Loved the walk finding the clues.

I have signed a challenge cache that requires me to get a traditional cache on every date of the year. At 2pm today, I realised that today was one of those days. I have wanted to get up to Beerburrum to get the multis, the kids seemed to be occupied with their friends so off I went.Had suspicion to do hard/walking waypoint last. And I was right. I certainly learnt some interesting things about Beerburrum along the way.

Passing by on our way home and I had wanted this oldie for a while now and guess what GreenGecko 1 hadnt found this one either. So challenge taken, we projected a GZ and wandered up the hill . A great dry ammo tin with the original log book.

27-Jul-24
Muggle65 and l were visiting a bit further up the way and we decided we had enough daylight left to do this one. Plus we had our torches so we were covered if we did something stupid and took way too long. Turns out we were way above form today and managed to arrive at GZ before sunset. Great container in perfect condition. Thank you so much

Did a little Beerburrum climb this morning then back down to town for a bit of a history walk. Found the cache, seems to still be in good nick. Amazingly it still has the original log in it and found my familys signature from 2010.

On my way home I stop to find this cache. Plus of course I needed a multi today.Just a Trifle thank you for placing and maintaining this cache for enjoyment of the caching community.

This multi has been on my list to do for a long time and i have had some of the information gathered on previous trips up the coast to visit family and some information i could gather on line. Today i just had one more lot of information to gather and then it was a nice park and walk to GZ where i spotted a favorite type of cache . I love a multi and this was a great one. Thanks for all the fun

25/02/2024 - 11:05Made the mistake of collecting the coords for this one in a sub-optimal order yesterday, so by the time we had the final coords we had to go back from where wed come. At the time Id even remarked that I bet the cache is in there - being GZ.We chose to save it for today knowing wed be heading up to the lookout and could grab this one on the way back down, so thats what we did. Headed towards the trees but then saw what must be GZ - it was. Log book signed, cache returned and back on the path down to the car park and bakery for a Smokey dog.marcussjd9#203TFTC

I have been working hard for the past few weeks to relinquish my membership of the Fat Bastards club with all manner of long walks and mountain climbs. This morning I slept a little later than normal, so the shorter, though brutal, climb up Mt Beerburrum seemed to fit the bill nicely.I have always bypassed Beerburrum and Mt Beerburrum when caching around the Glass House mountains. Perhaps with the concrete trail to the top of the mountain, I felt it was cheating a little bit ? Before climbing the mountain, however I did some groundwork on this multi at the bottom. And with all but 1 of the waypoints collected, I set out from the new trailhead at the School. Reaching the old parking area, I headed back down the road to the Hospital waypoint. Some quick calculations and I was glad to see that the cache was pretty much where I had expected before I left the bottom of the hill. I do love an ammo can. With the king of caching containers found, I was not surprised to find everything in perfect order. Signed my name as the sweat dripped off me. More sweat to come further up the hill. Glad to show this poor lonely multi a bit of love this morning. Thanks JATPete#4,790

Out with Duppers getting some caches to fill my grid.

After doing the Gemini caches, we headed for this multi.

Walked around collecting the coordinate clues then wished we had done them in a different order.

Quick find once at GZ

This morning, Shazzar66 and I left our homes around dawn-o’clock to climb the Twins/Mt Tunbubudla. By the end of our climbs, we were both exhausted, and in need of coffee and food.

We stopped at Beerburrum for an early lunch and even though we were worn out, we decided to find the two Multi’s while here. This one was our first. We found the closer waypoints and then walked down the road to the further two. There were two options: left or right. We went right. We chose poorly. What’s 19,000 steps and 473 vertical anyway!

Eventually the cache was found, log signed and everything returned to where it belonged. Interesting Multi. I had no idea about the history of this area, which was fascinating. FP for the information that I learned today, not so much for the double walk up the hill, although that was our fault. TFTC Just a Trifle

Whilst visiting muggle friends for a few days, I needed another multi for a challenge I'm working towards.
This was a nice easy tour around to gather the required numbers and to work out, maths easier than the last one
Thank you Just a Trifle for this good multi and where cache was found quickly

A fabulous day out with the kids hiking up Mt Beerburrum, and then heading to the Glasshouse Lookout for sunset. It certaintly didn't disappoint! The legs are tired but it was worth it for the eye candy. Here's my youngest proudly pointing out the mountain she climbed only minutes earlier. We were lucky to get to the lookout just on sunset, and watched the light slowly fade from the sky against the backdrop of Mt Beerwah. What a wonderful sight.

