Staying in Koroit, we decided to head for Warrnambool. This is a very interesting piece of history. We found the gate and headed towards GZ. I was a bit dismayed when I saw the temporary abode and all the rubbish, but the area seemed deserted. I used the hint as I did not want to hang around too long. Fortunately the cache was found quickly.
This geocache was the last dip for Pablo after Horn, gehschei and he found their way to the final. Thanks for hiding!
Quick find here. Thanks for the cache. DNF from many years ago resolved.Cleaning up Victoria with gridge98. We are on a mission this week. Completing twenty finds in Mexican local government areas is the challenge. Another find with the correct criteria. It is in Victoria and we have not accumalated twenty finds in this local government area.Today was the day to find this cache. Today is Moon's day the fourteenth day of the octavus month of the Roman calendar in the wonderful year of twenty twenty four. We found your cache container and added some inky stuff to the paper sheet or note pad you have supplied for a log book or scroll. The cache container and log book or scroll were in good condition. It was a bit cooler today. It was so windy today. A few showers. With the log signed and the cache replaced it was time to leave. Onwards to the next cache. Woot, that is not to far.I would like to show my respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land, and their continuing connection to it. I wish to pay my respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. I had packed up A'Tuin the geomobile, the geodogs, Gypsy Girl, Teeny Treek, and Mini Michi on board, and we had set off for Warrnambool, where Mrs Dromaniax would meet us later in the day.We had a list of caches we wanted to find today, and having just completed a First to Find, we were back in Colac to find the Multicaches hidden around town. We had completed the data collection task on previous visits, and now was the day to find them all and see if we could finally have a day with six Multicache finds. After a couple of days in Warrnambool, we were on our way back home, but before we left Warrnambool, we wanted to see if we could find another six multicaches in a day. This was the first one for the day as it was closest to the place we had stayed. It was a nice, quick find.Thank you, Kia1, for this Multicache.
After using the compass on the gizmo for direction and pacing out distance, I came to a stop. Looking around I couldnt see anything obvious of where the hide would be, but then after a quick wonder I found the way to get to this one.
Found it , we are not that great at projections, so we had a bit of a search, then gave up. Went back to camp and paf who is good at these. Now, with a bit more of an idea on location, we went back in the darkness and found the sneaky hide. Tftc
Found with shashabear9.Interesting piece of history for the area. Pool clearly distinguishable. TFTC
Day #2 Leaping Forward AdventuresAfter leaving my dinner event in town and high tailing it across to Colac for the night, today was a journey to eventually cross the SA border, at some point. How many stops will there be? .This had been a previous DNF as the potential location was quite large. I returned today and checked in a spot we had looked previously, but some inside knowledge put us on the right path. It looks like the area is a little cleaner than last time also. DNF avenged! Thanks Kia1 for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy. ----------------------------------------------------------The Ballarat GeoTour ends on 4 March 2024! I never have a good sleep when I am away from my family so I decided to stretch the legs and grab a few caches. This multi was the first for this morning. After doing what I needed, I made my way to GZ and soon had the cache in hand. You must have pretty big paces :pThanks for the hide
This was my second visit here. The first time, I needed to learn how to complete the projection correctly. No such issues were encountered this time, and the hint took me directly to the cache. Thanks for placing it here, and it's nice to see it survive what seems like a recent cleanup of the shrubbery.
solved and found. a quick find at gz. I was getting my numbers up to 20 finds in this LGA. Found with Mogni. I think this is the most changed trip in the planning stage that i have ever been on. The " original trip " was supposed to start on the 31st of dec but at the start of decemeber life changed and the trip was now starting on the 26th of decemeber and all accommodation that had booked cancelled and now see what else is free on the ealier dates. A major readjust of plans and got 1/2 the trip booked before the next curve ball came in to alter the plans again. More adjusting the plans again and i realized i could host 2 CITO's in 2 different LGA's in victoria. What we do to qualify for victorian challenge caches. Also i got my 20, 000 cache over in victoria in this trip. It was decided in the end that the 4x4 was going to be the vechicle for this trip that way we could go and target all the caches that you never get, the ones down the sandy/rocky/dirt and forestry roads/tracks. We left Adelaide and headed to Casterton for a couple of days, then to Budj Bim National Park ( and saw 5 koalas in the camp ground high up in the trees ), then over Heywood, a night in Mount Gambier plus there attended the 3rd CITO of the trip before sending a few nights in Millicent and then finally home. Over 250 caches found plus 86 lab caches. Mogni also got her 11th D/T loop. I also got 3 more victorian LGA's up to 20 finds mininium for another victorian challenage cache. If the cache was broken/eaten/smashed it was reaced with a new container and if the logsheet was wet it was replaced and if the log was full or almost full extra log sheets were added to the cache.
Unsure if meant to be counting 60m from first gate or after at have crossed the line. But checked the wooden fence thoroughly
Despite having a good search in the area I’m pretty sure is the right location. I’ll recalculate before trying again next visit.
Needing multis I stop here. But unfortunately it was a DNF after projecting twice.
No idea why this one evaded me. I went back to check my answer and double checked I'd added the coords into waypoints correctly, but no joy at GZ. On a trip the Otways, taking advantage of the ultra cheap v-line ticket price, so a 2 hour train trip each way to get this LGA and a few things I needed in the area. But this was the start of not such a good trip, 4 DNFs and only 3 finds. Some days it just happens!
We made our way through the information and numbers, enjoying the short history lesson here. A beautiful picture and information on the wall nearby.
Then, onto finding the Hide.
After some searching, and re-interpreting the good hint, we soon had this one signed and continued our walk, exploring this beautiful area.
Thanks Kia1

