Nice to do some VC caches on an ANZAC weekend. On our trip to Goulburn and back. TFTC Big Matt and Shell.
Found it on our way home from the Snowy's. A nice quick find but the container is cracked and the log sheet looks like snails have been chewing on it. Nice spot with no one around today. TFTC
Finally went back 4 months later to find the camper van to not be there! So I found really easy on the way back from nationals at Thredbo mtb!
We have returned from Canada to discover a few more Australian caches! What a great way to explore the "land down under."
Drove right to GZ. Curious as to why there are so many old neglected picnic tables and benches placed about in the bush. Looks like this may have been a lot bigger rest area at one time.
Thanks for another hide Big Matt and Shell!

Heading to Goulburn today, searching for caches on the way.
A great story of this mans bravery, all are heroes.
A favourite point for the series, they all need to be remembered
Thanks for placing this cache Big Matt and Shell

Found with Bad Jedi on the way home from Canberra tonight.
This ended up being easy to find after crossing the road as the gpsr first had me on the other side.
Thanks for all the information about our heroes of war who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
TFTC Big Matt & Shell.

Making the trip from Canberra to Penrith today and thought I'd grab a few caches on the way in an attempt to achieve the challenge cache: GC3QPJ Well Rounded sized cache challenge (obtaining 5 different sizes in one day). I decided I'd take it one step further and see if I could achieve all 6 sizes in one day.
This was my second find, made at 0855 this morning.
Stopped almost next to the cache and passed over it on my first few looks. Cache is in tact and log book still has plently of room.
This rest area doesn't seem to be as well furnished as some of the other more recent rest areas and seems to be tucked away quite nicely. It was a nice place to stop, retreive and cache and have a think about those who gave so much.
Thanks for the cache.

Sorry that this is a generic log, but I'm catching up on a year's worth of logs. I'm sure I really enjoyed this cache. Thank you for placing it.

This one & the other one nearby were well placed for a break on our way home from Canberra today. My car GPS is a little confused around here - it thought the old road was the new one & tried to misdirect us .
Thanks

Nice and easy find on Australia Day.
Enjoyed my lunch in the winery nearby.

My mate Knightech and I decided we would like a bit of Geocaching, and also to try out his new Ford territory again. It's a nice day for it - not too hot, with a bit of cooling breeze. So, here's our second one. This was a quick and easy grab, once we found the highway exit. TFTC!! Now I know where there are vineyards, for future reference!!!
A nice easy find on a pleasant day of caching.
Shame about the rubbish that people seem intent on dumping in these spots.

Road here appears to be hardly used at all! Pulled up right next to where the GPS told us to. Thanks for the cache

A quick jog up the road from a nearby cache gave me a start on my exercise for the year.
It's nice to have 2 caches on one spot. Thanks for the quick refreshing stop on our way from Canberra to Sydney
Tried to find it but a camper van was parked right next the cache and I went to get It an he yelled funny things at me, was a highlight to the day haha
Glad to find the cache, but wondered where the rest area was … good to have the cache notes about Gurney.
We cached this morning in dismal, drizzly weather and were hoping that it would have cleared by the time we got out of the "mapping the World" exhibition but unfortunately it had deteriorated so we decided that we would only chase caches that were only a short distance from the car.
We pulled up and Diane jumped out while I headed off to do a u turn and find somewhere safe to park. I then realised that it was a dead end road so parking was no longer an issues. Diane located the cache, again headed a good distance away from the popular area and after adding our name to log we went onto to pay our respects to Private Gurney.
Thanks for the cache, another worthy one in this series.

