We are ona caravanning trip around Australia and we called into Port Augusta for a look around. We pulled out the bikes and went for a ride to grab a few caches. We had the place to ourselves to search. I managed to spy it and I got my partner to retrieve. Thanks for the cache
" insert nano rant here " I took one shelter and Mogni took the other. We looked and then got some torches, it was dusk and the light was fading. Not a quick find but not a long time either. We did need a TOTT to get the cache out, someone pushed it in to far. Found with Mogni. Plan A trip involved us going to Farina to the bakery up there since the bakery is open only 6 weeks a year and take the 4x4 so we can get more of the caches that aren't on the highway. This trip was supposed to be 3 and a half or 4 and a half days long. It turns out that life changed at the last minute and the trip got shorted to 2 days. So we travelled up just to Port Augusta to place the JAMS account virtual reward 4.0 cache and place my adventure lab cache ( and a couple more that just happened to fall out the 4x4 ). We targeted more dirt road caches since we had the 4x4 and replaced the caches that had broken containers, any caches with logs found full or almost full were replaced. The wether could have been better for the trip but all the heavy down pours happened between caches and we just cached in light rain.
Sir_spectre has been unwell for a few weeks, so we decided to take a weekend off from chores and go and have some fun. many caches were found, many caches now have new logsheets a couple of containers even got replaced. As sir_spectre had his car, so we tackled some of the dirt roads and got his car dirty. Thanks to Liz and Bruce from mogni
Had to come into Port Agutta for some supplies, from Mambray Creek, so found a cpl of oldies...Wow, an old L&B cache I not stopped at previously!Found the lil sucker at the co-ords, took a lil to spot though!TNLNSL Thanks
Last cache of the day before heading back to the CP. Even though a chilly wind was blustering we managed to find this old cache. Thanks Liz&Bruce for placing the cache and to Freddo for maintaining it.
On our travels we found ourselves in Port Augusta and after the Anzac dawn service had some time to grab this cache, it took us longer than it should have but soon geo hubby had the little sucker in hand. Thanks for placing it
LATE LOG - found 22/04/2024Found with a couple of friends while visiting a few places up north. Had a great time, with lots of geocaches along the way. TFTCSigned as "Tricache" - Poisin55, Chubly09, myself
Well we found two different containers. the owner has been notified, we logged one and replaced both

Last night fitzy_1965 and I stayed at the Wilmington Hotel. Old facilities but new air con was a winner! And honest locals as we realised in the morning that we had left the car keys on the dashboard last night! Our plan was to collect oldies & counties and whatever inbetween whilst making our way back to my cousin's house for a family dinner. All caches found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned. This was one of them.
34,297. Found with minniek during our trip to The Great Leap Forward Mega Event in Adelaide on 29th February 2024.Day 4 : After staying overnight at the Wilmington Pub, we headed out hunting for more Counties, oldies and other interesting caches. We do enjoy meandering around the countryside doing this. Hopefully we will cross off a bunch more South Australian Counties today. Lots of great caches to choose from as well. This was the next cache - and it was a nice quick find once at GZ - well spotted by minniek. Stamped the log, replaced the cache as found, then we continued on to the next one. Thanks Liz and Bruce !!
Out caching with my caching buddy, MrsShep77, and our faithful drivers. Thanks for the great hides.
TFTC Liz and Bruce your cache "A Man and his Shed" that we found today. After a morning in Whyalla getting tyres on the motorhome we finally left and headed for Port Augusta to camp at the RV Park behind the Football Club on Old Power Station Road. After lunch we headed out to gather some caches. This was one of those that we targeted. We spoke to the CO as a PAF. After discussion and further searching we all realised that the cache had gone AWOL. With permission we placed a nano little higher y-than the terrain rating suggests. Hopefully it will last a bit longer.Find Count: 17693
Found during a big day of travel after camping out near Nundroo for the night and arriving back in Adelaide from a four-week trip to Western Australia. Second visit here, got it this time! Thanks for the cache Liz and Bruce!
A quick dash to Whyalla for a vehicle transfer. Nice warm day for it too.A detour here to a quiet spot in Port Augusta that I havent been to before. Might have been nice if not for the strong smell of urine here. I have a big shed at home, but I rarely go into it. I had GZ to myself, so uninterrupted searching, but still took me a while. I agree with ttrogg - SOS indeed. Thanks for the hide Liz and Bruce. Its officially a mega.GCA1DNA The Great Leap ForwardAdelaide, South Australia, February 29, 2024.Wed love to have your company.
#5256 Sun is setting on a long day of activity including a ride on the Pichi richi. We grabbed some butterfish and chips from a nearby shop and headed down to the shed for dinner. The cache took quite a bit of search but was finally spied just before conceding. TFTC Liz and Bruce.
Third day of the dynamic duos venture north. After completing the main aim of the trip yesterday it was time to head south, only ones we wanted before making Port Augusta were a trad in Quorn, just to show we'd been there, and an earthcache in Pichi Richi Park. Once in Port Augusta, eight caches on the must do list and an AdLab were done before checking into the accommodation. Continued caching until dark and found another 14 traditionals before dark and calling it a day.
Spent quite a while looking without success before reading some logs and guessing what we might be looking for, and did wonder about Freddo doing maintenance for it. Eventually the Rat's keen eyes spotted the SOS and our names were added to the log.

