As there's been no cache to find for some time, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

23-May-10
Give nthe reported changes to the area of this cache I'm disabling it until the owner can either perform maintenance or archive it.

Tried doing this cache today, loaded way point in a while back.. So didnt realise things had changed here recently.. I had a real good search in the area.. And by the looks of things other have had a good look too.. I am hoping owner of this cache got here first and saved it and it wasnt muggled.. I'll keep watching to see what the outcome is.. Cool spot to get too..

01-May-10
Motorway extension has started now and the first trees have been fallen. Area is fenced now and maybe there is just one chance tomorrow to rescue the container. The cache location will be gone once the works will have been finished.

25-Apr-10
Rubbish will disappear soon and we hope that the owner is aware of this as the cache will gone as well. The first diggers are not far away for the extension of the motorway. We rescued the travel bug.

19-Mar-10
A good find
Iwould have carried litter out if i had a sack

18-Mar-10
Fairly quick find while on a cache hunt out this way. SL TFTC

06-Feb-10
Not the place that I would want to take my summer holiday and rubbish' it was like a visit to the tip in the old days with my dad.

31-Jan-10
Spent a bit of time looking before gjdjpoi and I found this one. Not the most pleasant place to be looking due to the rubbish strewn about.
TFTC

31-Jan-10
Hard place to find, due to having to run across the road. to much rubbish so hard to find, found it in the end

24-Jan-10
Wow, what a lot of rubbish collects around here. Armed with a few hints from the previous logs it didn't take long to hunt it down. Glad to get it off the nearest list. Thanks.

12-Jan-10
Quick found on my last day in NZ

Went out on a Guzzi ride to cool down on this hot Christmas day. Never really wanted to do this cache but needed to complete the smily face picture for the area. Cache was quite exposed. [so recovered in leaf litter leaving just a corner exposed].

22-Dec-09
We tried pretty hard for this one in a somewhat messy location.

22-Dec-09
The general area here is great - but the specifc area of the hide has a lot of undesireable rubbish. This is not a place to bring first time cachers or children. Perhaps the cache could be rehidden somewhere close by, still in the island?

19-Dec-09
Gps position out by a few metres, found it in the end. TFTC

19-Dec-09
Found with Salian
Position about 9m out

13-Dec-09
Heaps of rubbish, didn't feel like searching too much...

06-Dec-09
For us the GPS position was about 10m off. Took a little to find but Kids and I scurried round till we did.

22-Nov-09
Found withYuGeo4 decided we needed top do this one as we needed to retrieve a well travelled GC TFTC TNLNSL (1486)

After reading other logs we were a bit worried about going in there.Even the GPS was scared to do its thing. And as it happend came across the dead rat in residence. So after a bit of a hunt we finnaly found it.Glad we dont have to come back here again.Took a TB Left a TB

14-Nov-09
Found it after some searching around. Good spot, no muggles! Left The Techno Love Bug - (Travel Bug).

May someone else deliver it on its journey around the world. Smile

13-Nov-09
Searched the right spot this time. Cache not well hidden. Needs camo paint. TFTC!

No problems finding this today. Area was reasonably tidy
TFTC

18-Oct-09
Read the previous logs before setting out, so was armed with a stick to prod around with. However this wasn't needed, as the GZ was spot on and the cache was partly exposed. TNLN, TFTC

10-Oct-09
Yikes. That one takes cache in trash out to a whole new level! TFTC

29-Sep-09
Had to do but yuk! TNLN

28-Sep-09
Yucky, yuk yuk yuk !! In fairness to the cache owner, it is a surprisingly large coppice and could be an almost pleasant spot. However, it's probably fair to give a little hint to future seekers to say something like 'no need to venture more than one tree deep into the woods', so they can avoid a repeat of raking through litter for 20 minutes as I did (GPS coverage not that good in the trees). And yes, the pile of nappies noted in earlier logs is still alive and well ! I guess this Cache's writing is on the wall, with construction of the Christchurch Southern Motorway extension and duplication, stage 1, now programmed for 2012. Thanks for the Cache, 2Teddies.

27-Sep-09
I can only say that I am glad that I did not take anyone with me on this one. Eventually found cache, but could not wait to get out of here and wash my hands thouroughly. I guess that when the cache was set up the place was less undesirable.

13-Sep-09
Not a nice place to be looking around for a cache. Gave it 10 minutes and had no luck, might not bother with it again.

10-Sep-09
Found the cache amongst a whole lot of other rubbish. The most rubbish I had seen in an area while touring around NZ!

05-Sep-09
If you like rubbish and fermenting used nappies, this is the cache for you. This place is absolutely disgusting. One-Fang and I got in and out as quickly as possible. This is an awful place.

05-Sep-09
I'm appalled the owner hasn't closed this cache off, given the log history. Did not read it all myself before adding this one to the day's plan and regret this. What a disgusting, filthy place to bring people to. The pile of used nappies that the FTF found are still there, so wow, they're over a year old now. Yuk.

