Making our way towards home over the next few weeks travelling with 2 dogs and a cat we have found caching a great way to give the fur babies a break. Stopped in Broken Hill for a few days and toured around with the help of local geocachers taking us to spots that locals know about. Thanks to the COs for placing and maintaining
After watching the sunset we made a quick dash to this one in the fading light. Thankfully all ankles intact. Tftc
Out caching with my caching buddy, MrsShep77, and our faithful drivers. Thanks for the great hides.
Celebrating Australia Day exploring our gorgeous land and spectacular scenery. Thanks for bringing us here!
Wow it's cold!
Nice walk in late afternoon and easy find.

Freddo and Team Waldron headed to warmer climes around Broken Hill, Cobar, Bourke, Cunnamulla
and Charleville.
After a cold start in Broken Hill the weather improved once we got further north. Sadly our last night in Broken was wet which, pardon the pun, put a dampener on things.
All up it was a great week away and lots of caches were found with only 3 dnfs.
Thanks to all who placed and maintained their caches. The occasional cache was damaged and we refurbished it and we also left new logbooks as required.

Lovely cool breeze and view of surrounds. Love the country . Cache looks like it has been maintained by Mad Max but still good
Found it on the way to visit the Living Desert. Nice little walk to stretch the legs after driving from Adelaide.

Together with my son, I am on a camping trip from Sydney to Broken Hill and back. On our 3000 km journey over 11 days we have seen some wonderful little towns, beautiful landscapes and many interesting geocaches.
A nice off road track led us to 150 meters of the cache. A short walk to the rocks where the cache was found in good condition. Some great views here!

Found with JelenaGreenleaf. Nice enough view. No snakes. Easy walk. Possibly may be easier to park to the north of here, rather than the supplied coords. TFTC
Night time caching again....thank goodness the torch light showed the cactus to avoid!
Visiting Broken Hill and surrounds with Purrfect Di.
Seeing some sights, taking some pictures, looking for your caches!
Got fairly close, then hiked the rest of the way to be on the safe side. Nice views from the rocky outcrop! The locals seem to like riding their dirt bikes below.
Thank you opted-out user for placing and maintaining this cache on our ever growing Aussie geo-map

Driving and hiking around wherever we can - searching, spotting hidden items and signing cache logs using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S21u, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just a guess or plain old dumb luck
Plenty of the luck stuff actually !!!
*All the online logs are composed and published with GSAK of course.*
---
Warning ! Caching is a very hazardous activity!
Look out for sand, mud, floodwaters, snakes, surprise cliffs, roos, wombats, things falling from trees, bulldust, and floods, and try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall off your ladder...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- and do watch out for bugs !!! . [xx(]
Ensure Travel Bugs are the Only bugs you share and pass on (Covid cancels caching!)
Keep a safe distance - cache the countryside
Great of all those placing quality caches out and about around the country areas,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game fun, and interesting
Really appreciate you reading all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, apparently! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Maybe if I worked out where I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and we can put an end to these long logs !!!
C'est Fini.

On our way back from the sculpture park we took the opportunity to grab this cache at this time of the year the wild flowers were if full bloom so it was almost beautiful walk, thanks for placing this cache
A bit of a hike to this one but we’ll worth the effort. There was a bunch of emu wandering through here as we hunted. TFTC.
Headed out to the mines and what's a holiday if you don't grab some out of the way caches! Thanks for the hide!

We’re had planned a caching trip with Wilbert67 to SA and had to cut it short due to COVID lock down, so we came to Broken Hill, it has been so hot today but managed to bag a few caches including this one.
We drove the car in and it just sank in and we got bogged.
Luck two young lads came over and pulled us out.
We then decided to walk and got there in time before dark.

After a very hectic day we managed to escape SA, Ending up in Wentworth way after midnight. This morning on day 6 of our road trip it was re planning time, no caches for hundreds of kilometers either way. So we ended up heading to Broken Hill and Silverton. Great caching day, but again very hot!

We only had the 2wd today, so we drove as far in as we could and then walked across the soft sandy river bed and up to the ridge. Not at all what I was expecting but another beautiful area of the countryside. Thanks for the cache.
Stopped in here as part of our Great Western County Hunt. It has been a truly incredible trip, as I managed to pick up the last four counties I needed to fill in my NSW county map. A super exciting thing to complete. Thanks for enabling our crazy adventures. Thanks for the cache.

