Logs
A quick find after finding a way through the prickles. The container is cracked but the log is still dry. A good view as well, although there are a few trees in the way. Thanks for the cache Team Bubble Tea!
TFTC! Great walk and view! The top of the container is broken but remarkably the log is still dry
A nice stretch of the legs and a quick find just before a heavy shower came. I wish I'd read previous logs as I would have brought a replacement container. Nice views of the mountain. TFTC!Cheers,The Hancock Clan
Found but container needs replacing as it is broken and contents too wet to sign. Take care when lifting as its upside down and lid is not attached. Also be aware of snakes around this area
Was very fun and a real hunt! Cache has seen some better days and might need a new notepad and container. TFTC
After the CITO this morning SSR and I grabbed some lunch in South Hobart and took up it to the picnic area at start of Chimney Pot Hill Rd. The vague plan had been to do some other caches lower down but we both still had this one unfound so decided, as we were here, to tackle it. We followed a good track UP UP UP until just above GZ before a little bush bash. Found quite easily. Dried out the cache as best we could and replaced it carefully.
I still have two Team Bubble Tea (available) caches to find.

We don't know how we have never found this one before, but it's one of those just of the track enough to not be on the way anywhere, but today we made a B line for this one and were very pleased to find this 15 years old cache still in place.
A nice quiet Saturday caching with a simple start of a CITO on a beach followed by a small clean up.

Visiting from Sydney with 3 kids and took the opportunity to find a few caches in the area. My 4 year old is crazy about dinosaurs so we just had to find this one! There were definitely a lot of prickly plants en route to the cache, but we were well rewarded with a cache and a selection of Dino toys for the little guy. He dutifully made his swap and happily gained a plateosaur. TFTC!
Note to CO: Cache container lid is cracked open, seal is missing, and the lid requires replacement.

Was going to go for a walk up the mountain but decided to get a few caches around the mountain instead. Cache was dry even thou container was out in the open and has a hole in the lid.
This was a fun bit of bush bashing. Had a slight hiccup when my GPS accuracy suddenly dropped from +/-2m to +/-12m but I got there in the end. The provided pen didn't work but luckily I had my own in my pocket. TFTC.
I enjoyed the calorie burn to this one after a slog up to this hide.
Made my way to this one's GZ being very cautious about Danger-Noodles or Wriggly Sticks. Thankfully there were none sighted so i sat myself down and signed the log constantly swishing March Flies away... they are most persistent! My hand is quicker so their population is dwindling... you'd think they'd get the message ha ha
SL at 12:31 on Monday 7 February 2022.
The cache container has lid damage but if stored upside down no rain will get in and any form of condensation will drain out, this was the case coz all within was dry upon discovery Post signing the log it was re-hidden in that manner
TFTC and for showing me this trail, Team Bubble Tea

Did a bit of bush bashing, luckily didn't come across anything too prickly!! Curious what makes the log cute lol!! Thanks for a fun adventure!
Took the geokids out to the area and thought we would pick up a few caches. A bit of a climb and a final scramble but always rewarding to get the smilie. TFTC
Maybe there’s an easier way in to this cache because the way we went wasn’t T1.5 more like 2-2.5. Enjoyed the hunt though.

Well, that was quite a mission, but we found it! Head off quickly before the snow starts falling! Thanks.

Found with Mtrax on our second day in Hobart! The weather was overcast, but the rain held off! A nice cache here - but terrain is certainly more like a T3!!! Also, the container is broken, and needs to be replaced. thanks TBT.
I picked an interesting day to search for this cache; it was raining then sunny then raining again, and the wind was fierce and bitter. But I found the cache. The lid is damaged.
I walked to the top of the hill afterwards, and it got windier, I almost regretted it. I'm glad I had a hat, wished I had a beanie.

Found on a caching trip to Hobart - enjoyed the walk in this area.
An easy find at GZ.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Had looked at this one many times in the past but each time had decided that there was not enough time (or energy). Today made the way fairly easily (long pants helped) to a spot some 80 mts below the cache. Well nothing for it but to go up and as you all know 80 mts up never seems to reduce!!! Eventually got a small number, paused and then spotted the cache. Signed and returned (with more cover). Climb down a little easier but the quarry slope was quite slippery.

Thanks for the cache Team Bubble Tea. The GeoGSP and I enjoyed the walk to this cache, haven't been along many of the tracks in this area and it was lovely to discover the trails up here. Some lovely views of the mountain today. All is well with the cache.
Found today on a walk in the area.
It was out in the open a little bit so I replaced it in the spot it looked like it was meant to be nestled in.
Tnln. Cache contents and log dry.

