In Whyalla for a couple of days and out doing what we love. Another multi off the list and also got a few steps up getting to gz Thanks for the hide Tftc
Away for a few days on Eyre Peninsula to try and get some more caches.Lot's of driving between the caches this time.Luckily I left when I did, as the next night there was a big storm and large hail. That wouldn't have been fun in the swag.A quick find after a shortish walk.TFTC
We tried. We tried twice. We got to WP2 then headed west. Still no luck. Too good for us today. A weekend in Whyalla with Hellyonfire enjoying the weather and the caching. TFTC
Meeting my geosister H423L in Whyalla to do some caching Searched and searched again. I think in total for the day after rechecking coords that were correct still no joy
There is always war with cachers on different things, everyone plays the game slightly different and the war has began. A nice multi with a difference. Once at GZ the cache was found and is all good
This weekend, courtneyrose_ and I headed over to Kyancutta for the JLWE event, spending 5 days away we headed to Whyalla and Cleve along the way finding caches here and there before the event, before b-lining back home.
Thanks for the cache

TFTC. Sneaky quick day trip to Whyalla on day off work to pick up some caches!
Happy caching and safe travels!

Dumb, arsey luck more than good navigation. Was pretty sure I had the coordinates correct but couldn’t find the tin to indicate I was in the right spot. Thought seeing as I was here, I might as well have a quick look anyway. I have no idea of direction but figured west would be the opposite direction to where the sun came up so walked 100 metres in that direction and saw some trees nearby so headed there. Could have knocked me down with a feather when I saw the cache sitting there. Thanks
Another cache found during our 2022 South Australia Adventure using Geocaching as our guide.
We decided to have another go at the TFT trail and some others along the way, as there are some new caches since our last trip up this road.
Thanks Maux Faux, we had a great time but, there are some caches we will have to come back for another time

Another day of our celebrations of birthday week for the cats, Purrfect Di and Mattycat kept on birthday caching to see what we could unwrap in the way of iron triangle log books. Yours was one we found along the way, with the help of Jack. Good fun time for all and an insight into the impact of mint tins on the aussie steel industry [:o)] Most finds were straightforwad, some were a little obscure, and some were just rusting away!!! A good way to keep fit on a warm day.
Continuing our caching war on everything got the info needed then was fun finding the closest tracks to make our way here and then the final walk across. All good here!
Sincere thanks to Maux Faux for placing and maintaining this cache on our geo game map
[:o)]
We must note that we certainly do appreciate the way those mint tins age to blend in with the rusty outback earth!!! Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, plastic cracks and mint tins rust!

Searching around every day finding and signing using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S20+, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just plain old dumb luck Quite a lot of that actually!!!
*Logs are composed and published using GSAK of course.*

Please do stay as safe as possible when caching.
Keep a lookout for bogs, snakes, surprise cliffs, boxing roos, wombats, bulldust, and floods,
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall out of trees...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- but especially lookout for bugs from alpha to omega !!! . [xx(]
Try to keep Travel Bugs as the only bugs you share and pass on
Now our borders are open - even more important to sanitise and safely distance!!!
Much appreciation of all those placing quality caches out and about around the countryside,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game safe, fun, and interesting

Back in SA for harvest work. Heading to Port Pirie but 4 days ahead of schedule so a quick detour to Whyalla was in order. There sure is a lot of puzzles here! Glad we had done the solving before arriving in town. 35 from 37 hunts today.