Touring around the town of Warrnambool today in the wet and windy weather, not stopping us from grabbing some caches. A simple multi and quick find thanks to helpful hint. Cache is in good condition for its age, cheers.

Armed with some more information, I returned to search for this cache and found it this time.
That's a long distance to pump water in from the beach!

Bunadoorian and I went in search of this cache last night but we were spotted by the Historical society members having their Christmas break up. We had a great idea where the cache was but didn't want to find it while being watched. Back early this morning and it was found as we expected. TFTC , for the history lesson ( which was enhanced by a lovely Gentleman from the Histroical soceity which we chatted with last night), and for brining us here - Kia1.
After a DNF yesterday on this cache I returned early this morning to see if the cache was in a spot I noticed that looked likely. Surprisingly I was proved to be correct. What a wonderful novelty. Thanks for bringing us here and TFTC.
When approaching GZ Grub62 and I were approached by a muggle who said that he was a member of the historical society having their Christmas break up in the nearby building. Due to the break up and the overgrowth of the vegetation I thought it wise not to be too enthusiastic. So it's a DNF for me. TFTC.
Not sure why we didn't have a DNF here as GT37, OzHockeyChick, RoamingHowie and myself had searched for this on a previous visit with no luck.
We decided to start from scratch again and it did take us to a slightly different elevation and this time the cache was located. Thanks for placing this for us to find.

Very pleased to make the find this time but not sure why I didn't have a frown on this one. OHC, RH, P4506 and myself had looked for this some time ago with no luck. This time, after recalculating the coords, we found the cache a little distance from our last attempt. Thanks for the cache.
Had a team of 6 and couldn't see it. Pics through log book helped but still nothing.
With my work done for the day I have the afternoon off.
Well, until I drive back to the big smoke.
Time to take a walk around town and grab a few caches.
My first stop was up on the hill with the cannons. What a view.
Next port of call down to the old Seawater Swimming Baths.
There were a few blokes loitering near the posted coordinates but I still felt almost invisible.
I got off to a shaky start before actually reading all of the cache page.
Everything fell into place nicely and the cache was soon located in it's very secure hiding spot.
As previously stated the contents were a tad damp, but having read that before leaving the truck I came prepared. I dried out both of the containers and the log. I also took the liberty of adding a strip of stone paper to the cache. Removed the manky swap. Didn't have anything of comparable value. Replaced everything and ensured that the lids were both done up correctly. The cache was on it's side when I arrived but I left it more upright. Hopefully it stays dry now. Replaced the camo and headed off to the next one.
Thanks for the history lesson and a mighty fine caching experience Kia1. Very much appreciated.

Rain started just as I arrived at the posted coordinates. Quickly found what I was looking for after a calculation but the log was very soggy. Rabbit was on guard!
There are major works going on here around the start of the hunt, so out of action for awhile.
Finally gotcha!
This one took me about four trips to the site to try and find it but today I got there
The cache is wet inside and unfortunately the log is wet inside the small container as well.
Thanks for another interesting cache.

