#7862We're on an LGA hunting road-trip, chasing bare LGAs from Shoalhaven to Wagga and beyond. Today we heading down to Bega, trying to squeeze in as many fun caches as we can into the long trip. Great weather - cool and dry. That took a while to find, as the hint is misleading. A flick through past logs put us on the right track. Thanks for the cache!
#7862Day One of our Southern NSW trip. Home > BegaAn early start today and were on the road, targetting whatever DTs, attributes and types we want. end of copy paste Took a while but got there in the end, reading the logs help as the pruning seems to have made the hint a bit misleading. Log is slightly damp. TNLN SLThanks for placing and maintaining this cache The Rats
Long weekend with Contesta, Kittykatch, Joolay, DTY73, Tankengine, fitzy_1965, and MinnieK with the main goal to finish the SES series. Signing as SHI - Shellharbour Invasion. Took a while to find. Log is a bit damp. TFTC *Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
Ended up finding after searching. Log is dampLooking forward to a warmer weekend enjoying the lovely Wollongong area with Kittykatch, contesta, ispoeda, Tankengine, dty73, fitzy_1965 and minniek. Signing Thanks for getting me out and about The Rats
Find # 1218325/5/2024 13:23Caching adventures continue and trying to tick off as many on the solved pile as I can. Headed across to the coast for the long weekend to meet up with a few other CBR cachers. The main target is the SES series, having worked on these puzzles last year and gradually made the solves. Some with help and others straightforward. Either way it was an enjoyable series, generally. Now its time to collect. And of course with so many others to choose from in this area, its a busy weekend.Always shenanigans in a group as you never quite know what might happen but its guaranteed to be fun! The group consists of Joolay, KittyKatch, isopeda, minniek, fitzy_65, dty73, and Tankengine. Signing as SHIAll caches located, retrieved, signed, and replaced. Thanks The Rats for I.R.A
Chooo ooo [Found] on a quick trip down to Shell Harbour with dty73! Found with a bunch of other Canberra and local cachers! Signed SHI (Shell Harbour Invaders)Thanks The Rats!
Tankengine and I drove down from Canberra leaving at 6:30am Saturday morning and joined our friends (Kittykatch, Joolay, contesta, Isopeada, minniek and fitzy_1965) and we had become part of the Shellharbour Invasion Team (SHI). We could only stay one night, so up early Sunday for a quick bite to eat and more caching before we had to leave everyone to head home again. We had a fun time caching, logging many finds and a couple DNFs, enjoyed a lovely dinner at the very busy club at the great event on Saturday night and most of all hanging out with great friends. This cache: Took a little and found it. Tftc!!!
Busy day today with the air show, but i got in there and crawled around, but could not spot it.
Wow a smiley face now . After a hint from geofriend that I should ignore the hint given , I was quickly able to locate the hide that held the cache . TFTC .. golden paper clip left
A little research for the solve. After a long search I gave up on the hint and made the find. TFTC
Visit to Shellharbour
A trip to the coast wiith GrimRaider. We visited the Historic Aviation Museum yesterday and took a 2 hour tour to check out all the planes. The tour took longer then we thought, so we didn't have a lot of time to search for this cache. I came back this morning and made the find - thanks to a mate that had already found it. Cool puzzle and I should have found the cache yesterday. Thanks for the puzzle and the hide The Rats

Found after a paddle cache in the area. Nice puzzle. Needed help with GZ as the hint was difficult for us to understand. Thanks Rats for placing the cache.
Out on a Lake Illawarra SES clean up mission today. Lots of great Rats caches to collect on a perfect summers day. Fabulous to finally get a chance to collect this after solving this many years ago. The hint was somewhat confusing given the current landscaping.

#3384 We had worked out GZ for this cache when we were in town a few months back, but ran out of time. Up again for a family visit we made our way here and after a reasonably short search in the rain, DeadThief came up with the goods. Thanks The Rats for preparing and placing this cache.
#1544 Another solved puzzle finally collected. Both Turtle and I had solved this one a few months ago and didn’t end up having the chance to come and find it. So into the solved pile it went. Back in the area today whilst visiting some relatives, after saying goodbye, we headed over to GZ and begin our search.
Turtle initially had a fairly good sweep over of the area whilst I stayed under the umbrella. He found a few good spots but nothing was hiding there. He returned to the umbrella and we switched places. I begin my search and just as I was shifting position something caught my attention in the corner of my eye. Oh yes that is quite familiar! The cache was in hand and log soon signed. Thanks The Rats for placing and maintaining this one through the years!

