while see was in the conference. Heading down to meet her of friday night I discovered i had left the coords in Newcastle so Jumped on line to redo the puzzle only to find the clue sheet was not accessible. Luckily I rechecked on Saturday morning and found a copy of the clue sheet in the gallery. The next problem was finding the right spot to park, then the walk to GZ.

As I approached GZ the were some muggles sitting having a rest but after a short chat they were on there way and I had GZ to myself. After a bit of a search around the obvious spots I turned around and spoted another possible spot and lifted one bit of camo to revealpart of the cache.

Thanks for a nice puzzle, drive, walk and large cache.

The first time I did a walk up to the Ringroad-Trip at Mt. Keira and went to "Just guide me to it!". After finding that one I saw "5 Minutes More" on the map - why not search this one, too? Oh, it's a mystery.. hmm... I'll have to solve the clue sheet before. Ok, tried it and it was hard for me. It was getting dark and in the complete darf I solved the questions, Google and Wikipedia helped me a lot. Typed in the coordinates - 80km away. What? Ok, try the other mode for coordinates. Ah, thats reachable. But still a long walk in the dark. I gave up and went down.
Today I went Mt. Keira up again. After about 1 hour I reached the top, enjoyed the view again and found "Keira Kapers II" and stayed there for two hours. I tried to find "Keira Kapers", too, but it seems this cache is not reachable anymore. Ok, further and down back to the ringroad trip. And to the GZ. But my GPS wasn't able to get a fix in the trees there. It showed me coordinates with +/-48m imprescision. Funny :-/ Searched and searched, found many object of the type in the clue. Very many. Hundreds of them in this big circle. After I had many scatches on my legs and arms I sat down on a bench and read the description again and some other logs. Tried it again. My GPS was always saying <3m on the same place (and that was the only place where my GPS worked), but that was a huge tree. No object of the type I was searching for in the nex 15m. Searched in a bigger circle, got more scatches and then I gave up Sad

I was excited to find a book drop, I just wish it was more easily accessible. It hadn't been found in several months so the natural leave litre, dirt, insects and resident mouse had us hunting for quite awhile. Don't know how geohubby spotted it and it took a bit of strength to get it uncovered but we did eventually have the geocache unearthed. We left a few books and took a book and a leech with us. TFTC!

I'll be back

17-Jan-12
Well by the logs it has been 6 months since anyone has looked for this one and that just happened to be me.
This time it was different, looked in all the same places and then something just caught my eye right at my feet and on closer inspection there it was. No wonder it was hard to find as debris had gathered over the hiding spot making for perfect natural camo and all the worms that had gathered in the leaf litter.
The cache is in perfect and dry condition. Wanted one of the books but didn't take a swap as I was not confident of a find.
TNLN TFTC.

This is another great spot on our wonderful escarpment.

Tried this one a few weeks ago during a downpour but after finding several suitable spots empty and noting recent dnf's, also gave up too quickly. Returned today with an experienced pair of eyes who confirmed cache was still in place and I just had to look from a different angle. Hard to believe I could have been so blind with a cache this size! Undergrowth still quite damp but at least I only had to contend with (book?)worms and no leeches.

16-Feb-11
A very frustrating hour spent looking fir this one. I found GZ quite accurately, and found a very likely spot for the cache, but nothing in sight. The owner may want to confirm that this one is still there :-/ Thanks for the scenic hunt though!

14-Feb-11
Not happy - long way drive the car and long walk along to the GZ, everything grow up too many forrest and rocks etc etc as stay there for one hour as GPS wont settle down due to rocks/trees... I am very disappointed as I looking forward to found large container but nah!... so DNF for me. Thanks.

5 minutes more? seemed like it was closer to 45 mins more!
After walking up from the posted co ords, I had a heck of a time trying to find the cache, until I read the clues, oh, now I get it!, there it is!
A young muggle appears to have signed the log. I took out a box of matches, who needs that in there? we have enough fires around here as it is!
A road was quite close by, pity you can't park there! Lovely spot for a rest, then it was off to some more caches. TNLN, thanks for the chance to come here..

Lady Altaire reeled off the answers to the puzzle in a trice and a suitable location was plotted. We wended our way along and down the track midst the rainforest on either side. A group of MTB riders clattered past us and soon thereafter we were at GZ with it's marvelous trees. Soon the giant cache was located and the duties carried out. We're sorry but we forgot to bring a book to swap. Dropped off a cute TB however - Fredy the hound. We were enchanted to espy both an echidna and a lyre bird on our way back up the path.

09-Aug-08
I quite enjoyed solving this one. I was familiar with all the childrens books. Just a big kid really. Solved this at home and with Alpini and Altaire for company, we headed off to GZ on a really nice track. Love those trees. Now that was a special place. The cache was soon found and my what a large one too.
On the way out we were privellaged to find an echidna curled up, pretending that it couldn't be seen.
Great experience.

Luckily I joined today a team which solved the riddle already. So this one came quite handy.
I could help get off the camouflage and after the cache rites I could rehide that one.

16th of 21 finds during the last day of our caching invasion to Wollongong. Found with Mtbikeroz, Tankengine & Mtrax.

Worked out GZ before leaving home. Arrived in the general area and set off down the track. Cache was found fairly quickly and the log was signed and we headed back to car, just as the rain arrived.

Thanks for a nice little puzzle and GZ area.

Cheers,

A great weekend for the Wollongong Invasion with Sol de Lune, TankEngine & mtrax, and often teaming up with SecretSquirrel-BJC and Captain Tomato at times. A wonderful weekend of caches, views, sub-terranian and very clever hides.

Solved puzzle, then a pleasant walk down the track to the cache, raining a bit, no book exchange this time, pretty wet outside the cache. Thanks.

