Spending a couple of days in Canberra and grabbing some caches that have been in the to do pile. Nice cool day to be out doors enjoying fresh air.TFTC
Had a good time learning a bit more about the suburb of Gowrie while completing this puzzle, hitherto unknown to me.Cache quickly spotted and signed at GZ.TFTC!

#2868 Quite a bit of internet searching and then some figure manipulation where I had mistaken an answer or two. Finally had some suitable coordinates so dropped by for a nice quick find. Certainly a fair error with the original sign!

Out for a little caching on my four hour window for adventure! Lockdown has bought a totally different approach to caching with the introduction of homework! Much time for homework in fact. Therefore many more puzzles solved, both as a solo and collective effort. Thanks to my fellow geo buddies for assistance when needed.
And in between were a few traditionals, though not nearly as many of them left these days
Logs all in good condition unless otherwise noted.
Thanks to noikmeister for putting out and maintaining all of these caches for our enjoyment!

Picked up a group of puzzle caches in my 2 hour exercise window today. Some of the puzzle solutions were a group effort, others not, and some were completely with lots of help.
Walked for 1:5 hours over 4kms with 169m ascent/descent. Quick and easy find for all caches today. TFTC noikmeister.

I researched this at home today, learnt a whole lot, and popped by for a quick find prior to a daily exercise walk in the hills. Cache and log are in good condition - thanks, Noikmeister.

Drove around to each WP the week before while TM was at training, details easily gained. Later that night researched what was required and came up with what appeared to be the some good numbers.
Fast forward a week and while MP again at training attempted to work out the required coordinates. Sitting in the geomobile on the phone eventually had a set of coordinates but they didn't look right. A quick confirmation and recalculation and things looked better. After TM had finished his final training before his first Dan black belt grading drove the short distance to GZ. A quick uninterupted hunt and I came up with the goods, sitting slightly out of position but still well hiiden. Signed and replaced a little better it was back to the warm comforts of geomobile and the long drive home. Brrrrrr, getting cold now!! TNLNSL TFTC

Great enjoyed day with this puzzles , took me few hours around to pick answers, work out for next final, arrival little share parking short walked to GZ, easy spot and sign the log with good dry..
TFTC for great puzzles...

I was out and about with Joolay, Aquilus1 and Tankengine for a bit of caching fun.
We had some time up our sleeves so we dashed about collecting caches on the list that all of us had accumulated to pickup while in the deep South ; )
All in all it was a pleasant afternoon with da Gang. I must admit I hadn't solved some multis or puzzles that we went to, but I will/have looked at them and am impressed with the calibre of them. TFTC Noikmeister!!!

Having successfully wallowed through the drains in the morning, with dty73, joolay and Tankengine we continued on for an afternoon of south side caching... complete with our still wet and no doubt very smelly feet! Not wanting to walk to far with our wet shoes, it was just a few easy from the car caches. A good opportunity to collect a few long overdue caches in the area. Thanks for the cache Noikmeister.
I did this cache virtually ages ago, was happy with the coords but just havent got around to picking it up.
Now I am driving past here every few days at least for the next few months I will aim to pick at least one up every time.

**This Cache:**
I quite like the theme of this cache and think it is quite hilarious how they messed up! A street sign is something you don't usually see spelling errors on! Shame they have covered up their silly mistakes, but glad this cache is still active to keep the history alive otherwise I would have never known the story! A good piece of history kept here.
Thanks, quick find using the new amendment

**Today:**
Went for a morning adventure today to pick up lots of traditionals, puzzles and multi's around Fadden. Have slowly been working on a few of the multi's in the area, grabbing waypoints when I am in the area and also slowly gathering up lots of the puzzles around here that have a huge contribution on Canberra's high puzzle count! Lots of walking done on the hills on this beautiful Sunday morning, and was finishing up by lunch time after about 5 hours before the heat of the day really kicked in!

Loci612 and I headed out to grab some of the puzzles plus multi caches that we had been working on for the last few weeks. This cache was one on our list to pick up. Thanks for placing and looking after the cache. We had fun finding it today. I signed the cache darksidedan or darkside or dsd

Caching south side this afternoon. I started his a few weeks ago. Did the field work, but must have made a mistake given the resuting "GZ". Once at home, I rechecked my answers, and got better co-ordinates. A quick find this afternoon. TFTC.

