Thats a nice little town here. But what is so special about this kind of dog? The cache itself was also a bit strange. No cabbage to be found anywhere close. Even tho we did not find the cabagge we did find the cache itself. Tftc

Easy find.A bit damp.No pencil.

22-Jul-23
Found it!

Log sheet looked like it had been wet at some point and fell apart when I tried to unravel, didn’t have any paper in the car unfortunately. Our best friend enjoyed investigating the trees around GZ and leaving a note on the doggy hotline

It’s my birthday soon so instead of having a fancy dinner we decided to do a weekend away camping. I said I was happy with the cold just no rain so up north from Palmy we went chasing better weather. Geewiz is it cold!

Delightful rest area! I saw a couple of things that might have matched the hint (including the green picnic table!) but in the end it was obvious. Log nice and dry in its double housing but my pencil didn't make much of an impression and I didn't want to rip paper. TFTC

Thanks for the cache. Love Wallacefam.

04-Jan-23
With the Geotour coming to and end soon Yvettetb and I decided to go on a road trip to collect Tahi and Rua. Of course I had some puzzles at various places to collect and a few special types were added to the list too.

This was our 4th day. We'd stayed in Taihape last night and todays plan was to get closer to Palmerston North collecting my unfound SHIELD puzzles on the way. We eventually made it to Fielding after a sucessful day.

I noticed this statue as we drove into town. Glad there was a cache here. We've just bought a huntaway pup as a pet for my daughter. She loves taking him for walks down the farm. He was scared of cows at first but is getting more used to them. Thanks for your cache Smile

Pulled into the rest area then checked the cache radar and what do you know a nearby cache. A few muggles about but their busy doing muggle things too busy to notice the weird person walking back and forth looking at their gps. A fairly quick find there’s only one cabbagey looking thing I could see in the near vicinity. TFTC

14-Nov-22
Up from Southland with muggly hubby to revisit some old haunts and discover new places. Taking a leisurely trip and the caching goal is to complete PWGT2.
This is Day 1 on the road. Aiming for Mangaweka.
Having picnicked nearby I realised that here was a stage of the PWGT and also a trad. It would have been rude not to coect the smilie so I did.
Plenty of hunt aways in Southland so good to visit their origin.
Thanks for the cache tmann421

Driving to Taupo for the weekend and made a couple of stops on the way. I think there were originally two cabbage trees there and one has been uprooted. After searching the one left we widened it and it was found under the uprooted one. I hid it back as best as I could. TFTC.

30-Dec-21
Heading to Taihape for the night and stopped here for a coffee break. I knew there was a cache nearby for which I’d had a very fleeting look previously, but at that stage there were too many nearby muggles to warrant a “hands and knees” search. Hardly anyone nearby today. Managed to locate it reasonably quickly! #3390. TFTC.

06-Nov-20
I am roadtripping up to Auckland this weekend for a mates 50th birthday, and have broken my journey up a bit by stopping for a few caches along the way (as you do lol!).

Hunterville is one of those places that I have driven through countless times but never really spent much time at, apart from letting my lad play on the dog statue when he was a nipper. One of the bonuses of caching is that it makes you look at places differently, so I was happy to make this one of my stops today.

A quick and easy find here today is the obvious location as per the Hint. There was a family taking a break nearby but managed to take the cache over to the nearby seating to sign the log etc before replacing it all as found and then getting back on my way again.

Thanks for placing this cache.

06-Oct-20

We were on a trip from home in Upper Hutt to Whanganui, but had decided to detour to buy some plants from a plant nursery a bit to the north of Hunterville. After getting the plants we passed through Hunterville for the second time in the day and stopped in the park for the rest rooms and a little Geocaching. After first finding the cache by the sheep statues in town we headed back towards Barnaby past the dog statue to look for this one. It seemed very appropriate: I can't recall ever having actually spotted the dog statue before (just as I'd never seen the sheep), but it makes sense that Hunterville should have one. There were muggles picnicing at the shelter all the time since we'd parked earlier, but magically they moved off just as we walked towards GZ and I had the field to myself for the time it took to locate the cache, sign the log and replace the cache.
Thanks for this cache tmann421, and for keeping it well maintained.
