Another blue turned yellow for today. Took us a little while but persistence paid off and the prize was in our hand. No emu here, but we did see one earlier in the day.
Time to make our way north again, leaving behind a few days more caching but we will be back. Will collect a few as we head back to our accommodation further up the coast. No emus today - would have been good to see. Maybe they and all the other creatures are being sensible and staying out of the heat. tftc#7612
TFTC. Happy caching and safe travels!____________________________________Yorke Peninsula 2023 trip (10 days)Day 1 : Travel to YP, set up camp at Point Turton Day 2 : Marion Bay/Innes NP & surrounds
Revisit to Innes National Park after quite a few years. Still enjoy the views. Quite a few changes since our last time in the area, some good and some not so. Great scenic drive on a blustery winter's day. Quick find. Saw a number of emus in the park, but none at this location.

We explored the national park and its beautiful scenery on a rather warm day. What an amazing park- we loved it! We did many of the walks and 21 caches in total, with no DNFs. Yay! TFTC
An easy find as I drove past for the dozenth time this weekend. I have seen quite a few today.
Day 7 school holiday adventures in SA saw us hit up the national park. What an amazing place. We spent most of the day here finding random caches as we went. Easy find here. A few quick ones on the way out. Will need to return to complete the trails. Thanks for the cache
Plenty of fairly relaxed emus spied on the plains! Day 8 in SA after numerous trips were sabotaged due to you know what and its the first day it has not been more than a chilly brisk! The Innes National Park and it’s caches was high on the list along with several other random caches so hoping to tick all boxes before heading back to home base. I’m out on trusty treadles aka my mtb to explore the trails and surroundings. I’ve learnt theRE are plenty of quality SA caches - plenty to pique the curiosity and anticipation of another surprise or fun cache. Happy and relieved to record no DNF’s today and on average most were located ‘relatively’ quickly. TFTC AND THE FUN and the effort to contribute to this fave game
Quick check but found nothing. Maybe the cache is still there, and it's just me ran out of luck.
Will try again next time.
Will try again next time.
Took longer than it should have and thought I may have my first DNF for the day but perseverance paid off. Upset ants though. Thanks
Quick find. Yesterday we watched an emu having a bath for ages! (see pic). Mrs m also got chased by an emu while walking the Thomson Pfitzner Plaster Trail! TFTC
A quick stop here today. The cache was easily found and Is all good
A quick overnight trip to the Yorkes for 1.5 days of solid caching. I did a bit of the geoart by myself before meeting up with Davidwazza for a majority of the day caching around Innes National Park. With an event in the evening in Edithburgh headed over there before going for a nice walk along the water front for the evening. Day 2 I made my way from Edithburgh along the coast line and back home by lunch time. A total of 169 caches for the trip.
Thanks for the cache

This weekend, I headed to the Yorke Peninsula. The goal was to visit Innes National Park for the Saturday to find a few of the oldie geocaches, but also to enjoy a different vicinity for geocaching. I used Edithburgh to base myself for the weekend's activities. On the drive to/from Edithburgh, I visited Ardrossan, Port Vincent, Wool Bay, and Coobowie, and also visited as far south as Sultana Point and Troubridge Point.
Today, after participating in Edithburgh parkrun, I met gridge98 at Marion Bay, and we travelled through Innes National Park. We drove up to Browns Beach, and then made our way back visiting and hiking Royston Head, West Cape Lightstation, Ethel Beach, Cape Spencer Lighthouse, and the historic township of Inneston. With a few hours left before the Edithburgh dinner event, we separated and I decided to head north to visit a few Yorke Peninsula oldie geocaches. Following dinner, gridge98 and I walked from Edithburgh to Coobowie find the *Where Ancestors Walked By the Sea* series.
After driving past here and making a stop, we managed to find this cache reasonably quickly. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. We've seen many groups of emus today at Innes NP. Thanks Adrian Mc + Swampy for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

No emus here but plenty of dads and their chicks further along the path. They took no notice of the cars stopping to take photographs, and then again had no road sense either, hence the 40kmh limits around here.
Found while staying in the Engineers Lodge at Inneston for a few nights, with some great scenic locations visited and some nice walks during the days. Thanks for the cache Adrian Mc + Swampy!
Our second day exploring this wonderful park, today we started at Stenhouse bay, exploring walking tracks and find a few caches along the way, this was our last cache before having to hit the road home, a quick find but no emus crossing today although we spotted quite a few in other locations

After a week on the power trails with only diversions here and there to pick up other caches we are treating ourselves to a day in the Innes National Park.
A chance to maybe see some wonderful scenery and the native flora and fauna and even a lighthouse or two.
The final cache for the day as we return to camp after a marvellous day. This is a really spectacular place, so we will be back again tomorrow.
A nice straightforward find.

