Found with ikatiemcc. The views are amazing! The walk up was tiring but definitely worth it!
What a walk. The main lift was down for maintenance so we had to walk from a secondary lift which increased our distance to the top. The weather was very misty and a fair amount of rain. Absolute no view from the top. Is was so windy and cold on top that we only spent several minutes exposed to the elements before heading back down again. Both feeling our aching muscles today

We measured the summit as 2,224m. An awesome day out, walking from Thredbo, because using the lift is cheating. Answers sent to CO. TFTC
What a fun hike with amazing views all day! It was worth it to walk the whole Main Range Track as the views were stunning all along the way. Chatted with some nice folks up at the summit. Enjoyed a little break here before moving on. Thanks for the EarthCache! Answers have been sent.
Wow!!! I loved every minute of our hike up from Charlotte Pass. The scenery at every turn was so impressive. Makes you fall in love with Australia all over again. But nothing beats the rush of reaching the summit, does it? Climbing Kosciusko has been a bucket list activity for us for some time and it feels amazing to have acheived it. The variety of landscapes and rock formations along the way was pretty cool
Day 4 - Adelaide to GC9PNFB - Capital GeoBash Mega - Canberra ACTLB and I had a very relaxing, enjoyable walk to the top of this hill today, taking in the fresh, cool air, the warm sun when out of the breeze and the amazing views. There wasnt a cloud in the beautiful blue sky but there was a couple of fires and the smoke was trailing along the top of the distant mountains. Its hard to imagine this all gets covered in white stuff during the colder months. Now that would be a sight to see TFTC AussieCacherKeep smiling
Wow, what a great and popular spot. Thanks for setting up the EC! Answers sent.
On a road trip to attend Capital Geobash Mega and see many different sights along the way. Today we were heading to Mt Kosciuszko to attend an event and cache with 2beez. We have been here before but that was pre caching. Such a fantastic spot for this EC. Thanks AussieCacher for creating for us all to enjoy. Will send through answers asap. We are a tad tired atm. ...................................................Are you ready to nominate in the **2023 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards**? Visited it during 28-days geotrip to Australia, N.Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Am.Samoa, Fr.Polynesia with Marci, Ch. Sometimes we logged as "MT" or "Jonea" or "MTCh". Thanks for showing nice caches and places. MT-Jonea from Brno city in Czechia EU. FP
I had a back luck with traditional cache today so tried to "find" this one... Weather was very sunny and too warm for me. The height measured by my mobile phone was 2 237 m n. m.... Thanks for cache!
I made my way to the top of Mt Kosciusko and found the highest cache and as I was leaving I remembered that I need to get the answers for the Earth Cache. Back I went and got the answers. Thanks for bringing me here.Favourite point given.Answers sent to CO.
Four years ago, a Bromance team adventure to hike Australia's highest 10 peaks was cancelled after bushfires devastated the Snowy Mountains (and indeed most of the Eastern seaboard). It has taken us a long time to return - too long. With months of training and preparation completed, the time had come!Yesterday, we hiked in from Charlotte's Pass, crossing the Snowy River, visiting Blue Lake and then "bagging" the first four peaks of our Aussie bakers dozen of Australia's Highest mountains, being Mt Twynam, Tennyson Woods Knoll (Watson's Crag), Carruthers Peak and Mt Northcote. Last night, we camped on the exposed flat near Muellers Pass, enjoying a glorious alpine sunset. It was a big day yesterday (some 22.0 kms with all the side tracks and caches collected with 1050 m ascent), but I never seem to sleep well on the first night on the trail. Our Queensland blood also felt the cold, but we were well prepared. With a very big day planned today, we had a pre-dawn wake up call and set off at first light from Mueller's Pass with our daypacks for a loop around the next 5 mountains on the list. SeffnJarah and I climbed Mueller's Peak (bagging peak no 5) for the sunrise, before joining up with the rest of the team at approach to Alice Rawson Peak (peak no 6). From there, we headed back along the ridge line to Mt Townsend (peak no 7), where we encountered some brilliant granite tors. After Mt Townsend, it was a short walk to Abbotts Peak (No and then onto Mt Dufour (No 9), before returning to our camp site at Mueller's Pass for a rest.Once the crew were all fed, watered and packed up, our full overnight packs were donned and we climbed up the main range ridge, dropping our heavy overnight packs at the track junction before climbing to the top of Australia and this cache. Answers were duly recorded and photos snapped. This was a bucket list trip for me, and today was fantastic day out in the mountains - one that will live in my memory for a long time! Thanks for bringing me here, Aussie Cacher.Pete#7,652