I left the track to grab this cache, and the kids let out a woop woop when they heard the familiar sound of an ammo can being opened. And then laughed as Mum let out a woop woop when she discovered an original log. Double bonus!!!

Made the trip down here to do the Bike Trail
Added a few lab stages and this multi too.
Gathered the info on our tour of the town, unusual spot for a hospital? Maybe lots of fresh air and sunshine up there.

Nice old school container.

Just a Trifle I found your cache Beerburrum Heritage on 3/7/2022, 10:50 am. This is my find 3675 and find # 1 today. Thanks for the history lesson. All information gathered and processed and the cache was found quickly. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN

Love caching in winter so headed up to do the B/W Trail by foot plus others around the area. We had to do this one considering the name of the park it started in (although our surname has 2 t’s! - but close enough!). Doing this in the order of the waypoints made it very enjoyable. Loved the trail and the bit of exercise to the final waypoint and cache. Thanks Just a Trifle for the multi.

Cute little mission. Would of been easier if we realised there were way points hahahahhaa.

No idea why you would put a hospital in this location.
Thanks for the cache. Found w Billy91

Need to remember to look for way points but eventually figured it out!

Thought the last sign was a dead end but alas came away with a find!

A bit of a drizzle set in as I was about to attack this cache. Managed to sign my name without getting to wet

08-Jan-22
Found today with Peppa, Giraffe18 and 2manytrailers. Peppa has once again planned a day of adventure for our group - the fact that it is raining is not a deterrent (for the others at least - I may or may not have supervised from the car for a few of our other caches so far).
So off on a little historical tour to get all the required information. The pioneers were such amazing people. I couldn't even begin to imagine the trepidation of being allotted your 'farm' with your newly gained skills, bringing along the family and starting your new life on the land. The fact these people made a go of it creating a town with all the amenities is a testament to their determination. The location of the hospital would have been spectacular, however transporting all of the materials to construct it would have been arduous. Perhaps the physical outlook for the patients was part of the healing process.
Trailers made the find at this location with Peppa doing the signing for the group. With that done Trailers indicated a desire to walk to the top of the mountain. With the continuing rain and ridiculously high humidity I vetoed that idea - we shall have to bring her back here on a nice cool winters day. Thanks for the effort put in to creating this cache. Favourite point from me.

I’ve brought the regular crew of PirateLinda, Giraffe18 and 2manytrailers north in the hunt of a particular attribute for a crazy challenge…

With a break in the showers and a need for a comfort stop we worked our way around Beerburrum… The comprehensive information available was interesting and the final was well placed for the order that we went through the waypoints…

Tftc… a well constructed multi worth the time and effort…

This cache was done over the course of several years and at least three different occasions.
First many years ago, i happened to be stopped nearby an old school and managed to store some numbers away.
Then a year or so later i returned with sunshine58 and a former muggle aunt and collated the rest of the info, to learn that gz would be for the third visit.
Which happened to be yesterday, when the intrepid trio of davidwazza, e_smiley and myself were still looking for adventure after assailing mt beerwah.
By sheer coincidence, we parked up to make a direction decision only several hundred yards from the final itself, so decided to go have a gander while we were here.
Davidwazza discovered the cache upon arrival at gz and after signing duties were complete we moseyed ourselves back to the car and the last bit of adventure for the day.
Thank you just a trifle for this multi that's taken me years to finally claim a smiley for !

11-Jul-21
Fun day with smallwombat and davidwazza. After trekking Mt Beerwah, we looked for more caches. This was one of them. Smallwombat already did the hard work for this one over the years, I was his driver today, will have to do a reverse multi one day to visit the other waypoints.

Thanks for the cache and taking us here Just a Trifle. Interesting history.