Yay! Another puzzle solved. Did the research yesterday and made a quick find today. I found the research very interesting. Thanks for the cache. Signed CBR945.
I enjoy drive around to area....working out for while then finally right coords then zoom to finally found .. Good enjoy myself... Thanks
I enjoyed walk . Am catching up on caches solved and found. I enjoyed doing this puzzle. Signed the log. TFTC Noikmeister
Found today after a little help from the CO. Beaut puzzle and so interesting doing the research. Container in good condition. TFTC
We had this one on the 'half-solved' list for some many months.
Just a couple of days ago, when we knew we would be in this area again, we decided to make a concerted effort to sort the puzzle. Some of our numbers just didn't seem to work. A message and quick response back from the CO, showed us a couple of places we'd tripped up in our calculations, so it was another session of further reading, which soon had a set of coordinates revealed. It also helped to stick to BODMASS!
With a correct set of coordinates in hand, we parked close by, and made a quick trip to GZ. The cache was soon in hand and signed, before we then headed off for some hard yakka on the nearby hills.
Thanks noikmeister,
Domsky

F(H)ound It! No.1146 - @9:23:00 AM
That was an interesting puzzle. I did all my research from the comfort of my sofa, fighting with the RP for the best cushion. Looking at the map I thought this one was in somebody's backyard but it all became clear when I arrived at GZ. I did the old just-stopped-to-tie-up-my-shoelaces trick and it worked a treat . Thanks for the cache, noikmeister

Did the research (virtually) and came up with a suitable set of coordinates. Arriving at GZ we thought we may have missed something as we had assumed the type of hide and coords had us 9m in someone's garden. Luckily Pagan had his caching eyes on today and while Loki was rambling on about this and that, he went about retrieving the cache . No worries in the end. Thanks noikmeister
After a bit of research I soon had all the information for the find but the the co-ordinates did not equal the check sum. As I was so sure I had the correct answer I e-mailed the CO who advised of one small problem where one of the answers to the question may be read differently.
After redoing the calculations and using the only two possible answers to one of the questions the check sums still came up with a no go. [:(!][:(!]
I accordingly redid my calculations for the check sum about 5 times each time still no go for the Southings [:(!][:(!] [:(!][:(!], had an idea, do the check sum for the Eastings, Hmmmm how come these work out correct. Of course it is quite simple 1+1 does not = 3. Fair dinkum a primary school student in grade 2 could have picked out my mistake in adding up. [:(!][:(!] [:(!][:(!],
To-day headed out and a quick find. I enjoyed reading about all the VC recipents. A favorite for me. TFTC Noikmeister.

Another puzzle on my solved unfound list. The coordinates I had worked out aligned with the checksum however left me in an open field. Hmm something is not right here. I decided to contact a caching buddy to see where I messed up, corrections were worked out and it was off again I went to the CORRECT GZ this time.
Love reading up on all the war heroes who fought for our freedom. Cache located, signed and returned.
Thanks for the puzzle and cache placement Noikmeister

Last cache of the day after collecting another couple after the social event at lunchtime. This one was technically on the way home - around a few corners and curves Nice easy find at the GZ - cache is in good nick, even after almost being unloved (only two days short I think)! TNLNSL.
The puzzle did take me a bit of time, as I was using an incorrect source - the CO kindly pointed my many errors and suggested I try again:-) Note to self - check the hint if I am in trouble! After taking good note of the hint, the numbers fell out perfectly and the GZ pinpointed.
It was an interesting cache to complete - not the sort of research I would do on my own, but happy to have learned something on the way. Thanks Noikmeister!

Last Monday, I went to the geocaching puzzle night event. I'm motivated to solve and collect some puzzle caches. I'm also having a lazy day, but I've got to go to the shops, So I decided to collect this one, which Knightech and I had solved months ago (with difficulty).
The cache is still there, and fine. Thanks, Noikmeister. It was good to meet you the other night!!

