THIS GEOCACHE IS NO LONGER IN PLACE.

I was contacted by the Royal Society of Victoria who have recently learned of this geocache on their premises.
The land surrounding the RSV building is not crown or public land, it is apparently private by commission of the State Government.
The RSV did not provide permission for this geocache and have requested that it be removed.
As I am very close to this cache location during business hours, I have removed the cache as requested by the RSV.
I will contact the owner to have it returned.

THIS GEOCACHE IS NO LONGER IN PLACE.

I was not at all aware that this cache was on private land. Cache is accordingly archived.

As a student of the relevant field I found this cache very interesting. Indeed a long way from home! Also my first micro cache so overall a very enjoyable find. TFTC

Well I was along way from home today and the weather felt like it could have been similiar too.

Soon had the cache in hand after a quick search. tftc Smile

Find 5/6 for the day, I'm happy that I checked the cache info before heading to the given coordinates, I don't carry Internet access with me so it's good that I came prepared. The final location ties in with the cache clues well, the cache itself was really tough to get at, but it was easy to pull off the attentive tourist act Smile

In Melbourne for the F1GP and staying in Carlton I downloaded a couple of caches 'just in case' the opportunity arose. We had tickets to the Jersey Boys (a great show) and walked straight past the gz. Clever hide in a very busy spot. TFTC

Our very first cache find! I am staying with Team Ladava for a few days and they have introduced my husband and I to the wonderful world of caching. So after hijaking hubby from hospital for the afternoon, we borrowed Team Ladava's Navigator and GPS Gertrude and found our first cache. We didn't buy an expensive geo tool, we used a stick. I was very excited to locate and find the Hidden cache, leave our mark and take a couple of photos. Thanks for the chase.

It was a pleasant surprise to step off a tram and find myself staring at GZ. It had a DNF here when the cache was only a month old, and had been muggled.
So today I grabbed the chance and logged it - no GPS needed.
Thanks Alansee

19-Jan-10
Well, I didn't really solve the puzzle. I just kinda knew where final GZ was after reading clues and log and having a eureka moment.
So tried to get this one before work this morning, but failed due to massive fingers, lack of other tools, and getting my pen stuck.
So... At lunch time $3.95 was spent on an appropriate geo-tool to supplement my massive hands.
Got it on the way home, a few muggles around but I was very very quick.
Like some other cachers here.. I too have been to that place, but on the British side rather than the Aussie. Might post a photo if I can be bothered at some point.
Love your work ... Tftc

Huh. Never knew we had a guest from this far away!
Great puzzle, and very clever hide. Definitely had us stumped for a bit.
Thanks for a fun hide!

This was the easiest puzzle cache for a while! Worked it out at work and then rode my bike down to grab it during lunchtime. Really only one place it could be. Interesting spot. Thanks.

Serial, tongdog and I had just grabbed a FTF further north from here, so we decided to top it off with a second smiley for the night. I had gathered the info for this one earlier today, after seeing it still in my "top-20 closest to home unfound" listing, so tonight was a good chance to cross it off the list. We managed to grab a carpark just around the corner, and moved in for a quick find, sign and replace. Tongdog did her celebratory "100-dance", then back to the cache-mobile for the trip home. Thanks for the cache - a sneaky little hide, with thousands of passing muggles every day unaware of its existence!

Found this one with serial and pwags- my 100th cache find!!!
thanks for celebrating with me Smile

A very interesting item at WP1, I had already calculated GZ at home and with lots of people milling around it was not easy to search. Fortunatly we did not have to go far before the very sneaky hide was discovered.

Great hide; fun web excursion; interesting artefact. I was visiting for a meeting and took the opportunity to go for a walk in this part of town beforehand. I didn't think the hint was very helpful, and pretty much fluked the find. TNLN. TFTC.

Nicely hidden and interesting cache. Thanks for bringing me here.

I solved this one twelve months ago. I don't get into the city caching very often! Thanks Alansee.

The log book has only one more place left to sign

26-Oct-09
I stopped here because my memory told me of a cache - and I instinctively knew where it was. My gpsr was telling me there wasn't a cache nearby - but viola! There is was! I looked at the title and it wasn't until I came to log it that I realised how I knew it was there. I'd solved this one about two months ago - at the time even looked on google street view to figure out if my coordinates might be correct, but had forgotten all about it until the feeling of Deja Vu overcame me. I recall I enjoyed the webcam experience and I loved the object that is so far from home. This could also qualify as an Earthcache! TNLNSL. The log has only one more place left. I'll post a maintenance log.

