Quick find before heading down to the gorge for a swim. We loved the whole hike with the butterflies and the refreshing water at the end.TFTH
track still closed but i was ready for adventure, so i had to find the cache on the way! nice climb (seems that a little rockslide happens recently tho, maybe a bit tricky one atm) and nice walk, i love the butterflies. TFTC
We had a spare day in Katherine and after some research decided to do The Butterfly Gorge walk. Well this walk certainly did not disappoint and to have some caches on here as well was a bonus. Probably one of our favourite hikes to date. We came unprepared for geocaching, not looking at the photo's before we left and not taking our phones with us. Mr Parko was all over this one and had it very quickly, while Mrs Parko was off getting bitten by ants. Thanks gibbo003
We decide to ride a few of the tracks with a few side shoots being walked. It was an interesting ride and would hate to be here when it is busy and meet another rider on these multi use two way tracks. Met a few walkers when we got closer to pats lookout.
We enjoyed the walk down to the gorge spotting a few different types of butterflies. I was reading the cache page I had downloaded and realised there was a photo that may have helped and I hadn't downloaded as had no reception when I looked. So I thought I would just be methodical and look in the most obvious spots per the description and I soon had the cache in hand. All good with the cache.
TNLNSL. Thanks for placing

Nice big and sturdy container for the bush, all is good here. A long walk and the track down to butterfly gorge is very overgrown. It is like looking for the reflectors in the dark, looking for the next arrow. But it is nice walking in the shade for a while. And lot of butterflies around . TFTC
We had a most beautiful walk into butterfly gorge, where we were able to stop for a swim in a very quiet area.
So many butterflies also in the shaded area of the walk.
Along the way we spoke to a couple of the Park rangers who are doing some new signage for the Trail, all of which seem very effective.
Arriving at GZ, it was Mr Domsky Who made the short trip down and then up again to the rock face to search for this one.
In attempting to climb for it, a rather large rock was released and a small landslide ensued. The noise echoed enormously in this area. Fortunately, he had taken a step back and the only casualty was his walking pole which was picked up out of the rubble in about 3 pieces.
As it turns out, the hide itself was still safe and untouched as it was a little higher up, and by changing position and attack, we soon had this one signed.
Thanks gibbo003

Happy to find this one. One muggle surprised me when I was climbing and said that I thought that it is a wallaby but it was another human being. Tftc!
Out for a big walk today with friends whilst we spend a few days in Katherine. Great to be able to also pick up a few caches along the way.
We did 19km all up and visited some amazing spots.
Lots of beautiful butterflies here today , easily found with good coordinates.
Cache in good condition.
Thanks gibbo003

We searched quite a while: we climbed up to the top and couldn't find anything. Then we climbed back down until we found it. It would help to know, that it's not that high.

Today our tour - which began in Perth, WA , and led us thru Western, Northern and Southern Australia back to Perth, was simply driving around in the Kakadu NP.
On the way we came to some interesting locations. Here we searched, found and logged this Tradi-Cache.
Weather was good in the morning and it should even get better during the day.
Thanks to 'gibbo003' for showing us this location, for the fun we had with 'Just another 500' and for the smiley. The search here and today didn't take too much time, fortunately.
Coordinates are within ~1m accuracy - good reason for a fav point.
Greetings from Germany and we hope to see you soon in the forest, prairie, desert or outback .

Awesome hike.. Deserve a beer at the end of that.. P. S take the long way round it worth it
We traveled through Northern Territory for four weeks. We started the journey in Alice Springs and drove to Uluru, Kata Tjuta and then to Kings Canyon, Rebank Gorge, Glen Helen Gorge, Ormiston Gorge, back to Alice Springs, to Devils Marbels, Katherine, Katherine Gorge and then further on to the north.

We were surprised how quickly we found this cache given the difficulties with the GPS. We did continue down to the river for a swim and really enjoyed the walk through the gorge. Thanks for placing this cache. A favourite from us.
Went out to the gorges today to do the butterfly gorge and some of the lookouts. Had a fantastic day walking and enjoying this beautiful part of the world. Thanks for putting a cache out here to make it that little more entertaining. TFTC

A quick find in the heat of the day; thankfully no muggles in the worst of the wet season heat!
Quick find on our way down to the Butterfly Gorge where we spent the hot hours after noon. Great place there. TFTC.
Found on the way back out from Butterfly Gorge great walk into the second gorge of Nitmiluk. Have picked up the Dark Knight. Enjoyed the Cache many thanks.
Today we ventured to Nitmiluk National Park to complete most of these caches in the area. An early start and off we went, taking 7 hours to complete. Loved the walk through the george, easy find.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Found today on our walk by. Thanks to previous logs and pics to find the write spot. Lovely and cool here today in the gorge. TFTC.
This was another find in Northern Territory while crossing Northern Territory and Western Australia from Darwin to Perth on Gibb River Road through the Kimberlys. During this 8500km journey we've met many nice and friendly people [^], visited countless marvelous places, saw lots of interesting local wildlife (and plants), took some 2500 pictures home and logged some 300 Caches .
To our surprise this one was quick and easy . Mini Cacheator found it even before we've really started to search . If we're not mistaken, then this was the FTF in 2014 [^].
Thanks for the cache, we've enjoyed it very much [^].