Searched everywhere but was unable to come up with the goods today. Initially my coords put me in view of people enjoying their lunch dining experience. I moved further down and matched a location to the clue. Unfortunately searching the required area there was no cache visible.
This one eluded me a couple of years ago. I did the projection right but didn't look well enough.
Back today to tackle again and no need for a projection this time.
Just where I looked last time though the cache is well hidden.
All good with the contents.
Thanks Kia1

We had to do our projections twice to make sure we had it right! It really helps when you follow the pointing machine and don’t trust your own assumptions. We and Beavar are definitely suffering from lack of food! SL at 12.44pm #8084 TFTC Kia1 - definitely time for lunch now.
Lucky we had Harrowang with us or I don’t think we would have been able to figure out the way to go!

Travelled down to Warrnambool for the weekend, primarily to do a CITO on Saturday morning but also to grab a few choice geocaches that I have been eyeing off for some time. Also the obligatory market required to keep MuggleWifeDoes happy
Nice quick offset and found easily.

Back in the ‘Bool for another Easterish holiday! I’d DNFd here in 2019, 2020 was 2020 (we camped in the front yard, but it’s not the same), and 2021 was redemption time. And so it proved - I walked straight up to it, signed, and was off to Swintons to get the milk before you could say “well why didn’t you do that last time?” Thanks Kia1
Worries about snakes so we sent Geo husband into to find it great spot for a cache and first to sign the new log in pristine condition. Would never have known this was here! TFTC
Finally found this cache couldn’t find 18 months ago, the area has been cleaned up
and a quick find today. The log is wet and falling a part when signing. Sorry no supplies. TFTC

Didn’t find it on the first go but was pretty damn close! After a helpful hint was able to come back and locate the sneaky spot. Thanks for a great geocache!
Ah! Went for one last dig after logging as DNF. Had been a bit covered. Log a bit damp but singable. Very cool to walk over the old pool. Thanks!
Found by miss 5 who was a fan of the pen. Good timing meant we saw the freight train going past with 39 shipping containers in tow.

Found while out on a cool, smoky day, too cold for the beach so out touring around instead.
Found this one quite easily, was very impressed with the accuracy of the waypoint projection.! Reading your cache notes, I'm glad we aren't swimming in this pool now!
Thx kia1, been a while since i did a multi via this method. Cache container ok but log a little damp. Still signable, cheers

I found this cache on a trip from Adelaide with FeatherWaite for a few days of caching in south-western Victoria/south-eastern South Australia.
We had some specific areas and caches that we were targeting, but also took the opportunity to find a few other caches along the way.
After spending the night camped near the beach just outside Warrnambool, we headed back into town early in the morning to find some caches before then heading towards Portland.
I loved the concept of the hot and cold seawater baths here - its the sort of ‘quaint’ cultural history that I find interesting.
The information was collected, coordinates projected and the cache was a quick find. Fittingly perhaps, the logbook was a little damp but OK.
Thanks Kia1 for the cache.

Found during a caching trip with e.gregory1 to south-western Victoria and south-eastern South Australia for a few days. Day 1 saw us travel from Adelaide to Keith, the back-roads past Bordertown to Frances, Edenhope, Harrow, Coleraine, Wannan, Hamilton, Byaduk, Koroit and down to Warrnambool. That night we camped out behind the coastal dunes west of Warrnambool after a collecting a sprinkling of local caches. On day 2 we returned to find a few caches around Tower Hill before heading through Port Fairy to Portland, spending the rest of an unpleasantly hot and windy day around Portland and camping out nearby. On day 3 we drove from Portland to Nelson with a detour to Dartmoor, then back to Ewen Ponds, Port MacDonnell, and a circuitous route up to Mt Gambier with a solid days' caching culminating in some rewarding finds around the Blue and Green Lakes. We were very lucky to locate a very pleasant campsite a few kilometres out of town in Xanthorrhoea (grass tree) mixed eucalypt woodland for the night. The final day saw us travel to Millicent to complete the SFE Challenge series, then to Kingston, Salt Creek, Meningie, Tailem Bend, Murray Bridge and return back home. All in all a very eventful and fruitful trip with some great cache finds, some easy drive-bys, challenging tree climbs, a number of strenuous walks and visits to many scenic locations. We found an assortment of traditionals, puzzles, multis, earthcaches and virtuals, including a rewarding first-to-find, a wide range of difficulty-terrain combinations and detours to locate some unloved caches.
Thanks for the cache Kia1!