11-Jul-21
Today, I joined a small group in hiking up Mount Beerwah in the Glass House Mountains. We had a reasonable starting time, and then proceeded up to the summit, to be rewarded with some terrific views of the surrounding mountains and plains. After taking a short detour past the summit geocaches, we were back at the car park in 6-7 hr. We managed to take a few more stops in the vicinity, and then I travelled solo south to Caboolture, where I managed to completed a few more Adventure Labs: *Caboolture Oldies* and *Sports of Caboolture*.

Following our Mount Beerwah summit hike, this was a common multi-cache that E_Smiley, smallwombat, and I had not yet found, and so we thought we would have a wander around Beerburrum. As it turned out, smallwombat looked through his notes to discover that he had already visited all of the multi-cache's waypoints, and had calculated GZ, but not yet finalised this geocache. Luckily he had found that, as it actually saved us a small amount of time (although I did want to walk around Beerburrum anyway to read of its history and heritage). We did end up visiting a couple of waypoints nevertheless today. We managed to park nearby, and made the ascent upwards, eventually making it to GZ, where the cache was found reasonably quickly. The cache container and logbook were in good shape, and always good to find an ammo can. Thanks Just a Trifle for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

So I looked at the print out of this cache I had in my hand. Printed in 2017... Okay, only took me 4 years to actually go get it.
With Cliff5009 to do a couple of Multi's in the area that I keep skipping over. So, a wander about to the first 4 waypoints, reading the info as we go. Waypoint 5 up the hill a bit, hoping the final is not ON TOP of the hill..... A bit warm for that. Now got all of the the information. Sit down on a comfy rock (only by comparison) to make sure the mathematics works....
Nope, all good. Cache soon found, and it is in excellent condition. Thanks for this cache and for a brief local history lesson.

Didn't think much was going to be involved with this one until we looked at the waypoints. "Aww man! I need to walk back up the mountain, I've already done that once", but off we went to grab all the required number which didn't take very long at all. We had our numbers and made our way to GZ for a quick find.

On my way to climb Mt. Beerburrum today with GEOBSF and GeoNayfee. After we had completed the walk we sat and looked at this little multi, hang on, more walking and it’s all over town, ok suck it up and lets go. With the relative numbers found it was off to collect and more walking lol. This took us just under an hour to complete but very interesting. A nice multi, thank you.

Thank you Just A Trifle for a lovely adventure around this town. I collected the required numbers and went back to the WP1 to work out the coords and decided to drive back to GZ to find the treasure as the day was getting very warm. Found my favourite cache container, log signed and returned where found. A fav from me!

Love a heritage trail and were waiting til we were back in town next to do this one. Today we brought a picnic lunch to have in the park but usually go to the awesome café across the road. We were most upset to see that the Black Squirrel had closed down. We took the lazy option today and drove to the waypoint up the hill then returned to the park to collate the answer. Glad we drove. Thanks for putting this cache here and bringing us back to Beerburrum. Its such a lovely spot and we love learning about our history.

bb and I had been in the area finding the B/W trail caches. We travelled back to Beerburrum from Glass House Mountains by train, and that dropped us close to some of the waypoints of this multi. On the walk back to the car we got the rest of the information and soon we were headed to the final. After finding a handy parking spot, we made our way to GZ and after a short search we came up with the goods. TFTC Just a Trifle Smile

Caching in and around Beerburrum and surrounds, we picked up a few caches with whitewebbs and this was one of them.

A straight forward multi and an easy find at GZ, cache and contents were in good condition.

Thanks Just a Trifle for the tour around the town and for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

After walking to the top of Beerburrum we enjoyed a coffee at the nearby cafe, and I talked Mr W into a multi! I really enjoyed the history we came across here, and we were pleased at the gz being close by the WPs. Thanks for a well planned multi.

3/4/19 10:16 am Find #2439
Wacky Wednesday with Wombles&Co and NyssaFlutterby, our last one before school holidays, and with the usual Wacky Wednesday weather, we opted for heading north and hoping it would be slightly less wet than the south we had originally planned.
So much interesting heritage here. And if it wasn't for the sign for the Hospital on the Hill, who would ever think a hospital would've been there?!
Cache found safe and sound, and I was glad to have applied the Bushmans as I got out for this, as the mosquitoes swarmed the other two this time (at the previous cache they all came for me instead)
Thanks for the cache Just a Trifle and for the little history lesson here today.

