Day three of my trip away with tmann421.Heading to Akaroa and surrounding areas of the Banks Penninsula. Loved the drive around and all the caches we foundSigned all logs tm/ww NZThanks to all the cache owners for the efforts in placing and maintaining all caches.
I had an explore of the cemetery before quickly finding this cache. Looks like the cemetery is still being used as there was a fairly fresh grave.
A bit of a low scramble to get the goods but cache found in good condition. Kind of amazing a church is here. These days I wonder how many attend its monthly service. Thanks for the history and cache, La Vista.

Thought to myself what a cute church, must stop for a picture, then checked cgeo and spotted there was a cache too
Thanks for the hide, on way to the start of the walk to the Packhorse track, much later than I intended, but weather is good and the sun does not set until after 9.30pm, so have plenty of time to explore

Mrs C was out today with Nosynel as we both wanted to do the Multi at the end of this road. Stopped here to have a nosey at the lovely church and so I could sign the log for this cache. Thanks for bringing us here and the cache La Vista.
TFTC. I've visited this church a few times, really interested to have a look inside. The Peninsula has some very well crafted churches.

In the area for work. When we were here before, we thought there is no cache here, don't know how we missed it. It's a beautiful church I must say. Anyways, cache was easily found. TFTC.

Had to google Saint Kentigern. His pet name is Mungo and he is the patron saint of Glasgow. Longer arms would have helped but an easy find after a walk up the valley! Now it's lunchtime. Thanks La Vista.
A quick find on our way to the start of the Packhorse track. Thanks La Vista

The growth of the tree branches no doubt makes this more difficult than it was when it was placed. We spotted a white plastic bag on the ground, but did not touch it, given the comments of the last visitor. The cache was within 50 cm of the bag, at GL at the base of an obvious object, obscured by a tree branch. However, all was in order. A delightful little church. TFTC!
Stumbled upon so much whilst I was here. A beautiful spot which I am grateful to have come to for the second time in my life... the first being some 20 years ago!! TFTC no cab165 today unfortunately
Found on our way up to the Kaituna Valley Reserve for a walk and picnic. I tipped out some water from the container and dried out the log book in the sun while we had a look around. The cemetery was interesting and then we discovered that we were welcome to enter the beautiful church as well. What a treasure! Thanks for placing a cache at this lovely historic site!
First find of the day - third cache attempted! This was nice and easy, with accurate coords and a cache large enough to get my hand in with a towel to dry it out. The log is damp but still able to be written on. I dried the bag as best I could. Unfortunately the toys were the worse for wear - lots of black mould. The silica sachets were both drenched and mouldy, as was what was left of the pencil. The cache now only contains the log in its bag. [|)]

We had been for a walk along the track to the Packhorse Hut and collected this cache on our way home. What a pretty wee church. The cache was a quick find. TFTC.
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)… Our journey to the bottom of the South Island has been almost two years in the planning. We were determined to make it to Oamaru Geofest. We decided to also factor in completing a couple of missions (JASMER and Virtual challenges), and the wheels started turning...
Day Six: Oamaru Geofest-Christchurch
Heading to our next target cache... We were looking for a shortcut through to the Port Hills. This road wasn't helpful, but we made it so. TFTC.

DAY 5
Today was going to be a fairly easy driving to Christchurch. Collected a few puzzles that we had solved, a virtual and perhaps a couple of older caches. SLTFTC
Just by chance we got this one. Drove up wrong road.

Mum and me had a day to go caching - baby was with hubby, so no hold ups - just lots of caches was the plan for the day!!! And luckily we mainly succeeded in getting quite a few off the map! I think the final count was about 40, which is decent given that big days are getting tougher & tougher with the ones near home being pretty spaced out!
Mum found this one as we swapped who was jumping out of the car for this cache!
TFTC!!

Out for a day's caching with daughter, never mind the freezing temperatures at the early start, icy roads, and a bit of precipitation that did not promise a very nice day! It even got sunny at certain points during the day [^] We had great fun and visited some amazing spots in the process!!! Thanks to all CO's for placing great caches for us to find!!! Beautiful spot!!
JSando and I were lucky enough to find super cheap tickets to Christchurch in the boxing day sale, so here we are for a long weekend of sightseeing, eating, drinking and or course caching. After leaving the CBD area we headed south, staying at Governors Bay, but having many hours between landing and being able to check in, we headed further south for a small loop of caches before checking in for a rest.
A quick find. TFTC