Just after Christmas in 2019 The Bromance were scheduled to complete a 3 day hike to visit the top 10 peaks in Kosciuszko National Park. At that stage I was already in Canberra visiting relatives and about to head off to Sydney to pick up my three compatriots from the airport when word came of the bush fires erupting in the Snowy Mountains. It was not long after that the dreaded news was announced that the park had been closed, ending any hopes of completing our walk. Dejectedly we made our way back home to Queensland. Thanks to Covid, border closures, injuries and operations it has taken another 4 years for the opportunity to arise to reprise our plans. After what has seemed an eternity, I finally left Brisbane Wednesday lunchtime for the long drive down to Canberra, and reached just north of Wollongong before finding a suitable place to stop and sleep in my car overnight. Next morning I was up before sunrise to visit some local caches before continuing the remainder of the drive to Canberra airport to rendezvous with the rest of my hiking group. From there we drove to Cooma to stay overnight before heading off Friday morning to Charlotte Pass to commence our long awaited hike.As we assembled in the car park I had to pinch myself to make sure we were actually finally here. The weather gods were indeed smiling on us with sunny skies and low winds but the fly gods were perhaps too generous, with swarms of flies accompany our journey and settling on us as we hiked up to the lake (possible making our packs a kg heavier ). Our pace of progress amongst the group was varied but finally we gathered at the start of the path for the walk down to the lake. After a visit to the lookout we continued along the path to the top of the rise where we took in the breath taking views of the valleys and hills below. This was probably my favourite viewpoint of the trip, although there are certainly many contenders for that honour. We dropped our main packs a short distance away, for the foray to our first designated peak of the day - Mt Twynam. From here the next designated peak was the summit of Tenison Woods Knoll, with a resupply of water gathered on the lower slopes. Retracing our steps, we found our packs again and braced ourselves for the long, steep climb up to our next summit - Mt Carruthers. It was quite a relief to make it to the top, knowing that the hardest climbing of the day was now done. Next was a climb up to Mount Northcote before a final hike to our overnight camp site at Muellers Pass. This morning we were up before sunrise. Crookedpete and I headed up to Muellers Peak before re-joining the rest of the group at the summit of Alice Rawson Peak for a well earned rest. It was then a quick procession (quick being a relative term rather than literal) to our next 3 next designated summits - Mt Townsend, Abbot Peak and Mount Du Faur before the long climb back up to our campsite to pack up tents and re-sling our heavy packs for the march toward Mt Kosciuszko. To avoid lugging or packs any further than necessary we dropped them off at the sign at the beginning of the spur track to the summit and it felt like we were floating to the top with the reduced weight. An earlier charity walk from Charlotte Pass to the summit had just finished but even still there was still quite a crowd of people at the time and we had to wait patiently to have our photos taken to record our achievement of finally making it to Australia's highest point. While we waited we collected the required information to complete this earth cache. With celebrations complete there was no time to rest on our laurels, with three more peaks still on our to-do list. TFTC
Standing on top of Australia (and finding Australia's highest earth cache) is a bucket list item and one we can now cross off the list. The plan to walk up from Charlotte's Pass had to be scrapped when our trusty vehicle was driven off into the sunset on the back of a tow truck!. With a day to wait while plans to get home were put in place, we were determined to make the most of the day and get to the top of Australia. We were fortunate to have good weather and after riding the chairlift up, we set off on the walk. There were plenty of wild flowers and flowing mountain streams to enjoy and as we got higher, the views opened up and we were treated to veiws across the mountains in every direction.Took lots of photos to make sure we had all the required information, and sat and snacked while watching the clouds roll in. No photo could ever do justice to the amazing 360 degree view. According to the phone, we were floating in air about 1.5m above Australia! Thanks for placing this cache here.