Sean.75 knew what to do here so we were set! What a cool place with a great view!! TFTC
Having a weekend away with friends I took the opportunity to get out early and check this one out. Did not think I had a chance as I am not good at projections. Fudged it well by looking at the hint. Thanks for giving it to me. Very impressed with the town. Thanks for the cache Kia1. Greetings from Melbourne
No luck here this morning but I notice plenty of others had to come back to find.
After dinner at the RSL, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to grab this one. Great bit of history and we wondered how people could have enjoyed swimming in a lime pool...hmmm...
The cache was quickly located, but we really enjoyed the details and knowing what the structure was at our feet. Thanks for the history lesson.

So it turns out that rubbish at projection we found with the help of a paf thanks for the hide and telling us about this pkace
Earlier today we were here, but so was 50 million members of the Hi-vis brigade!! Half of them moved on and the rest started work. We wandered around Warrnambool and made a few other finds before making our way back here. We started again and soon worked out East wasn’t quite where we thought it was. Nevermind, weworked it out and had the cache signed and replaced. Tftc
NB:It's not at the rsl!
Found with FUF009.
A 3 day weekend for both of us meant testing the new swags and caching in areas we both had loads of choice from.
Meeting at Panmure and sussing out where to camp was the 1st priority (Lake Ellingamite), then merged into 1 car and hit the trails.
We changed camping location to near Colac for the 2nd night, less bugs more wind.
We had a wonderful weekend with many interesting finds and locations. Thanks to all the cache owners.

Found with sharkiefan on a camping and caching long weekend in the South west area of Victoria.
We visited from Mortlake to Port Fairy to Colac to Timboon and everything in between, and finishing up in Ballarat on Monday evening for the Giff event.
With GZ calculated, we over shot the height. But coming down a level we made the find.

The last day of Owl and Sushilord's South-Eastern wander and they were on a mission to make the most of it. Times were crunched, priorities were set, and they were off and running. Owl was determined to do as many multis as possible to qualify for a certain SA Challenge cache, so this was a must-do. They'd had a previous failed attempt in the dark, due to dodgy numbers, but a quick check, followed by redo of calculations and some serious bush-bashing finally revealed the prize.
We are travelling to Adelaide via Warrnambool, Mt Gambier and Victor Harbour. We have stayed in Warrnambool for a couple of nights and are heading off today but decided to grab a few caches before we left.
GMelb initially took the WP projection from the listed co-ords, whoops!! So after doing the right thing lol, we came to an area that matched the hint. We found the cache after a little hunt. Loved the picture of the old baths and I was fascinated by what it was made of. From a distance it looks like glass.

Hey, i think we was in the right place, but indeed ouer way was cut by a kangaroo, so we didnt get closer as the photo shows.
Ftf in 2018! With the cache buried in so much leaf litter I'm not surprised it took me so many attempts to find this one. This was the last cache i had left in Warrnambool, finally got em all!
After a long weekend of racing, we decided to go and collect some caches. I was lost here we went on the bearing we had but no way we were in the right spot. Looked at previous find photos and was an easy find TFTC
Didnt find this one today, searched for half hour and the weather wasnt great
Going for a last Dip At Warrnambool how nice the way we said Good bye and headed home today casually driving do a few caches site seeing who knows where we will end up tonight. That's the plan just drive where we feel and cache when we see one here and there limited on time, doing caches close to the road today. TFTC
Gosh the pool sounds scary, with today's fixation with antibacterial wipes etc no one would ever have been allowed to swim in it . Dare I tell the story of one of our foster children, as an adult, would not drink our rain water because birds may have done unmentionable things on our roof, yet hubby and I were bought up on it and even allowed to play with dirt. SL TFTC
Thanks Kia1 for bringing us here today. Great history lesson and even better seeing the remains. Would never have known this place existed without your hidden cache. TFTC LS.
From THAT gate which I marked on the phone then headed off for the required distance. After a short search the cache was found. Loved the oval remains. TFTC
Found today as I came to Warrnambool on a day trip...
GZ located, log signed & started heading back when I felt a sharp pain in my foot...I had trodden on a piece of glass that went through my thick soled shoe & into my foot...luckily I was wearing the shoes I was as it didn't pierce it...BEWARE there is a lot of glass in the area...