A quick grab today on the way past. Nice church. Thanks. Ps cache was wet inside log still dry just.
What a cute little church in an interesting valley. Cheers, emptied a bit of water out but the log is dry.
As the interim Priest in Charge of the Parish of Mount Herbert, I was here for a wedding rehearsal on Friday. It became a lovely day and the rehearsal went on without a hitch. The church is beautiful and even the rain today didn't dim the beauty of the church or the happiness of the wedding party and family. I was really, really glad to have been able to grab this little cache on the sunny day though. Thanks for the hide and the info on this little gem of a church.
BaldEd and I teamed up to do a few on the way towards Little River today. This was a new one only for me.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Day trip to Akaro with tikitour, minimaxy and riser5, plus two, we took the detour off the main road to be shown the neat little church, nice to notice a cache here too. TFTC
On our way out to Akaroa for the day and stopped by to see the church....very nice and it was a nice surprise to see it open for visitors and of course while we were there picked up the cache. TFTC
Just love this picturesque church. Found with the young ones from Oamaru for the hols. TFTC
TFTC. Really nice place and church. We went into the church and signed the visitors logbook. Then we went out and signed the cache logbook.
After a successful venture on the Rail Trail on a glorious spring day, we drove up to this picturesque wee church. An easy find. Grabbed the tshirt travel bug
The eleventh cache on a mini road trip on the peninsula. I teamed up with BBear44. What a gorgeous church a real hidden treasure. I can't believe nobody's come out this way in such a long time.
Lovely wee church, very quiet out here today. Quickly found and all nice and dry. Cheers La Vista.
Nice easy find on my way to valley. Container was full of water and logbook been soaked a bit, but still signable. Tftc.
9th find for the day. Easy find. I used to do bike races up this road about once a month for about two years and never saw the church. Nice to take in the surroundings when I weren't dragging myself up the grind on a bike. TFTC.
Lovely stone church. Cache all good even with a little water in it. Drained excess out but log dry. Tftc. SL.
lovely spot, seems that this church has survived the shakes better than some.cheers
A quick find at a very nice old church. I seem to remember having been here for a wedding quite some years ago. TFTC
Came over to Kaituna valley to pick some cherries. This has become a family Christmas tradition. Lovely day, hot and a little wind. We must have eaten our body weight in cherries. We certainly got our monies worth. The last time Mrs TheWanglers and I visited this church was 10 years ago, and pre cachelets! It was open this time and we popped in and had a look. Cache was easily located, contents were wet, log was dry. Thanks for placing this cache.

Called by to do a spot of maintenance. Emptied damp contents, replaced with new logbook. Happy caching.
Easy find thanks. The cache was guarded by a rather dead possum, in fact the container was partially hidden by its tail!
Had a good look around inside the church. Love churches that are open to the public.
What a fabulous wee church, we were able to go in and have a look around thanks for bringing us here
Today was Kaituna Valley Day. Have not been here for years. This was first for the day. Dropped off Canterbury Tails TB, swapping for Ari Verdici.
After taking several photographs of the church, we grabbed the cache. Swapped TBs. TFTC.
Quickly found, did a bit more mopping up in the container. Dropped in GC Ari Viderci. Can't recall coming up this valley before. Very nice area.
Lovely old church - very English! Easy find though things were a bit wet in the container. TFTC
With the opportunity to get away for a day and a half, I decided on a caching expedition to Akaroa and the surounding hills. This was the third of 39 caches found. An easy park and grab on the way to Old School. Took GC. TFTC.
Found easily on a drive out from Christchurch to Little River. We did the loop out there via Lyttelton Tunnel and Gebbes Pass, then back via Gebbes Pass and Summit Road - awesome on a nice spring day. Spent a little time at the church while we were there. Dried out the contents, removed sodden paper items and left a TB I picked up while in Australia recently.
A lovely day to be out and about. A nice spot for the hide. Slightly damp inside, otherwise fine. Thanks
Easy on the scenery cruising please, it's nice to have an easy one after the Spit . Nice quiet spot. Grapes are going to raisins. Warm. This valley is a sun trap. Thanks for showing me this spot. TFTC.
TFTC. A big rusty key was in the lock, so I turned it and went in. You should too.
A wet windy mornings adventure with the family. Been here before; what a lovely wee church. More photos
for Mrs Gaters church-photo-album-in-the-making!.....Good to see it has suffered little damage. Lovely inside. Nice one, thanks.

A quick side track on the way back to Akaroa this evening. The second to visit the cache today. Nice spot, and great to see the church looks in good nick. Too many stone churches seem to have suffered in the earthquakes round here.
TFTC.

A lovely little church, thank you for bringing me down to see it. Very peaceful in the Valley this afternoon - just been for a walk on the Spit and came down as a detour on the way home. TFTC.
Quick find on the way back from a few caches today around the area.
The church looks in really good condition.
