Cache was found without any issues! Thank you for the cache. Greencordial asked BenM70 to do up a caching found template while she is doing the driving and Im doing duck all. Im actually just pressing the screen randomly like Im actually enthused to be doing this. Anyways, we are visiting the national capital to attend Grrencordial2nd mega as I got scared by Covid for Dayboro and didnt take the punt that Townsvilles coolest cachers BenM70 and burgo78 did. Thank you Team Beaufort for placing this cache for me to enjoy!

Well, for someone that has not bothered to do anything geocaching related for a while I seem to be going out of the way to do Mega events. This particular caching trip was the brainchild of the other participant in this little excursion, that being greencordial. I flew into Toowoomba this morning hoping that the car gremlins had departed (they hadnt, but were sorted with another quick mechanical visit) and we were on our ways to Canberra. Fingers crossed First one for the trip seems to be the only real cache in this small LGA Thanks Team Beaufort for placing this Traditional for me to convert into a smilie

We had only just left Goondiwindi and pulled over to find this hide. We were only 45 minutes into the drive and Mrs Woodyrothwell was already asking if it was her turn behind the wheel. Not long ago I learnt that driving holidays arent that bad when you shelve your chauvinism. I dont need to know I have big testicles when I can spend half my time in the passenger seat fondling them. After finding the hide I thought she seemed extra keen for time behind the wheel. Then it dawned on me that she had no internet service and had lost all her lives on whatever app on her phone she plays. Looks like Ive got some ball fondling time on my hands. tftc

A well placed cache here, parking bay, loos and a nice container in good condition to find!

Greyhams and I have been on a mission to see as much of Australia and visit as many of the LGA's as possible for some time now. This trip was Queensland, flying into Brisbane and a full 8 days on the road stopping for as many of the caches of interest we had time for as we passed through.

Leaving Brisbane northwest was our direction, as far west as we could go all the way to Birdsville. Of course, it is a Geocaching trip so it zigged and zagged as needed to cover the areas required. Yulaba, Charleville, Barcaldine, Ilfracombe, Longreach, Windorah, Birdsville, back to Windorah, Quilpie, Thargomindah, Cunnamulla, St George, detour to Moonie for a FTF, Wyaga, Warick and the home run back into Brisbane for our flight home.

Love the driving as we left behind the trees and entered red earth and sparseness, always a surprise though passing through areas of yellow grassy plains, although generally open flat land in all directions was what greet us. Wildlife was in abundance and never have we seen so much. Emus dominated for 1000's of km, cattle as we passed through their grazing lands, but also pigs in numbers we didn't expect. Echidnas, goats, horses, a giant goanna, foxes, and birdlife that does well on the overnight roo casualties. Still no camels though, they have to be out there somewhere!

The country hospitality was a highlight, great friendly people, Queensland hotels full of history and character. They all were great but the Wellshot in Ilfracombe needs a huge shout out for being the stand out of this trip. Leaving the car at Windorah and flying into Birdsville not only saved a day of driving but the scenery flying low over the countryside was spectacular and memorable.

Also memorable was waking up on the second day with the best case of laryngitis I have ever experienced... no voice, none! To top it, it lasted the full trip only returning by the end, I'm not sure if I pity GreyHams for having to deal with me squeak in an attempt to talk and silenced, or he had the best trip ever!

The days were full, either full of km's or caches but never dull with so much to see or do. The caching grounds are rich thanks to the QOGM events, it's definitely a great location to hold them. Many thanks to all the CO's for your caches that helped guide us as we travelled through Queensland on a great trip.

Very well placed, I needed the facilities very badly!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How to get all the counties, or councils, or "LGA's"?....... well, I have learned the hard way, albeit quickly, to do the "hardest" ones first!

We could have just driven from Canberra to Perth to get the amount of kilometres, but instead we thought we would push ourselves a bit harder, drive a bit further.....and do the south west corner of Queensland!!

It has to be said now....Queensland is a bloody large state. I mean ridiculously large! We drove east back to Brisbane for almost three full days! Yes, we stopped for a series of letterboxes, and all of the 'county' areas, and even a FTF, but it was ludicrous!

After our flight from Canberra, and collecting our rental, we head off west from Brisbane, on a mission to collect every LGA we could get.

Aquilus1 lost her voice after the first day, which made the rest of the trip much easier for me....I had to do all of the talking, and it helped I could argue both sides of every argument....and I always won!

Outback town hotels and pubs are so cool, and I love stopping at them. When I started caching I was wary as I only knew city pubs, which are very, very different.

I tried many a schnitty, and the odd steak, pizza or burger.... this truly was the outback pub tour of Queensland.

The Qantas museum was a special highlight, as I am a proper Qantas fanboy......I have done waaaay too many miles on the red roo!

Caching with Oddiewan and our improving 4-legged cacher pup, we are on holiday after the Rutherglen mega.

