With Christmas approaching, my bathroom scales are quivering in fear at thought of the damage my usual Christmas excesses might bring. I have been attempting a pre-emptive strike on my waistline. So when Seffnjarah suggested we go chasing few lonely hiking type caches, I enthusiastically agreed as it seemed a good way to up the step count.I had a late night last night at a concert, so Seff was left in charge of todays cache target list. He decided that a Hinterland Hilltop tour was in order - and selected a number of the Gold Coast Hinterland's finest hills for us to climb.Having climbed our last hill nearby up to Bally Mountain Saddle, I was pretty cooked and made Seff promise for park and grabs on the way home. Except maybe just a short walk here to find this unloved multi. No problems collecting the clue and finding GZ. The container took a bit of finding in the obvious spot - it was very well buried tight against the edge of the hollow. Many thanks stevet3auPete#8,128 @ [12:19]
Found it well tucked away as the previous finder said. Thanks for the cache stevet3au
After climbing Bally mountain with Beardman75, Peppa and wayn0 we stopped in here to attempt this one. With 2 previous finders wed know for sure if it was there or not. Beardman75 did some excavating and uncover the cache.Tftc stevet3auFind #5116
Searched for ages. Pretty sure had the coordinates right and pretty obvious “cachey tree base” but could not locate cache.
looked everywhere but the GPS wouldn’t give us exact location even after we solved the puzzle
Cache is still there.
Tucked very tightly to one side and well buried, but still there and still in good condition.
Thanks for putting it there

Today, the morning consisted of a planned solo hike at Bally Mountain. An awesome yet challenging hike with great scenic views around the vicinity. I then started to make my way back north through Mudgeeraba, completing *Mudgeeraba History* Adventure Lab and grabbing a bakery lunch.
On my return back to Brisbane, I stopped at Toohey Forest Park in Nathan where I joined jesswrigley for a walk around. An enjoyable area with some nice lookouts of the mountains in the distance.
After making a stop here, I had a read of the relevant sign and gathered the two required numbers. My calculated coordinates for GZ were plausible, although after spending five minutes searching the wrong tree/area, I soon realised that I had a made a silly arithmetic error. After searching the new location, I then saw what the "cachey tree" meant. However, being in the right spot didn't exactly help to find the cache, as after having a good and detailed search around the tree base, I failed to find the geocache in question. There does look like there has been some clearing/gardening in the vicinity, so I do wonder if the cache has been taken? In any case, I will watch to see how this cache's next find goes. Thanks Stevet3au for the cache placement.

Out enjoying some socially distant caching around Mudgeeraba after surviving another lockdown thanks to the covid… a nice quick multi to end my day… found the info without issue and enjoyed the stroll into GZ…

Had to dig a little debris away. Just did the Bally Mountain walk and got this on my way home. Good reason to stop

Well, now I have discovered how it is that I have dates when I KNOW I found a cache, but my stats don't show it, and every now and then I discover a cache that we have found but hasn't been logged. I thought it was that I had forgotten to log it, but for certain I know I logged this cache yesterday when we found it, and the app even showed a smilie, even though it had lost all signs of the log that I posted. Fault with the official app, ugh!
Anyway, we did find it, and I logged it straight afterwards, while sitting in our comfy chairs by the pretty gurgling creek that we found while exploring after finding the cache. It was cool and relaxing, though the mossies eventually drove us away an hour or two later.
The cache was nice and easy, a short walk and found in the obvious spot after a quick scrabble. It's hard to believe that we have left it so long despite coming to Bonogin regularly for family visits for years, and also hard to believe it is found so infrequently. We figured it was safe to leave the log out to dry for a little while as it was slightly damp, as nobody was likely to come looking for it or to disturb us, and we were right. It was a great little spot to escape the craziness of cornoavirus and society for a little while.
Thanks for the cache. We enjoyed learnbing about the cockatoos and having a quiet, cool break. Glad we decided to stop here instead of dragging ourselves up the mountain in the heat as we'd planned.

Out picking up some local caches. Quick stop for the numbers and off to the co-ords. GPS was a bit jerky with trees and cloud cover, but spotted likely spot just before it settled. Grabbed a handy bit of discarded nature and soon had the find. TFTC Stevet3au
On my way home from a day up at Springbrook with E_Smiley and picking up a few caches before sunset. This was a neat multi to do and a nice quick find for us here, lovely location to visit also.