I also have to start my log with a warning. DON'T TAKE THE DESCRIPTION TOO SERIOUS WHEN IT COMES TO "A LITTLE ROCK CLIMBING"! Every cacher might have a different understanding of what is meant by that and due to the inaccuracy of the GPS near GZ one might find him- or herself way too far up the rocks. That happened to me first, even after looking at the spoiler photos (there's a dead tree up on the rocks that looks 99 % like the one on the photo and was, according to my GPS, closer than the "real" one). Now, being a rock climber, I could have made my way up to the very top and still call it "a little rock climbing"... So please, don't go too far, don't risk too much!
Apart from that I really liked the cache. It has a decent size and will probably last forever
I enjoyed the walk very much, but was also longing for a shower and a cold brew afterwards
What I didn't like was seeing people doing the walk in thongs. Pretty risky.
Anyway, it wad an awesome day out in a beautiful landscape, made even better by this cache. TFTC!

I must start this cache log with a warning to future finders.
[red]GZ is at present an extremely hazardous area, due to the instability of the rock face immediately
below where the cache is hidden. [/red]
A large piece of rock about 2 metres across, 1 metre high and half a metre deep is just hanging off the side of the rock face.
Do not approach this cache from directly below.
Go left and stick to the firm ground.
Otherwise you risk pulling a few tonnes of rock down on yourself, or others in your party [:o]
My own cache chase today was a leisurely affair, as dictated by the heat of the late morning and rough trails to get here
But it is well worth the effort to experience this place on foot.
There are perspectives and vistas you just cannot get from the boat
At GZ I picked me way up from the shade of the palms and soon had the cache in paw.
The cache is certainly of sturdy construction and remains in excellent condition [^]
I continued my stroll down to the gorge after signing the logbook.
Well why wouldn't you

While hiking through these trails above Katherine found this cache. Indeed, it can be hot and exhausting, certainly when you hike about 30 kilometers. However, it is certainly worth the effort.
We did the walk and found the nearby cache, but this one without the spoiler photo and loose rocks was a bit more than we were willing to risk. However a great location and great trail to the Gorge.
Did the extra 500, made the find then went on down the gorge further before retracing for a 3 hr return walk finishing before sunset at 6 pm in the cool. Tftc
Nice quick find, thank goodness

Have been wanting to get to Butterfly Gorge for a while now so decided today was the day, pulled on the hiking boots and hit the track, found the going pretty easy having made the trek to the waters edge at trails end and back to the car in just under 4hrs and that includes finding 2 caches and spending half an hour for lunch at the gorge before heading back. To easy, bring on the next cache maybe Purple and Smits rock next weekend. TNLN TFTC.
My last day in Katherine and probably the last find for this trip. A beautiful walk to the two Butterfly Gorge caches with plenty of wildlife (of the furry and feathered kind) to keep me company. I left for this one around 8am and returned 10.30am beating most of the heat and the other walkers which made it all the more pleasant.

I decided to bring a muggle friend along for the walk. I figured this would be a good example of a bush cache to show him the ropes. The walk was scenic but as we had left later than planned the heat was raging by the time we arrived. A quick hunt to find the hide and smiles all round. TFTC gibbo003. [741]
We progressed to this cache after doing the other nearby one. A most enjoyable walk in the cool of the morning. A short search revealed the cache. Then friend Jan and myself walked down the gorge to the Katherine river while Bruce and friend Phil had the longer route to find Purple. A great experience. Thanks gibbo003.
It has taken 13 months, but we said we would be back and we finally came up with the goods. As it turns out we had 3 sets of eyes within 5 metres of the hiding place. Thanks Gibbo for the walk (again) and the cache. It was a great day for this as we managed to bag a FTF on "PURPLE" as well.. That certainly made the 20km round trip worthwhile.

Thanks for bringing us out here. My last visit to the Park was in 1971. My how things have changed !!! Took a while to find this one . Once we started to widen the search area the climbing became easier and the cache was found.TNLN TFTC

A very clever name and a very beautiful walk! This walk was the highlight of my visit to this park. My only disappointment was that I forgot to take my camera. TFTC!
lots of butterflies today.... a number of different species, certainly added to the enjoyment of the walk and hunt

Why is it that all of my adventurous cache expeditions tend to happen during the buildup or the wet season???? I think I'm stupid LOL
Set out at about 7:45am with "Slat's" and a mate from work. Quite a relaxing walk with numerous vantage spots for lovely photos
I managed to leave my Garmin Oregon 300 behind but thankfully we had continued onto Katherine Gorge, so we had to go back that way anyway.
Highlight of the walk was our mid point at Katherine Gorge where we discovered Turtles, Archer Fish, Catfish and a HUGE Barramundi.........that all enjoyed consuming the choc chip cookies that we threw to them LOL
Upon returning to the carpark 4 hours and 11km later it was discovered that Slat's had left his headlights on. With legs of Jelly we were then forced to push start his 4wd..........Oh the joy!!!
Took Safety Whistle TB in order to move it along, left nothing. TFTC

A bit further in from a nearby cache and a surprising 2TF. The coordinates were actually good for me and even though I had not seen the photos the cache did not take long to find. Unfortunately time was short and I was not able to go further among the gorge.
I was to pay dearly for this excursion when I got back to camp!
I was to pay dearly for this excursion when I got back to camp!
We left the pocketpc in the car and by the time we realised it was too late to turn around and retrieve it. With no hints and only the coordinates to go by we had no hope of locating this one given the very poor accuracy of the GPS in this terrain. We will be back, as it is a good excuse for another long walk Just have to convince the rest of the now stiff and sore tribe

Well there are many caches and about 5k km since our last FTF so we are more than pleased about it. We could only manage about 14 m accuracy at GZ so had to use a bit of caching nous to come up with the goods.
