I have been informed by ThomasS (thanks) that, as I suspected, this cache was well and truly destrtoyed in the recent fires. I will be back in Canberra sometime soon to plant another cache. Thanks to all who visited Caught in the ACT.
I'm temporarily disabling this cache, as I presume it may well have been fried in the bushfires. Not sure however. I'm not from Canberra, and may not be able to get there for a while. When the fires die down, can someone in the ACT please check on this one and let me know if it survived?
Found 10:05, an easy find after a moderate walk, great views, thanks Quasar.
Took Space Man figurine, as we will need him later on in the day, and left Fridge magnet set.

Staying at the local Scout Camp for the weekend, so mustered the troops and went a searching. A nice easy find with good views on a beautiful day.
Swapped a whole heap of things for a whole heap of other things. Cache still in good condition.

Visited this cache on its first birthday! This time I didn't get stuck in Canberra but was able to fly home. Cache is in good condition, but I left a new notebook as the current log is pretty full. Also averaged the co-ordinates for 15 minutes, and have changed the co-ordinates on this page to reflect this. They are closer to those posted by other visitors than my original co-ordinates. Hopefully people should be able to find it without much difficulty. The cache is not that well hidden and should be obvious when you're nearby.
Found at 11.00AM We've camped out here before but never had a reason to climb the hill at the time. We enjoyed the views from the top and were thankful that it wasn't as steep as some others we've been up around here. Nothing exchanged. Greg and Bev
Not another hill we thought, but thankfully it was only a short walk. Easy find with spot on co-ords.
We took a pack of tissues, and left Turbo the 4WD.
Gratitude to Quasar

Short walk up a steep hill, found it after a few minutes search, tried to leave three kids in container (mental note, bring larger container).. good view of Stromlo.. Also had a little interlopa, Mr Echidna paid a visit during lunch...
Cheers,
Peter (vk1npw), Bernie (vk1kip), Daniel, James, Alex..

I have updated the co-ordinates to reflect those posted by Super-T. I did average the location for a while when I planted the cache, but the strength of numbers seems to be that it was a bit out, and since I can't easily get there to check, I've changed it. Hopefully it should be a bit easier to find now.
Going from the top of the hill is a lot easier than the bottom

Downloaded this cache a while ago, so didn't realise that other people have had problems finding it. Stu & I spent a good 20 minutes searching the area around the wattle tree that was about 5m away from the co-ordinates, but had no success. We were running out of time, so had to give up. Logging on the computer later that night, read the recent reports from Super-T and others and saw how close we'd been.
Well, I was determined to leave the ACT with at least one more cache than maccamob - so returned to the site with Super-T's co-ords first thing this morning. New figures led me right to the spot - easy to find when you know where to look!!
Took $2 and a candle, and left some bits and pieces!
quasar - please please please fix the co-ordinates so nobody else has to suffer!!!!

I agree with all but one person who signed the logbook for this cache, The co-ordinates our out to wacky!!!
And it isn't covered by twigs and dirt, or twigs and bark, it's under a rock like most caches.
So with wrong co-ordinates, and looking in dirt and twigs not under rocks, if it hadn't been for the clue about the wattle tree, we'd never have found this cache. We just had to check every wattle tree in the area. We finally found the actual cache about 15-18 metres further down hill than the co-ordinates would suggest.
Took a candle, and pack of Petunia seeds. Left a fluffy duck pencil case, and some other bits and peices that I just cannot remember at the moment.
Found by Super-T and Family, Ty-Breaker and Family, And the one and only Megahurtz.
Try the co-ordinates above if you can't find it at the normal co-ordinates.