A day out with Everest High to do a loop around Lake Illaware to find the SES caches from The Rats. When close to our route, we also picked up a few other caches.
It was a great day out; very hot but the cold sea breeze made the drive very pleasant.

To day I joined MinnieK and Fitzy for a day trip to the Shell Harbour region, with the CCE Christmas event as the high light of the trip. Lots of fog on the range, but only overcast down on the coast. It was a late trip home via a CITO, but a great day.
The trip to the airport also took us close to the HARS and it was great to see the various aircraft on display. I have been meaning to visit properly for a long time. I am sure I will get there one day.
Thanks for the cache The Rats

Fitzy_1965, Albida33 and I decided to head to the coast for a bit of caching today.....ok the lure of a CCE helped in making that decision.
Have attended a few ICC Christmas Parties so was nice that it was combined as a CCE. We then headed out for caching in the area until we needed to head back up the hill for a CITO before travelling to Canberra for the evening in preparation for another day of caching.
We had a little bit of hit and miss today but the caches we did find were found quickly and easily.
I actually hate the smell of the currently blooming flowers here so found this one with one hand over my nose! Left TB for next finders to move on.

Down to have a visit to hars and the 747 as my previous visit was the first day of first covid lockdown and they gave me a free ticket to come back and actually go on the planes that where on display. Had worked out the puzzle long ago and found after touring the museum. Tftc tnln
Having been here for the last two days doing the special effects bombing for the Illawarra air show caching was the last thing on our minds but today when we came back to do the last minute clean up we noticed this mystery that we had solved quite awhile ago sitting not too far away.
The area was totally different to what it had been over the last few dfays meant that we were free to search where we did a few laps before locating the well hidden cache and our name was added to the log.
Thanks The Rats for the puzzle which was within our capabilities and for the hide in an appropriate location.

After solving this one a long time ago with great difficulty, I was finally in the area to pick this one up. A few laps around before getting my hand on it, thank you for the cache!
Out with mrwhiskers76 today. Thought we’d stop and do a few caches this morning before soccer. This one took a while to look for but we got there in the end. Thank you!
The find took me almost as long as the solve. I upturned every rock, except the one I wanted. Wasn't until I sat down that I spotted it. Doh! Watched the locals preparing for flight while I signed the log. TFTC
This cache caused us a lot of trouble. First, it took us a while to solve the puzzle due to us seniors being computer illiterate. Fortunately, geocaching is helping us improve. Then we had to previously DNF after a lengthy search. Today we returned trying to be optimistic, almost in tears, the stress was taking its toll .... we found it straight away. It was peeking out at us and just waiting to be found. How nice. TFTC The Rats
TFTC! Took a little longer than expected. Took gem, left clay.

Mrs Gaztek was the puzzle solver here and she definitely went to the Irish group for her first guess. But now, knowing more about this location and having a good luck around has us hungry to return and visit the museum. Funny but just as we pulled in near GZ, a handful of souped-up cars came along too. What's up?? SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek
My mind definitely goes to Ireland. This one on the list for our trip down the eastern coast. TFTC
Always good to fly from the IRA. Go RAAF.
Btw the last week saw the RAAF air show in Edinburugh- simply brilliant.
Found on another epic caching loop with H423L which included the St Arnaud mega and many other magnificent Australian locations.
Thanks The Rats and clear skies from TeamAstro. ️ Cache the planet!

We eventually came up with an acronym of DAMNP for the group. We mostly concentrated on park and grab caches, but I noticed I had this puzzle in my GPS which I knew meant I had solved it long ago. We managed to find it after a few minutes.

Here at the Oz Geomuster, Found your cache today. The Rats, thank you so much for placing it.
Great to be able to log a find after a DNF. Thanks for the cache and bringing us here.
I wasn't able to find all answers needed so thanks to my helpers. Thank you also for the cache.
The journey to the mega resulted in a lot of driving, with a few select cache finds, due to the distance I had to travel. If only there was time to find them all! Once at “The Gong” as there are so many caches, yet again, sadly, only some could be attempted. Thanks for placing the cache The Rats. This one took a fair few websites to find the answers that the checker wanted, so it was good to find the cache today.
Caching day with Geofriends during Oz GeoMuster 2019, thank you The Rats so much for placing it for us to have fun.
We had a good look around but it was too well hidden for us. TFTH and the puzzle.
In the area again and with a solve for this puzzle headed over in a fitting location. We missed the hide on the first pass but found it on another. We discovered the trackable and then completed the signing duties. TFTC
Travelled up to photograph a new Waymarking category & checked GSAK before I left to discover I'd solved this one. Took your advice (hint) & found the cache. Took 2 travellers & left a piece of polished hematite & my path tag. Then wandered up to HARS & went on a tour which was very interesting. Some great stories attached to those planes. Saw the new Jetgo land. Thanks The Rats.
Found with nissan on a cool winters day. Bring on summer. Thankyou for the cache .
I'd spent the previous evening doing all my research into this one - it certainly did take a bit of hunting through a number of websites, and I was quite pleased with myself when I got the green light on the checker. I learned a lot about things way outside my normal sphere.
We arrived at IRA to collect the other nearby caches (1 smiley, 1 DNF) and look at the big plane before heading to the GZ for this one. Lots of spiderwebs around, and I didn't want to disturb, so I came around from another angle only to find a lid with no box and some freshly chopped down tree branches. I've contacted the CO about what we found to check. Regardless of the container situation, I did enjoy the research aspect. Thanks The Rats.

