Great one!

Over here for Capital GeoBash Mega which has now concluded. One of many cache finds all over the city, particularly the oldest ones for my Jasmar grid. Retrieved TB Kitty after her 9 months rest near Mt Ainslie. For onwards travels up the coast and beyond. Timed myself - 1 min and 22 secs, not bad. Thanks CO fusilade for giving us a lovely puzzle.

A bit of a tough slog up to this one in the heat, I was glad of the log for a seat. A very elegant little puzzle that had me thinking till the end. Each step got me a little closer but not just there. Well worth the little stroll up the hill. Thanks for a very cute cache!

Wow!!! What a nice box!! Great puzzle too. A bit of pushing here and there, and some observation and thought, soon had the logbook in my hands. Thanks for a great puzzle. Have a favorite point.

Magic spot. Took a while to get my head around the puzzle. But success!

11-Feb-23
Took a bit of time to work out what the puzzle was, and then a little more time to actually solve it. Got there in the end!

Great cache, favourite point from me.

TFTC!

#3252 Knowing that DeadThief loves these types of puzzles, after retrieving the cache I handed the rest over to him. As expected he made short work of it and our names were soon in the log. Thanks Fusilade for a fun cache that has stood the test of time.

Up there with the fave objects to find. Arigato! Tftp

Out and about in Ainslie today, this cache was located quickly at GZ. Took me a couple of minutes to work out what to do, but eventually I accessed the log. Very cute!

Thanks, Fusilade!

Tftc, has a walk from top to bottom of My Ainslie today , picked up a few caches that were near my path .
Puzzle solved on site in under 2 minutes, glad to pick this one up.

All good here

Yay! Win win all round! Neither of us died of a heart attack getting here, it's a Regular and a mystery both of which contribute to two local challenges and it took himself one minute to work out how to open it. Good thing too as it's getting dark soon.

30-Jul-21
On the mount in search of a some recently solved puzzles. Made the quick ascent to GZ where the cache was found without issue. Have seen a number of similar puzzles so had a good idea of what was required. A minute later I was signing the log. Replaced as found it was onto the next cache just up the hill a bit not so far away. TNLNSL TFTC

Did after work, at night, without a torch, surprisingly took me less than 30seconds to work It out by feel alone. Awesome cache, took TB. TFTC

The sixth cache on our bike-caching trip.
This is my first mystery cache and puzzle cache. I think you have just ruined every other puzzle cache for me because this one is so fantabulistic. Beautiful clever box. Can't wait to do another puzzle cache.

Love this cache, great work! Easy find, and took a few minutes to get the box open (I used to have a smaller version of the same).

Thanks Fusilade

02-Jan-21
What a lovely fun puzzle! We were slightly confused at what sounded like a ball mechanism inside only to find that someone had left a coin there and the careful rolling was entirely unnecessary Razz a wonderful cache

21-Nov-20
I love puzzles like this! I had trouble concentrating on this one as there were some frisky kangaroos about. But I was able to sort it out in a minute or two.

Thank you for the cache!

After targeting a Wherigo cache nearby we decided to complete all the remaining Traditionals, and a few Mystery caches while we were here today. We walked around 8.5kms getting a good workout before it got a bit too hot. Sad to see the kangaroos thin and lethargic and barely moving as we walked by. It’s so dry in this bushland that it’s heartbreaking.

We had lots of enjoyment and a great discussion point trying to work this puzzle out. Such a beautiful puzzle and great workmanship. It provided some rivalry between us and in the end it was a group effort. TFTC Fusilade.

What an awesome puzzle
Found with Toyhunters Thanks for the cache

22-Dec-19
Found with sebass14 on our mission to grab the AHR plus some nearby caches, including this one. This find was a long time coming - Dad and I came up here years ago and sat at GZ for 15min without success. Today, I decided that while we were getting the nearby series, that we try again; especially since I have since had better experience with puzzle box caches around Australia! The scramble up to GZ was not as hard as I remember it being a few years ago, but it was still a bit of an effort to get up to GZ. Absolutely worth the effort though; as GZ was a beautiful bush spot to sit down, to have morning tea and to reattempt the puzzle box. Funnily enough, this time, I had the cache open within 1min! Was very surprised and excited with that result; it felt really good to finally tick this one off! A beautiful box; and a pleasure to solve. TFTC Fusilade!