Found during my stay in NSW. First week we were at Sydney, since I went there to attend a conference. We did quite a lot of walking around this astonishing town. Most of the caches were just small mint boxes or nanos, but that is to be expected in such a big city. I'm especially thankful for all the bigger caches that were easier to find, since my time for the geocaching was somewhat limited.
After the first week we rented a car and went to explore the NSW national parks. Since the Blue Mountains were closed due to bush fires (hope all is well now), we went a 1000km to see Mungo park. We saw a lot of kangaroos, emus, wombats and some koalas in the wild. On our way back to Sydney we visited Canberra and some beautiful parks north of it. We enjoyed the drive-in view that allowed us to see more beauty in shorter time. We spent last day in Royal National Park where we fooled around at a beach and in the waves. We did a short walk on a cost track, which showed as how beautiful the ocean and the coast really are.
Unfortunately, we had to head back to our country ;-( I hope we get to visit NSW again some day.
Thanks for every cache there.

I did some of the Remembrance Driveway caches by BM&S on my way to Sydney. I saw many other caches on my GPS display along the route. But the Remembrance Driveway series was placed where it was safe to Stop, Revive, Survive and Sign. Therefore I ended up five times at a cache of this series. TFTC BM&S!
Geocache #808.
Found on Friday, 13th September 2013 at 5:21 PM.
Conditions: overcast.
Current streak #45 days.
Today's finds 35 of 46.
My 707th find for The Great Scouts Australia Geocaching Competition 2013. With just over a week of the competition remaining, I had some leave owing and decided to take it for a geo-adventure in the Australian Capital Territory and Canberra. What a way to celebrate Canberra's centenary, as well as the Federal election!
On the sixth and final day of my trip, I continued the search around the Canberra area in the morning and then picked up a number on the way back to Sydney in the evening. Once at GZ, it was a quick find and I soon had the CIH and signed the log. TFTC Big Matt and Shell.

Nice quick find on the way home from a great caching day in Canberra...TFTC
A nice quick find today. Visited the other Gurney cache in April but forgot to grab this one till I was on the way out the driveway so have waited for our next visit to the area. TFTC and good to see the old road again!
Stopped by to nab a cache here (amongst other things) - only to find someone was "camped" right on top of it. So it was a great thrill to realise there were TWO caches here. What's more this one was part of a series we could collect over a few trips. Yay, bonus!
Great hide had me stumped till I decided for a fast thoroughly check of only spots I thought possible got straight away. Great hide although not near the rest stop. Tftc
Nice spot to get out and stretch the legs and bring up find number 2800. Tftc tnln
The remains of the old main roads are so charismatic. A little junky though, at GZ. Wish traffic was like this all the time! Thanks
Nice little hide. Introduced some friends to the geocaching world on a drive to Skoda Stadium for the AFL. Carn the Eagles!!!! TFTC.
Grabbed after visiting a friend over Saturday night, now heading back. It was a great catch up, and a great caching trip. I've really enjoyed taking little breaks along the way, and enjoying the different areas, some you'd never know existed without caching.
Had a lovely walk through the forest to the cache - were just disappointed that it wasn't in the forest - it was at a way worse area with a road and guardrail nearby. We had even seen a perfect log for a cache 20m away!! Oh well this was a great place for a rest stop because we got our rest stop as well as two caches. TFTC
Found this one on a trip to Sydney for the day. Nice easy one I virtually drove right up to Interesting to learn about the bravery of Arthur Gurney-amazing man! Took dinosaur, left army man (aptly!). Thanks for the cache Big Matt and Shell
An amazing story of a very brave soldier! Very peaceful location- cannot believe this used to be the main road between Canberra and Sydney!
Found today on the way to Lerida Winery for a tour with GrimRaider and Joolay. We broke a windscreen around here about 30 years ago and pulled into this rest stop to clear a space in the shattered glass so G could see to drive. The road and windscreens have improved greatly since then. Nice hide and fun to see the old road. TFTC Big Matt and Shell TN and left a personalised magnet
This was a real nostalgia trip that is for sure. I still remember the old Lake George road very well. The Infamous claim to fame was that there were 13 lives lost on this road in a fairly short time. Very glad to see that now it is more renowned for it's good caches!
TFTC Big Matt and Shell! Went on to a great tasting at Lerida Winery. If you want a great tasting experience, then you should get on down.