Did not trade any items. Hastily signed log and returned cache, touching as little as possible, and went to wash our hands after this one.

Please disable - what an awful place to put a cache.

30-Jul-09
Hunted everywhere but no luck. A really disgusting place to hang around for too long. No lodger but so much rubbish (and goodness knows what else) that I didn't feel like raking among the leaf litter too much so may well have missed it-don't think I will try again either....

23-Jul-09
Last stop of the night. Had been worried about finding deceased dogs, men in hammocks and tonnes of rubbish... but none of those there. Got in and out pretty quickly, a weird feel to the place at night (or it was just my imagination!). Cheers

22-Jul-09
Easy find as the cache was completely exposed.
I had read the previous logs and knew about the some-time resident near GZ, but didn't notice the shelter until I looked up as I was signing the log. Yikes! I couldn't tell if it was occupied, so signed and replaced cache in double-quick time.
Sorry, didn't cover with leaf litter - just a few sticks as wanted to touch as little as possible.
A horrible, horrible place.
TFTC.

05-Jul-09
Found easily enough but like the other posts the trash and local resident (absent) make this no place for children. I suspect the local has moved on, as the site did not look recently occupied.

Left a Mondo and then read this cache was for TB's and coins only --- ooops.

21-May-09
Saw the hammock.. not occupied luckily..
Not a place to take young kids... found the cache pretty quickly and left smartly...

26-Apr-09
Found the cache. Found hammock and camp. DNF the dead dog or the camper. Great idea to have a TB cache. However, the trash all around and wondering who was watching from the trees was a tad uncomfortable. Cache was in good shape and dropped off New Zeeland TB for further travels around New Zealand. Cheers for the cache.

25-Apr-09
Never been caching in someones bedroom before. Arrived at 5:30am and immediately found the hummock - occupied! Beat a hasty retreat, maybe another DAY.

10-Apr-09
A bit of a tip. A homeless person seems to have set up camp complete with hammock and belongings. Luckily, being the middle of the day, they didn't appear to be there, but we weren't taking any chances and made a hasty retreat. Would be very very careful if going there - not one for the kids..

10-Apr-09
I hope we found the right one we didnt see a dead dog or a hammock. TFTC

05-Apr-09
This was our first official Cache find. Have previously found others and will return to them to log in. Past decomposing dog so knew we must of been on the right track, found a soccer ball in the bushes so it's now our geocover ball.

26-Mar-09
Found with Imgettingannoyed during our 3 n half week NZ mega cache mission!!

26-Mar-09
found it

09-Mar-09
A nice little walk to gz after the rush period. At gz I was confronted by lots of options and happily a search of those near my gps paid dividends. thanks jakeemon

31-Jan-09
Managed to park not far away but found a dogs corpse that had decomposed down to exposing the ribs, right on the edge of the bush, which turns out was probably the wrong side of the bush anyway.
Search for a wee bit on the other side of the bush, but the do had thrown me out of caching mode, I shall return another day.

Thanks.

24-Jan-09
Found it.
The area is a bit of a dump, glad we had our rubber gloves and poking stick.
Clue not all that helpful really and we searched for quite a few minutes.
I was just planning what I was going to put in the DNF log when one last flick with the stick produced the box.
GPS was a bit funny, lots of potential spots matching the clue within the circle of accuracy but appeared fairly close in the end once I'd found it.
Yay, now we can go home satisfied.
TNLN, TFTC.

22-Jan-09
I looked and looked and looked. No luck Sad

11-Jan-09
A bit of local knowledge saved a lot of work with this one. Have also found a new home for Kelly.

07-Jan-09
Drive past here every day to and from work. So decided it was about time to stop and find the cache. Quick find.

06-Jan-09
Not difficult to get too, but lots of rubbish about. What a mess lot Kiwis are. Interesting place for a hide. TFTC

05-Jan-09
Thanks,
S.t.

03-Jan-09
Needed some help as went into the trees from the wrong side the first time and just missed the correct area but found it eventually Smile

28-Dec-08
TFTC cheers

28-Dec-08
Found on a Sunday morning walk with dog from nearby accommodation. Yes lots of rubbish but fortunately the coordinates were accurate, the cache site was easy to pick and the spot was clear of rubbish. + elastic tie. Signed log, TFTC!

26-Dec-08
Saw 2 dead cats on the way to GZ, managed to park 70 meters away from GZ.

GZ pretty dodgy.

Thanks for the cache.

12-Dec-08
I thought GZ was quite scary - cars were racing past in both directions... swapped geocoins. TFTC

29-Nov-08
Knew the area so able to park 120m away. If we all took a bag with us the rubbish would soon be gone - a bit more constructive than negative comments? A quick find in an area that's doing its bit to clean the air from passing traffic fumes. TFTC

19-Nov-08
Probably one of the most disgusting caches I've ever done. At least the used nappies were reasonably well decomposed.
It took about 20 minutes hunting around all the garbage.
I've just read the 'hints' - yeah, right.... +TB.