This weekend, I headed to Whyalla to catch up with a few other Geocachers and attempt some of the trails there. On Saturday, we targeted the FTF power trail from Whyalla to Iron Knob, and then spent the evening and the subsequent morning driving some of Whyalla's back tracks. On Sunday, I visited Cowleds Landing and back north, only to get severely bogged in one of Whyalla's clay pans. I then returned home via the August series.
Today, I joined hevwalker and scramping with our goal to complete the FTF power trail. We got 75% through before taking a break for lunch in Iron Knob, and then completed the remaining geocaches, finishing in the early afternoon. We then visited the new Whyalla circular jetty, and then had dinner at the Eyre Hotel geocaching event. Finally, we headed out for a quick stop at Whyalla Conservation Park, and then headed around the tracks around the levee finding miscellaneous geocaches, all within a nice and balmy evening.
I had visited Waypoint 1 (the posted coordinates) on my previous trip to Whyalla, back on 14/06/2020 to collect the numbers, and realised it was probably unlikely for me to continue that journey on that trip, given its location. It was still a nice touristy location to stop at, nevertheless.
This cache was our last one for tonight, and we were on our return back home, after it being quite late at this stage, when I suggested we make a stop at these couple of caches along this back track nearby. We headed to my gathered coordinates for Waypoint 2, and had a quick search for the confirmation "small camouflaged micro" cache, but alas, as others have mentioned, it is likely missing (or otherwise very well hidden/buried by now). We headed west, and thankfully, managed to come across a few trees that seemed to match the description, where a cache was found. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. It is a shame that there was a bit of rubbish around GZ (or possibly a good future CITO location?). Thanks maux faux for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Found on our Whyalla holiday with hevwalker.....Davidwazza had joined us for a fun day of caching..... we had been able to get the FTF powertrail completed, lunch in Iron Knob and a few extra caches done and a lovely meal at hevwalkers event at the Eyre Hotel before heading out to get some caches in the backtracks....Wow didn't realise how many backtracks there were out here ...luckily geocaching maps helped us get around without any backtracking tonight...... such a wonderful night for caching with perfect temperatures and clear skies ...Davidwazza had all the info we needed to find this one.....at waypoint the search for the micro was unsuccessful looks like it's either buried or missing...so we followed Davidwazzas directions to go west and we came across some trees that fitted the description of where we might find the cache.... We found the cache after a quick search, signed and replaced before heading off to see the jetty at night which we had been told by a local was a must to see. TFTC
In Whyalla with scramping on a mini holiday getaway...
We were joined for the day with Davidwazza...
After my dinner event tonight we decided to do a bit of night caching...
We were now heading out into the Whyalla Backtracks...I do love country caching...you have more freedom without wondering whose watching...
It was a perfect night for it too...warm and dry...
Thanks for placing it here for our enjoyment Maux Faux

Found on a short camping and caching trip north from Adelaide with FeatherWaite.
We slowly made our way up to near Lake Gairdner on the first day, picking up some selected traditional, letterbox and multi caches along the way. We then went across to Hiltaba where we travelled around part of the property, visiting Hiltaba Lookout and Mount St Mungo to find some more caches, including a couple of FTFs, before heading down to near the Gawler Ranges National Park to camp. Then it was off to Whyalla where we targeted a few multis and traditional caches before returning to Adelaide the following day.
Unlike our trip to the south east a fortnight ago, where we were pretty well rained out, we enjoyed reasonable weather with clear skies for most of the time; the only exception being a bit of rain overnight in the Gawler Ranges area.
Most of the caches were found in good condition, although we did have to replace a couple of containers and logbooks.
Thanks Maux Faux for the cache.

Found during a caching trip to Hiltaba, the Gawler Ranges and Whyalla with e.gregory1 for a few days. On Day 1 we traveled to Port Augusta and Iron Knob then camped out for the night near Lake Gairdner. On Day 2 we arrived at Hiltaba with the main objective to tackle the caches on Mark Bonin Peak 'The Lookout' and Mt St Mungo before traveling through the Gawler Ranges. On Day 3 we drove to Whyalla then camped out nearby for the night. Day 4 saw us return back to Adelaide, picking out a few selected caches along the way. Targeting a range of cache types (Traditionals, Puzzles, Earthcaches, Multicaches, and Letterboxes), a multiple of cache attributes, and a wide variety of Difficulty/Terrain combinations resulted in an entertaining few days with cool weather and great scenery. Thanks for the cache maux faux!