Altitude that was listed threw me off for a few minutes. Had a hard time picking my way through the undergrowth on the way up and found a nice easy way down right to the bend in the road.
Hmmm - GPS seemed to put cache up a hill, circling the hill on me trustee MTB, ah, I found a dirt road up the back - an easy and very short ride to lookout at top, and hence just down hill to cache. The log book says every other visitor found the coords were about 10-15m out - I agree, so widen your search to a 15 m radius - next to a wattle tree. Nice view of traffic over bridge ! Just visiting - no swaps, er, yum, gobbled 3 easter eggs, MTBiking is hard work and I needed energy to ride back up the hill to Canberra.
Being from Sydney i actually know this area quite well. We have often camped here when kayaking. Had a bbq at the picnic area and then a short but steep climb up the hill. My coordinates led me a bit off but the cache is in the most likely spot. Took a card game and left some easter eggs.
Found by my 6yo son again – so he chose again, and picked another toy car. That’s two in one day. Mind you, this one took a little longer find. The terrain was steepish, and full of waist high brackish scratchy stuff. (Which is a little difficult to traverse with an 18month old on a backack). But, must have been a good day for it – according to the log, 2 parties had been there before us today. We saw a disused wombat hole just a bit up the hill from the cache, which I thought would be a better spot, but I left it near the wattle as it was. Put in two items of treasure, filled out the log, and left… (Couldn’t stick around, as a sever thunderstorm was predicted)

This was my first find late in the afternoon after a fizzer with Giant Echidna Dreaming earlier in the day. It was a bit further from the co-ordinates than I had expected, 70 feet by my (nautical) calculations with a 20 foot estimated position error on the Garmin. Perhaps I was being a bit optimistic and that this level of accuracy is par for the course and indicative of the size of the GPS ballpark and how much manual effort is then needed to home in on the cache. A bit of persistence and a couple of 'emu parade' sweeps back and forth and there it was. Did a trinket swap, logged the find and went home with a bit of inspiration to place my own cache along the track near home that I walk each day for a bit of relaxation and exercise.
Second cache for the day - GPS took me to about 15m from where I eventually found the cache.. - was fairly easy to find, as there's not too many places on the side of the hill to hide a cache
Didn't take/leave anything, but had a good rest, and loved the view from the top
Great spot!

I attacked this one from the bridge, probable the hard way! Took a bit of searching once in the locality but eventually found it. Interesting to see the previous visitor was also from South Aust, hey Kevin I'm following you.
I took the fitness book because I need it.
Thanks Quasar

Took Richo on his first Cache hunt whilst the Girls and kids cooled off in the near by river.
The cache was found after a bit of a search, we decided that the BMW badge would look good on an old bomb.
Now off to Tharwa for the next one.
Thanks guys

What a beautiful Canberra day. Left all the Women at home (they still haven't got it yet) so a few of my friends and I were off. Three GPS units and a compass later and it still took 10mins.
Left a BMW item and tried my luck with the scrathy. Guess what ? Won nothing, back to work.

SNIFTER and I arrived at this place just as the rain came tumbling down. Of course this made for some slippery going on the way to the stash. Worse still was the humidity that remained after the rain had stopped. Very nice location. The bird calls were very soothing and the evidence of wildlife interesting. Changed a bandage and CD for a nice dinner and a Lottery Ticket, good luck with it. Thanks guys, for a great cache.
Well, we caught up with this one and managed not to get tangled in the blackberries. Added a car to the cache contents.
1st (of 3) for the day. Good spot
Others were: Geocache (GC239F), Third Time Lucky (GC2498) - phew.
Took a CD - ta, left a Los Alamos trinket and change from 2 countries.

Found the container Sunday morning. Well hidden, but in a good location.
My wife used the GPS for the first time! She's now keen to find her next one.
Took some maps and left a book.
Have also found two others in Canberra, and it looks as though a fourth was posted today.
We will hide our own in the next couple of weeks.

We must have just missed the other party to find this cache on that Sunday! This was our second attempt to find the cache. It became evident that the difficulty level is determined by having a good starting point. When you start from 25km away on the wrong side of a river, you know you're going to be in for a hard time!
It also helps to go looking when wattle is in bloom!

I think I aproached this cache from the wrong spot. Don't park the car at the closest point to the cache. Its a steep little climb up the hill.
All those wattle trees also make it a bit confusing as well. I walked back the long way to my car and had a great view of the Dam. I could be a good place to hide a few more caches.......

Our second cache and on the same day as the first.
Great location and not too hard to find. Celia commented One GPS and so many Wattle trees. We look forward to visiting this one again.

I COULDNT FIND IT!!!
I searched and searched for hours, kicking around in the dirt, it started to get dark so we got the torch out and kept looking, but could not find ANYTHING. I'll be back!