16-Nov-08
Yuk.

27-Oct-08
Popped in to grab this one on our way out of town after the Labour Day Event. Found a parking spot about 250metres away, and as it was a quiet traffic day there was no trouble with crossing the road! We also has a quick cache find.
No travel bugs in there. TNLN TFTC

27-Oct-08
yep nice warm day, the bugs were about.

Thanks Bitsprayer

27-Oct-08
Found quickly. Road not too busy. TFTC.

26-Oct-08
An intriguing place to get to and you have to pick your moment for crossing, really surprised to find this area in such a busy place
Thanks
ernienz

25-Oct-08
Quick find, after we realized it not where we thought it was.
No bugs in there and we had none to drop off.

Area definitely in need of a litter drive.

TFTC

14-Oct-08
I finally got around to doing this cache tonight , Found the cache easly enough but boy did this area smell bad.. I am glad I had a stick to rumage around.. cheers Bo

23-Sep-08
did not find due to being put off by a dead dog left in the trees near cache location, CAUTION!

19-Sep-08
Had avoided this one for awhile but decided to bite the bullet and just do it. The thought of all the rubbish put me off, in the end the find was relatively easy. TNLN TFTC

08-Sep-08
Good to be home looking for caches published while away for 10 weeks. Happy to be first to find Log book TB.

30-Aug-08

TFTC. found without too much trouble. a bit tricky finding a safe park but did. dropped off new GC to launch it!

22-Aug-08
Another night cache, so it was pretty easy to cross over without being seen. Ground was very damp, but cache was easy to find. Cheers Gav [2245]

16-Aug-08
I concur - yuk! After crashing around for a while and stumbling across the elderly nappies mentioned earlier I was about to give up when I spotted it! Made good use of a local stick to avoid using my hands.
-Curious George TB & Sunshine Bear TB
+Mr Potato Head TB & Out for a duck TB

16-Aug-08
Not the most memorable of cache visits, rubbish is pretty discusting but we found it after a bit of searching.
We dropped off our new travel slug and set it free.

+ hokey pokey travel slug

- mr potato head travel bug.

Cheers.

10-Aug-08
Glad I had my Leki pole. CITO sometime?

05-Aug-08
Returned at night with the big gloves and found quickly enough. Still not the nicest place in the city due to the rubbish but at leat there are trees and grass which is better than concrete and asphalt. TNLN

04-Aug-08
What a pigsty!! Why doesn't asomeone organise a CITO event right here? Took a bit to find the cache due to tree cover. Left TB Curious George and TB Sunshine Bear. Thanks and cheers from Grandalf(1343)

03-Aug-08
Found after 10 minutes rummaging around, and this is a very unpleasant area to rummage around in !

I'm guessing it's mainly due to rubbish getting blown off trailors and trucks on the way to Parkhouse Transfer Station ?

TNLN TFTC !

02-Aug-08
Got to GZ and hardy even looked, what a pig sty.

I'll be returning but with heavy duty gloves.

29-Jul-08
A great wee cache. TFTC
Took TB and some coins.

26-Jul-08
#296 (6/6 on a SW Chch day). Found with Troodles. Not a particularly pleasant spot for rummaging in undergrowth, so decoded clue pretty early on. Took a little bit of finding after that, but we got there in the end.

21-Jul-08
Looking for this made me realize how much traffic passes by this area. I'm glad I don't live nearby. Anyway it is an interesting island where there is now an added item of interest which I found quickly. Thanks for bringing me here on a beautiful winter's day. Hatas

20-Jul-08
Yuck what a horrible amount of litter. A quick trip on a Sunday morning when the traffic was minimal. Not sure what the theme is, but bugs was a good choice of name! TNLN Thank you.

20-Jul-08
Quite quiet once at the wp , yes the co-ordinates are accurate. I wonder where all the rubbish come from?
Left the Plymouth Geocoin TFTC

2206. We knew an easy way to get to this cache - at a place that Rodney has always wanted to hide a cache but we have managed to resist! We forgot to take our coins and TBs with us but have to go past this way later tonight so will stop in with a torch and add some to the cache. We took some away with us. This was an unexpected FTF.

Thanks
Sallies, Raewyn & Stella

18-Jul-08
Dropped by late tonight to drop off a TB and 2 coins. Rodney made the dash across and as Iris was sitting waiting in the car a Police Car approached to check that everything was OK and we weren't up to any mischief! They seemed satisfied enough to drive away, albeit very slowly!

We never found anything bad at GZ on either visit and the cache is quite safe and accessible.

17-Jul-08
That place is disgusting. I would keep kids well away, there is a pile of what looked like disposable nappies in the bushes there, about 6m from my GZ[xx(].Not a great place to go at night. We dont look after our city as well as some people think. There was a large amount of bird life I scared out of the trees, so they seem to like it.
Apart from the litter, it is a good place for a cache.
Cheers,
S.t.