Found at 3:04 PM GAFF1.
Gosh - you really had to concentrate on the description to this multi!
Should be much more than a D of 2.5!
And then it was a bit of a walk to the cache - however we managed to find a track that took us to within 95 metres
Thanks Maux Faux

Made my way to WP2 where i stood no chance of finding this "Micro In The Bush" so at the exact co-ords i had gathered before i just went due-west 100m and made an immediate find in a most obvious spot
The cache contents are ok but the cache is getting brittle. I think a new one is in order before the Winter rains potentially ruin the contents [:o]

Having obtained the numbers yesterday and did the calcs, found myself near the 2nd wp and GZ today.
I couldn't find tge bison either, but did the projection and found the cache in first place I looked.
Spending a few days in Whyalla and found a few cache, or 300!
Had managed to solve all the puzzles before coming over too.
Of the nearly 300 found on the trip over and back from Adelaide, 95% were found within 50km of Whyalla Central, with approx a dozen dnfs also. Amongst all the finds was my 17000th find.
Also managed a lot of 'unloved' finds too.
What is it with Whyalla and mint tins? lol

Thanks

Found it on a warm windy Friday the 13th.
593 days of unloved.
We were at the Information Centre and decided to get the numbers required for stage 1. We headed off and soon found a place to park 320 metres from St1 GZ.
I head off for a brisk walk, I arrived and had a look around for the empty micro but was unable to locate it
So I set off in a Westerly direction until I was about 100 metres out, I looked for a likely spot and walked over to it, and there was the cache.
The log was duly signed and the cache re-hidden for the next finder.

5000 Found by baby&Mrs gopher at 1350. Well here we have found cache number 5000. We decided that this achievement should be both a milestone and something we would remember. Started off at WP1 and found the information required. Time for lunch and a drink each. Travelled out to find a track that may get us near gz. Couldn't find the prompt container so just headed off in that direction. The distance is spot on and container was visible at 94 metres. Whoo/Hoo all achieved. SL Tnx Maux Faux a favourite from us. and a photo

Yesterday we found a few down the road and like yesterday a bit of time after work before the sun sets we decided on a few closer to town, picked up the information earlier in the week and made the detour while in the area today TFTC
OK !! So did I have to infiltrate the nearby steel plant and expose weaknesses in their security, while dressed in a buqua ?
Maybe I had to turn up at a Whyalla City Council meeting dressed as a giant squid ?
Or was this cache find as simple as visiting the Tourist Information Centre disguised as .... a tourist ? [:o]
Too easy !!
And today I headed bush on foot to track down the cache.
It didn't take long, despite not being able to find the 'not a waypoint' at the calculated coords

Then a very scenic stroll to GZ, from the railway track.

Like most others we bypassed the empty cache by projecting the final GZ co-ordinates.
Very damp underfoot after the rains on Friday, and had a chance encounter with some wildlife on the way back to the Geojeep in the form of a baby snake. wasn't quick enough to take a photo but it was banded yellow and black and about 75mm long.

