Google wanted to take us a weird way here from Lock 8 but in the end we decided to go out the way we entered and continue along the Old Mail track. The track had deteriorated a lot from the other side Ned’s Corner Station but the Landcruiser held her own.
Thanks Jardry for the placement.

Have had a great time travelling along the Old Mail Road. Hoping to come back and look around the area some more, in daylight, lol. Cache was located nice and quickly, signed, and returned to its hide. Thanks for the cache.
We are all enjoying travelling along the Old Mail Road. Hoping to come back again in the daylight and have a better look around. Thanks for the cache.

After making it all the way to McCabes Corner family Perpetuallylost were making their way back down the Old Mail Road to explore the NP a bit further and pick up some more caches off the beaten track.
Another quick find. The road conditions were not quite as good along here compared to the Western stretch but fortunately still firm and dry. Thx Jardry CIGC TNLNSL TFTC.

Out for a short but busy holiday with sir_spectre. Today it was going to be hot, really hot so we started early and after hitting our target cache tried to only get park and grabs.
Thanks Jardry

Day 2 Monash B and B
Found with mogni. It's 45 degrees today so it was a early start ( 530 out of bed ) and then headed out to the nearby virtual before the heat came in. Now we are heading along the mail trail, clearing to top part of murray sunset national park out. quick find.
Myself and mogni came up to the river land to go to MacCabe Corner and find the virtual there plus drive the mail trail in murray sunset national park plus the 4 x 4 track in cooltong national park. The original idea was to go through to mildura but with weather 37, 45 , 37 degrees fore cast we changed plans and stayed in monash instead. Any caches that where found damaged where replaced and any logbooks found full or with 2 or 3 spaces left where replaced.

Time to head home to Adelaide for the Christmas / New Year's holidays [^] and some much needed R&R [|)][^] with family and friends![:X][^]
Rex and I left late Friday afternoon and then slept in the bush Friday night [^] before arriving at home at 7pm Saturday, having a much needed [xx(] and quick shower and change [^] and then arrived at my FAVOURITE food place, [:X] Asian Central [:X], at the newer Gawler Mill premises at 8pm for an [:X] AWESOME [:X] tea with Marcus. We then bought more for Sunday's meals [^] Even had hugs from the lovely Maria [:X] who is the hostess extraordinaire! [^] If you ever get to SA, and love Asian food, you need to try this place! [^]
Over the trip only 13 caches were found as it was high 40's on Friday [xx(], still hot all night even on the bank of the Murray River at the Murrumbidgee junction and then pretty similar temperature for most of Saturday [xx(] so staying in Harry's cool insides was a better option than getting out! [^][^]
Spent heaps of time on bush tracks which I love doing [:X]
I managed to finish the last few caches on the Old Mail Road too, so that made me smile
A great trip in many ways [^]
Stunning sight: a huge old tree amongst the flatness
Cache found easily even with my short stature

Found today on a caching adventure out from our house sit in Mildura. We crossed borders, went to 3 states in one day and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
This one was a nice quick find as we raced the gathering evening and rain front towards our house sit in Mildura.
While Mrs Juc made artistic sunset photos with this interesting old tree, I fossicked in the shadows for the cache. A quick find and sign and then off we went, as the darkness and rain clouds gathered.
Thanks for this one Jardry

What an amazing tree! On our way to Renmark taking the mail track. Sadly the container was laying on the ground in the open broken at gz. We have replaced it with a new one, added a swap and popped it in what looks to be it’s hiding spot. TFTC
Quick easy find. Out with the geo family for the day. Wild life spotting thus far: Emu 1, Roos 3, Blue tongue lizards 10, Goanna 1. So much to be seen. TFTC
*cache container has a large crack in the side and needs attention*

Have just come across some finds that we haven't logged, sorry about the delay. This trip was a camping and kayaking break which ended with a mad pack-up and dash for solid ground as the rain closed in. TFTC
Found It!
This road does seem to be lacking in trees - even parts of the Nullarbor plain have more trees! This was a nice old tree though!

Had leap day off and needed to fill that one last day on the calendar.
Closest event for the day was in Mildura, and I'm in the riverland, so
the old mail road it was...
A very impressive tree. On a great back road.

Decided to take the mini-Greeno's on a road trip along the Old Mail Road. Saw lots of wildlife - fortunately no snakes! Thanks for the cache's along this stretch!

Adelaide trip September 2015. I spend five days driving to Adelaide taking some more remote routes across the river land area and exploring new places along the way. Day 2. Today was the day to head along the rivers from Balranald to Lock 8 via Mildura and the old mail route caches. Plenty of signs of wet roads, but all dried out now. Some mazing country along the way.
Thanks.