Found by The Empire + HBoarding the chairlift, we ascended with the landscape unfolding beneath usthe alpine meadows, meandering trails, and the vibrant Thredbo River cutting through the valley. The ride offered a bird's-eye view of the picturesque surroundings, providing a preview of the terrain we were about to traverse. The air at this altitude carried a crispness, and the panoramic views were already captivating, setting the stage for the alpine adventure ahead. The decision to take the chairlift not only facilitated our ascent but also added an element of anticipation as we transitioned seamlessly from the alpine heights to the starting point of the Kosciuszko Summit Walk. The juxtaposition of a leisurely chairlift ride against the backdrop of rugged mountain terrain created a harmonious balance between accessibility and adventure. As the trail gradually gained elevation, the landscape transitioned. Rocky outcrops and twisted eucalyptus trees framed the path, creating a rugged yet enchanting terrain. Interpretive signs along the way shared insights into the unique flora and fauna adapted to the harsh alpine environment, offering a glimpse into the ecological wonders of the region.Ascending higher, Rawson Pass emergeda pivotal point where multiple trails converged. Here, the historic Seaman's Hut stood as a testament to the resilience of alpine adventurers who sought refuge in the midst of the Snowy Mountains. The pass provided a moment of respite and reflection before the final push toward the summit.Navigating this final stretch, we reveled in the realization that each step brought us closer to the pinnacle of the Australian continent. The panoramic views expanded, revealing the vastness of the Snowy Mountains and the glacial lakes below. At the summit, the metal platform marked the apex of our journey. Standing at 2,154 (according to my GPSr) above sea level, we were rewarded with unparalleled 360-degree views. The vastness of the Australian high country sprawled beneath usthe rugged peaks, glacial valleys, and the shimmering Lake Cootapatamba, a testament to the region's glacial history. The Kosciuszko Summit Walk, with its blend of alpine beauty and physical challenge, became a triumphant odyssey. As we stood atop Mount Kosciuszko, the highest point in the land Down Under, the Snowy Mountains unfolded in all their majesty, leaving an indelible imprint of the untamed beauty that defines this alpine realm. GEOJoh and I took time out of our Australias Highest 15 Peak Hike for a most appropriate geology lesson at our peak national terrain forma. At one point we were the only people present with the stormy weather which I have never experienced before. TFTC!
Plenty of people had the same idea about where they wanted to be on the first day of 2024. The weather was beautiful and scenery amazing.I guess my phone's gps was telling me I was 10 m off the ground.
Sooo windy here. - but still lots of walkers today. Ive got the answers and Ive sent them to the CO. Ill add the photo later when I have better cell reception.
Decided a while back now that I wanted to summit Kosciuszko for the first time for our 3000th find. Convinced the in-laws to watch the kidlets for a couple nights and off we went.Camped last night at Thredbo Diggings campground, up early and started our hike from Charlottes Pass. Wind was crazy all day.. however it was a nice 20 oppose to 36 back home. Still quite a lot of snow around and we had a couple small crossings, didn't do the full loop this time will attempt that another time. Lots of people about particularly after Rawsons Pass, we took our time and completed in around 8 hours. Once at the summit he did the normal thing and took logs of photos then found a bit of cover from the wind to make some lunch. We had to giggle at a few tourists reading the plaque to only just realise this was the highest point in Aus. Gathered all the required info and sent off. Certainly a tick off the bucket list and a great experience. TFTC! FP awarded.
Something special or unusual goes here:Well this is why we came here. Bucket List adventure to get to the top of Australia. With the chair lift out of action for maintenance we hiked in from Charlotte Pass Amazing journey up and great views in every direction. [^] There is a lot of work going on around the peak and the track up. Today we had to traverse 400 metres of the track still buried in the snow. But then again the forecast tomorrow is more snow, rain and a storm so looks like we picked the perfect day! Answers sent to CO and logging in anticipation they are about the mark. The Generic Bit:Both Bri and Sal are on the road for a holiday. [^] Holiday - Not a caching trip. This means if we are stopping for a rest, lunch, dinner or to see something whilst on holiday and there just happens to be a cache nearby then maybe Bri can go and try to find it. Maybe. Day8 : Thredbo - usually mean skiing in winter but spring and summer means either Mountain Biking or walking. We are into walking. And of course the walk for everyone is the walk to Mt. Kosciuszko. Today was the day we planned to do it and we had perfect weather for it. Weather fine and clear with temperatures in the teens.[^] Only problem was the chairlift / boardwalk short walk was out of service for a month. So is was the hours' drive to Charlotte Pass and the 9 km walk each way to attempt this Bucket List adventure.**SAs Leap Year Event GCA1DNA - keep the date free - 29th February 2024. - BOING*****Thanks AussieCacher for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Logs prepared and published through GSAK.
With lots of enthusiasm we headed to the highest point on the Australian mainland. After recent, early dumps of snow it made for an interesting trip with large areas of snow having turned to slippery ice.
From inside the car the weather looked great, however, outside it was windy and had a really cold bite to it. For the full story see StarsAlign's log. Thanks for the earth cache AussieCacher