16-Dec-19
Me and Coolducky headed out to get some remaining geocaches on Mount Ainslie. After a good mountain bike we traveled up the mountain to get this cache. I understand why this was a terrain 3.0! After looking in a few places we spotted some you know what. Removed it and found it. It was pretty big. Took out the puzzle box and Coolducky leaded the way! He got it open pretty easy. Signed and put back.
We spent more time finding the container than solving the puzzle!

It was my turn to take Pebbles and co to the city. I like to combine this with a walk on Mt Ainslie and now that there are so many new caches out here since last autumn it was a feast of nice bush walk with views and lots of caches.
Didn't quite get all I had planned but there will be plenty opportunity some other time to continue.
All caches were found quickly and were in good condition.

This was an Awesome spot for awesome puzzle. I know some of thesebut had never seen one like this. works still perfectly. Quite a zen sort of puzzle compared to others.
Shoot a nice sunset picture on the hike. Very much enjoyed this cache and the serenity at GZ worth a FAVpoint.

Thank you Fusilade for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

03-Nov-19
After we’d dropped the youngest geoson at a party we had an hour or so to fill in. I’d had my eye on this one for a while and was intrigued after doing a little research. My son managed to open it reasonably quickly. It actually took us probably a little longer to close it properly ! A very interesting container for sure. And placed in another beaut spot on Mt Ainslie. Tftc. A fave from me too.

19-Jul-19
Had a day off, the weather was beautiful and I wanted to go for a hike... what more could you ask for? Oh, and there is that Mystery at the Museum that I hadn't finished yet! Hadn't cleared Mount Ainslie yet so it was the target for today. Started at 11, finished at 4:30 with all finds! Thanks to all the cache owners for the amazing variety of hides and field puzzles!

Can't resist a good puzzle cache, and a lovely afternoon for a walk.
It was in the first place I looked, but I didn't look quite far enough, so searched for ages before going back to the obvious place and looking more thoroughly.

A great puzzle, I did NOT time myself, that might have been embarrassing. But thanks for a great cache.

TFTC from the Viking.
What a wonderful consolation prize ! Out looking for another GQ with the wrong co-ords and ended up standing atop this one ! All good and thanks for the nice surprise.
Cheers

01-May-19
Out caching with the viking when we stumbled across this one. Luckily he knew exactly what he needed to do to get it open in no time, while I just looked on. Would it have been that easy for me? Probably not! TFTC

26-Apr-19
Found on a perfect day for caching with Widge76. It's my last day in Canberra, so is my last chance to tick Ausmer boxes & pick up interesting caches before I head for New England, where caches aren't so plentiful.

This was a fun field puzzle that didn't give its secrets away too easily. TFTC!

Nicely done! Found with Roarts in a caching day in Canberra TFTC

18-Apr-19
Dez (JezNDez), Lennondayz29 and I left Brisbane last Friday and made our way south to Canberra with the aim of visiting this Mega event in Queanbeyan, and hunting down plenty of caches in the meantime. Sadly today was the last day for Dez and Lennondayz29 who were due to fly home this afternoon. After dropping them off at the airport, I headed up to Mt Ainslie to finish off a few caches we had run out of time for during our visit earlier in the week.

Retracing ground I had covered previously, I took a direct route from a nearby cache and soon discovered the cache location. Surprisingly, accessing the logbook did not take as long as expected (I have wasted quite an amount of time of some versions of these puzzle boxes) and my name was stamped into the log book for posterity. TFTC

#4926 5th for today

Decided to go out and grab a few caches with high FP as part of the Caching Carnival. I selected 5 interesting caches that I could grab in the available time, not wanting to be too greedy. Most of them involved quiet a bit of walking with some hill climbs thrown in. But quality comes at a price as they say. Conditions were a bit 'iffy' today. Passing showers and quite windy.