Last day of driving for us, grabbed this on the return trip. Signal was only good for one device and once employed the cache was found easily. Description has not been updated to reflect change in container, it’s no longer a blue lidded lunchbox, but is a round plastic jar similar to vegemite jar.

Thanks for the fun, Team Beaufort

**Found Wednesday 08-March-2023 at 09:17 Smiley #2123**

Got deployed to South West Queensland for the ongoing Fire emergency out there. Spent a week out there but had a travel day to and from with no time restrictions. Managed to grab all of these from Toowoomba to Dalby, then Goondiwindi back to Toowoomba.

Nice easy find. Good condition here. Went the back roads, so it was nice to get back onto a smooth (ish) highway. Getting closer to home!

Cache logs are either stamped, signed with Rogersclan13 or just RC13 for space. Thanks for the cache **Team Beaufort** Big Grin

15/10/2022 Find #5546
A group of us had made a plan. We actually made it much earlier in the year (when I say “we”, I mean Ponchomon11), however our plans were flooded out when much of Queensland was. So we rescheduled and the gang got together this weekend to make those plans come to fruition.
An early start for us all had everyone except for SaintsMadHouse meeting up at 9am in Pittsworth. We then convoyed our way to our end destination with a number of obligatory stops for older caches along the way.
Upon approach, we were concerned we may not be able to access the cache due to the significant roadworks along here, however it was just far enough clear of the roadworks that we had no trouble at all, and were quite glad for the loo stop while here.
Cache was quickly found, while Fangsoki decided to show interest in the sign.
Thanks for the cache Team Beaufort.

Munna Culla Snack Ninjas are off to QOGM…

With PirateLinda at the wheel, and Giraffe18 up front, that leaves 2ManyTrailers and I to fight over the armrest in the back…

Technically this cache wasn’t on the list…we may have missed the turn off to St George… twice…

So now we’re going by Goondiwindi…

This cache was a must get thanks to the latest Monthly Challenge in Brisbane… that and it’s an oldie…

The carpark was empty when we arrived, not so much when we left… something, at some stage has taken a liking to the container, so we replaced it to hopefully give it another 14 years…

Container was changed over due to holes in bottom, possibly from a critter nibbling.

Today we are travelling from Goondiwindi to Nobby where we will set up at the free camp that is only metres from the train line! We made hard work of this one but eventually we spotted it right where it should have been. Pretty cool toilets for long drops.

15-May-22
This weekend, to celebrate a birthday, I am embarking on a ~1400km roadtrip through New South Wales with my Dad. A lot of rain in South-East Queensland meant the itinerary got reversed and we came down via Grafton. So today, after a night in Moree, we're headed briefly south before aiming for home reasonably directly.

I'm a bit nervous as there is mixed messages that we may not get to Toowoomba this afternoon, and detours may or may not be possible. And that's semi-confirmed by a very low amount of traffic. But right now, it makes for great driving and we plow on farther north, navigating from geocache to far-flung geocache. A perfect way to break up a long drive.

Arriving at this rest area, there was just a campervan nearby, and they seemed to be making tea in the back. We aimed for GZ and I started poking about while Dad wandered off looking at something else; probably a native bee hive.

Hunting around, I took some time. I flicked through previous logs.. construction, clearing, long grass. Eventually in the long grass I found the log, and within the container. It didn't match the description, but the signatures matched up. Co-ordinates were good, just the long grass made things take longer for me today.

Just on 13:30 I signed my name and replaced back all as found. And with legs stretched and uncertainty ahead, time to get back in the car and put a few more kilometres behind us. Thanks for this geocache, Team Beaufort Smile

Continuing on my journey, I came to this cache. It was only drizzling when I arrived at the parking area, so I headed to GZ. There, the cache was quickly located and I added my name to the log. Eveerything returned as found and I headed on my way. Good timing, As I turned back on to the highway, it started to pour down again. The caching gods must be on my side today! Big Grin TFTC

27-Sep-21
On my way home from the QOGM and continuing my outback adventures. Today it was leaving Goondiwindi heading up the Gore Highway to Toowoomba and then a slight detour to Highfields before a straight drive home to Brisbane. I had a list of caches to collect and places to see, some oldies and some for a grid position.

Next on the list was this one and easy find and with log signed and cache replaced as found we were off to the next one. Thank you for placing this one here, not sure what is getting done here but there is a lot of activity with workmen and road machinery.

27-Sep-21

We are on our way to Thargomindah and hoping to collect the missing distances for the Well Travelled Traveller challenge. So instead of going Warwick, Yelarbon for Silo Art, then Goondiwindi for the night, we detoured to Wyaga to get this cache . So we are relieved campers that we did find it!

Luckily for this cache container it is still safe. There has been new toilets and bitumen put here and the excavation came within 60cm of the hide.