With the snow ️ storm and ️ huge snow dumps earlier in the week there was plenty of snow to enjoy. However, with the warm daytime ️ temperatures, and sub-zero temperatures by night the snow trails have mostly turned to treacherous ice

The weather gods were on my side and the walk up was beautiful. Got to the top and the clear skies allowed for those gorgeous views forever.
As I don't really use my GPS anymore so I had to use the very accurate altimeter in Snapchat which indicates an altitude of 2245m (or 7368 ft for those using the old scale )

Today was the day, I was going to tell you that we found your cache, Australia’s tallest peak ️ standing at 2228m, sadly we fell short by 4km - only 224m Altitude wise!
The disappointment is bitter, but not as bitter as the cold we felt today. Having become acclimatised to the weather up north, anything below 20°C, has us reaching for a jumper.
Arriving at Thredbo, the sky was grey, but the rain appeared to be clearing, 7°C according to the car, (sort of like Summer in Melbourne really) rainbows lit up the path ahead and I was optimistic that the 13km walk was going to be incredibly scenic and satisfying despite the chilly wind.
Before the walk started I had a huge personal fear to overcome

This was a huge adventure with the threat of having to walk back to the village if they shut the lift down due to the high winds (gusting to 90kmh) but all was good in the end.

Wow, wow, wow. I made it.
This has been a long life goal of mine.
It took me 2 hours and 30 minutes to get to the top.
The weather closed in, but it was worth getting to the top.
I even got to phone my geowife from the top.
I have sent the answers to the CO and I have uploaded my photo at the Trig station

The story of our mountain journey is recounted in my log for GCNEFX: Kosciuszko Tops - the first time in almost a decade of geocaching that I've discovered that cache logs have a word limit, so I won't say it all again here.
But to sum it up (quiet, I'm pleased with myself), we had a great walk despite challenging conditions. As the photos show, the distant terrain was a bit hard to assess. I don't think I've ever stood in a cloud before. Therefore, for that question I've resorted to viewing other people's photos, hopefully the CO is happy with that.
Even though the views would surely have been beautiful, there was a peculiar beauty in the cold and wind and grey that I'm glad to have experienced. We still got to look at the nearby rocks, and the wonders of technology mean that I now know the mountain to be 2,252m high (hmm).

Out and about again, went to The top of Mt Kosciuszko with BackPAQer, - had to rely on his phone as my battery was fast running out. Turned on just for photos. Very windy - we were told it was 82km/hr with a high risk the chairlift would be closed - so tried to get up and down ASAP. At the summit it had clouded over making it a bit more difficult to answer question 2.
The iPhone had a height of 2225m AHD at GZ.
Found a variety of hides and in different areas which made for a nice day. Generally quick finds today
Thanks to all the CO’s for the hides I found.

We attended the "Jindy Jaunt" event organised by
Geocaching NSW last weekend. We walked with our friends Aries44duo from the top of the Thredbo chairlift to the summit. The summit was a 6,000 finds milestone for them and a bucketlist experience for all of us.
The summit altitude on our device was 2,230m.
All other required answers have been sent to the CO.

We were in Jindabyne to attend the "Jindy Jaunt" organised by Geocaching NSW plus we had the trek to the top of Mt Kosciuszko on our list to do.
We completed the task with our friends The Neighbs who helped celebrate our 6,000 finds milestone at the top with us. The walk from the chair lift top station to the summit was a little challenging, however we kept up.
We also enjoyed doing this EarthCache nearby.

The Saturday was a nicer day than the forecast for Sunday so FUF009, Swampgecko and I decided to do the walk to Mt Kosciuszko from the top of the chair lift. It was a windy walk up, but otherwise lovely weather. A very flash path and well used today.
Boy it was busy at the top of this hill! Standing room only.
We didn't spend too long, just enough to get our answers.
Thanks, Robmc.

Walking up the Mt with RobMc and Swampgecko.
Rob was the stronger walker and was willing to slow down for both Swampgecko and myself.
Well getting to the top of Mt kosciuszko has been on my list since 2018. But with a job loss and then Covid. It was in the back burner. But with the publication of the events in Jindabyne, and a great shove by good buddy, sharkiefan. It was back on again.
So glad I have finally done the walk and seen Australia from the highest peak. But what onto now..... hmmm think I might be back in a couple of years to do it all again.
Looking at the earth cache qns I realised how different the landscape was in different directions. Wow. Thanks for opening my eyes to this.
My GPSr had a reading of 2236m at the Trig point.

What an amazing walk to the top of Australia. It was a glorious day with plenty of people doing the walk to the summit.
At the top it got very busy very quickly so getting photos was difficult as the tourists hogged the summit.
Thanks for this great EarthCache. A worthy location to place one. Have a FP.

PS: My postcode is the same as the height of Mt Kosciusko - 2228m!