After a review of the geocaching map in South Australia it was determined a trip to the Yorke Peninsula would yield some significant numbers. So, The Rats, Hoojar and I teamed up once agan to tackle the many caches on the peninsula.
We started in the darkness after flying into Adelaide and the next day set some personal records (550+ caches in a day) and milestones before bunking down. The next day was another massive numbers haul which resulted in a bit over 1,000 caches in two days !
Then it was a little more sedate down to the bottom of the peninsula and then back up the easterly side, ticking off a few EarthCaches in the process .
After that, back to Adelaide for some night caching, virtuals and more EarthCaches!
The power trails on the peninsula were great- quiet roads, some great green wheat and yellow canola scenery, coupled with some great company and usual ribbing of each other [^]!
Thanks for your cache- sorry about the generic log. For the EarthCaches and virtuals look out for an email or two shortly.

This was a trip that had been some time in the making. A journey from Wollongong in New South Wales to the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, in search of large numbers. Five days were set aside, and The Rats, Steeba, and myself planned the details out. Lofty numbers were floated; we could find one thousand geocahces... Maybe more! The world was our oyster, all we had to do was make it happen.
We flew into Adelaide and quickly rented our car, then headed off for a series of thirty letterbox caches late that night. We then set up camp, ready for the next few days.
Two days journeying down the Yorke Peninsular saw us collect 550 caches the first day, and 450 the next. One thousand caches in two days! The numbers were phenomenal, unheard of, and excellent! At one stage we found fifty caches in a one hour period! We worked ourselves into a solid routine, and managed to push these numbers without caching after dark. Incredible! We camped out beside the trail, ready to commence again the following morning.
Having reached our goal of one thousand, we rented a cabin and enjoyed a solid relax and beet, and we were then able to dedicate the remaining time to specific caches, mostly Earthcaches to keep Steeba (The Professor) happy, and a good number of Vrtuals as well, as we made our way back from the end of the Yorke Peninsular to Adelaide. It really became a Tour De Earthcache! If your geocache is such a hide, stand-by, as Steeba will soon contact you with our answers.
As is always the case with these trips, the company was the highlight, with banter non stop, the time went by in an instant.
We saw some amazing things, found some excellent caches, and had an absolute blast.
Ticking just over 1300 finds for the trip, you will have to excuse the boilerplate logs!
Thanks to all of the cache hiders for their efforts in placing and maintaining their hides. It was fantastic exploring this part of the world that I had never visited before. Thanks also to my geocaching partners, without whom such a trip would not be possible, nor fun!
Cheers

The Rats, steeba and Hoojar have teamed up for a York Peninsula adventure of massive proportion. With much planning and logistical coordinating, we had a great five days meandering the country roads collecting a plethora of caches. Our journey started with a handful letterbox caches before heading down the peninsula following the “Gone Fishn” series. We followed this up with an array of geo-art images that litter the lower peninsula. Returning to Adelaide we collected a gaggle of old and rare finds which included some interesting earthcaches and virtuals.
My apologises for the generic log, but thanks to all the cache owners and caching buddies who made the road-trip such a memorable and fun experience.

Team SWAGJJ is visiting the Yorke Peninsula this week to complete the geo art and collect traditionals, multis and other types along the way. Seeing some amazing country side and views as well. Thanks to all the COs for placing these caches.
Yorke Peninsula Day 3: A small break for power trails (after a quick 60 caches from the fishing line...). Then we collected caches around the Yorketown and Edithburgh area and in the Innes National Park. Some spectacular scenery to take in, strong winds to battle on top of cliffs, and another exhausting day. Signed as SWAG-JJ. TFTC!
Emus were crossing today, we needed to wait for them to pass!