I done a few puzzle boxes now, but I think this is the best example I've seen. I was very gentle with it and managed to get it to reveal its secrets in time. A lovely item deserving of fp's. Have another.

Thanks fusilade

Took a few minutes of fiddling to sign the log, but lots of fun in doing so. TFTC.

23-Dec-18
Went for a walk around the base of Mount Ainslie to get some mystery caches, including this one. When I saw the picture I knew I had to try this one, since I have the same brand of puzzle box myself! This puzzle took a few less moves than the one I know so it was an easy open. TFTC

11-Jun-18
I had been eyeing off this cache for a long time, ever since I started geocaching in fact! But just haven't had a chance to come and grab it! I was looking for something to come grab on this Public Holiday and decided a puzzle would be a good fit, as I am slowly closing in on ZQX's 5000 star challenge. This one fit the bill nicely and also has a high number of favourite points so came out for the drive!

After parking at the end of the nearest dead end street I made the walk through the bush and up the short incline to quickly find the outer container and started working on the puzzle itself.

It took a while to click, but once it did I saw how easy it actually was! One sneaky little part of the puzzle just evaded me!

Thanks fusilade, good to see this one lasting so long out here!

With ALL7 on hot day yesterday. Very difficult terrain up and down so very inclined/steep. Please bear in mind with your balance and strong footwear and mountaineering or hiking canes.

WOW COOL CACHE!!!!! and I trying get open box few mins then give to MW9910B got open box...YAY!!! I like it... Thanks

Had trouble finding GZ, GPS wasn't working for me. But found it eventually, and solved the puzzle box without resorting to violence.

30-Sep-17
After finding another cache at about the same altitude, rather than waste the climb I headed over to this one. I am not great at puzzles, although I have had better luck with physical caches, so I wasn't sure how I would go with this. The cache was spotted as I walked up, so pretty patterned box in hand I sat down to make myself comfortable, not knowing how long this would take. I was surprised when I opened it in less than a minute. A pretty box, a fun cache, a favourite point. TFTC fusilade.

With Aquilus1 and Addictedgamer to pick up some more smilies in the area. This is a great puzzle! We had fun with this one and all had a go. Tftc!!!

17-Sep-17
What a great field puzzle! Nice spot to sit and work this out on a sunny day. Once the log was signed, we then all had a turn and worked out how to open. Really enjoyed this so a FP. Thanks for the cache Fusilade.

06-Sep-17
I love these little puzzle boxes, it amazing the craft and precision that goes into making them. It didn't present me any real problems, I had it open and the log in hand in under a minute... I think I have now cleared out Mt Ainslie except for the 2 at the very top

02-Jun-17
I spent 9 hours hiking around Mount Ainslie today with the goal of picking up solved puzzles. I may as well call this Pacmania day since most of the caches belonged to one CO. I did pretty well with only 2 DNFs. This was number 21 of 28 for the day. Difficult up and down hikes are a feature of the rest of the puzzles I went after today.

01-Apr-17
Thanks for the hide ! Smile

28-Feb-17
Do yourself a favor and access this cache via the main path, not by going straight down the mountain side like we did haha. Great trek. Great cache!

28-Feb-17
Found with sami_180 after a killer trek down the mountainside! Thanks for the puzzle!!

27-Jun-16
Was visiting friends in Ainslie and thought we would pop up for a quick cache or two and get ourselves a ACT souvenir as we had never found one in ACT before. We had just helped the friends move a 50kg garden ornament so needed a break. Half of team Lillieb05 headed out and we found our first cache just down the path from this. The next cache was too much of a walk with a couple of hesitant girls with me so we sat down to see what was closer. Wasn't expecting a field puzzle as had never found anything like this before so change of plan and headed past a mob of roos and found the location nice and easy.
The puzzle box took a bit more time and whoever put the noise making tradeable in the cache, you really didn't help the situation Wink. The girls loved seeing it open up and enjoyed the cache, I think I have a new convert and if Ida ever sees this log, well done on the Ainsliesaurus.