I had worked out the co-ordinates for the final GZ at home after getting the required information from WP1 back in January, I had not tried to find this one until today. Knowing that the WP2 container was not there I would go straight to my projected GZ. I first went out to the area this morning with my daughter but I had some how got my co-ordinates wrong and spent a good 20 minutes looking at all the trees within 50m of my GZ with no luck. After giving up and going home I rechecked my calculations and realized where I had gone wrong, my new GZ was about 80m from my old one and looked a lot better on Google earth. So tonight I couldn't help myself and at 9 o'clock I jumped on the mountain bike and went for ride. Getting out to Gz at night on a bike with only a small light was good fun but surprisingly easy. This time my gps took me straight to a likely tree and bingo there was an exposed cache. Fearing that it had been muggled I checked inside and all was still good. So I signed the log and put it back where I found it, but with a bit more covering it. Then it was a nice ride home even though I almost came off when I dropped in to a wheel rut left by some 4X4 that had been playing in the mud after a heavy rain recently. TVLNSL, TFTC and a fun night time bike ride.
Just like everyone else, WP2 could not be found. Projected the final GZ anyway, and found the cache easily. I was a little worried we'd have trouble getting the geo-mobile back to bitumen after the recent rains, but managed to get out safely. TFTC
A nice concept for a hide and methods to find. I'm like everyone else, easily found WP1 some time ago and worked out coords for WP2, couldn't find WP2 but managed to find WP3 very easily. TFTC
Didn't find the empty cache but had a guess and found the cache easily. TN left squinkie. TFTC
This one definitely was a war on everything. We reckon today was led by luck only, got the 1st coords easy but the second set of coords we found GZ but no tin.So we guessed where to head and geodad came up with the goods.T=Geocachers sign, L=nothing(forgot the bag, sorry). TFTH.
This was a cool cache - (maybe because I worked out the final co-ords using google earth, photos and some calculations). Put my calculated co-ords in the gps and it took us straight there. Great description Maux Faux.

We found the cache as Macamob had left it. Sorry we didnt know the cache needed maintanence so didnt have a big enough spare cache container with us - if we go past again in the next day we will fix it.
We signed the log book or what was left of it.

Sad! this was one hard but memorable cache. We never did find the second leg but went straight to the ammo box. Pity it's gone...
Found by Mary & David at 1350. Delighted with this different way to start out a cache. Headed off very happy with your strong warnings about the fragile environment. Sadly, when we reached WP2, there were trail bike tracks very evident, and several bushes have been flattened. No sign of the empty micro marker either. Projected the final GZ from our calculated WP2 and set off for the final 100m. Found the tree easily enough, but the hoons had been there first. Several soft and plastic toys were scattered about, along with the laminated stash note, an empty tin pencil case, a number of pages torn from the log book, and several cachers' calling cards. No sign of the original container. Gathered up the pages and calling cards and put them in the pencil tin after adding our log. Put the tin and toys in the fork of the tree and covered them with a small metal grid we found nearby to keep them all together. Our thanks to maux faux for what should have been a happier ending.
We collectedthe clues and set off, reaching GZ in the dark, with no torch we went searching and the mozzies came out and attacked. we abandoned the search and even swapped the clueas around with no luck, will try again soon
Hard one to find, weren't sure most of the way through the complicated instructions...never did find the empty cache at point two but went straight to the cache at point three
Got the co ords and off we go. Got out to second coords but we didnt find the micro, got a bit worried but we decided to look around. my wife thinks shes the multi cache master mind, we where about to give up, then geo wife looked at clues and found the cache and made sure the world could hear her shout FOUND IT lol SL TFTC TFTH

Woohoo. I am sure I looked there 10 times last time I was here. The cache must have been hiding behind a molecule. This time the wombat had left it exposed for all to see. Left it a bit more hidden.
A challenging little cache which we finished off while we were out this way. Thanks maux faux
Did the groundwork for this multi yesterday, but saved finishing it for today, as we had other caches to do in the area. Drove to 135 mts west of where GPS was indicating. Decided as we were west of where we needed to go that we would walk in 35 mts (100 mts from co-ords) and look for the trees. Luckily for us we located the cache in second grove of trees that we checked. Never did get to look for the micro!

This was an interesting multi . I felt sure that the start point was going to set the theme around either military or shipbuilding things.
After pulling up on the road with about a 200m walk to GZ, I was worried that I had screwed something up. Arriving at GZ, I was sure I had?!. Stood there scratching my head for a while wondering WTF??. You have no idea how relieved I was to spot the confirmation container .
After that it was a simple waypoint projection and the cache was located almost immediately.
After it had all worked out, I felt that this was a very rewarding cache, mostly because I thought I’d done something wrong and that I’d never find anything. I was curious as to what the point of the intermediate waypoint was? After I had pondered it for a while, I concluded that the cache was done this way so the initial numbers could be used without modification [^].
So, in the end, I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure. I would have put in a TFTC coin, but I’d already done so in Withering Heights, another of Maux Faux’s. Nevertheless, great stuff and TFTC

A difficult find - spent a while at the 'wrong' gz but eventually uncovered one of the coolest cache camo containers i've come across - well worth the effort!
thanks mf - another challenging hunt.