Thanks to Liz and Bruce for placing this cache on our playing field.

Day three of our four day trip.
The dynamic duo, SA Sewer Rats and ttrogg.
This was one of many stops.
We parked the geo mobile, and started to search the shelter.
About to give up.
We read some previous logs.
Then the Rat went for one more look, and spotted the cache.
Insert nano rant.
Ttrogg retrieved the tiny cache.
We wrote our names on the log and returned how we found it. Tftc

Holy heck. We almost gave up on this one, its the smallest one we've found yet. Glad we persisted!
I’m super short and this cache is super high! Thankfully I breed tall kids who grabbed and replaced for me after I found it

Nice seaside area, despite the tide being low. Would be really nice with more water. Spotted after a short search in good condition. Tftc.
This weekend, I headed to Whyalla to catch up with a few other Geocachers and attempt some of the trails there. On Saturday, we targeted the FTF power trail from Whyalla to Iron Knob, and then spent the evening and the subsequent morning driving some of Whyalla's back tracks. On Sunday, I visited Cowleds Landing and back north, only to get severely bogged in one of Whyalla's clay pans. I then returned home via the August series.
Today, we started the day at a meet/greet breakfast event, and then I headed out with hevwalker and scramping for a few more geocaches south-west of Whyalla along the back tracks and main road, followed by the December trail series. I then continued south visiting Cowleds Landing and the proclaimed nudist beach. I next found *Potty Time*, only to realise that I had driven on the nearby clay pans, and then sank into the soft clay below on my way out. Eventually I had help in getting out, and finished my remaining time in Whyalla completing the pipeline August series, and calling into Whyalla Conservation Park for a few high favourite caches. I then made the long journey back to Adelaide stopping at a few miscellaneous geocaches along the way.
I had exchanged messages with the SpudBex who had replaced the cache on behalf of the CO, and gave me some hints and a spoiler photograph to where the cache was left. I swore that I had searched that area, but nevertheless, on my return back through Port Augusta, I detoured past this location, and took another look. Just as my memory had recalled, there was no cache anywhere in that area (how do muggles find a nano to take/remove?). I checked all along the ground just in case the weather had removed the cache, and fallen in the dirt or something, but no cache found there either. So in the end, I concluded that the cache was missing.
I had chatted to the Maintenance CO on Friday, and he had given me a few spare caches only a few weeks before, so I have now replaced on his behalf in a location that he described. I'm hoping that the geocache should be able to survive there, and it isn't exactly 100% evil this time too. I'll send comments and photos to the Maintenance CO separately. Thanks Liz and Bruce for the cache placement, and Freddo for its ongoing maintenance.

Today, I travelled from Adelaide to Whyalla, making a few brief stops along the way. I needed to arrive at Port Augusta for the geocaching event, and after having dinner, I made the slow approach to Whyalla finding the geocaching trails along the old road, including *Port Augusta's First PT* series, arriving rather late.
No luck at this location today. I was here for a good 20 minutes looking around, and even reached out to the maintenance CO for some help. He gave me some advice, and so searched around that area, but decided to call it quits after the last Geocachers who helped to replace this one could have placed it anywhere. Thanks anyway Liz and Bruce, and Freddo. An interesting location.