After hanging around at the Jindabyne Events by Geocaching NSW, I decided to tick off another section of by bucket list to visit all of Australia's extreme points, This time being the top of Kosciuszko.
I took the Bike track going along the main track which wasn't too bad until I got to the snowy river then the trek up to seaman's hut I had to push the bike along as that section was pretty steep!. But eventually I got to Rawson's pass dropped off the bike and found some other fellow geocachers and made the trip to the top together.
Had a look at the views found some caches, then waited in line for the magical Trig point photo. Strange how this place is so popular, but yet the south point cache I spent 3 days in the bush and didn't see a single person..
Then after all it was time to go back down the mountain, The best part!. The walk down was pretty easy, And once back at Rawson's pass, Onto the bikes and down the hill we go!.. Pretty much riding the disk brakes the whole way, I swear I could see them smoking!!!. But once I hit the snowy river and climbed up the hill on the other side the rest of the trip was at a steady pace. All in all a great day, the weather held up nicely to a good 15c without any cloud..

I planned to do this walk as my final 365th streak day, and all worked out. Started at Thredbo, and did the hard yards with my dicky knee. Such a beautiful place, and luckily for us the skies were clear, and there were even patches of snow in parts. Weird December weather. Tftc.
It was absolutely a proud moment and a great accomplishment when 喵 and I finally conquered the highest peak in mainland Australia, on the last day of 2022. The weather forecast said there would be a thunderstorm and the cable lift staff warned us that they would stop the cable lift if the weather turned bad. We were very lucky that none of these happened and the weather was perfect. Although sciatica had torture me in the past six months, I knew I had to do it and I did it successfully. Thank you AussieCacher for creating this earth cache!
Found with friends on an awesome adventure up to the top of the world (well, Australia)
Wow, what a mountain! I have had Mt Kosciuszko on my hit list for years, and had planned to do it for my 40th birthday. I am not disappointed. It was overwhelmingly perfect - the weather, the company, the views. Not a thing went wrong.
The hike up was lovely. A few hairy moments as there was still snow over the path in late December (definitely not expected) and one trip could have resulted in tragedy. Thankfully I got over the two snow drifts OK and to the summit.
After finding the traditional we sat down to work out the answers to this earth cache. We measured the height as 2222 meters. Only the day prior we were at Australia's third highest mountain, Mt Twynam, and it was raining, completely covered in snow and with low visibility. It felt like opposite seasons two days apart, as it was definitely hot and sunny here today.
Answers have been sent to the CO. Thanks for a fabulous earthcache.
Good job nature.

Hi 18/11 Lucky with the weather. A lovely sunny day to match the good views on the summit of Australia highest mountain. Pleased to have climbed it, found easy walking up from charllotte pass so on return deep a different route which was brilliant. 15 miles total, lots of snow crossing. Tftc favourite point for views
I last visited the top just after Easter 2009, a few months before this earthcache was published. We walked the main range, but had to log a DNF on the traditional at the top of Mt Kosciuszko because the weather was setting in and it limited our searching time.
Back again 13 years later, this time via the Thredbo metal highway on a glorious day with my now 15 year old daughter. The better weather made our time at the top much more comfortable and enjoyable. The traditional was easily found this time, and the answers for this earthcache were gathered and we then sat and ate a Peppermint Crisp bar that we had saved for the occasion.
Thanks for the earthcache. Photos attached and answers forwarded to CO.

We did the main range loop during this long weekend. The weather was really good. Blue sky, no wind. Perfect condition for few caches on the way !
The summit was quite busy!!! But the view ... AWESOME. Thanks to bring us there. +1 Favourite point

We couldn't ask for better weather for our hike to Mt Kosciuszko. We had blue skies and sunshine until a bit of cloud built up in the afternoon. It felt a bit surreal eating our picnic lunch on top of Australia, overlooking views in all directions. Thanks so much AussieCacher for the opportunity to log an Earthcache in such an amazing location. Answers all sent in our email. A favourite for sure.
What an amazing walk with my geobestie Azzap87! A gorgeous day, a challenging walk, a beautiful view, and a fun earth cache - best day ever! Was surprised by how crowded the summit was, but managed to snap a pic in between group photos. TFTC!
Spent the better part of the day on top of the mountain after taking the chairlift up from Thredbo and visiting the various peaks. The journey to the top was accompanied by numerous muggles doing their Australia Day visitations and the weather was perfect. There were moments when the weather looked like it was about to get nasty but quickly turned around and the sun was shining again.
We made it off the mountain and back to Thredbo just in time for the chairlifts to shut down due to storm activity.
Thanks for the cache.