Cache number 200!!!

What an interesting little place Beerburrum is. Who would have thought that there would be so much history here.

After finding the info needed to gain the correct co-ordinates, Kammo07, the Geoteen and myself stopped for a well needed picnic lunch after climbing (staggering) up Mt Beerburrum in a nice little park near the school.

We then discovered we had to backtrack a little to find the cache, which was easier said than done as the GPS and phone were bouncing all over the place. Eventually they settled down and the cache was discovered.

Thankyou for the history lesson and cache.

We were working through the waypoints for this cache when we realised where it was taking us, so changed tactics and sorted the numbers for the other nearby multi first. We then returned to the attack on this one and soon located the required points and final location. Thanks for two great multis Just a Trifle Smile

We started the multi at the cafe across the road then brought our food to the picnic bench and began our numbers hunt! We did the first three WPs on foot then back to the car for the rest
The required digits were easily located and our calculations for the final looked promising Once at GZ a quick find was made! This was a great way to learn a little history about the struggles and successes of this gorgeous little town. A favourite point from me

On our way to the Dunethin event later in the day so we thought we would go via the Steve Irwin Way and pick up a few caches on the way. So glad we stopped for this one as we learnt so much about the history of Beerburrum. Thanks Just a Trifle for all the effort of putting together a multi cache. Giving a Favourite Point for your cache.

03-Aug-17
Went out for a day in Beerburrum with Lost in Transit who gets a week of multi access for Mary Hydes treasure. And we haven't done a multi yet so the two in this area are a great place to start. Enjoyed some interesting history and the yummiest lunch at the cafe after gathering all the info we needed and then soon found the cache before making it back into town on time for school pick ups. TFTC.

01-Aug-17
Turned out that I had a free morning as work appointment was cancelled so decided to drive a bit further down the road to find a multi for the current Mary Hyde treasure challenge. Had an early start after dropping A at the bus at 7.30am. Unfortunately, chose the Bruce highway and had to wait half an hour in traffic to clear an accident near the Caloundra turnoff, before turning on to Steven Irwin Way and in the direction of the mountains. ( Glad I don't have to drive on the highway very regularly...)
Busy in Beerburrum when I got there, must be school drop off time. Found a few clues close to the park then wandered through town to the old bakery past the train station, then back to the car and drove up to the hospital site. Already a few cars at the walk start, must be some people up the mountain already. Done that tough slog before, so glad not to need to do it again today. Razz
All clues found and quick calculation determined that the final gz was not far away at all... Headed off on foot and soon spotted a good hide. The trusty ammo can was soon revealed and log signed.
Took stay calm clip, left smiggle LOL stamp.
Great little historical adventure. Cool

What a lovely walk around Beerburrum taking in the history of the town. Can not for the life of me understand why they built the hospital up the hill! Interesting multi and well worth the time. TFTC Left a monster finger puppet.

The plan was to head up the Sunny Coast early this fine and cool morning. With a few fixed caches targetted, had some time to look for interesting caches and the two multi caches at Beerburrum definitely fitted the bill.

Somehow the way points were not getting picked up on the new GPS. So it took a little longer to go round the area, having never taking the time in the past to stop by. Being involved in the construction game, could not comprehend building the hospital where they did. Nice views but so impractical for anything else!!

Found the container in good order. Interesting journey round town. Thanks for the cache Just a Trifle.

I met up with stortigirls after work today and we made our way to Beerburrum. What a lovely little town. Not a lot of people about, so we drove around collecting the required information. Then, with calculations made, we headed to GZ. Geez, this little road is busier than the main road!!!! We found a safe place to pull off the road and were soon making the short walk to GZ. There, the cache was quickly located and the log signed. TFTC

Solved the questions couple of months ago for the September challenge, but as we were travelling around Australia, we didn't pick this one. Neither for October nor November nor December. We left it for the February challenge plus the "long did not find one" challenge.

Went in the early early morning with our two geograndkids right after the Caboolture Sunday markets and then straight back home in the pool.

Tftc with the interesting history!

