Roger dodger. Providing my wife doesn't go in to labour this weekend, It will be replaced next week.
I think this one is gone - all we found at GZ was a magnet stuck to the guardrail.
Did not see any bats - but generally you see them flying along the river af the sun has gone Down.
Was about to give up on this, but then there was something, that needed to be checked. And yes - there it was. The lid was taped on with red tape, but the log seemed to be fine. I think it was close to be full though.

Out and about on our way to an engagement party.. Thought we would grab a few as we where running early.. Love the bats.. Well I do.. GeoWife, not so much..
Parked in designated spot, wandered over, my daughter and I were looking at the flying fixes flying around, they were quite active this afternoon. As I was busily looking up, my daughter handed me a tin and said I found a micro, oh I said that's what I'm looking for, where was it asked, just on the ground over there she replied. I'm not sure where I put it back is the correct spot but its close enough I think. Interesting little critters they are. Tftc

Awww, how cute are these guys...but then I don't live next door to them. Mighty hard trying to get a photo as they fly by, way too fast to get close but I sort of got one in flight. Spent ages here, Mrs M thinks they are are gorgeous. We haven't seen them in WA but we think they are there somewhere. Nice easy find but the magnet is losing its attraction to its host post. TFTC
# 6158 Found on our 2013 winter escape trip to Qld.
We are in Ipswich for a few days to have a good look around.
No muggles around here today and another quick find logged and off again.
Another day of the 31 day challenge completed as well.
Thanks for the cache penguiny,
Roostaman.

Found with my geodad. He has just joined so this was his first official find. Good on you REMSJW!
We parked in the cul-de-sac on Good Friday afternoon and found the cache quickly. I would have liked more exploration of the area, but that will have to wait. TFTC and letting me know this is here.
Wandered back and forth trying to get the GPS to settle. Finally looked where I thought it might be and what do you know, there it was. Thanks penquiny
This one too more looking than it should have . The geokids loved the bats. So, so many bats . TFTC penguiny
Parked up and headed for a look around before realizing where we needed to be. I had read the clue and had this in hand as the others kept walking away. Waited for them to realise, they soon turned and noticed. Signed log and admired the colony.
Had to move on as we woke up some of the residence. Amazing area. TFTC.

This should have been an easy find but we didn't spot the cache so headed off down the hill to inspect a tree that looked a likely spot for a cache. After looking around for a bit we headed back up the slope for an easy find second time around.

Nice to see the colony has setup here, and there isn't too many. A quick find on the edge of the reserve.
thanks, Robmc.

# 1161. What a great place to put a cache. We arrived in the afternoon and all was quiet. But then they took to the air and it was wonderful to see them in flight and hear the swoop of their wings. I like the cache name too - a clever play on words. TFTC
I wondered what the cache name meant. I thought it might refer to the bats which were aplenty at this cache.
Nice quick find in the obvious spot.
thanks penquiny

I certainly have a soft spot for these little critters and it was beautiful to see the colony preparing for their nightly outing. A great spot to highlight with a cache and thanks to all the staff and volunteers at the centre to make this area possible. Thanks penguiny
Quick visit to Ipswich and time for a quick find. This fitted the bill nicely. TFTC
Out caching with Captain Terror & Net88 grabbing what was left in the area.... this one came up for me and I jumped out in the drizzle leaving the others dry in the car... was pretty easy to find in the first place I looked I always find these colonies fascinating!

As per my previous note i will always hold this cache with special regard, TFTC! A cool place in ipswich that not many locals even seem to know about...
A shout out to the family i met here yesterday who let in me in on their secret geo-lives. As soon as they told me i was hooked before i had even started. And today i found my first cache with my family (billabong tb hotel) and we all sat around and opened it together and chose our new geo-names. What an amazing interest you all share and i am so thrilled to now be on the same little adventure! Thank you so much to that family - maybe we will one day cross paths again and i can thank you all in person! I hope its ok to include this note here but this location will now hold a special place in my heart...i cant wait to come back with hubby and the kids and find the actual cache! Irony.
There was a real racket as we arrived at GZ. We looked around and then noticed the very large number of bats in the nearby trees - they were the noisy ones, very noisy. The cache was a quick find and the contents were in good condition. TFTC penguiny.
Cache in good condition, but you cannot say the same for some of the trees which have been stripped of foliage.

Yeeha! Always nice to have an appropriate cache to my name. With Iolanthe, Net88 and Brother Colin on our trip around Ipswich and after parking nearby, headed towards this one. Nothing too hard, had it in hand after a few seconds. Lots of bats around indeed, but I was happy for them to to be some distance away. TFTC Penguiny.
Out and about with Net88, Captain Terror & IolantheK in the Ipswich area.
Another fantastic stop for the day. Great park. We definitely saw a few bats in the trees nearby.
The cache was dry and OK.
Thanks for the cache.