Amazing place for an earth cache. I have visiting this summit so many times, prior to caching, so it was a real treat to visit the area once again (as I do most years) and to collect a few caches in the area. I've save some for next time too!
Happy to have this earth cache ticked off. Have sent the CO the Answers. TFTCM

Very nice location and soon had the answers sorted. There were a lot of other people at the summit though! Had difficulty with question 4 as so many people were standing on the top lol. Answers sent. TFTEC!
We decided to give mountain biking up to Rawson's Pass a go before the final much shorter walk to the top of Mt Kosciuszko. Once we reached the top, we did the obligatory photos, ate lunch and did the required research for this earthcache as well as the multi and then a quick search for the traditional also up here.
As we don't have a GPS device and I didn't take the time to find a suitable phone app, we have had to use my fancy Garmin watch to measure the height. Since it read 2214m at the trig point, I suspect it is less than accurate! [:p].

Walked and skied up to Mt K to make the most of the post lockdown snow. Will message answers to CO. In the meantime here is my screenshot of the GPS height. I did not go on top of the stone cairn so measured from just me standing at the base of it. Perhaps I should have put it on the ground? TFTEC.
Lovely to be up here, especially on such a glorious day. Answers emailed to cache owner. GPS reported an elevation of 2231m. TFTC.
Found on sunset before heading back down to Charlotte Pass after an epic 30 km walk along the Main Range track via Mt Townsend. Luckily awesome weather although quite cold - car said it was -2'C when we got back at 7pm.
Because it was late we ended up having the entire summit to ourselves - first time in many trips up here that's happened to me!
My GPS thought the height on top of the trig marker was 2232m, 4m higher than the 'official' figure.
Answers sent to CO; this was great fun, thanks AussieCacher!

Found on an extremely windy day 70 to 90 km winds gusting to 110kmh. Cold and overcast with snow from an early April fall still covering the ground.
Love Earth Caches and making more sense of the landscape! The planets aligned, perfect weather and opportune timing with a couple of spare days saw me here enroute to Wollongong from NE Vic - also daughter hadn’t been up here in ‘summer’ so I says how about hiking a few days. Mission accomplished and splendid views soaked up whilst remembering mad ski touring days a few decades ago! TFTC and the FUN!
Attempted at 12:05pm. #1073.
My gps gave me a reading of 2230 metres. Nothing better than reading at the top of Australia. Full log to follow.

Managed the walk to the top with ilook4geo and geologic. Great views from the top on a beautiful fine day. Gathered the answers to the questions and sent these to the CO. Happy to be ale to log the find for this top cache. Thanks go to AussieCacher for creating this earth cache.
Did this one while at the top with goingplaces2 and geologic2. Answers were gathered and sent to CO. Happy to log the find. TFTEC.
After 3 days of rain we saw a glimpse of blue sky and made a dash for the top. There we battled through wind and rain but were pretty proud to say we made it complete with 3 kids! Total whiteout at the top but meant we had the whole place to ourself. No queues for photos! Our GPS read 2227. TFTC!
Out and about with Team FATZS (Fox in Jox, AngelG27, TikvaNZ, ZQX and SpecimenX) for a trip to Jindy and Mt K.
After a fun ride from CP to RP, we trekked up to the summit and participated in a CITO. Enjoyed collecting the information and enjoyed the views. Answers sent to CO. Photo attached, standing with AngelG27. TFTC AC

Well it was a success and I did indeed make it up here! SO many people up here but so many more arrived while here but great to meet many of the Canberra groups up here too! Spectacular location, thanks for the EarthCache AussieCacher.
Trip log:
We had a plan, and it was to go to Kosciusko for an oldie and some high altitude caches, it was also to be my first visit, so I was keen. When GreyHams noticed an event was published up there this weekend the decision was made and after a lot of discussion over previous years the time had finally come to tick this one off...
Or so it should have been but my sprained ankle several days before we were to go, it was touch and go and I wasn't sure I could make the distance, but only one way to find out, with some contingency plans should they be needed.
With GreyHams it was an early start, and of course there were other Canberra cachers heading south for the weekend also, so we teamed up for a number in the morning with the newly formed 'Jindy Crew'. After a spot of Cooma caching it was out to 'The Gates' on Lake Eucumbene, a trek but a great way to pass the hot day in the cars aircon, and then the 'track' out to the cache, challenging and equally as amusing, it was a great drive in! A little caching around Buckenderra was nice scenery before meeting up with dty73 and Tankengine in Jindabyne for some more caching an event and a relaxed yummy dinner with our Canberra caching friends for the evening.
Arriving at Charlottes Pass early in the morning is the thing to do, and with so many others already there it was a busy carpark, needing to park about 1km down the road! After our warm up walk and lashings of sunscreen we started off, slow and steady and hoping the foot would make the distance. And it did! The prep was sound, the poles were my lifeline step after step and finally I got to attempt the summit.
Such a great walk, so much to see, yes, it looks all bare and rocky but its beautiful and the slow pace we set we saw all of it! So great with many other cachers up there to spend time with them too, and we spent much time walking along with them over the distance, so much conversation had the time pass quickly and enjoyably. Many thanks to GreyHams, it wasn't the main range loop walk we had planned but he got me to the summit and back! As broken as I was with that last limp to the car we still had the enthusiasm to plan the next trip.
Many thanks to the CO's for your caches, we only stopped at a few for various qualities but your cache led to a very enjoyable trip.

