Out and about with MummaBear & the cubs exploring the wonders of the Sunny Coast and surrounding areas.

The goal for the day was to work towards this months challenge, so the main focus was to find caches with high favourite points and any others we’d come across.

We had a great day out and I’m sure we’ll be back again soon as we’re not even close to completing this months challenge.

Thanks for bringing us here.

Today we visited the Sunny Coast to clean up some more caches.

This cache was in good condition.

The more trees are chopped, the more animal protection fences are built. We found the open gap to enter the forest and found the cache.

holster I found your cache The Old Portal Place on 18/4/2022, 1:35 pm. This is my find 3368 and find # 7 today. Found a way in and followed some sort of track to about 50 meters from GZ. Then it was basically a bush bash in. GZ has overgrown with ferns. Found a likely place for a cache but dismissed it after a brief search. Checked other places but returned to the original spot for a more thorough search. Found it, should of searched more thoroughly the first time. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN

This one appears to be completely and permanently fenced off.

31-Jul-21
While the edge of the road has been fenced the area is still accessible. You just need to approach from a different direction.

13-Sep-20
This cache was the second find for today, I had hoped that I could get over the other side of the highway, but unfortunately construction had blocked the underpass near Aussie World, so this was my only cache for Palmview today. I had approached GZ along a well-used trail, but my shoes unfortunately got muddy and wet by 2 large puddles on the way there. Then it took a long bush bash to GZ, with fingers crossed I didn't run into a slithery friend. Once at GZ, the cache was located quickly and log signed. The ziplock baggie for the logbook is partially broken now, but with a sturdy lid like that, I don't think water will be getting in anytime soon. Thanks for bringing me out here holster.

18-Jul-20
We parked in a safe place and took the walk option. Overcame a few obstacles before arriving at GZ. Log signed and replaced as found. Came back out to the car a different way. A fun adventure this morning! TFTC

Long have i looked at the palmview caches amd wondered how to get there on a tredley..
Well today i was out exploring, and came across an old road that led me to within cooee of the cache. Bit of a zig zag bush bash and i was soon signing a logbook, that i'm sure will be here many years to come.
Thanks holster for the cache, my first find in palmview!

14-Apr-18
Heading home after a day caching on the Sunshine Coast, we realised that we might have enough light to find this one. I parked the geomobile and stortigirls and I made our way across the earthworks and into the bush. Typically, we went the harder way in. Surprised The cache was quickly located at GZ and the log signed. We then found an easier way back to the geomobile. Typical!! TFTC

14-Apr-18
I was on the way home from a caching day on the Sunshine Coast with Selva Girls and we had just enough light to stop and find our way in here for a smilie. We took the harder way in and the easier way out (of course), dodging the earthworks and clearing going on to widen the road. Tftc holster, I am glad to have this green circle now turn yellow!

Drove up from Canberra, for a much needed holiday staying with my parents in Caloundra ... Up here for a few weeks (Christmas, and most of January Smile
Been finding at least one cache a day since I left home, went to Widgee for the NYE Geocaching weekend, and had heaps of fun up there finding lots of caches with a bunch of great people, now back to caching on my own (or sometimes with my muggle parents if we are out and about together)
Heading back "home" to Mum and Dad's place after we spent a few days camping at their friends cane farm on the banks of the Maroochy river. Mum came back in my car, and was going to come in for the walk and find this with me, until she realised we would be jungle bashing in our sandals... (for a couple of minutes I wished I had put my shoes on, when an ant or something bit my ankle, but it stopped stinging after a minute or so ... although it was swollen and itchy for quite a few days ...)
TFTC - quite a pretty little spot hiding among all the mess of roadworks and whatever.

Alarmon

A computerised fire and crash control system for airports.
Alarmon is a touch-screen computerised fire and crash control system for airports. In an emergency situation a single operator can monitor up to 10,000 alarms, can issue instructions, and can allocate people and machinery. The system features Australian breakthroughs in computer hardware and software. It taps into existing electrical and communication systems and logs on a printer all events as they occur. It presents the operator with a logical sequence of options to deal with the situation.
The Alarmon system was developed by Melbourne-based Intellitouch, a joint partnership between Redflex Systems and the Civil Aviation Authority. The first installation of the system was at Brisbane airport, and all major airports in Australia will eventually be using it. The system has been exported to Singapore and to the
United Kingdom.

Catching up on missing cache notes.

Kerry from Slow Puncture has been up the Sunshine Coast way for work, has set a goal of trying to get at least one cache every day, depending on where work takes her. Maybe more than one a day if time permits!