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children.
Corona Virus.....
Caching at least keeps us sane in a time of social distancing.
Arghrrr!
I think we are going insane at this hide. Either it is too well hidden for us, or it is missing. We spent way too long here searching for this illusive cache. Sorry Liz & Bruce, we should have stayed another 30 minutes perhaps.

Took a little while but JEM's eagle eyes soon had it spotted. Did a temp hinge fix with some duck tape!

Very muddy approach after recent rains. Geo-hubby spotted it and recorded our visit. We came on our trip prepared with various spare containers but alas we don’t have one of those to replace this broken one. Everything is still dry though. Thanks Liz & Bruce
This one took some searching...a sneaky hide. TFTC
Have added another sheet for logs but cache could use some maintenance- lid of container has a broken hinge so no longer attached to body.

Apologies for the late log ... life interrupted my logging. I hate it when that happens!
Mrs Gizmo escaped for a two day caching trip to Port Augusta with Dr Owl and CPwanderer.
Day 2 had us making a few finds before breakfast and a few more before lunch.
We spent a long time here. Almost ready to give up and Doctor Owl spotted the very sneaky hide. A tool was needed from the owlmobile to make the retrieval.

Found with Gizmos Gang and Dr Owl!!! This took us ages ...... I think we were ready to give up when the Doc had the "Ah Ha" moment!!! Thanks for the hide!!
CPWanderer, Gizmo's Gang and Owl were heading home after an excellent adventure, but not before a few more caches. This one nearly eluded them, but after getting desperate, Owl finally spotted something and went to the Owlmobile for the required height-extender. Let it be noted that owl has a garage, but not a shed.
Found It!
Nice to finally put this one to bed after a DNF here years ago. I arrived and had the place to myself but soon a dog walker arrived. Then someone arrived and started unloading a kayak, followed by another dog walker. Eventually they all left and I soon spotted the cache!

This cach drove us nutty after 6 other times of not being able to find it, I asked a former finder the roundabout area it was.
Geokid: Mum I found it.
Me: Where.
Geokid: Right hear.
Me: No you didn't, I did.
Retrieved signed & returned, thank god that one is done!!!
Could use a new container falling apart & log is slightly wet.

###Trip to the *Red Centre Experience* 2017###
Unfortunately, half of our team is home-based due to work commitment, the other half is lucky enough to be Alice Springs bound, in the company of Team Indiana08. Therefore, for a couple of weeks, our team will be attending some events and possibly finding the odd cache in different states.
---
Being stuck in Port Augusta with car problems for a very rainy long weekend was not on our plan. While still waiting, we used this beautiful sunny ANZAC day to get out of the confines of the dry caravan, explore the city a bit and find a few caches.
This area was luckily deserted on this public holiday. It could have been quite busy here given the facilities. This gave us a bit of time to inspect the structure and eventually make the find.

#6465 - 10:45; Day 7 of the Alice Mega Road Trip with Sol de lune and albida33, so most logs were signed S.A.L. as a result. After a night in Port Augusta, today's plan was to cache in and around Port Augusta and Stirling North before heading south towards Whyalla for a couple of nights and produced 88 finds along with only 4 DNFs. After a circuit around the back blocks of Stirling North we were now back in town collecting a few more. Eventually located this cache, but probably just as well we had three sets of eyes for the hunt. TFTC Liz and Bruce
Alice trip 2017. Day 5. With Sol de Lune and LuckL10n we started caching around Pt Augusta and Stirling before heading to Whyalla via a few of the short trails. I have looked here a few times and I think the cache has moved each time. Oh well, we found it today, then I had to deal with a puncture.
Thanks.

On the road to the Alice Springs Mega with LuckyL10n and Albida33. We headed through Burra and Port Pirie before arriving in Port Augusta for the trek up the highway. Collected a good number of caches and all were found with no issues and the logs were soon signed. (Some logs were signed as S.A.L. to save space.)
Thanks for the cache and fun in getting to it and finding it.