Went through the steps of collecting the answers and taking photos up here. I measured 2227m.
Then a quick break before we started heading back down and going over to another EC.
The hike:
DSD called to THE mointain (witht the CITO) and lots of people came. A great day out! What a nice hike/ride here today with perfect weather and all the familar faces. A big 26k effort from us (with some side trips, most of it on the bike) What a great feeling to suddently be at the highest point in Australia and to collect so many high altitude caches up here today. Big thank you to DSD for initiating this and for the cache owners up here for putting so many caches out in the area. I spend a few hours afterward to collect more caches in the area on the way home.
Thank you AussieCacher for putting the cache out.

**This Cache:**
Lovely to have an EC on top of Australia's highest peak, it wouldn't make sense not too! Enjoyed queueing up to take my photo at the trig station, and also to retrieve the required information for the questions. It was great to be the highest standing person for a minute!
Thanks AussieCacher! Answers sent via PM. My GPS was reading an elevation of 2222 metres! This was from standing at the listed coordinates of this Earthcache

DARKSIDEDAN really has some great community initiative, and provides us with many opportunities to push people out of their comfort zone, set new personal challenges, and visit parts of Australia they may not otherwise! He decided to host a CITO event on top of Mount Kosciuszko, and the turn out to such an event in such a location was really impressive! I know I wouldn't have visited this location without his initiative!
What a great day it was too! Myself and Sui left at 6am from Canberra, with the Ute Tray packed with bikes and our backpacks plenty of food and water. We didn't run out of it either and ended up with plenty left over which was great as that is always one of my big worrys!
We started off a bit bumpy with meeting places etc, but it all turned out to be ok in the end and we headed up the track from Charlottes Pass. We only managed to ride the bikes for the first 3km, before it became a little too steep for us non-powered and non-regular bike riders. So had to push them up for the next 4km!
After climbing Kosciuszko, and then detouring for several kilometres to boost our finds over 2000m, we headed back down to the car. That 4km of bike pushing was BY FAR worth it when we absolutely sped down the mountain, cleaning up all 7km of track in only about 15 minutes excluding the quick stop at Seamans Hut! It was also absolutely exhilarating and the best fun I had all day! I want to come back just to do that again!
Thanks to DSD for hosting the CITO, and for all the cache owners including day1976 for the incredible work of gaining permission to hide physical caches up here, without him today would have also not been possible! Well done to all attendees as well, with no accidents or problems it was a great day out!

Tankengine and I headed up to the Canberra Invasion happening today on top of Mt Kosciuszko. We used our ebikes to ride up to the Highest Dunny then walked the 2kms from there up to the summit. The bikes made it a quick easy ride up and DOWN. A little scary for my first downhill ride, but a little fun too. The walk was not steep and it was an amazing view from the top. We were lucky to have amazing weather and we would have loved to stay longer. I can't wait to come back again another time.

After reaching the summit and finding the traditional, we set about working out the answers for this earthcache. We battled the crowds and managed to get what we needed. Thank you!
Found with Mrwhiskers76. We made a weekend out of it as we aren’t local to the area. We trekked it from Darkes Forest to Island Bend Campground on Saturday. Had a few issues with the car over heating but sorted that out with duct tape... Up the ski lift we went and walked all the way to the top. Definitely worth the effort involved with the walk and camping as the view is spectacular. Thank you for a brilliant cache.

Out on a caching mission with TikvaNZ, Fox in Jox, SpecimenX and ZQX to get some altitude this weekend! Very excited to walk up Mount Kosciusko- my first time, and excited to get out for my first overnight caching mission in a year. But of course there are plenty of interesting caches to get along the way, and a couple of events to drop in to! Just need to keep cool while we do it, with the first really hot weather forecast this weekend.
This cache: walking up the Mt K has been on my list of must do things , and today I managed to tick it off, thanks to an event being held there by another CBR cacher and the great support of my geobuddies! Managed to sneak to the trig to get the information needed, before the large crowds started lining up the for the obligatory photo. Answers sent to the CO, and photo attached! Measured height of 2230m according to the compass app on my phone...