We drove as far as the point where the path meets the riverbed. The sand was too soft there for the 2wd so we walked thd final 200m. Absolutely stunning countryside on sunset. TFTC
Cool, windy day, perfect for bike ride and walk after rainy few days. Old log needs to be removed. Thanks for bringing us for a stroll in this desert area.
Found under the threat of the impending thunderstorms that were forecast for the afternoon. Thanks for the cache lilmax!
I was a bit concerned the guardian was the container - but not to fear
All is good with this cache - happily sunbathing on the rocks found during a family trip from Canberra to Broken Hill to Lightning Ridge to Canberra. A fav point for the lication and views. TFTC.

Day 4 - A full day spent caching and touring around Broken Hill, finding many interesting caches along the way. This was the next find of the day, and it was a quick find once at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, then it was off to the next one. When I was replacing the cache I realised I had a 'friend' watching me ! Phew - my 'friend' had legs so I relaxed...

TFTC lilmax,
Here is a blurb about us
We are trying to get a badge ,the author ,from project GC for writing found log files of 100 words or more. Once we get this badge we will stop writing this. We are also trying to get badges for adding photos to our found logs .
We started caching in December 2019 and by January 2020 we were hooked. As we are on the road full-time, living in a caravan for almost 2 years now, caching fits in well with this lifestyle. It is taking us to places that we would normally not have gone. When we move to a new place we also look at what caches are in the area and how many days we will need to be there in order to get the caches we want.
We are in Broken Hill for a few days and will try to get some caches in town and surrounding areas. We hope we can make a few smilies here to add to our find tally. We are looking forward to the variety of hides we will encounter. Thank you for your work in placement and ongoing effort for maintenance of caches.

While staying in Broken Hill for a few days we tried to find some of the nearby caches.
We stopped by to grab this one on our visit to the Living Desert Sculptures. We have thoroughly enjoyed caches that require a little walk around Broken Hill because although unfortunately the area is trying to survive a terrible drought we have been lucky in that it makes for very easy walking in the scrub....no long grass
Many thanks for showing us this area lilmax

Hmmm, random spot. Adding to my exercise for the day. A number of trail bike riders around.
I found this one quickly and easily, while caching in Broken Hill and the surrounding area.
We spent the day in and around Broken Hill and Silverton caching. Today was all about quality over quantity. We were blessed with fantastic weather and almost all caches were found, we only had one dnf which was in accessible and a few more we decided not to attempt given our KIA doesn't really have 4WD clearance although it claims to be a 4WD.
It was a brilliant day of caching, we really enjoyed the history, the scenery and the variety of caches that we found. All up 19 finds which took our tally at the end of the day to 8200.
It was then to the Palace Hotel to have a shnitty and a Pricilla experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Broken Hill and that geocaching helped to guide us on the journey there and back home again.
Deposited the geohusband and hound back at the campsite and then headed out for 2 solo caches (the no dogs allowed at the sculptures meant one of us had to stay 'home'). This one was so much fun, enjoyed the mini hike up to retrieve the cache, then made a right meal of the search but found the cache once I changed my elevation. TFTC and for bringing me here, this is why I love caching I would never in a million years headed up here if it were not for caching., The views were speccy!!!

Day 5 of our road trip to Broken Hill. Came out this morning to see the living sculptures and with our watches still on Sydney time, we were here half an hour too early. Of course just the excuse we needed to grab a nearby cache. Enjoyed the short walk through the red sand to GZ and made a quick find.

Challenge accepted! After a trip to the sculptures I with a hefty breeze blowing, we called into this one on the way out. I have really enjoyed the caching in Broken Hill, as the quality has been excellent. Good coords and hint make this an easy find and a nice little walk, even in the 43 degree heat! Thanks for placing the cache.
From Mildura, I headed to Broken Hill. It was slim pickings from Wentworth to Broken Hill, with only one cache in 260 km. and it was a DNF. Once in Broken Hill, I headed out to do some caches, this being the first. Quick find. Great location.
My thanks to lilmax for the cache.

TFTC,
Our second last cache in the area of those available. Should get the last one tomorrow.
Found this cache after a reasonable walk from the car. If someone can bring a large Peanut Butter container to replace this it will help, the lid has cracked.
A great location to be at this time of day.
Visited trackables and added a favourite.

Well after the last 24months in Queensland or Northern Territory it has been a real temperature shock to the system today! [B)] 15degrees max but it feels like 10degrees with the windchill factor.
But back in the land of the cache so off we went exploring using Geocaches as a guide. We should have had warmer clothes on though.

Found today with Stan_d_man whom I picked up from the station, while I drove to Broken Hill via Mandooran, Narromine, Cobar and Wilcania. Doing caches for the Outback challenge. We concentrated on caches around the Broken Hill area. Winding up some of the last caches north and east of Broken Hill. Having come here a couple of days ago, we decided to improve on the parking to make a better approach and made the find of a good hide. TFTC lil team of hunters
