First visit to Mt Buller and it was cold - four degrees and windy. Was hoping to do a few walks but hit the caches around the village and then back down the hill. AdLab app wasnt working so looked at some sculptures but didnt get any info and missed the FTF on the bonus cache.Wandering around the village and this was the next find. Surprised to find this type of container here and All good at the cache.TFTC gmj3191
Even though we couldnt throw snowballs at each other, we thoroughly enjoyed exploring this beautiful area. As we approached, we spotted the cache and added a bit more camouflage after the signing duties were completed. Thanks for the history of APIRA gmj3191.
Merging my accounts. Found this as Hoterini 24/12/12. Now tracking together with Ambers007 and merging the old finds.
On a short trip south and before heading home we detoured up to Mount Buller in order to collect the webcam and stretch our feet before continuing our drive. With the cache in hand we signed the log before replacing as found. All caches found this afternoon were in good condition. Thanks for the cache gmj3191.The following TBs came through for the mileage: Bob geoMinion, Dave geoMinion, Evil geoMinion, Jerry geoMinion, Larry geoMinion, Mary Hyde's Treasure, Stuart geoMinion, teamMerlin's 7 Deadly Ducks Tag (Lust), Vanlith The Youngling, Hidden Creatures Geocoin TB, teamMerlin's Football, Autism Speaks Puzzle Piece #16, Dottie the Gingerbread Man Travel Tag - Replacement, South Africa Flag Micro Geocoin, Ornithorhynchus anatinus, Sydney the Koala Travel Tag, Best day ever, Nessy - The Loch Ness Monster, Hidden Creatures to Walca, Mont Saint-Michel Cache Race Tag, Speurmausje, Youre a STAR!, Czech Travel Gecko Tag - Erinnerung an PRAG GIGA 2022, South East UK Mega 2024, King's Quest VI
Found on a visit to Mount Buller for the day while staying at Benalla for two nights. The main aim of the day was to qualify for two high-altitude challenge caches in the 'Straya' challenge series near Karoonda SA. Thanks for the cache gmj3191!
We are on the way to Canberra for the MEGA Easter 2024 via Victoria. We stop for sightseeing and caches. We took the time to look around this deserted area with shops closed, but lots of tradies bring very busy to prepare everything for the upcoming ski season. We found this cache and signed the log.Tftc gmj3191

In town for the Oscar's Hut to Hut event with the legendary Lex of Skullracing and staying at Apira, how could I pass up this cache. Great weather to be out supporting the runners. Grabbed the TB to keep it moving. Thanks for the cache.
Nice hide, grass a bit overgrown so had to take a stick in case of snakes. Lovely view!!
Quick find. Not so easy to get too but grabbed it and learnt 4 swaps als there was only a teabag there.

In town today for the the Bella 10km walk tomorrow as part of the Oscars to Hut. Had fun finding a few caches on our wander round. Thanks for the placing this here
I found the best approach today was just to wander around on foot.
After fortifying myself with coffee this was my next immediate goal.
Lovely to see such sturdy containers up here.
Great views too.

Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.
**Thanks to gmj3191 for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

Day One.
My son and I New Year trip turn into drive into NSW and beyond. Today was more about driving. I found 9 today with few DNF. Oh well they do happen.
The breakdown was a mystery, community event, traditional, multi and adventure lab.
Day Two.
We carry on heading south down Newell highway grabbing more caches. Stopping for old and some new virtual, plus more non traditional for a challenge. Unfortunately some of those prove hard to find.
I had lots of fun doing earthcache they brought us to some wonderful places.
I found 26 today the breakdown was 3 virtual, 3 earthcache, 5 traditional and 3 adventure labs with 15 waypoints.
Day 3
Heading towards Mt Buller
After early start we started grabbing caches along the Newell highway to get more LGA cover.
I found 28 today with a lot of driving. The breakdown is 6 traditional, 9 virtual, (most I found in a day) 2 mystery, earthcache plus 2 adventure lab with 10 waypoints.
Day 4
Back up the mountain to finish of what I started. I was 5 later yesterday to get the photos.
After that I grab more caches around the Mt Buller Village. Plus I found one old traditional, it is in the oldest 5.
With finds total was 12. The breakdown is 5 traditional, 5 virtual, multi and at not least a webcam.(finally).
After we finished on the mountain we started to head to Canberra.
My son and I had lots and fun today.
Thank you CO for your hides and the maintenance you do. For us to find
Sorry for the generic log.

I don’t understand what’s going on? It December and there’s snow falling on Mt Buller. We came prepared for the cool, but not for this level of COLD
But the Green Geckos & I are here for a very short window, we will be moving as fast as we can to keep warm as we go. This one was alright to find as the GPS was fine. Our name are in the log & that’s what counts until I can find 2 bottles of Rum & a fireplace.

Muggle65 and l are dying from the cold up here. We are coated with snow and really want to retreat to our nice warm vehicle. Thank you for the fun
A trip to check out all the awesome places in eastern Victoria. TFTC.
Great sized cache. Hard to keep out of sight.

A relatively warm, calm day around Mount Buller, not too many people about, probably due to the rather unprecedented weather across Victoria in recent weeks. What a fascinating history of APIRA. A nice quick find and another shared PathTag - thanks for sharing.
Thanks to gmj3191 for adding this cache to the gameboard.

