The cache container seems to be missing. Route in is causing a bit of erosion.
Went a hunting but no luck. Also think I found the cache spot (fitted the hint perfectly)but nothing to be found there. Will have to try again another time.
Found a pretty typical concealment right where we expected the cache to be, but no cache to be found, even with another half hour of searching...
Great spot though, definitely worth a visit. A DNF is really just an excuse to visit again in the future!

Had always dodged this one because of the description but today parked and realised how close it was. Slippery, dry scramble to the unusual structure and then GPS all over the place so used the hint to navigate to the well protected cache. At last, found it!

Hi Xorg and Pixelwarrior, thanks for the cache. A milestone today.
Took advantage of my usual Tuesday early knock-off, but as it's school holidays, there was no junior basketball to be on duty at, so jnrEP and I headed up here instead. A scramble up the hill, a moment or two atop the monolith, and then the cache was there for the taking.
All is well at GZ. Thanks for the adventure.

I was really not prepared for an adventure after work, but I did it anyway. Not sure how I got back down without sliding. Great little adventure. Even got snowed on
Great experience. I almost stepped out onto the monolith but caution took hold of me.
I thought this would be easy . After climbing past the cache I checked the GPS and realised that it was below me. Soon had the container in hand and signed .TFTC
Last cache of the year and it's been a busy day. We farewelled some family who have been here for a year but are now headed off in the converted coach for the next leg of their adventure. We met Friends for Queensland for coffee and then after lunch Stainless-steel-rat and I grabbed 2 GCA FTFs, one on the domain and one up the top of the mountain where it was traffic chaos.
On the way back I suggested we go down Strickland Ave to South Hobart for a coffee as the Brentwood Coffee Van was not at the springs like we hoped . SSR kindly pulled in here so I could find this cache. He had already found it but still made the climb behind me. It was a bit slippery after the rain but I struggled up without incident.
After the find we checked out the creek and spotted a small fresh water crayfish. All out photos were no good, blurred by the moving water and sunlight , just like all our pictures of the Tasmanian Tiger we saw too
Happy new year (almost) Xorg and Pixelwarrior and TFTC

Well I never had any idea this was even here and I had a great time looking down from on high before moving on to find the cache.
I spotted the cache from afar and after adding my name to the logbook I covered it a bit better so it cant be seen from a distance.
Thanks for the cache.

Found with the geo-son during a Sunday morning bike ride down from the summit of the mountain. Pretty wet and slippery for sure. Many thanks Xorg and Pixelwarrior
Our third cache ever, and oh so close to home! Thanks for introducing us to a new track. Beware of the giant stinging nettle on top of the monolith. Will bring a digger next time. TTFC
I first decided to go and check out the waterfalls as I'd never been there before. Plenty of trees down at the moment but managed to clamber over them and get to the base of the falls alright, beautiful spot! Then I got curious though and decided to go exploring further up river, this ended up with me falling into knee deep water due to killer combination of slippery rocks and poor shoe choice :O but oh well, the creek and rainforest made up for it and the weather was pretty warm
From hear I headed up and back in search of the cache, this proved to not be such an efficient route but it was all part of the adventure!! signed the log and then headed back to the road with no further dramas
thanks for this cache, it proved to be a fun detour on my way to Ferntree

Met a trio of yellow tailed black cockatoos on the way! Left a TB that is hopping off on a long journey. Who will grab it?!

******** MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! ********
After enjoying a banquet in town it was definitely time to walk it off We drove to the bottom of the falls and then roly poly, waddled our way up the stream. Well it felt like waddling with a belly as full as mine
At the bottom of the Monolith I realized that we had to go UP, so up we went. And then up some more and then up some more. Hmmm..... I think we did too much up. Back down the slope a little and then madman04 called out victoriously. Woohoo, the beasty was found. We signed the log and then replaced the cache as we had found it.

Beautiful day, Quick find for the Cheetah. We all enjoyed the little climb up the hill. Thanks for the cache
Yay. Been here before many years ago before geocaching. Someones sauntered past recently judging by the footprints but no geocachers for a few months. Cache found easily and in good nick. TNLN, TFTC
Recent disturbance nearby from muggles I suspect as the last log was months ago. Cache found easily in good condition. I suspect the track is a little more difficult than it used to be due to the large number of trees across the old track. Came up here many years before geocaching, a lovely spot. TNLN, TFTC
I had attempted this cache months before but when I arrived there was a Muggle photographer there and I had some kids with me. I did attempt to head up anyway but abandoned it as it seemed to difficult. This time I was surprised how easy it was. Once I got up the bank I rested to get my bearings only to realise the cache was right next to me.
Found on a mild Sunday afternoon ride/walk/drive. Rain stayed away thankfully. Signed Log. TNLN. Thanks. Not very familiar with this part of the mountain, and had only ever ridden past this point, without knowing there was a point of interest so close. Missed the better way to reach the cache, so had a steep scramble up. Quick find; all dry inside the cache final container. Easier path taken back to raod.
We got to the Monolith but on looking round the far side realised that this was not going to be best way up, nevertheless up that soft unstable slope we went. Return was on well trodden pad. TFTC Xorg and Pixelwarrior
On a warmish day at the start of Autumn we went back to Chimney Pot Hill area to do the caches we ran out of time for on the last visit the Fern Tree area. The plan was to also include a few on the way back down through South Hobart. We nearly came unstuck with it all though mostly because of the time it took us to do the Barad puzzle cache at Chimney Pot. Nevertheless we managed to get them all done.