#2449 We spotted plenty of emus today as explored Inneston NP by a combination of geobike and geocar. None crossing here this arvo. We did come across a well hidden cache though. Thanks Adrian MC + Swampy.
The signs that Emu's Cross here were plain to see by the roadside
The Emus that cross the road everywhere but here at the designated crossing were also plain to see
Which is why you should stick to the 40km/h speed limit.
Emus hit at speed don't bounce off the front of small cars and sedans,
they crumple the bonnet before caving in your windscreen [:o]
I've seen the results [:o]
And if you are on a motorcycle ... well
So here at the crossing,
I wandered across to find the well hidden cache

First we must appologise for the generic logs.
We came to Yorke Peninsular with Speedmistress who hails from Queensland to cache our little hearts out and this we are doing.
We solved loads of puzzles prior to coming and with all the earth, multi, trads and puzzles there are here we were never lacking in variety.
When we found caches that needed repair we have done our best to do what was possible, unfortunately we have now rum out of spare containers, so no more repairs can be done. We have enjoyed the scenery, the walks, the animal life and the challenges that was encountered while traveling the Peninsular. Not all the caches have been attempted due to time restraints but those have been earmarked for future visits.
We also would like to thank Speedmistress for supplying our geocaching chariot.
A huge thanks to all the cache owners for placing these caches for us to enjoy.

On this occassion, I am doing a generic log. I have travelled from Queensland to meet up with Muff1 for a Geocaching extravaganza on the beautiful Yorke Peninsular. Our goal to Cache, Cache and Cache. Each day our "finds" have been growing in number, some days more productive then others. We have also been careful to take time to appreciate the natural wonder of the areas we have visited. The variety of caches was interesting, some very clever, some the quick grab they were designed to be. A big thank you to all of the dedicated Cache placers who have made this possible.
We really did see emus close by here!!
As it so happens, CPwanderer and I had been on the Yorke Peninsula about 30 hours before this find as we had been chasing golds from the T.O.Y. Series. When home we saw that a number of new T.O.Y. caches had been published, so after a few phonecalls we crazily decided to lock in another trip! [:o)]
I collected CP at 6am, Locus at 6:40am and then the 3 of us cached all over the YP (from Port Arthur to Edithburgh to Innes National Park to Corny Point and then Ardrossan for dinner and everyone was home by 11pm. It was a long day but we had a ball. We got about 15 golds today.

Found while on Yorke Peninsula with iluvtrekking. Fortunate to have amazingly clear, warm weather for duration of our stay which made for very pleasant caching. # 9408. After 3 days of GeoArt it is now time for Robmc and me to relax and spend a lovely day in the Innes National Park. The grey start turned into a mild, sunny day that helped turn the ocean into many lovely shades of blue and green. With Spring starting all the plants were putting on a colourful display and I was able to gather some gorgeous old-style freesias to bring back to the accommodation. (They are introduced nuisance plants out here, so just doing the park a service).
We missed stopping for this one on the way past so grabbed it on the way back again. We did see an emu here but it wasn't obeying the rules and crossing where the sign is. This was the last one for me for the day and now it is back to Marion Bay for us.
Thanks Adrian Mc

Today was day seven of the ahomburg and sharkiefan 2015 road trip to South Australia. We managed to find all but one of the geoart over the last three days, so we had some unfinished business with Sammy Starfish 20. we also wanted to check out Innes National park and surrounding area, followed by some areas further north east in the Yorktown region and surrounds. We managed to pick up many Traditionals, a couple of Multis, the all important Mystery cache for the Souvenir on offer and even found an Archived cache in our Travels. Despite a bit of rain over the day, had a fantastic time, almost covering the whole lower part of the peninsula. Coords seemed a bit out here, but didnt take too long here.

So the adventure with FurfacesLL ladies, specimenX and myself had begun on the Yorke. We were here to attack the geo-art and what ever else we could get our hands on. 5 days of fun and games, many stories to be shared and a good weekend all in all
This was full day number 3, after a big day yesterday we were back out again to continue hitting the geo-art. Apologies for the generic logs.
It was out to the National Reserve to pick up some more caches after succesfully finishing the geo-art powertrails.
Thanks to all the cache owners who took their time to place the caches we have collected over this weekend. [^]

Our geomission with Rapidlywild and SpecimenX had commenced. This geomission had been in the planning since the new geo-art caches had been placed. The Canberra Day long weekend was chosen to give us enough days to collect as many as possbile. Our target is to get all of the caches in the art works and a few more if possible.
We finished collecting all the art and now it was time to take in the sights of the peninsula and the national park.
Thanks to all the cache owners for placing the caches we had a blast of a weekend!

A drive around the Bottom end today haven't been down here for more than 20years when stayed last time think need to get out more as was surprised as last time was here there was only dirt roads now sealed roads. So now we see the sites showing Squash99 and finding caches as we are camped out at Butlers Beach for a few days with the McKee Clan. Now the final days of 2014 are approaching with 2015 just around the corner.TFTC
