Glad I attended this great event... lots of wonderful people to meet and talk to. Lovely location to boot....
I think I forgot to say that I will be there... nearly got the chance to attend the Melbourne WWFM instead.
We'll be on our way soon. Can't find the GPSr but I'm sure we'll find a crowd eventually. I'd say if you see someone standing there looking lost, say Hi. But isn't that the purpose of this particular exercise?
Well that was fun. Not sure too many other people noticed but a good numbers of cachers turned up.
Bee3 was very envious of Mr & Mrs L&LJ mode of transport.
Thanks for organising ghostgums

We swung by for our first Flash Mob event. Quite pleased no actual flashing was involved. Thanks for organising a visit to this very pleasant part of the world.
Thought I had better correct my earlier visit (must of clicked the wrong log type) -what no flashing?
Good to see cachers come together.
Thanks

Thanks
I decided to take a detour on the way to this event for another grab and feared at one point, that I would not make it on time... Luckily, I pulled up with a few minutes to spare and spotted a gaggle of other sports lovers making their way to GZ... I tagged along and made it in plenty of time as it turned out...
A really good turn out for this event. There were attendees that I had hoped to meet but, I didn't even know where there til I came to log my attendance... Maybe another time.
Thanks for putting this event together Ghostgums. My first "walk in" WWFM event.

Not so much a swing in more of a ride-by or ruzzelz. An earlier pass was to reveal several groups of suspicious characters lucking along the riverbanks, behind trees and on park benches.
To my surprise there were even a few cachers on 2 wheels including Mr & Mrs L&L on a very different set of two wheels.

What a flash time we had...great to be part of a world-wide phenomenon! Thanks GhostGums for organising Brissies first - cheers, svn07
You would have to wonder what the muggles were thinking when so many people turned up to this spot, then after such a short time, moved off again in different directions. An interesting event - now how adventurous can we get for the next one? Thanks for organising this GhostGums.
A great event, thanks to Ghost Gums for the organisation of it. Good to catch up with some old faces and also meet a couple of new ones.
Yay my first flash event, thanks ghostgums. I was lucky to make this one as l went looking for a couple of caches in the morning which took waaaaaay too long. Glad to make it in time though and to see fellow cachers again
Spent quite a bit of time admiring the flora in this area, waiting for the correct time to gather en masse. Thanks GhostGums for the fun event.
Participated in the flashing was good fun to be part of the global event. Thanks for the effort of organisation.
Swung by early in the morning to grab a cache or 2 before the 'flashing' and only made it back just in time for this auspicious event a BIG thank you to Ghostgums for organising this event.
Only just made it as I was delayed. Thanks GhostGums for organising this event - and the chance to grab a few more caches in the area between events.
sorry... couldn't come... plans changed after a phone call at 8am this morning
a shame... really wanted to come, but oh well... maybe next time...

That was fun. Lots of suspicious people hanging around aimlessely suddenly converging on a set of swings at 11am. I am sure that happens every day around this area Thanks to GhostGums for organizing the event.
Well this was quite spectacular to see the masses of cachers assemble at gz... a great attendance!! was glad to be there... can't wait for the next one!!
Arrived for this Flash by the river event and I was suprised to see so many others Flashing too. Thanks GhostGums
Thanks everyone tending the first WWFM event to be held in Brisbane. We were one of 152 WWFM events held around the world this weekend.
We will try to be a bit more inventive next time and perhaps move it around.
Attached is the group photo.
Again thanks for attending.

Arrived near GZ with 2 minutes and 40 seconds to go, so lurked a short distance away until the appointed time. As the GPSr clock ticked over the hour, 40 or so bodies suddenly materialised at GZ. Lots of "gidays", "hellos" and "how ya goins". Then it was time for the ground photo. A couple of camera flashes and that was that. As quick as it started, the park was empty. "On ya", GhostGums for organising the event. It was fun to be part of it.
I have finally been part of a Flash Event! Cool. Thanks for organising the event, Troy - well done. So many fellow cachers I hadn't laid eyes on before - wow.
Arrived at gz on time, after waiting for a long while on the outside. Thanks for a gr8 event.
I swung by the river at the appointed hour and joined a mottly group of geocachers for this auspicious first WWFM event in Brisbane. I enjoyed meeting some new and old friends. Thanks Ghostgums.
If everyone has a namebadge, we can all concentrate on the event and not be embarrassed about remembering names. I'm horrible with names please help me [:X].
All good to go!
Remember to bring hat, suncreen etc as we will be out in the open, and just in case there is rain an umbrella.
The ground was a little soft the other day after the rain so take care.
Hope to see you saturday.

Greetings, from SoCal...
Just a head up, I am trying to get my youngest daughter there, to be driven by her grandfather. At the same time (I hope) they are there, we will be doing the Flashing in the adopted hometown of San Diego.
But I gotta tell ya, it would be nice to be home with the Jacarandas and the cold beer at the Story Bridge Hotel.

Hi,
that sounds cool, because I will be in Australia and in Brisbane at this time, I try to visit this flash mob.
Hoppefully there will be an after event, too!

I will post some details tonight about the WWFM exactly is, in a Brisbane context.
Before you ask yourself the question, its a long way to go for 15mins, there will be a follow up event (about 1hr later), not too far away, which I hope will be published in the next few days, once I finalise details with my co-conspirators.
But this is an explanation from one in the US.
About WWFM: It's an acronym for "World Wide Flash Mob." As developed by Sonny and Sandy of the PodCacher podcast, it's a series of simultaneous caching events designed to raise awareness and have fun.
Flash mobs are mini-happenings, consisting of large groups of people that suddenly appear in public, perform some sort of brief action, then disperse. One of the first events took place in 2003, when over 100 people suddenly appeared in the home furnishings department of Macy's and gathered around an expensive rug. When asked if they needed assistance, someone replied that they were shopping for a "love rug" and made purchase decisions as a group! Other flash mob events include Worldwide Pillow Fight Day and the "Critical Mass" bicycle gatherings in San Francisco.