After finding another cache in the area I decided to head home. We passed by this one and decided to grab it as it was nice and quick. I had solved the puzzle a while back. A very quick find at GZ. Log signed and replaced. TFTC noikmeister!
592 (219) Quick find after having a bit of trouble with C during the research phase. Tks Noikmeister!
This appears to have either gone missing or the last finder didn't put it back right. Taking offline until I can investigate.
Nice exercise, good to know a little more about the people our streets are named after. Researched a while ago, picked up on a sunny Sunday arvo out and about with Binni* - thanks for this one noikmeister
It is interesting how there are many areas of Canberra which have street names based on a theme. The names of Australian Military Personnel certainly give this area a uniqueness. We obtained the required information from online before we left for this trip north. Todat we went to GZ and were able to make a quick find. the cache and it's contents were in good condition. Thanks for an interesting puzzle Noikmeister and thanks for the cache.
#1135 - 13:00; Solved this one a few weeks back and had to head to Tuggeranong to pick up the geoteen after a weekend away with friends. Made a slight detour to make the grab on this cache, which helps the ratio of non-traditional finds. Found a park close by and without unwanted attention was able to retrieve, sign and replace unmolested. TFTC noikmeister
Day 148; cache 148. though we had solved this one a while back today seem the perfect day to get it! TFTC!
2013: 148 Days In A Row - Our research wasn't coming up with good numbers for this cache. Fraggles and I were on different computers researching the same clues at the same time, and we seemed to keep coming up with different answers. Tried a couple of variations, and we were close, but using maps, partial coords, and a photo, we came up with our answer. And thankfully it was spot on!!! Thanks for the cache and interesting research.
The research for this was very frustrating, as some of the clues were ambiguous. After a few hours and many reworks, the final co-ords were calculated. An easy find in the end, but forgot to bring a pen to sign! TFTC!
the_proton did the hard yakka on this one with the research. Found today while catching a few caches we'd been meaning to get to for a while. TFTC.
My research gave incorrect coordinates the first couple of goes, but with a bit of intuition and guesses at which parts could be wrong I soon had some pretty likely GZ coordinates which were saved away. Having done the research a few months ago we were nearby today and had to grab this one.
Parked on a side road and a short 50m walk had us at GZ in no time, picked out the cache and signed the log. Thanks for the cache, and the amazing stories found in the research noikmeister.

Had difficulty with the puzzle because I kept missing one thing, after noticing it, it came out nicely. Found quickly, thanks.
Out on a puzzle run today trying to pick up some solved puzzles from our to do list.....this was a quick stop and grab on this busy road...

Finally got around to locating this one having solved it back in June 2010! I enjoyed doing the research and remember seeing the erroneous signs!
Thanks Noikmeister!

Living in Fadden most of my life, I knew the sign this referred to. When I was younger and asked my mother about the reason behind the red section of the street signs, I ended up finding out a bit about them. Great to get some more info about the history of heros. The sign you were talking about got nicked, I saw them taking it after a late night trip to goodberries. Good on them I say, I would have nicked it myself if I had have thought of it, good on ya TAMS for getting the sign wrong. A great cache with some great information!
Thanks a lot!
Thanks a lot!
Interesting reseach. Parked in a nearby street and made a dash for the cache. Once at the GZ, played it calm and signed the log. Not much happens here on a wet Sunday morning. TFTC #39

For some reason I busted way to many brain cells on this one... I agree with the logic that it is best to leave this one up.. TFTC
good research to find it, thanks again NorkMeister. Easily scabbed it in broad daylight without any muggles around. Signed and returned.

AH HAH!
I've had too many issues with this one. When i say issues, i mean, i suck at maths. Really. :S
But, i found the research into this one very intresting
After finally getting an answer that landed me somewhere on bugen ...i mean bugden avenue, it was a matter of time, to finally getting around to grabbing this one!
Muggle friends live nearby, so this was going to be hard, no matter what i do.
Hey, they've gone interstate for the weekend. I can do this. Just a matter of time..and stealth..and patience.
After finally finding a place to park, it was a nice and easy find, grab, run away to car, sign, and then to replace..ooh, look at that. Out of NOWHERE about 6 cars and 1 bus came by, had to wait around for what felt like ages (in reality, not even a minute?) before i could replace it, and run away.