Found it after a thunderstorm on a hot summer day. Our very first geocache! Three year old Leo was very excited about his dinosaur treasure. TFTC
We decided to go caching around the Chimney Pot Hill Road area and this cache was one of fifteen for the day that we found. TFTC
I usually think of cute as small. sometimes the tallest can also be the cutest. tftc. Now to rush home before the dinos get me!!
logged this cache late this afternoon whilst doing a circuit of a few caches in the area
thanks for the cache

Found it We enjoyed the little walk up the hill and then into the bush. Thanks for the cache.
I took the wrong route in, as I ended up ascending the left hand side of the quarry face. On the way back I found the correct route. I didn't enjoy the prickles on my bare legs and wondered if it was necessary for the cache to be hidden so far from the track.
As we approached the site Peter walked around the suspected hiding spot but didn't see it. Sue checked and said "how come you didn't see this plainly visible container" Well it was a green one and Peter is colour blind. Even when Sue pointed it out it took him a while to see it.. On a warmish day at the start of Autumn we went back to Chimney Pot Hill area to do the caches we ran out of time for on the last visit the Fern Tree area. The plan was to also include a few on the way back down through South Hobart. We nearly came unstuck with it all though mostly because of the time it took us to do the Barad puzzle cache at Chimney Pot. Nevertheless we managed to get them all done.

If I had time I would have made a Muttaburra out of rocks near the cache, be a great cache with a serious dino(s?) guarding it , might go back there sometime. Or maybe another cacher(s) finding it might like to use their creative talents with the many rock near the cache. TFTC Team Bubble Tea, great spot to find a Muttaburra.
The initial parts of the track were easy walking but after that there were numerous vague tracks some of which disappeared for a length before reappearing further on - sometimes we wondered if we had found the continuation of the track or another track. We could not get within 50m of GZ walking a track so we bush bashed the last 100m uphill to the cache. The combination of prickly bush and scree made it a slowish walk. Once near GZ the hint and accuarte coordinates led to a quick find. TFTC Team Bubble Tea
Z found it and we can see our house I think we took the hard way following the contour.
I looked in around and under all logs, cute and otherwise, without luck. Given the clear directions, I would say that this cache has gone missing, although I'd love to be proved wrong.
The quarry is a lot safer now, with better fencing and clear signage.

I was here doing a few other nearby caches and thought I just had to do this one.
Reason being I've visited Muttaburra and even seen the replica of the critter in town, I think I even did a cache nearby.
Made the trek into this from the road below so had to put a little effort in as the Wallaby tracks I was following went here there and everywhere.
Eventually got there in the end and found the cache nicely tucked in its spot.

Whodiwhatwhere?!
Determined (read stubborn, grumpy and obsessed) to find this after 2 DNF's.
I'm not sure my knees will forgive me this one! Took the hard way in and easy way out and I'm sure I was within 1 metre on multiple occasions while my iphone gps sent me dancing!
First winter snowfall due today. Think it's time for me to get off The Mountain!

We spent the morning at the Museum before going caching, so we made sure to pay our respect to the fossil of Mr Burrasaurus while there. I seem to deliberately avoiding this one when it first came out because I thought it sounded like it might be a bit too risky for my boys. In the end though, it wasn't any problem at all thanks to the clear description of how to get to the cache (and all the geotrails certainly made it easier to navigate the prickles!). We took a couple of dinosaurs, and left a dinosaur, a crocodile, and some lovingly hand-crafted (by my 7 year old) dinosaur stickers. On this Ridgeway/Chimney Pot Hill run today, it was great to find a cache that a) had swaps, and b) wasn't water logged. Oh, and we loved the decorations of the container!
The 4th for the day on the mountain. Compared to ice House the walk was easy but geez those prickles were a real pain. This is a cache NOT to do in shorts. Easy find when at GZ. Thanks Stumbleduponit for a great day out. TNLN TFTC
OUCH... our fourth for the day after a short wlak compared to those found on the mountain, nice spot and more ouch on the way back for Norms Quest and I. TFTC TNLNSL.
It was a lovely morning for a search for the prickly one. I followed the instructions to the letter and had no problems at all. The prickles of Acacia verticilata were certainly noticable and in Spring the flowers of "Prickly Moses", its common name, are a golden wonder to behold. TNLN and TFTC Team Bubble Tea.
Spent a while looking around wrong cute log. Tftc. Cache is ok please ignore my finger miss press

Found with the whole family - well most of them - some of the smaller ones blubbed about the prickles.
Noone's going to stumble over this by accident!
Had no appropriate swaps, so TNLN. Thanks.