09-Jun-16
Looking for daily caches to collect, when I spied this one. After collecting "In the Tree" the night before, came back to this before heading to Sydney for the day. Having a 21-move Japanese Puzzle Box at home, which I bought when in Hakone Japan, I had a fair idea how to solve. Arrived at GZ, found container and solved the puzzle. Logged my entry and replaced.

One of my favourite terms is 'elegant simplicity'. The Japanese Puzzle Box exemplifies this. The woodwork design is unbelievable and takes a Japanese craftsman many years to perfect - it is worth looking up how this pattern is actually made, as it is not a print, but actual wood, glued together and thinly sliced like wallpaper. The end result is beautiful, yet the whole construct of the box and the design has a wonderful simplicity to it. TFTC fusilade. Brings back great memories of a Christmas in Japan. A favourite.

27-Mar-16
I've been wanting to check this one out for a while, and finally made it today. The box is indeed finely made and in good condition, and there's very little to give away the secret. I have a puzzle box from Budapest of all places, but the principles are close enough that after a bit of fiddling I soon had this one open. Awesome fun and a great spot to sit and work the puzzle.

TNLN - Thanks fusilade!

#1005. 64 days in a row.

Another find while I was on my way back into the city after finding the Wooden Bus Shelters. A quick walk from my parking area had the cache in hand, then I spent a couple of minutes fiddling with it to figure out how to open it. Not particularly difficult for me, but I can totally understand others being frustrated by it.

21-Nov-15
I always get a bit apprehensive approaching these caches as I never know quite what to expect. I haven't seen this style before and was very impressed with the woodwork on the box - beautiful. I must have learned something after all those frustrating previous attempts though since in very short order I had done this and that and managed to open the box. Felt very pleased with myself after that. Thanks fusilade Big Grin

31-Aug-15
Nothing like a good field puzzle in a beautiful location (along with a nice log to sit on) . Miss Stormcatcher made very short work of it and we had our names on the log much quicker than we expected. Was nice to finally come past and do this one, some great views and was nice heading up here in the late afternoon sun. Last day of winter, yay! Thanks for a fun cache fusilade Smile

18-Aug-15
This was close enough to the car for a gander before heading back so I took a diversion to see if I could find my way into the logbook - after all, I could always use the 'Penny method' from The Big Bang Theory. Once at GZ, a quick find had me at the puzzle solving stage. Thankfully though, the 'Penny method' wasn't required Wink and I soon had the logbook in hand and signed at 16:50 despite never having done one of these before. Big Grin How cool is that? Cool Cool enough for a fave point I reckon. Big Grin

TNLNSL, although our Land of the Rising Sun geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks Fusilade.

07-Aug-15
Easily found the cache and quickly had the box open - I've seen one of these before. Inside said box, not only did I find the log, but also the note saying that you haven't found the cache until you've opened the box, as well as the official note alerting muggles that this is a geocache, etc., etc., etc. On putting it back together I decided these last two ought to stay outside the box, and as there was a spare plastic bag I used it for this purpose. TFTC.

Solved a while ago but onto the mountain today for a quick find. I came from above and cool today. What an awesome puzzle. Thanks fusilade

22-Jul-15
Out for some caching today while the brother in law was at work, even though it was raining it was still better then sitting at home doing nothing. so many wet and steep banks and 7 caches around Mt Ainslie ended up wet, dirty and exhausted. Thanks for the cache.

What an awesome puzzle. FP added

The Nighthawk had a go at opening this one and had it opened fairly quickly. Out of all the caches we did today newbie Nighthawk wanted this one...and he was impressed☺ cheers Tftc.

Went on a mini caching collection with TikvaNZ this afternoon around Mount Ainslie - literally! I collected three puzzle caches and one traditional (TikvaNZ had already collected one of the puzzles).