Instead of logging more caches this morning I revisited some of the VC stories, WOW what they did or do still blows me away. Of all the puzzels we did down here this one stands out for what I have learnt. They gave so much for so little. This is a must do cache for anyone even if you don't find cache what you will get out of it far out does the smiley.
JABs.

There was some interesting and educational reading done while sourcing the answers for this one and goes to show how gutsy and unselfish our Defence Force Personal were/are. Made a quick find when we pulled up at GZ .
Thanks Norkmeister for putting the effort into get this one together. A cache well work doing.

Finding out the answers was fun and interesting even though a few wrong turns. The cache was very easy to find. The clue really helped. Cool hiding spot and puzzle. A few muggles around but ok. TFTC.
I made an attempt at the research for this a year or more ago but ended up trying to divide by zero. The workings were put aside into the "check later" pile and eventually consigned to the "forgotten about it" list. As I was in a puzzle mood and actually had a bit of time on my hands over Christmas this was re-checked and I note the new format. The research was completed and appeared correct, making the checksums work (although I double checked with the owner because for the life of me I couldn't find the formula to plug them into!) Ohhh....click on the hidden waypoints....right....NOW I see it! D'oh!
Was in the vacinity this afternoon so a quick drive-by and the cache was in hand, signed and returned in less than a minute. TFTC.

Early morning start for me today so I could begin visiting waypoints around town. It wasn't long before I had coords but I had to wait for a few muggles to catch their bus. I waited and waited but after 10 minutes nothing, so I drove off to check on another cache and when I came back the coast was clear.
An interesting mystery/multi and a good way to start my day.
Thanks,

GeoTeen wanted a driving lesson and I wanted to collect a few puzzles caches that I had solved recently so it was a match made in heaven! It was nice to be chauffeur driven for once. I enjoyed the research for this cache although it did take me a while to find relevant sites to fill in the blanks. Finally though we took a seat to ponder it all and signed log. Fresh log book so claiming first to find at new location if that's not too cheeky . TFTC and the education
I've just noticed that the cache is missing and so, in fact, is the whole reason for its existence. Not sure if they are fixing up their error or is it has just been souvenired. I'll have to leave this a couple of weeks and see what happens at GZ.
I've often looked at the names of the streets here and realised they commemorated brave men. Interesting and very moving to read their stories. Thanks Norkmeister for the interesting research task. The cache was obvious at GZ - lucky we came as a family. While I could see it, reaching it may have been another matter!

I worked though the research a few nights ago, but the result didn't seem to make sense. After reading the clues and scouring alternate sources of information, I was confident in most of the answers, but the result still didn't quite make sense (and it was after midnight [|)] ). So out came the spreadsheet (arithmetic and I don't get on well when I'm getting sleepy) and with only a small tweak to one of the results I had a sensible answer.
Dropped past this evening at dusk and saw the cache from the car exactly where I expected it to be! SL in the car and returned the cache.

I really enjoyed doing the research for this one. Of the 8 waypoints, I think there was only one that I hadn't actually been to the location of each of these heroic deeds.

Thanks for this! It was interesting reading up on the soldiers, and the cache was easy to find. Getting it in hand was an ordeal though! And oh so many muggles.
For caches like this I rather like trusting sources like the War Memorial rather than wikipedia, but I suppose either would work. Had cache spotted easily on the drive-by, GUIO giggling like a little girl in the car while I tried to make the retrieval - gosh that magnet is strong! TFTC, and a well worth look at military history.
I was not giggling like a little girl.
I was just trying to giggle loud enough that RPL would know that I thought her lack of height was hilarious.
I mean she looks strong enough to remove the cache but she was struggling.