Tried to find, without any luck. Such a beautiful place will come back with a light lunch.
Last time I was out this way the cache was MIA. I was a few Kms away today, but near enough to make the effort.
I parked near the sign and worked out the next set of numbers. Not too far away at all.
A nice quick find at GZ thanks.

This is a beautiful spot to visit, very quiet with lots of birdsong, but unfortunately no sighting of the elusive glossy black cockatoo.
Cache was an easy find, and I enjoyed following the path down to the creek and spending some time enjoying the solitude (barring the huge flock of sulphur crested cockatoos that flew overhead!). Fave point from me.
Picked up TB and will move on.

Good hiding spot, and uses the sign well.
We took the two trackables - TD72V1 & CCQB4X - and replaced it with PCYC3D & a yoyo
Thanks

I was scanning the map too choose a target for my daily find and saw that this one needed some love. Being in an obliging mood and a lover of bird song i set the coordinates in the sat nav and drove here directly.
What a wonderful little revegetation area. I could hear cock a toos in every direction but sadly only saw the boring regular white kind try as i might.
After grabbing the tequired numbers i set off, passing one heck of a fallen branch along my way...glad i wasnt here that day
At gz i spotted the likely hode quickly but didnt want to poke about there without protection, so with a nearby stick i poked untill i heard the sound i was after.
Cache is clean and safe. 2 travellers have disembarked from the GazaC express to holiday here a while.
My thanks to the cache owners for setting up this easy multi in a relaxing and (apart from birds screaming) quiet spot .

Out and about to get my daily find.
A few weeks ago when a IolantheK, teamdfl & I were in the area to hike the nearby hills for the T5 souvenir I chose not to find this cache to keep my daily streak going.
So today I headed out to look for this cache.
Before leaving home I contacted a previous finder as I wanted to make sure that I was going to be searching in the right spot as there are a few DNF logs. I also spoke the IolantheK on the day she sea4ched for this one.
My GPSr took me straight to an obvious hiding spot and after much digging I still could not find the original cache.
I also widened my search just in case. Still no luck.
I did bring a replacement cache just in case this was what I would find ( or not find).
So there is now a replacement cache at GZ.
Got to keep these old caches going. [^]
Thanks for the cache.

On my way to meet up with some friends to tackle the two nearby hill climbs, and as I was early I stopped to get this one done. No trouble getting the info I needed and crunching the numbers, and I took the short walk to GZ. However, though I scoured the area for quite a few minutes, I didn't find the cache
Am positive I had the right co-ords but searched every stump, nook and cranny on all the big trees in the vicinity but no success!! Will try again soon!!
Finally updating some logs from our family holiday. We usually take holidays with the idea that we will grab a few caches, and then end up trying to squeeze them into our schedule on the way home. This time we made some deliberate plans to do at least a cache a day, with some planned as walks, adventures or old and unloved caches.
Had a good time here today and retrieved this one with a group of excited little Eskies.

Holidaying at the coast for the week and decided to go for a drive today and find a few multis. Great family friendly cache...easy questions and no bush bashing required. The kids all took something and we left a few things. TFTC.
We searched high & low on two separate occasions for this one, but lucked out both times. We deciphered the cache clues, found what we totally thought looked like GZ, but to no avail :/ We'll keep our eye on the logs though, see if others have more luck than us, and hopefully will return with more success another time.
Great little multi! Nice new container too. Love those black cockatoos. Thanks Benn Cache.
Geo Wife and I had to pick up a purchase we had made just off Bonogin Rd so we made sure we headed down early to grab this one further out first.
This is a lovely spot out here and we were able to park in some shade for our short adventure.
We grabbed the required information, adjusted the coords and headed off for GZ.
As we got closer the location became very obvious and we marveled as this giant of the forest.
Nice hide Stevet3au we enjoyed this little adventure. TFTC SL TSLS