1,317Km from home.
A longer than normal walk for me, I tried Premier attraction but was unable to make an attempt of a retrieve due to the 6pm muggle activity. So I walked to this one which I had solved in April but then lost/overwrote the coords and solved and again over wrote the coords. Having solved it for a third time thought I'd better get around to crossing it off the list.
Found the object at the solved coords and searched, looked, searched and was just about to give up when something just a little out of profile caught my eye. Extracting the cache and sitting on a nearby bench to fill in the log watching the last of the rush die down. Thanks Alansee for a clever cache and some inspiration for more containers/hides.

13-Sep-09
Came here after the City Circle Scramble, and on our way to do some maintenance at "Exhibitionist'. Had done the groundwork some time ago, so it should have been a simple find. Spotted the container almost immediately, and just about to retrieve it when a muggle appeared to examine the plaque. After a while, the muggle left, and it was all easy after that. An interesting object indeed, and not what we would expect to find at all. Our thanks to Alansee.

13-Sep-09
Whilst doing the city circle scramble we found this one by accident. =) Very nice hiding spot, I'm kind of disappointed tha we didn't solve the mystery, but there's noone saying that we cant do it after finding the cache! TFTC!

OK I am guilty of not logging caches over the last year or two. Due to 2 operations and rehab it has made it difficult to log caches even though I have been mostly chair bound sitting for short times has been difficult as well.
What I have done is create this log in an attempt to bring our found and DNF’s up to date so I can resume my normal habit of stories rather than a TNLN – TFTC.
Most of these logs will not include the owners team name so I think it is appropriate to say a Big Thank the cache owners for their caches and some wonderful memories of caching adventures.
Also thanks to Team Crackers who have made our caching trips so much fun and their help in working out what caches we did and when.
Regards

Having an elderly friend returning to Casterton by VLine I went with her to Southern Cross Station to see her off and then decided to go for a bit of a walk before heading home. After being muggled out at Flagstaff Gardens I continued on here with a lot more luck and was able to find the cache in the first place I looked.
Thanks Alansee for a very interesting cache, we have had the co ords for awhile, it as good to finally get the cache

05-Aug-09
In the city at night on some hiking business and I thought that this would be a perfect time to complete this cache.
The location impressed me (I wonder how much this piece of real estate would be worth?) and I loved the object. This was another one of those "If Not For Geocaching I'd Never Have Visited Here" moments. What more could you ask?

Thanks Alansee for the quality hide and another "INFGINHVH".

Found by Team Ladava around 2.00 pm
What a fascinating cache. I know I looked at it some time ago and obtained the information but it was only today that we needed to be nearby and I said to my wife that this was a ‘must do’ addition to our trip. To actually touch something from that far off location is an amazing experience and to see it live on the webcam is again something that would have the previous generation shaking their head in disbelief. How technology has progressed in the past century, but then I suppose it advanced in similar ‘leaps and bound’ in the previous century.
Our thanks to Alansee for bringing this item to our attention.

I can't remember when I did the work to calculate GZ, but it was some time ago. Today was my opportunity to grab the cache. I parked nearby and was able to locate the cache. With a bit of effort I was able to grab it and log my find. Just as I was completing it, a group of about 10 muggles stopped while one explained the item which was a long way from home.

Shortly afterwards they moved to the nearby seats so that some of the older ones could rest on their travels. It seemed like hours that they stayed, preventing me from replacing the cache. Just as I was about to feed the meter some more money, they moved on and I was able to return it to its hiding place. Thanks for showing me this out of place item, and for the cache.

02-May-09
I am aware of the works but they do not prevent access to the cache. Unless of course workmen are standing beside it! Which is unlikely.

02-May-09
Think we found the location, but were foiled by workmen right next to GZ, and decided not to compromise the cache, so left, to return another day. Thanks anyway.

I've long wanted to go to the place celebrated by this cache, but this object is likely to be as close as I'll get. With the current heatwave here, it was interesting to see the contrast between here and there although today looked like a gloriously mild day there (I can't help wondering if their maximum is under threat!!). Thanks for the clever hide and interesting spot, Alansee.

