This was another of the caches we were hoping to find a year after the previous cacher, so imagine our dismay when we arrived to find the track closed to prevent Kauri Dieback. In the end we had to sit in the car and eat one of our massive pile of geocaching snacks, and drew the attention of Santa's double when he drove by.

01-Jan-23
The reserve has been closed to prevent Kauri Dieback so it might be a good idea to disable the cache so that nobody else
a) drives up here and is disappointed
b) drives up and decides to try to sneak around the fence anyway.

No indication of when it might reopen.

01-Jan-23
We were hoping to find this one today however the tracks are closed due to kauri dieback so we couldn't

01-Jan-23
This geocacher reported that there is a problem with this cache.

01-Jan-23
Will see what happens with this one

01-Jan-22
Despite being a little overgrown and a couple of fallen trees across the track I really enjoyed my walk through this lovely bit of bush. We weren't too sure where the loop track went so decided to head back the way we came in

01-Jan-22
Such a lovely walk to GZ.
Beautiful bush.

A nice walk to here over and around tree-fall but all good. Not sure how long the loop walk was that the sign referred to so made this my turn around spot. Cache was all good here, just feeling a little bit lonely I guess. Cheers G.

Bit of a bigger day today, plenty of finds (35), 15 kms walked, and a few target areas visited and cached 'out'. I was on the trail at Moirs Hill/Pohuehue Falls Track, at 0700 and got back home at around 1630 after also visiting McElroy Reserve, Mahurangi West, and some smaller walks out the back of Puhoi so a variety of scenery experienced too. Thanks to all COs for their caches.

Seems ok now, according to Council online

02-Feb-20
Track is closed due to kauri dieback prevention.

I was surprised to see such a low T score given that this walk is close to a 500m bush walk to find the cache. Had a quick look on obvious places to find the cache then finally looked in the right spot.
Thanks to the hook grass I'm going to have to take more care when shaving my legs as they will find a stray hair and grab on. Thank goodness I'm not a male. Track lovely and dry and the day is not too hot so a very enjoyable excursion.

(2991) Out with 0B80B8 today collecting some caches in the Warkworth area. Lovely wee bit of bush. On a mission today, so straight in to collect the cache and straight back out again. TFTC

What better excuse to head off for a days caching, than a new GCHQ challenge and some new souvenirs to earn. Headed off south with DaffyNZ to pick up as many as possible in the general Warkworth area.

After picking up the one at the entrance, we made a quick walk through the reserve to this one which was soon found where expected. Thankfully, the hook grass had nearly finished seeding, so not many seeds to pluck off the legs on our return. TFTC

Starting my with a nice swim at wenderholm..and then remembered there was a road i had often wondered about just a little further on... so decided to find out where it went..and found this little park!...ill have to return when more suitably atired to sus out the loop track... but for now got my legs nice ",plucked" ,by all the hook grass instead lil.. cache dry and in order

Have been meaning to come to this reserve for absolutely ages and the new caches in the area finally got us off our backsides. Happy to find there was nothing to ban the dogs they had a lovely walk here. After finding the cache we walked the loop track. Not long after we were commenting that it was a well defined track despite the lack of obvious traffic we hit a section where we had to hunt for the dots on the trees to keep from ending up goodness where - several times as I was paying attention to not falling or slipping I ventured off course. The dogs caught sight of a goat and all hell broke loose for a bit but other than that we managed to get ourselves a bit of exercise as well as a spot of caching in this morning so a win win! Thanks for bringing us here G-2!

We have never ventured out on this road before today. Parked at the entrance to the reserve and had an enjoyable walk out to GZ. After finding the cache I went on to explore the loop walk. Thanks for bringing me to this lovely patch of mixed native forest.

Unexpected Geocaching trip today. First geocache we've found. Great fun and a beautiful walk in to find it!

05-Sep-15
Lovely track but mustn't have been used for a while as cobwebs across it!!

07-Feb-15
Nice reserve for a walk. Unfortunately not very well advertised. No signs at all on the highway leading to the reserve. A lot of interestingly shaped trees all along the walkway. TFTC

Has been on my "to do list" for such an age. So nice quick detour as heading north after an airport drop off in the wee hours this morning. Beautiful reserve with a lovely wee metalled track. Most enjoyable wonder even with a little bird song along the way. Shame this place hasn't a few more visits. Well worth the detour and do hope more will drop in. Tftc

Ran down to the cache for where I parked the car. Didn't have to much time for a look around as have got lots more caches planed for today. Thanks for bringing me here.

Thank you for the cache....great walk. Happy Xmas to all.

22-Sep-12
Took a detour on our way north to visit this cache. We had suspected that the car in the carparking area may be a cachers and sure enough it wasn't long until we met the driver. Great to catch up with GeorgePR, an old friend who is now an active cacher. After a good long chat we continued on towards GZ and soon had the cache in hand.
Cache all intact and nice and dry, thanks for sharing another great walkway TFTC.

Just love these bush walks. This one sure is a bit off the beaten track. Also met up with old friends Rosmar who introduced me to geocaching a while back. TFTC.

Have been meaning to drive down this road for some time and coupled with a beautiful out of reach section today was the day for visiting the reserve. It was pretty good under foot today, despite a bit of rain recently and the grass didn't pose too much of a problem. GPS struggled at times under the canopy but we got there in the end. - A ferrari + a clog.

12-Jun-11
Out trying to finish off my unfounds between Mahurangi and Hatfields Beach.

This reserve must be one that only the locals and very few outsiders apart from cachers that know about. It was a bit muddy today, had to use low ratio on the hill up to the GZ. A couple of trees have fallen down over the track but is still passable.

Cheers for the cache.

a very nice bit of bush however I should of taken advice and worn longs

19-Dec-09
Ouch! forgot the long trousers on this hot day, introduced wave to what we used to call 'barstard grass' (because thats what we would say every time we tramped through it)
we met the local wild goats on the way in too
lovely spot
great little cache thanks Glyn

Painful trip to GZ thanks to all the hook grass, nice reserve I didn't know about. Met a couple in there whose son has just got into caching, and they usually go out with him. Had a good chat about it.

Timed our visit about just right.... no mud, and luckily the grasses haven’t started seeding yet, although there were a few deadfalls on the track to impede the progress of Mini YuGeo. Nice bush walk, and great views on the drive there. Many thanks for this one G-2.

Awesome! My first cache! I didn't even know that area of bush reserve was even there, and I have lived in the
area for some time! Few trees down here and there, but makes it all the more fun. Thanks!!

This was one of those WOW factor reserves. Would never have known about it - thats what caching is all about though! Really enjoyed the walk through the bush, and lots of lovely trees to admire. What a hidden gem. TFTC

Saw this pop up last night but as Im made of Brown sugar I decided I would hold off till morning.

Pretty windy up here this morning and about 100 meters down the track I heard a huge craaack and a tree feel down in front of me! Nearly filled my pants - a close call for sure!!

Lovely little path, bit of mud but all ok.

Swapped gc's .

FTF #89!