Very well done! We made it back from the final location just before the rain! Love GZ, especially love those wonderful fig trees!

25-Jul-08
Bummer! Solved the puzzle, but then attemped to approach from the wrong direction & it was just too muddy on the trail, so turned back a fair distance from GZ. Will have to tackle this on another trip. I even had a book with me especially for this cache.

Got this witht the Geokids, bit a walk for the 3yr twins but they enjoyed it in the end. Swapped dinsaurs and a nemo book for a cat book, key ring clip and maccas toy. Thanks Gribblys....

We almost killed some daredevils on the way to this cache - a group of street lugers, a rollerblader and a skateboarder risking life and limb on the slope as we were coming the other way - one got so close mrs bloopy could have shaken his hand - we are all for this kind of fun if that is what you are into but not if it means putting our lives in the balance as well!!! Also killing someone would really ruin a nice day of caching.
Anyways - once we actually made it out of the car and to the track, things were far more serene and we calmed down on the walk to the cache. Mr bloopy had solved this mystery some time ago but mrs bloopy had the honour of actually finding the goods. Did a quick happy snap with a tiara from inside the cache but did not take/leave anything - not much room in there even though it is such a big cache. Cheers for the adventure!

16-Mar-08
Strictly speaking this was a DNF yesterday but only because I could not get the gizmo to work. Had more time today and was careful about not losing a fix. A very please spot with lots of bird life around including a Lyrebird performing imitations and a Rufous Fantail. Had the family decode the puzzle for me at home and donate a small book - called "Small Talk". Alreay forgotton what I left and took the book called "thank you friend" and a casino chip. Thanks Gribblys - always nice walking around here (despite leeches and mozzies). That's 4/5.

I did not have cache pages, so when the waypoint popped up a few hundred meters from another cache ( see I'm not a local)
I went straight down to them, without any knowledge of the cache page...

I am not the first to have done so i think.
I didnt find the cache, but i did find some relly old Johhy walker bottles , circa 1915, and some old china plate to add to my old items collection. so Still enjoyed myself.
thanks for the fun, but i think i need to read the cache pages first.

Found it. Nice to see a decent sized container, didn't have any books to swap though.

Thanks for the cache! Really beautiful spot, especially with the majestuous trees. Lots of interesting swaps. Picked up a TB (the frog) to help it on its way.
If you bring a picnic, make sure you bring your mozzie repellant though...

After the fun of Rock a Bye Baby, this cache seemed a good follow up. Hiked in with Mr Gribbly who did a good job of sitting back and letting me find the cache despite the rain.
No swaps, though I did leave the Merry Piggy TB to keep the books company.
This was a very good cache, nice to see a big container, with well stocked contents. Top work Mrs Gribbly (and Mr Gribbly too!).
best wishes,
Wal

Copious amounts of rain in the Illawarra this week and I suggested to the the Gribbly's that it would be a good time to do do cache checks!!!! Their response was seeing that we had not done "5 minutes more" yet could we do a cache check on it for them. Well we loved going back to this part of Wollongong. We had not been here for quite a few years so going back just after the rain was great!!! Check out the photo!!! PS the cache was in great order.

I had no idea about any of the clues, even after watching charlie and the choclate factory on saturday so it was off to the internet to provide all the right answers, and there are some dedicated/crazy/obsessed fans out there.
Anyway with all the right co ords I headed up the mountain and had the cache in hand not long after finding a good place to park. Took a geo coin but dont have the number with me at work today so I'll log it later and left nothing.
Thanks Gribbly.

I love puzzle caches, and quickly enlisted the aid of the kids to provide answers for this one when it was first listed. Lucky for me they were right, and after a lovely walk, I found a tranquil rest spot to sit and have a drink and a snack. Final GZ was found quickly without the need for the machine, and I marvelled at the size and contents of this cache. Thanks to all the Gribblys for this one, well done!

Aside from the leach that I picked up this was a very enjoyable cache. Mental Note: Thongs and rain forrest don't mix!

Cheers.

A really beautiful place with a great cache as well. It was fantastic to find a cache as big as this one. It's not too often you would find them bigger. Was this a road once? We were surprised to see the fallen power poles along the track.
Arrr the serenity..........
Thanks for bringing us here to enjoy this one Mrs Gribbly & Gribbly.

It was like trivia night at home answering the questions, conferring with each other "was the good witch from Oz XXX or YYY?" and "what did happen to Veruca Salt?". Luckily the younger Travells were able to help out big time.

Thanks Gribblys for the puzzle and the enjoyable walk at the end. In all the excitment we forgot to take a book to swap so signed the log only.

RATS!!! Foiled again. I too saw this pop up and wanted to get a FTF. Driving to it after work we saw a car parked in an unusual spot and knew we had been beaten to the prize. It must have been steeba. Had a look on the wrong side of the road dure to a user input error with the brand new GPS'r. Excellent machine even got reasonable coverage under the trees.
Gribbly, nice cache, well thought out and educational to boot. What more could you want. Woodyson proved me wrong with one answer too. Learning to be corrected by a 13yo proving you wrong is a learning experience for me.

Isn't it funny when your coin gets put into a new cache, you know that they'll be a new cache appearing very soon and this one was close to home. So I sweated on its release and then presto. But whats this, its got to do with kids books. Something I know nothing about, but luckily for me I have a few rug-rats that knew all the answers.
At the first opportunity which was after work I was at GZ looking for the cache. Poor gizmo coverage made the search a little hard but eventually the cache was in hand and a FTF for me. TNLN
Thanks Gribbly for this well thought out little mystery. I took my coin as its off OS soon.