Relogging this under individual account, previously a member of Gaz'n'Kab account.
Called in for a look around this little spot after a stroll up that little hill up the road. Along with the small group the cache was soon in hand.
After having hauled my sorry self up nearby Mt. Bally in pursuit of another icon, there was no way I was going to drive past this one! I took the time to read the information for interest's sake and not just for the cache clues, and as a result, was the last to arrive for the hunt itself, finding the logbook already being passed around. Signed it and watched the replacement before we headed off again. TFTC, stevet3au. =^.^=
2nd find of 16 found today whilst out on a most enjoyable day with The Fangsoki one, the delightful La Kedi, agap2, Captain Terror, Team Herbz, Just-a-trifle, Ruzzelz, Gaz'n'Kab, Gunnie69, The Flynns(?) and Green Team (who sadly left us early).
After the thrill of climbing nearby Mt Bally earlier in the day, it was now down to business to clear this section of the Gold Coast map. First up, Benn Cache ... which between the few carloads took no time at all to whip through. Information discovered, the advanced calculus calculated, and the rest of us basically just followed along. Nice tree. In typical group fashion the log was quickly passed around, and then the original grabber had to be brought back to ensure a proper rehide. You know how it is[:o)].
Thanks for placing this cache, stevet3au. Found in good condition.
{Overall find #1340}

After a mighty climb up the road with a bunch of other cachers, we decided to grab these few icons on the way back out along this road, it would be rude not to right? So I arrived in the Fangsoki-mobile with the convoy already there. The quick maths was done after a read of the sign and we headed down towards the cache. A sneaky little park here and a good place to put a cache I felt. At GZ the cache was quickly found and logbook passed around. I was tasked with rehiding and made sure it was adequately covered. TFTC, a nice multi stevet2au
A group of us had just finished the Cale D climb nearby, so decided to grab a few more in the area. The simple maths was sorted quickly then we set off for GZ and was found quite quckly.
This is a great spot and and a very interesting project, thanks for showing it to me stevet3au

We couldn't find this cache. I am sure the answers were right but many be not. Will check again next time in the area.
I was heading just a little further up the road to tackle the cache on the wee hill with a group of other lunatics who like climbing them... I know, we're a special bunch...
I found the plaque at GZ and soon had the answers. Off for a short walk I spotted a likely hiding spot and on closer inspection found the cache with ease... It was semi revealed as I arrived...
I extracted the log and added my sticker. Then it was tucked away and I added some more camo. We like to keep them safe right... [^]
Cheers stevet3au

My first ever GC find and what a bonus: Krusty the Clown Pen Travel Bug!! WooHoo! ) had fun, laughed out loud when I put my hand on a spider hiding under the cache. Was a nice easy find and a lovelly little area. Took Krusty for a touristy forest drive. Took Krusty. Left bandaid & a $1 coin. (would've left something more cool, but came unprepared, sorry). Lots of cool stuff in this cache. Thanks.
I managed to convince Fangsoki to head down this road and track down these two caches.
A nice easy Multi and nice little piece of Aussie bush. The nearby stream is also worth a look.
Thanks for the cache stevet3au. I dropped of the "Krusty Circus Pen" travel bug.
Cheers.

This was an enjoyable little cache and nice area. With some information collected and sorted - we soon had some good numbers. We made our way into the bush.. I pointed out there were actually paths.. no need to crash through the forest We got to GZ and found a cache in good condition. TFTC stevet3au

Our 1st ever cache find. My daughter loved all the trinkets, she wanted the little lady bug. unfortunately did not have a swap as was unsure of sizes, types etc. live close by so we are heading back to leave our own little trinket. this park is lovely, take the time to venture down to Bonogin creek.

Well I got the right answers no trouble, and marched straight to the final GZ and only took a minute to look at the likely spots and pick the right one. Had to wait for Aussie L to make the same discovery before grabbing the partly exposed cache. We hid it under some bark so it will be safe but no signs of vandalism anywhere in the area which was green and tidy. Good area for caches. TFTC.
Don't know why it's been so long since someone has found this cache. It's along a nice drive and is an interesting cache. We enjoyed the multi today. Answered the questions and must have got them right because we came up trumps with the cache. I love the huge tree near to GZ. What an amazingly straight trunk and such small branches. It's a real beauty. Cache located in it's secure locations. TFTC. TNLNSL.