We did the homework for this cache prior to heading to Melbourne on a Kids Needs run. Once in the area and had the Geomobile parked and with two adult geokids in tow, we very quickly found this cool cache.

Like others we were not aware of the significance, having walked past the cache site on numerous occasions in the last 20 or more years.

I've been based in the city for the last couple of years but really haven't had the opportunity to clear out caches in the surrounding area as work has been too busy. As my current assignment winds down I hope to rectify this and today I took a small detour to pick up this cache. Left the GPSr at home but with the description and OziCE I was able to walk straight to the cache location and extract the container while using the "Mobile Phone Ruse" to distract the muggles. Signed log and was on my way.

A nice easy find for the first of the day. I even found a free carpark just across the road. I was intrigued by the rock and its origin as well as the arrow pointing to the South Pole. Kind of fun really.
Took nothing, left nothing.

Found this one at 15:00 as my second find of the day without a GPSr. I saw this when it first popped up, calculated the location then and found out roughly where it was using Google Maps. Rather foolishly though, I hadn't put the coordinates into Geko Red Face. As it turned out, I was in the area today so I stretched my memory and voila, I had the very cleverly hidden stash in hand after a short search Big Grin.

It sure seems like it's been a long winter - but now that the weather's starting to warm up a bit, I feel more comfortable going for more distant caches before work - and today I took the opportunity of heading off to Brunswick for one and nabbing this one on the way back to work. I can't say I'm a big fan of the CBD, but parking on a motorbike at least overcomes the biggest drawback to caching in there Wink and, this morning, I only had to walk a few metres to get to GZ where I was able to make a quick find Smile.

Thanks Alansee - a very worthwhile cache with several very interesting facets - not the least of which was (for me) the building on that little island. I wonder how old it is and what the area was like when it was first built.

Did the homework in Adelaide a few days beforehand. As I approached knew where the cache would be, and sure enough I was right. A very interesting cache. Thanks Alansee for bringing me to this spot.

Another country boy in the city for work but it seems I missed the party! Even in peak hour traffic this evening I was able to park 40m away, nice! Unfortunately escaping the city was made more difficult by a nasty accident 150m away, hope they're ok.

I really enjoyed the well themed puzzle here, I wasn't aware of the significance of this spot and I was even able to calibrate my GPS while standing here!

Nice work, I enjoyed this one.

Found by djcache. GAFF?

I have been here before. I hadn't made the connection to this cache - partly as I don't generally do puzzles and had never read the notes until now.

Once discussed with Rhino I agreed his hypothesis was correct & we found the cache together in the dark.

Great hide method. One of inner Melbourne's cleverer hides.

Thanks for the cache (named similarly to some of my own Smile)

Found 200809092210 Smile. As soon as this cache was listed and before I'd visited the required website I had a picture in my mind's eye of where the cache would be hidden Wink. Picking up the required information confirmed my suspicions and tonight after an impromptu dinner with DJcache (two country boys coincidentally in the big smoke [:p]) an easy find was enjoyed sans GPSr . It's always good when what you thought would be there is actually there Cool

As for the object at GZ ... it shows characteristic signs of ... I could go on ... Wink

Following Red Tag's helpful work and note, I checked this today, and all is in order. I will change the description slightly to make the cache easier to find in order to reduce possible attraction of muggles while searching. Mind you, there is only one place it really could be!

As ever, please be aware of muggles.

07-Sep-08
NB: this cache had clearly been muggled as I found the log and what I suspected to be the cache container about 2 metres from GZ. The ziplock bag needs replacing but I replaced the cache where I thought it belonged. A proper check is required, I think.

06-Sep-08
Found this one after solving it prior to arriving in town - luckily with the previous (outdated) information as I was blissfully unaware of the change! Within walking distance of the Uni where I raced out in the lunch break of a conference for some caching! Thanks for the cache, Alansee

06-Sep-08
Clearly I'm the victim of a muggle as it was no where to be found on Saturday morning.
I solved this one before leaving home a couple of days ago, and I just read he last couple of log entries.
Studied the plaque on the ground too, thought that may have been a clue...but alas nothing found.
Disappointing as it's a well put together cache and the plaque it attached to a rather interesting object

Did this one with Robmc some months ago but somehow forgot to log it. It was only when we attended the event in the city yesterday that I realised it was still showing as unfound. Interesting little bit of history that I would probably have never noticed otherwise. This game is great for that sort of thing.
Many thanks Alansee