I think I spent more time taking photos of the lovely fungus and moss than looking for the cache with this one. I’ve never seen scarlet fungus before, so I took several photos of the two that we saw growing out of the tree, along with the lovely moss. The thought of putting my hand inside a large log in such warm humid weather, but luckily I didn’t have to delve too far. Log was in dry and in good order. Signed and replaced.

Thanks ***holster***, for showing us this place. Smile

Walking through the bush... close the GZ I headed to a specific spot but RoddyC said it should be over where. In the end my first thought were right and wee could sign the logbook.

06-Feb-16
Cachers always go in the hard way and come out easy way. With Nadine1989, the three of us were wandering around the bush for quite a while with just our phone lights before I spotted this one.

Found at 6.35pm 6th February 2016. TFTC.

What an awesome place for a cache! Loved GZ. Bush bashed in the hard way through the wet ferns; nearly kissed a big Golden Orb spider on the way out. AND LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT!! Logging this on the app, but when I edit this log later this is SO getting a Fave point.

Smilie #1846

Parked roadside & headed bush.
A short stroll through a bit of 'snake country' style long grass, multiple inhabited spiderwebs & a nice thick ferny grove brought me to GZ.
After a few second's hesitation I reached in & came up with the cache.
TNLNSL & replaced as found.
Began the return journey, to the Geo-beast, & found the much easier 'track' to follow out.
It always seems to be the way!
Easier out than in! LOL ...

Picked up a trail towards GZ and had a bit of a bush bash for the last 50 meters. Hint was a great help and I soon had the cache in hand - I don't think this one would ever get muggled!! TFTC holster Smile

11-Feb-15
Absolutely beautiful pocket of forest here. The ferns make it look like something out of Jurassic park.

11-Feb-15
I found this last night, probably not the best pick for a solo, dark, wet, night cache, but it was an adventure, I lost the track pretty quickly and waded through the fern in the dark on uneven ground, eventually got to the cache, some massive amazing stumps around here, thanks!

08-Feb-15
Quick easy find taken the trackable drop it off at noosa

21-Jan-15
Returning from the Sunny coast, this one was a quick detour. Parked where the Brissy workers who catch a lift always seem to always Park, and made my way through the carpet if ferns. Found the big old girl having a rest, and made the quick grab. Nice container, like these ones as long as the o-ring stays put. Dropped off TB. Thanks for the cache

13-Jan-15
Nice walk in along the path. Left a pen for others to log Smile

Only one of us had shoes on so despite being early on a Sunday morning before all the animals were off to church, just one of us went. Very little bush bashing as tracks are pretty clear. At GZ I found the most amazing log. Would love to have seen it standing tall in the forest. Now, where are you Mr Cache? Quickly in hand, logged off and back to sisso2.

Found at 1500.

After bush bashing for a few minutes, I realized wearing thongs wasn't such a good idea.
I forged ahead and soon spotted the cache, even after dealing with some GPS bounce.
Great cache and hiding spot.
I left a whoopie cushion for the next big kid and took a green alien.

TFTC!

Found this cache without to much trouble.. Beautiful spot so close to busy roads...

I did incur a bit of a self-inflicted injury finding gz.. i MAY have slapped myself in the face while walking to the location due to walking into the biggest spider residents that you'll ever see!!!

I took TB AH4339.

Thanks Holster for the cache.

I had pulled up across the road and found it all a little bit busy going on there, so decided a little look on the other side of the highway may be good. A lot less people so I parked the car and wandered in a little towards the cache.

As I approached GZ there were a couple of options to take a look at and I was soon holding the cache in hand, the signal for me in here today was pretty good. I soon had my name added to the log book and heading back towards the car.

Had planned a few caches around Ettamogah on my way into the area a few days ago to visit friends but car gps was playing up with the heat and nightfall had descended by the time I got here. Probably just as well I waited till daytime as, while an easy find, wouldn’t like to be out here on my own in the dark tripping over the uneven undergrowth which was still an issue when I could see it.

Captain Terror and I were up at Caloundra for the night and this morning after grabbing a surprise first cache we were soon on our way towards this one. The Captain had already found it, and been back with a few other cachers, but he was nice enough to agree to come for the short walk with me to keep me safe from spider webs and getting dirty Razz

We followed the track up until we had to turn right and head in through the bush. There was quite an obvious geo trail that we were able to follow practically right to the cache. It took a moment or two but wasn't long before I had the container in my hands. I signed the logbook and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache holster.