Sat by this tree for a while and watched lots of skiers doing the trail, had a ball and enjoyed the sit. TFTC everything in perfect order - will log pathtag
Apologies if this logs twice - found while out watching a few skiers do the trail in front - spectacular spot to chill and just enjoy the day. Photo is of the mogul run a short stroll up the track, nope didn’t try that, did get to watch a world class tournament last night there and had to have a look at what they stand up to!!!

Could not find after long search. Lots of rocks look like they have been moved or fallen. Needs to be checked
Walk around the village in the morning sun. Unfortunately despite the specific clue tbis one eluded me. May well be missing. I searched around every rock there.
On our up to Mt Buller to do the webcam, picking up a few caches along the way. Stamped log and replaced. Thanks to CO.
TFTC,
Camping at Sheepyard Flats for a few days with friends from Melbourne.
Heading up to Mount Buller to get the Web Cam cache today.
Picked up this while walking around town.

After a couple of DNF's and a slightly redundant hint we found this cache. We were not confident but happy nonetheless to log another find in the mountain.
Thanks gmj3191
I had been set to attend another Victorian Mega but the damn pandemic began and for obvious reasons one was cancelled and one was postponed. I was pleased the postponed Wangaratta event went ahead but have to admit I was still apprehensive about the COVID situation. Although attending all events, (except 1 of the CITOs) keeping distance was still a priority. I had a great time touring with 1TOOLMAN and Budgietas although there was an empty void where SSR should have been.
As well as Wangaratta, we visited The Paps, Mt Buller, Benalla, Glenrowan, Winton and even popped in to Lex country, having dinner at Brady’s Railway Hotel. Our find numbers were low but our laugh count was high so I call that a win!

With the Mega in Wang in our sights and gps locked in we detoured a little to Buller.
This was a quick find with the Goose and Budgie.
I have been here multiple times but in NO CONDITION at all to worry about a cache as i was Either training/competing/recovering for/from the 100km HUT2HUT charity adventure race. I was fighting death
This is such an amazing spot.
Just stunning. ️️

We wander down to this cache hearing from the toolman about the hut. The cache was not as per the hint but easily found (it was slightly down from the hint location). Just cache creep!

The Mega in Victoria I had always planned to attend, but due to covid changes I was concerned, I wouldn’t be able to due to work commitments. As these commitments cleared up, I planned to go over and catch up with GoosenEgg, Stainless Steel Rat, and 1Toolman while in Wangaratta for a day caching to attempt to find 100 in one day. As things turned out Stainless Steel Rat was unable to go, so I was invited to join GoosenEgg and 1Toolman for the entire period. 1Toolman collected us from the airport and we immediately drove to Victoria’s 1st Geocache. From there during the 4 days, we visited Wangaratta, Mt Buller, Albury, Wodonga, Benella, Glenrowan, and Beechworth (although we didn’t make the bakery much to 1Toolmans disgust)
The trip was less about numbers and more about visiting places that I had only driven through before. We did manage to complete the Ned Kelly Helmet series and find a great Earthcache at Murmungee Lookout and another cache at “The Paps” which gave tremendous views of the area. The GPS maze, which I must say was one of the greatest attractions was also attended as with another cacher I was first through on the Saturday Morning at 8.15. It was great to get this icon on my profile.
Of the trip, it was certainly hot and humid, but we really didn’t get rained on in any serious way, with the major storm passing through at night time, otherwise it was just hot or very hot depending on the time of the day.

This is the first day of real freedom for so many, who have been in lock down. We have been more free for some time but this is the first chance to run for the hills and escape a warmer day.
It was such a great day, with blue skies and very few muggles or traffic on the mount. We enjoyed the walks and making some great finds, with only 1 DNF for the day.
Found what was left of a muggled cache. Only a wet log book but no container. Tried to dry out the book a bit, stamped log and replaced the container and rehid it, under some rocks, as per hint.
Thanks gmj3191 for placing the cache and doing the maintenance, so we can enjoy the find.

Thanks for this cache. Had to check the hints to find it, but it was worth it. The view was quite foggy though today.
Out for the day up at Mt Buller, this was a quick and easy find compared to the others of the day. Read hint, found cache, retrieved, signed and replaced. TFTC
Headed up this way after Christmas and needed to get outside. After doing a bit of a gnome hunt with the girls we headed back to the car which was parked just up from this cache, couldn't let that go to waste. Thanks for the cache and the history.
Just found your cache after stumbling into another random one, I think this will become a new hobby while out in the 4x4
A quick find with gwd.aussie. Cloud cover hid much of the view but still an enjoyable day at Mount Buller.
Thanks gmj3191

Thanks for the history of this location.

Disabled for the duration of the Covid-19 crisis.
Although exercise is ok, beaches, parks etc are gradually being closed, and we are being asked to stay home.
The possibility to transmit the virus by surface contact exists, so why take chances?
At the end of the day, geocaching is a game, and we are dealing with a serious Public Health issue.
We need to get our priorities in order.
I believe the responsible thing is to disable all my caches, until the crisis passes.
Thanks.

After logging the webcam I decided to use my limited time on the mountain to search out and find a couple of gmj3191 caches.
A quick find after spotting my second snake of the day!
Dropped off a TB as I know this cache is frequently visited despite it's remote location.