This was the first cache we collected. Actually, I had been looking for another puzzle cache, but must have inadvertently put the coordinates into my phone GPS incorrectly. So we ended up very close to this one, and TkivaNZ made the find while I was still wandering around confused by my coordinates. It was a lovely box, and a few gentle pushes and eases, and it was open and the log revealed! It was also tricky to close it, but we did that gently too Smile

Thanks Fusilade for this interesting puzzle!

Out for an evenings caching with AngelG27. This was our first stop. Cache easily found. Then it took us a few minutes to get to the log. And another couple to close it up again. TFTPC.

Went back to properly sign the log and also to see if I could find part of the eye-piece of my binoculars.

Couldn't find it Sad but left a pencil with the cache. Did bring a biro as well, but it wouldn't write. It worked perfectly when I got back home. Maybe it was affected by the heat…

If someone finds a funny black rubber stopper with a hole that could be part of binoculars, please let me know.

Was nearby today, and thought I'd have another go at it - 20 months after the last visit.

This time it opened without problems. I reckon the last time I was here the lid was in the wrong way round and that was why it was stuck.

Took the two TBs considering they had been in there since last October.

Didn't have a pen on me and the pen in the cache didn't work. Indented the paper and have a photo on my phone, just not downloaded yet.

Might be close soon again and put another pen in the cache.

Love the box.

Fun cache. #1 hunter found it quite easily and figured out how to open the box while I'd already given up and was looking on YouTube. Bit sad when you're 10yr old has more tenacity than you do but my excuse was the impending storm.

Lovely box. Beautiful workmanship.

We have been looking at this one for awhile and decided to do it today after work.
It was nice to get out in the fresh air and go for a walk in the great outdoors.
Found easy enough and then also managed to crack the cache easy too.
Great idea.

Yay!! My first puzzle cache.. Of sorts. Wish I thought to do this one back in August.. Sad cool box! Tftc Very Happy

14-Aug-14
After finding the trackable that was to end up in this cache we decided to take on the task. It was straight up the hill past a mob of roos snoozing in the middle of the day and we were there. A couple of firsts eventuated, the first time we have dropped a trackable at its desination and the first of this type of puzzle cache for us. Somehow the correct pieces were moved in a few minutes and the job was done. . TFTC Smile

3202. This was the next on my list while in the area and soon I was sitting on the near by log scratching my head. As this was my first encounter with one of these, I had absolutely no idea and soon put the iPhone into action. After that it was plain sailing and the log was signed. I was extremely impressed with the craftmanship of this one, so it definitely deserves a favourite.
Many thanks to fusilade for a great cache and the great walk with nature.

29-Mar-14
A wonderful walk up the hill. Heaps of currawongs, some even having a bath in a puddle. Saw some old rusted metal along the way, and even kangaroos having a nap.
When I got to GZ, I opened the container, and tried fiddling with the puzzle box. My friend was searching on the phone how to open one. After about 20mins, I cracked it open! (Not literally) I dropped Happy Whistler TB into the puzzle box as well. Thanks for a great time, fusilade!

Beautifully crafted box. Took a while to open it. Patience required, but very happy we finally worked it out! Smile tFTC.

2013: 345 Days In A Row - It's a bit of fun having puzzles to complete in the field - to date I have only came across half a dozen of them. This was an interesting puzzle, and the puzzle was passed around a bit with some shared progress. Eventually the top opened up and the log book was retrieved! Smile A fun little cache! Thanks! Smile

Yay, yay, yay!

With a pull and a tug (and a little bit of u-tube) we had the little box open in no time at all. We were so worried that we would break it but it didn't and not much force needed to be applied to get it to magically revile the log.

This is number 4 for today with a party of 8 (Dmuggle, T-Rex05, Fraggle_Rock (and bubs), Wasptor, Gumbymaca, Binni_Star and myself) starting by attend the 9:10 11/12/13 event cache followed by a day of caching to find 14 in total!

This was a little frustrating but eventually we broke through, without actually breaking it. Thankfully geojunkies had a iPad for a little assistance. TFTC!

We were looking for something special, as this was to be our 50th find, and our 1st mystery cache! We liked the puzzle - all 4 of us were needed to figure it out. Thanks for the special find!!