I thought of Tom Cruise here. I know he didn't but I still thought he would have loved this drive.
Thanks to Jardry and clear skies from TeamAstro.

our last visit but can now put our name
in the log at last.

I picked this cache up at 1:01pm. As I was driving along, I was pretty sure I knew where the cache was going to be. Yep I was right, there isn't a lot else out there. Thanks for the cache Jardry.
It was road trip time!! After hosting the 2013 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards, it was time for me to hit the road and actually get some caches. The main reason for this road trip is to collect a cache on every page of the UBD index for the Victoria Country Road Atlas Challenge (GCY98X). The top left hand corner of Victoria is looking really empty, so hopefully this is something I can sort out on this trip

A great drive today and many Emu running about with their skirts flapping! This old tree certainly is a beauty and we quickly made the find and picked up The TB. Container and contents all looking good. TFTC
By this time we were liking the trip – I must say we had a good trip – not wet & has been graded sometime in the past – left our Travel bug to start its journey – picked up TB’s at Mega event at Easter so this trip were starting the journeys of them. A favourite today, TFTC / TFTH / SL
The trip is nearing the end so we let geo son try for this one on his own as he had just voiced his opinion that he no longer was having a fun time coz his big sister had been finding them all ALLDAY!!
He practically had his hand on it and still didn't claim his victory, after a little coaching he triumphed. Yay. TFTC.

Decided to put the van through it's paces and see if it was as good as the salesperson said - definitely yes, it travelled this road wonderfully - now we have a lot more confidence in going along the beaten track - up to a point.
Enjoyed the caches we found along this lonely, but beautiful road

This fantastic old tree is an icon for this area, my better half is going to find out the species and I will edit this log when known
Found it as we drove along the Old Mail Route Track - thanks to "ware to now 4WD adventure group" for the lift
Another easy find by Mark's Mum. She was on fire today. We were surprised to find $5 in the cache and so Mary looked for an equal value swap. TFTC.
Road in great condition on way to cache 9/16 for today. Geopop found the cache safe and well. Interesting to see that noone has been to this cache in almost a year. Now that the water has receeded the road is dry and ready for visitors. We took "If"'s geocoin and put in another cache later in the day. Unsure how to log coin.
Still heading east along the Old Mail Route and about 3 kilometres out I could see the tree on the horizon [:o]
After a bumpy ride along a track still dotted with muddy sections I arrived
Now that is what I call a gnarled tree.
A true survivior in this bleak land, to be sure ! [^]
The tree was hanging onto the cache well
But it let me have it for a couple of minutes while I signed the logbook.
TFTC.
I left "Mallee Spider" geocoin to begin it's travels.

My first thought on approaching this tree was what a good load of firewood it would make.

This one was more of a did not get to than a DNF. We only ever got to within 8km of the GZ but just on dark with water across the road towing the camper trailer we decided to pull out.
Thanks anyway Jardry.

Still dodging sticky bog holes etc with having the camper trailer in tow didn't want to get stuck, would have been a great end to 2 weeks on Kangaroo Island by getting bogged in our backyard.

We pulled up next to this quite substantial tree that has seen more than it's fair share of misery. The cache was found after a short search
Thanks again Jardry

Found in the dark about 7pm. It took me a while to work out which direction to go after leaving Lock 8 via Snake Lagoon Track. After I passed over the narrow bridge I tried both directions for a while. Ended up being cut off by Potterwallkagee Creek, so backtracked to my original track choice, which after a long drive punctuated by roos brought me out to the turn off to the tree! What a magnificent specimen. Took the WW2 Mondo figurine and left Blue Duck. One to go!!! Cache #446.
Almost miss out so return back (only 2 Kms) Must be daydream hee... Wow very old tree - wonder how old the tree is??? SL. Thanks Jardry for organising the series cache and hunt.
Found by Mary & David at 1045. After the openness we've just traversed, it is great to see some trees. We wonder if the animals around here that graze on the saltbush produce meat that you only need to add pepper? Our thanks again to Jardry.
Find # 29 for the weekend
This is a lovely tree, I was hoping the track out from Lock 8 lead me here
Thanks Jardry

Nice and easy just the way we like these caches. after 1am! Great time to be out on these planes.
Travel Day for GC1TJ3B - Let's Raid the Food Bowl and the chance to grab a few caches on the way.
Decided on the Old Mail Run Road and at this stage the rain was getting heavier and the road slippery.
Not too many trees around here but it still took a while to find the right spot - it is a big tree... TFTC.