Today I headed out Ipswich way with Brother Colin, Net88 and Captain Terror.
Very appropriate place, seeing as we had the Captain with us Knew exactly where to look as soon as we arrived Must be some smart comment to make about certain people being a bit batty, but I shall hold my tongue!

Saw the pteropus'. Nice quick find whilst out caching with brother Colin, Iolanthek and captain terror. We pulled up and new where to go, sure enough there it was. Thanks for the cache
TFTC. Got this during the day so there was not too much activity from the locals, or muggles.

This one has had me stumped for ages, couldn't understand why everyone kept finding them but me...

Made a quick stop here on the way home. Pulled up near GZ and I soon found the caches hidey hole. It was sticking out a bit, so I placed it in a bit further once I signed the log.
Went to take a look at the bats too, there weren't too many out in the trees today so we didn't stay too long.

We have just started and this was our first time. The 4 yr old was very excited to find treasure
Found quickly. Cache in good order. Lived near ippy all my life and have not gone to see the bat colony. TFTC
It took me a few detours before I arrived at the parking area. It was getting late in the afternoon and I could hear the noise starting down in the hollow.
I was glad the GPS was pointing in a different direction although I was mindful of the nearby residence.
Luckily the cache came to hand quickly and I put my mark on it and retreated before the residents (human and other) became aware of my presence.
Thanks Penguiny. I have not seen an area designed to the flying foxes like this one has been.

A fantastic confidence builder for the kids and i. Found it easily within 30 seconds of the car! Great to check out all of the flying foxes having a sleep. TFTC. Signed log and left everything behind.
I think we are the 100th to log this cache. Have had a bit of a fascination for these critters for some time. Even climbed a mountain and stood in the plight path while bats flew around us. Cool radar they have working...Thanks for taking us to this park.
Found it easily, will have to come back at dusk to the the little terrors, I will even bring my little terrors to see them too. Replaced the ziplock bag as it had more holes then plastic, and left a few little coins for the kiddies to find. Thanks so much for making me come here, I pass by on the next road often and as usual, had no idea this was here.
Easy find. Nice view from the area. Not so nice on a hot day like yesterday was.
I didn't realise bats were so big. It was nice to see them starting to move when I arrived at dusk. It's an interesting area. TFTC.
On a caching holiday with Teambooo (Geo-wife), Booo Booo (Geo-Daughter) and Glenwarra (Geo-in-Law). This was quickly found and in hand. TNLN-SL.
Thanks For The Cache
found this one while on a Geo-Trek Caching holiday with TeamBooo, Booo's Dad and Booo Booo to Queensland

Relogging this under individual account, previously a member of Gaz'n'Kab account.
The GPSr had a jumping all over the road for this one, but eventually settled on GZ. Very quickly had the cache and hand and ready to sign the log, when , we frogot the pen, scratched our names on the log book and took a picture of the logbook.
TFTC penguiny, loved the bats above!

TFTC.

Wow, I have never seen so many bats. When I put the cache back in it's hiding spot it made a sound loud enough to set lots of them flying. Luckily we didn't get hit by a bat bomb [^]

ARRRGH! This cache brought back memories of a recent trip to the NT, where we were billeted among a plague of these beasts! Couldn't escape that unique aroma [xx(]
I wonder how the local human residents cope with the noise and smell... Just glad it isn't me! Thanks for showing us this area, I was unaware of such a large colony living in local suburbia!

Found at 1330Hrs with bluegonz. Hmmm... there are lots and lots of them. Good to have a look at them but.... dont want to live there.
Thanks Penguiny.
Thanks Penguiny.
This certainly was an area with a difference. Of course my GPSr lead me along the bank to GZ. Some of the flying foxes were getting excited and I prayed none of them would see fit to use me for target practice. Came up with the beast afte a quick hunt. TFTC Penguiny - and a great little interesting area
If you like bats ,well this is the place to go .Great place to show the kids bats in the wild, very noisey little critters..
Wow!! What an amazing place, didn't even know it existed. It's awesome to see them fly across the river at the Riverheart Parklands at dusk. TFTC
Just got a new gps, so I thought I'd try it out...worked much better than my old one, got me to within a 1 metre of cache...whilst my old gps would have still had me foraging through the Nature Centre.
...I was just about to have a closer look when the whole neighbourhood decided to get home from work, so I was forced to desert, but I shall return at a later date!!