I had to be in Fadden today, so sat down this morning to solve this puzzle. My sources werent consistent with that used for the questions, which meant I had some trouble with the coordinates. I wouldnt have been able to work them out without the checksums.
Anyway, got a good set of coordinates, and after completing my other business went for the cache. No trouble once at GZ, spotted the cache immediately, retreated to the car to sign the log, and then headed around to Fadden Prison.
Cheers

Crystal warrior and I worked our way through the puzzle last week. Today was the day to go for a nice drive and find the cache, along with some others. Thanks Norkmeister!
The first VC (or very correct) log for this cache goes to Merekats (with a little coaching), but they did make a special return visit to make the connection. Full Kudos to Merekats.
For those of you who are still wondering it is not:
1: Anything to do with any information that you found in your research
2: Anything to do with the fact that the cache was listed on a significant date, this was a fluke.
It IS:
Something that is at GZ that caused me to name the cache what I named it.
For those of you who are still wondering it is not:
1: Anything to do with any information that you found in your research
2: Anything to do with the fact that the cache was listed on a significant date, this was a fluke.
It IS:
Something that is at GZ that caused me to name the cache what I named it.
Two of the answers gave me cause for concern with this cache, particularly when I realised that multiplying anything by 0 gives you 0! Fortunately I discovered my error (with only one answer) and came up with a GZ where the checksums computed, but the google earth location appeared most unlikely. Nevertheless, after mtbikeroz's comments I thought it was worth checking out & sure enough, there was the cache - my 7th & last for the day (all so much easier than the 7 caches found on Saturday!!)
TFTC & some very interesting reading/research.

#536 - Good weather for research, if not quite so good for caching, but we zipped out between showers.
We really enjoyed the research. Some of those guys were incredible. Thanks for bringing them to our attention.
Nice easy find, didn't need the GPS . TFTC

1670 - A very interesting history lesson on some amazing men here...
A favourite subject of mine - so I soon had this one solved. Ventured out for the final GZ and as Sol says - ___________ - and the cache was in hand....
Thanks for the chance to learn something new...
TNLN - TFTC !!
Cheers....

I think all the calculations were done in record time for this one. We enjoy the history of this subject so an answer was quickly found. Drove around to GZ after work and wondered where the actually hide might be. Didn't take long to find out. Obviously though mtbikeroz was there before us as I had to really __________ for the cache. .
Fun cache to complete and an interesting GZ. Thanks Norkmeister.
Extra Kudos? Bugger, didn't stay long enough to see/look.

First to find has been taken care of, but no one has earned extra Kudos. Keep looking people.
Was on the computer last night, this came through, I can solve that virtually. So I did – then GZ – now that looks very very odd using GE.
Nevermind, today I rode off to Tarago NSW on my road bike collecting 2 caches out there, then rode back to Tugg, and up to this cache. Parked bike, looked around, turned on GPS, then turned it off immediately – spied the nicely hidden cache. What an unusual spot. LOTS of interesting history for those VC people. Then rode home completing 4 caches for the day and 166.25km on the road bike, Coooeeeee, TFTC.
Extra Kudos eh??? How about a close friends maidan name is at GZ!!!!!

Chooo ooo *FTF* with OZlurker!
Saw this cache come up not far from home, and decided to give it a go! Had a problem with my maths for a bit, but then figured it out! Nice puzzle! Didn’t figure out the significance, but OZlurker did (So they get the extra kudos!).
TNLN, thanks Norkmeister

Whoo hoo - First FTF (thanks TankEngine for the shared glory). Had some difficulty with the maths (nothing new, just ask all my maths teachers ), but decided to give it ago given the significance of the day. TNLN TFTC.
Was keen to give this one a go as it was placed by a good friend of mine. Was hoping to be FTF but damn you tank engine (only kidding), you were so quick.
Got the kiddies to bed tonight and then onto the puzzle around nine with the assistance of my wife. cool she’s starting to take an interest in this caching stuff too.
My initial results didn’t add up and was lucky enough that a friend popped past to drop back something he loaned and was able to double check. Same answer. OK time to plug the details into excel for a cross check. Same answer. Must be something wrong with one of the answers. Time to recheck the research. There were several options then one stuck out. Quick change back into excel and yippee, that’s got to be it. It all makes sense now.
Quick check online to see if I’m still on track for that FTF..... bummer beaten to it, well could still be STF.
10:30pm Quick drive, parked around the corner not wanting to be spotted. Cache easily spotted at GZ. Signed the log and TTF oh well.
Thanks Norkmeister for the cache, learnt a bit about VC’s at the same time.
Off to bed now.