ziggiau did all the hard work on the research, but we did discuss the answers, especially in relation to the length of the runway and how the big jumbo was able to land. At GZ we found only a lid with no box, swag or logbook.
A puzzle which took a bit of research to finally get a good set of coordinates. We loved this area and took many photos of the area nearby.
A really good puzzle and GZ.

Plans were set in place with fitzy_1965 for a weekend caching mission around the Illawarra region We had a great time nabbing a whole bunch of caches with the only disappointment being the high number of DNF's due to missing containers

On our way to Carrington falls, we took the wrong turn at the roundabout so we ended up doing this one before the walk!
The first rock I looked under was occupied by a triangular face which looked like a snake. I didn't bother checking out if it was a real snake, a decoy, a figment of my imagination or a different animals, the rock went back before I realized what I saw.
The second rock showed a plastic container, I liked that more!

I found this cache as a joint part of “Team” *Throsbyonchurch* and in which name the log book was signed. I now have my own account as I’m old enough to cache myself, so I am claiming a fair share of my earlier finds. As I had no caching name at the time there's no log in the book for me but I’m claiming the find under team ToC. Thank you for the hide.
I found this cache jointly with TOC and now I have my own account I am claiming my finds. My caching name is not in the log book though as I didn't have one. I can cache on my own now. Thank you for the hide.

Off to the CITO event at Shellharbour I decided to tackle some of the puzzle caches I had previously solved.
This was the first of the day. I had solved it a few weeks ago after giving up previously. The first time I just couldn't find one bit of data needed. Somehow the second attempt was a lot easier and everything fell into place.
Once at GZ the coordinates were spot on and I soon had cache in hand. There weren't any flights taking off or landing while I was there, but the trip was worthwhile.
The cache was in good condition. We took nothing, left nothing, signed the log and replaced the container as found.
Thanks The Rats for the cache.

Thank you for the puzzle and cache.

Couldn't find cache after scurrying through bushes after fifteen minutes we finally gave up. Lots of muggles
open day with lots of muggles around.3 sets of eyes looked under where co-ords took us and no find.
Knowing I had an overnight trip to Nowra decided to solve a couple of the puzzles along the way. This one was looked at and as I have aircraft as a bit of a hobby I knew where to look for the answers - though the source I looked up for the date of construction differed by one year. But still I figured I was close enough and geochecker agreed.
Unluckily while at Roberston making my way back home grabbing a few a call came in for a service job at Parramatta so I stopped finding caches along the way, but did stop in for this one as I had solved it. A nice quick find, then back to Parra for a frustrating afternoon not solving the problem (need a spare from the office). Thanks Rats for a nice little educational puzzle.

TFTC The Rats,
I got a success from the checker and checked Google Earth to confirm it was the same position I visited and am now happy to log a find for this cache. I will visit the site again when nana nel does the cache.
It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be because different web sites give different information for the questions asked. I used 2 sites to get the correct answer and added 3 failures to the tally.
Note
Thanks yet again The Rats for a problem to solve. This time it isn't about retreving the container but solving a problem.
Passing by with a previous finder and took the chance to visit a group of trackables.
Now I have to work out the puzzle so I can convert this to a found and keep everything in order.

Did this cache the wrong way around, visited with another cacher who had already done this cache. Came home and did the research. Must confess had an incorrect answer first and went back to check what was wrong. Discovered should have used an imperial measurement instead. Oh well I have more knowledge of the I.R.A. than I had before. Thanks The Rats.
The WEEO helped me solve this one because he spent his whole life in aviation. He even drove me to the cache. Thanks WEEO and Rats!