Well on a freezing afternoon we figured the best way to warm up was to have a bit of exercise. Found WP1 easily enough and headed for WP2. Left the Commodore wagon on the wrong side of the tracks and trekked it the rest of the way.
Was reasonably warm by the time wife found WP2. Bit of a heated debate as to how far 100mtrs is. I won. Located well hidden cache (confirm for freddo) and rehid again, just as well as it was before. Doing this twice in one day though gives you dirty fingers.

Read fred's log and was again suspicious of wildlife muggles. Took a quick flick on the mtb to the gz and found it safe and sound at the right place. it is well camo'd still.
Found the tree location. No cache found though. The wombat seems to be back and may have hidden it far too well. Spent 30 minutes looking and checking. You would think it is pretty hard to miss a ammo can, but I guess I did. Never fear we will return.
With only the coords in the GPSr I didn't know it was a multi and had a quick look around GZ with no luck (obviously)
Hmmm, indeed a macropod muggle has been busy at the location of the physical cache. Cache has been moved around slightly to better accomodate the stash and the locals. Cache is now well covered, happy hunting.
Well we must thank Tweety2 for this cache cos for them we might still be a stage one (hang on did we go to stage one?) Well THANK YOU tweety2 but mind you we did find the little case you could not find before. TFTC maux faux and yes have been to the first stage before but not for the clue that we needed for the second stage.

Found the first stage of this one last month. But decided that we did not have the appropriate footwear to continue, this time we were prepared, and came up with the goods. Oh yeh, one of those resident kangaroos has decided that the cache hiding spot is a great place to dig a hole!! TFTC
Wars can be tough. I had the numbers (I think we all have them on our old pics don’t we) [?] But I was driving past so said hi to John and Bob again.
Off in the Camry to the first WPT. Drove as close as I could. Damn hot but the Camry didn’t let me down. Why walk when you can drive. The tracks were wide and solid so there were no real issues.
I could have mucked around projecting but the points were so close, I did what Mr Faux wanted me to. Found WP1 (pic).
Off to WPT2 over there …. And wula – checkmate and the war was over.
Nice one for this area. Neat and a nice cache.
Our thanx to Maux Faux – clear skies from TeamAstro.
Hi, Let you know that I found wp1 and havent time for final so will come back one day....
#7 of 10 today. Drove the hire car to GZ. Who said 4wd only. TNLNSL Thanks for the cache.
An interesting cache, certainly did not expect it to finish were it did. Done Bunya's trick and found the 2nd waypoint after we found the main cache. Somehow I missed Bunya's coin.
Took Japan doll figure
Left Compass keyring
Thanks Maux Faux great stuff.

Missed the second empty cache but found the real cache which was all that mattered. Bubbles 4 doubted that it was anywhere near here. Sorry Wombat I took the coin. Didn't have time to log it before now.

Nice multi – though I did it in the wrong order!
The visit to wp1 to get the numbers was OK – been there before.
Headed off to wp2, but just couldn’t spot the micro. I could see the trees 100m away so decided to try them out. Found the cache after trying the correct tree twice. The first time I was on the wrong side and thought I’d checked all the hiding spots – that’ll teach me! Liked the container and camo.
As I did the swaps in the shade it was pleasant to hear the birdsong nearby.
Thanks for the FTF prize. Took grasshopper, left opener. Picked up Maux Faux’s Memorial Bug TB and dropped off my Happy Ladybird geocoin.
On the way back I decided I’d better do the right thing and try to find the micro at wp2 – no problem this time.
Thanks maux faux.