Headed to Jindabyne for a weekend away with fitzy_1965. Our aim was to attend the CITO on top of My Koscuisko today.
We were accompanied by Joolay, isopeda, albida33, SpecimenX for the trek to the top, as well as, Aquilus1 & GreyHams for part of the way, but with many other Canberra cachers getting their by other means.
What an amazing view! Answers sent to CO. Trig photo and altitude attached.

Off we go for an over night geomission to Cooma, Jindabyne and a Mt. K climb. Top weekend of quality caching and socialising. I was part of team FATZS (Fox in Jox, AngelG27, TikvaNZ, ZQX, and me, specimenX) on signed logs to save space.
Up we go on our Mt. K geomission! Whilst Team FATZ went up on their bikes, I joined Joolay, isopeda, minnieK, fitzy_1965 and albida for the hike up. We set off from CP and made the hike along the Summit track, and so did hundreds of other people!. Absolutely amazing scenery around this immense place!
There were sooooo many people up here but it was interesting to learn and observe more of the geology and surrounds of the area. I got an elevation reading of 2235 on my GPS which is slightly higher than the official height of 2228m. Answers sent to CO and socially distanced pic of the trig attached (so many people crowding around it!)
Thanks for the hide, AussieCacher

On a caching trip with Kittykatch, Joolay, Barb2e and other cachers, including doing a CITO up here this morning. Not sure, why I didn't do this cache when I was up here two years ago.
Nice looking around at some of the detail as well as taking in the views, the wildflowers, the Ravens etc.
Answers have been sent off. Elevation on both my phone and my watch wasn't that accurate.

Thanks to DSD organising a CITO up here a group decided it was a good idea to venture up this way. The walk was harder than expected but then I did not do any training so my own fault. The reading I got from compass was 2227.662m
So pleased I got back up here and did this cache. Fav from me for the magnificent views.

23,440. Found with minniek and a whole bunch of Canberra region cachers on our trip up to the summit of Mount Kosciuszko today.
With a CITO on top of Mount Kosciuszko and a pre-meet event last night in Jindabyne, minniek and I made a last minute decision to join in on the fun. Convoyed down with a few other groups for a few caches, then went our separate ways for even more caches plus the event. Up bright and early this morning and headed out on our alpine adventure. Once we had finally reached the top and rested, we attended the CITO, grabbed the Trad, then collected the info for this amazing Earthcache, which will be forwarded to the CO soon. My GPS had me at 2227m when I was close to the Cairn.
Thanks AussieCacher !! Favourite Point for sure ! This is now at least the 2nd country where my highest find is an Earthcache. My highest ever find (so far) is the Mt. San Jacinto Earthcache near Palm Springs in the USA at 2608m. Thankfully there was a cable car up to that one !

#353 Every Australian should do this walk, not that hard and well worth the visit. Pick a good day and be prepared for any change in the weather. We had 3c at the top of the chairlift and slight breeze, sun and windier on the way and when we reached the summit clouds came and went with enough consistency to get photos from every angle. 15' after we left the summit it hailed solid for 20', only small but enough to give your ears a hammering. You never know the worth of a quality jacket until you need it, sun back out and I was dry by the time we arrived back at the chairlift. Another great cache location. TFTC
With BonEm on a Hike and bike holiday at Thredbo.
We were both very excited to visit this iconic and very special place.
The hike in was made more special by the inclement weather we experienced, with a mix of rolling clouds whiting out parts of the walk, to spitting rain and sunny spells as well.
This hike is a must do for anyone visiting the area.
Thanks Aussiecacher for the EC, we had a ton of fun.
GPS had us at 2231mtrs
Climbing Mount Kosciuszko was on our bucket list. Made the trip down from Sydney and climbed the easy way - taking the chair lift as we were not sure that our knees and ankles would hold out. Woohoo! we exceeded our expectaions and made it. It was nice to get fine weather too. All along we had been watching the weather forecasts and with rain forecast we decided to make the decision to climb only when we were at Thredbo. We also brought along our small personal TB collection and a few others from a TB Hotel close to home. (see our photographs). Thanks AussieCacher for placing this earth cache. We loved the experience.
p.s. will complete logging requirements shortly - just writing up this log, as we want to return the TBs back to the hotel.