Ked around Beerburrum. For a little town has lots of interesting history. We found the cache after visiting each clue site

13-Aug-16
After completing the other multi nearby, Dora the Explorer, Phil Serenity and I moved on to this one.

Some of the clues were easy enough to find whilst others took a little more effort but after a while all the information was obtained. After doing the calculations were made, a set of coordinates were obtained we set off on foot to find the cache.

As with a lot of our finds, we followed the GPS which suggested a bush bash which we did only to find that the cache was not too far away from an easier track. Nonetheless we made our way to GZ and soon Phil Serenity had the cache in hand.

The log was signed by all of us and returned to the cache and the cache replaced exactly as found.

We then made our way back to the vehicles via a much easier track.

What a great little trip around Beerburrum. After climbing the small hill we walked around town with 4ando revelling in the history of the place. Geowife enjoyed the pencils at the school and we even witnessed the world's largest dog.

The final cache location broke our hearts a little as we had driven past GZ and this time we just walked. Crackin fun with our geroes 4ando. tftc

Absolutely loved this cache! First multi and it took us awhile to figure it out but managed to get there in the end. Thanks for the awesome cache!

07-Aug-16
Out caching with our geo-padowan's, woodyrothwell, we targeted this multi cache after a fantastic hike up to beerburrum lookout, we arrived at the first way point, and started our adventure into the history of this location. After visiting each waypoint, and seeing "dead people" at the local school, we realized at the last minute that we have got too retrack our original hike to finalize the cache. Reaching GZ, we soon had cache in hand, but beware, are they dead people or scare crows?

I was staying up at Maleny for the weekend as a result of attending a wedding on my wife's side of the family. As part of the arrangements, I negotiated compensation, for having to suffer through the various events, in the form of a day of caching. The wife and daughter would travel up with her sister and I was free to roam the countryside on the way to Maleny, gathering caches at my leisure.

This was another one I had missed on my previous visit. Unfortunately the order I visited the waypoints today meant I did not utilise my time as efficiently as I could have so some backtracking was required before signing my name in the log. TFTC

We are spending the long weekend at Glass House campground and had a lovely walk around the base of Mt. Tibrogargan before getting back into the geomobile to grab some smilies. Thanks.

I came here from the northern suburbs specifically for this and another nearby cache in order to complete Fangsoki's February thang. It is always interesting to learn about the history of these small towns. Having found the cache, I noticed some TB's inside, but since I can not contribute to any real progress for them, I left them alone. I came up here last winter with my wife on an exploring expedition. I never thought I would be back looking for a cache. This is find number 777 for me. Thanks for a great multi JaT Big Grin

I was headed up to Mt Beerwah for a race and decided to collect some caches along the way.

I had fun running around Beerburrum chasing down the clues. It's a shame one of the signs has gone missing.

Another late afternoon trip out and about in company with the apprentice Geo Dawg, We decided to try for a couple of Multi's in our local area. Thanks for the opportunity to explore this beautiful little town and its surrounds and learn some of it's history at the same time. It makes you wonder what the authorities were thinking when it came to these Soldier Settlements it was the same all over the country. They just set them up to fail great reward for serving your King and Country. Will award a favourite for the history lesson

Thanks for the great cache and adventure Just a TrifleSmileSmile

This Day in History
Sunday, January 17, 1773. : Captain James Cook's ship, the 'Resolution', becomes the first known ship to cross the Antarctic Circle.
James Cook was born at Marton in North Yorkshire, on 27 October 1728. He was the son of a farm labourer, and held no great ambitions, being apprenticed in a grocer/haberdashery when he was 16. Lack of aptitude in the trade led his employer to introduce Cook to local shipowners, who took him on as a merchant navy apprentice. Here he was educated in algebra, trigonometry, navigation, and astronomy, which later set Cook up to command his own ship.
Cook is known for being the first European to sight the eastern coast of Australia, thus paving the way for British settlement of the continent. Two years after this journey, in 1772, Cook was sent again to discover if another great land lay east of Australia. Commanding the ship, 'Resolution', Cook became the first known European to cross the Antarctic Circle, on 17 January 1773, in latitude 67 degrees south. However, pack ice and the solid freezing of the ship's sails prevented further exploration of the region.