I've had my eye on this cache for a long time, but have usually not had time for it when I've been in the area, or have been feeling a bit wary about tackling it. Today, however, with SG-3 to provide some moral support I was a bit more prepared to give it a shot and up we went.... After enjoying the views from the top, I found the cache quickly thanks to the hint.
Returned to wrangle this one into submission today. Wet & slippery conditions again so geomum & geokid waited in the car whilst geodad & friend Drat1964 braved the cache. A quick find at gz, took butterfly, left duck & mini erasers. TFTC
Given the description, in particular the unreliability of GPS units in the area, we thought we were going to have some difficulty trying to locate this cache. Luckily cacher instinct kicked in and a quick survey of the area as we ascended led to a relatively quick find. An interesting area, one we were not aware of. TFTC Xorg and Pixelwarrior
A thorough search by geodad & geokid gave no result. Better luck next time. [B)]
Found eventually. It took way longer than it should have to find this cache. At one stage we were 5m apart going in opposite directions and still had 10m to reach GZ. Go figure.
Today Brucie and Freddo had the all clear to have a big day of caching while Sally, two of the tadpoles and I went to the Salamanca Markets. They made the most of it and this was one of the caches they successfully targetted - thankyou.
I walked up the nearby Inglewood Fire Trail to retreive a gnome, then continued along Middle Fire Trail to find this cache. What a pretty and peaceful area. Having come from the 'wrong' direction I then continued to make my way to the top of The Monolith from the 'wrong' side. It was rather wet, slippery and probably slightly dangerous. From the top I found the correct path back to the bottom and then just had to negotiate my way across the rapidly flowing water to head back up the track.
Awesome with little gps to speak of. A great cache in an amazing place!

Funny on our first day in town we stopped here to take a photo of the water pouring down the creek after the massive rainfall. Stopped here again and went for a wounder. A very peacefull location just of town, worth the stop if not just for the beauty of the area.

Ah, the adventures you can have within 70m of your car. SG-3 and I took what looked like the best route and soon found ourselves atop the monolith looking over the creek below. SG-3 ventured out onto the end while I was a little more circumspect (=wussy). With our GPSrs being a little hiccuppy on the steep slope and under the tree cover we resorted to the hint, and, after interpreting it to refer to where we already were, we soon had the cache in hand. This was my 999th GCA+GC cache, and I was glad to visit this lovely spot on the way to my 1000th. Gotta love the Mountain. Thanks Xorg and Pixelwarrior.
TFTC. Needed a bit of a search to find this at the end of a nice walk thru from Old farm Rd. Swapped butterflies and left mushroom coin for sylvester.
Slope was very slippery due to recent heavy rain. Anyway found cache took geocoin and eraser left Sylvester. Tftc. Found be geo kid e before I could say we are at gz.
Hi Ya Both; Found and logged this cache at 1534hrs. GPS put me on the wrong side of the river at
first, but soon found. Impressive drop; TFTC and cheers OldSaint.

This was I thought a real hidden away little area.
I've been visiting over here for the past week and have been sightseeing a few waterfalls here and there.
This one to me was a real gem, I'm so glad a cache was placed here otherwise I wouldn't have visited.
The morning was cool and crisp and the wind was blowing pretty well too.
At times the wind gave the sound of a HUGE amount of water coming down the mountain.
The GPS had me jumping around a little at first but then it finally figured out the right spot to be.
The cache is all ok so I dropped off a geocoin. Signed the log and felt pleased I'd visited this area.

Shows you the value of reading the description, clue and previous logs. I spent an age below the falls, walked around the monolith back to the creek then did the required reading and BINGO! Easy find. TNLN. TFTC!
As we approached GZ it looked very dangerous. Upon reading the hint we realized that there was no need to go too close to the sheer drop or on the monolith at all. What a beautiful area this is. Thanks for bringing us here X&P.
A nice easy find after the last one!. Went to get this before with 2 Jr Geos in tow but could not find. This time found easily without even much of a search. Another great place on the mountain (below the mountain) TNLN
Fifth and last find after a great arvo of walks and finds in the area with Norms Quest. As with most caches what an intersting spot and hide.