I muttaburrasaurussed this cache at 1700hrs as my 215th cache find. Didn't get prickled but enjoyed the trek in to it. Shame the trees hide a full view of Mt Wellingtonsaurus but near the quarry top sated my photographic needs completasaurusly. TFTC and cheers OldSaint.
My goodness felt like a mountain goat trying to get this one. Was very determined after that treck up the hill. Lovely spot looking out to a house use to live in at Fern Tree. Thanks
I remember a visit to Muttaburra a few years ago and got to see the one they have on display there
I remember a visit to the Tasmanian museum a few days ago and got to see the one they have on display there too
So my hopes were high that on this trek I might just spot another one
Well maybe not
But I could imagine I saw one !! [^]
Unfortunately I didn't imagine the prickles up here [:o]
Definitely the most ferocious ones I've met on this trip.
Note to self: Wear long pants and keep the short for Queensland where the plants are all soft as
TFTC
I left the "EMIGRANT" USA geocoin and took Globby the Trotter TB and Bunya's Roadrunner geocoin.

I felt a bit sorry for all the other hint items in the area, are they not cute also. They may get hurt feeling if they ever found out.
I was stupid and thought I knew better than the hiders and went straight from the car park. 100m up the hill was not a good idea. We do like our dinosaur caches down in Hobart - this is the third by my memory! Thanks.

We decided to try for this one in spite of threatening rain, and sure enough it was raining by the time we got to GZ, so we didn't put one of our usual stamps in the log, just signed our name like everyone else! TNLN
little tackers wanted to go bush but wasnt to keen on the prickle scrub thanks tnln
Didnt seee the track going in, so had an interesting climb up the quarry face.
Glad I had the long trousers on, prickles were bad enough anyway.
Good advice at the end. Cache found quickly
Many thanks.

Legs are burning from all the prickles, they're going to need some TLC tonight LOL
Didn't read the hint until I'd spent a while looking around, and found it pretty quickly after that! Too obsessed with rocks I think

This cache made me realise how UNFIT I've become!! Followed instructions re tracks, which made things good, the prickly 50m or so back to the track from the cache seemed prickly enough though! Couldn't help thinking that those cachers who have found it at night must be bordering on crazy???!!! Thanks TBT.
interesting spot and love the great mountain views!

The advice not to leave the track until 50m from the cache was good and ensured mimimum prickle tramping. The prickles aren't fun on the legs, but Lottie informed us that they are much worse for dogs! HandsomeMan took pity on her and carried her back from GZ to the track. Then they waited at the bottom of the steepest bit of track hoping to see my up to my usually un-co antics. But I DIDN'T go down on my bottom! Woo-hoo!
Thank you for the cache.

Arrived at the parking area and took off towards the cache without reading the description. Suffice to say, we know there are 2 strands of barbed wire at the top of the quarry on the eastern side.
Found after picking up every prickle in the area.

AS it was already quite late (or early)one more cache seemed like a good idea. Red Tag obtained the relevant information and off we went. Going was quite easy and the prize did not take too long to find.

Returning from the Peninsula we made a phone call to headquarters (he never sleeps) to check on the status of this new cache.
It was well after midnight, so considering there were no posted logs we went for the FTF.
After a quick coffee at Salamanca to wake us up, we loaded our GPS’rs with new batteries and off we went.
Fortunately gspblu picked the right path each time and within no time we were at GZ. Didn't notice the prickles and the barbed wire wasn't even close to my head!
Again he found the cache before me and I felt he more than deserved to put his name on the first page of the new unsigned log book BUT.....
TASGUNSMITH......you bugger.....bet you left doing you log just so ‘other’ obsessed cachers like us would go for a FTF at 2am. Well your plan worked!!...You’ll keep

He He He I am a bad boy aren't I...... busted for not logging straight away....shame on me... what was I thinking.
I couldn't resist this FTF as I was already in town. The only problem was that my fenix torch was at home and the backup in the car was a poor excuse, will I go or wont I[?]
I got to the parking coords and all was silent, deserted and black. Headed up the track got to the quarry and couldn't see more than two metres in front and as I didn't have the description just decided to follow the arrow. This was definitely the shortest way but by no means the easiest terrain wise. A ten minute search at GZ had the goods in sight(nice container) and yes FTF@ 7.50pm. Which way back as there was no track coming in? Straight down seemed the logical way and yes it was straight down on to the posterior a couple of times. I was definitely glad to get to the road but not without one more challenge of getting down the near vertical bank.
Thanks for the cache TBT and the nocturnal activities.