Spent the first ten minutes or so with only two satellites and a 2D fix. The GPSr was all over the place. Then I took the hint - thanks, it was definitely needed. That done, it was a bit of a (vertical) doddle, really. Found the cache, and spoke soothingly to the resident arachnids who obligingly moved off. TNLNSL. TFTC, Xorg &Pixelwarrior.
The first of three today on the MTB, up the road, off on some fire trails, and back down the road.
Thanks to looking at a poor Google map, I thought I would be able to start here and linke through to Wellington Lows - A, but after carrying the bike about 50m uphill, I gave that up as a bad joke and chained it to a tree.
Then I started heading bush. And further bush. And further. Finally I got the iPhone out, and got a GPS fix and realised just how badly I'd stuffed up.
Coming back, I found my target not far from where I'd left the bike!
An astounding bit of rock, and with the recent rain, fairly slippery, so I edged out for a quick peek before picking up the cache and signing the log.
Nothing taken, nothing left.
Thanks for a really interesting spot.

First quick find of the day, had an hour or so spare between brekkie and lunch appointments so decided to knock a few caches off the mountain.
I've passed by this area many times, but never explored past the car park. Very vertigo inducing at the top, not the bast cache to do in thongs! Thanks.

First find on a Tassie trop with Chip. We were a little confused at first, and Gizmp was very cinfused, but we got there in the end!
Cheers.
Cheers.
Found on a great holiday with Hoojar. We were a little confused as to whether it meant at the start of the falls or from the track... but we worked it out.
This was great fun, and I'm sure caching is going to cure me of my fear of heights soon...
Went way too far up in the end, too busy looking around to watch the GPSr. Recorrected and found the cache easily.
Thanks for the cache - find #97!

Didn't use the clue and we were looking in the wrong spots. Great little place to explore. Had a fun time anyways before heading to Salamanca Markets. Thanks for the cache.
Final find of the day. Near dark when there's been recent rain probably isn't the ideal time to find this one, especially when you're accompanied by a schnauzer who decides that The Monolith is the perfect platform for a danse!
Lots of water in the Rivulet; thank you for the cache!

After reaching the part where you sit down on the rock and dangle your legs over the edge wondering where the cache is....
Mrs CP heard a high girlish scream coming from somewhere below her. Thinking they were about to be joined by some teenage girls, Mrs CP tried to look nonchalant until she realised it was Mr CP who was doing the screaming.
Seems like the area is covered with wasps, and Mr CP sustained two stings before he hot footed it out of there.
More of a 'not going back there' than a DNF for Mr Pig, I'm sorry to say.

A typical quick find by gspblu, as rebulus and I struggled just to keep up.
After logging our find we continued up the track just for fun and then enjoyed the steep, slippery slide back to the car.

Great Monolith - and once we spotted it , it was obvious! Found with Beaglegirl on enjoyable day on the mountain. Anyone know what the "6" and "8" hanging from the bush on the top mean?
GPS kept telling us to go up the Northern side. Eventually followed our instincts(and clue). Found easily then in company of Genii. What a great spot.
We were here about a month ago looking for the last of the Wellington Lows without coordinates just the clue(found today)and thinking what a great spot for a cache.

I listened to a discussion about The Monolith last night at the Carlyle gathering and being my last free Tuesday night until next summer, I decided to go get this cache.
The GPSr was pointing to the northern side of the rivulet so putting what I had learnt to use, I found myself standing on top of The Monolith.
Searched for a while, brain was somewhere else so had a consultation with the phone.
Found it. T ball, left eraser.
Thanks XnP. I did get another set of co-ords whilst I was there. Cachers following could try S42 54.495 E147 15.756 and see where that takes you.

Gee, you've got to get up early in the morning to beat Dippy.
At the risk of repeating everything Dippy said... It's a great spot for a cache, satellite coverage was practically non existant, and the clue was spot on.
TNLN.
Well done Xork & Pixelwarrior.

When I'd delayed going away for the night till today, and then a new cache popped up, I couldn't sleep in - so got up and set off. Quickly realised GPS wasn't going to be of use so turned that off and used hint, which was spot on. Found cache, took FTF sticker(first FTF souvenir that I've got!), left hot dog eraser. Wondered if I'd have a sit and dangle my legs over the monolith but from above it didn't look like there was much underneath it: I had visions of my sitting on it causing a great big rockfall. Went for a wander over and up, and along to the Inglewood fire trail, then back and admired the falls and the monolith from below. It's amazing!! (Don't think one body sitting over the edge would have had much effect...) Loved the area - I've never been here before!!! Thanks very much X and P. Loved it.
