Staying at the nearby NZMCA park again, so wandered over to make a quick find this afternoon, TFTC
Today:Had most of the day to myself, while the rest of the family did some tramping around Toteranui. That's also where I started on my MTB, going over Gibbs hill, then down to the coast, following the main road + some diversions all the way to the bottom of Takaka hill. Found 20 odd caches along the way. Good weather, nice scenery, great success! This cache:Nice one! I was at the wrong side of the road at first, the rock climbing side. Also cool to see, some French speaking climbers were just wrapping up. I was wondering if I should be going up one of these cravices. Luckily I did not try and returned to the road to check the area again. Ahh, there is the cave, cool! Quick find one inside, tftc & fp!
Such a cool wee climb in the cave. My advice would be to look at the hooole left wall dont just walk in 6-8m and start looking
Today we spent the day in Abel Tasman Park - it was our last day on the South Island. We wanted to go to the Abel Tasman monument and crossed this spot. So we took a look in the cave and spotted the cache quite soon. Thanks for hiding and maintaining the cache.Happy hunting!TFTCschnuckel1[#24089]
Woohoo, here for the second year in a row. Had to get my off sides to locate as I don't do caves of any sort, but I am told not too far in. Travelling with Pusncat & Patnpom. Awesome spot, thanks.
Marchwood and I set out on an ambitious Geocaching adventure today. I'm not quite sure why I didn't find this one on a previous visit, but today it seemed quite easy. TFTC.
Staying in Pohara for Easter weekend. Solved this in anticipation of this trip . Headed out for an early morning session of caching. Managed to find this with my phone torch. Hadn’t come prepared for rummaging around it caves but wasn’t going to miss out on a find. Thanks for the smiley.
SJT_NZ and I had looked at this one on a previous visit but time was short and we were heading out so didn't want to risk getting covered in dirt and dust. In the area for the end of the long weekend and that to previous logs a lot easier than the description indicated. Thanks beltfamily.
That was cool and a quick find while we debated if we needed to delve further. Tftc
27 November 2021 11:56. Number 10434 for me. This was interesting, to explore, and I made the search harder than it needed to be, came back out, reread other logs then found it by using the ' now where would I have put it?' approach. TFTC
A good search first, followed by reading previous. Followed the ideas of others and found the cache. Also spotted a climber across the road - photo. Glad this didn’t have to be done to find the cache. TFTC beltfamily.
We failed to find this cache on a previous visit in 2015. However this time, after searching around the suggested distance inside, we moved back closer to the entrance, and soon found the cache. A favourite from us. TFTC
Day 20 of three weeks winter motorhoming in the upper half of the South Island. Moved on from Port Tarakohe (between Pohara and Ligar Bay) back over the Takaka hill to Motueka today. Picked up a few caches along the way.
This one wasn’t quite as daunting as I was expecting it to be! It was also more quickly found than I was anticipating! #4226. TFTC.

This was an exciting cache. Had stopped at the exit and wandered back to the start. On our bikes on a short ride around from Horapa. A beautiful evening finished far too quickly as darkness and coldness came in early. Well it is mid winter.
Quick find with torch off cellphone. Second place I looked. FP from me for such an. Awesome spot. Walk through to the exit

Having read the description and also read the logs of others I went prepared with a good headlight and a plan of attack. The cache was a very quick find. Cache was found in the just the 2nd place I looked. Thanks for the placement Belt Family.
Having had a few beers and a good night's sleep after returning from the Heaphy Track yesterday I was time to return home and to reality after four great day's tramping.
This has been one of those nemesis caches for too long now. Several previous looks yielded nothing but today - following a couple of recentish finds - I also made a find almost immediately. Had I looked in this place before? Possibly, but it's been found now.
Thanks beltfamily

#8546. I stopped to look at this one two days ago but did not have a torch with me. Today I had my headlamp so parked nearby and headed back to GZ. An interesting cave. I walked right through it on the first sweep. Lots of places to hide a cache. So read the description and hint once more and headed back inside. This time I spied a place I had missed on the first pass and there was the cache. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache where found. Thanks beltfamily for hiding the cache here.
A nice quick find This was the last for the day and it was starting to get dark. Phone torches worked a treat and cache quickly found. Time to stop and have a refeshing beverage.
Found as we moved from Motueka into Golden Bay. The weather has been the best since we left Christchurch.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Walked around from NZMCA camp area nearby. Not as far in as expected so that was good. Great cache! Thanks
A problem cache for Capperz on previous visits. Today we had no major issues. Quick find. TFTC Beltfamily.
Wanted a crack at this one as have attempted a few times down the years and always the same result - nothing. Headed in again this time and checked on the left as I went in. There was the cache and all good here, replaced as found. Another nemesis cache taken off 'the list'. T F T C
Day 2 began nice and early. A tin of beans for brekky and a cup of tea and on the road around 0700, a lie-in compared to yesterday. Started off at Milnethorpe and pretty much cleared the lot in 3 hours. Then to Pupu springs for the Virtual and finished off at Takaka Hill, after a diversion to Abel Tasman lookout. Phew, quite a day and still back in time for mrs capperz to get home.
A long weekend trip to Takaka with mrs capperz away too meant an early start on Saturday, over the hill(s) and a night at the backpackers before another full on day Sunday and home in time for takeaway pizza. A few caches to pump the numbers along, some great scenery and good company with ricardinho.nz in the co-pilots chair. Over 80 caches found and some awesome photos taken and a 30km plus day on Sat, followed by a 20km plus day on Sunday.

After taking a look yesterday. We went back today with out torches and found the cache. Scary place!
Great rock formations around here. Didn't realise how far I had gone in until I looked back towards the others waiting and realised that it was way too far. Retrieved cache, signed log and got out of there. TFTC.
Staying at the nearby campsite, this was a quick find with a phone torch.

After dinner I went on a quick bike ride past the entrance to this one....parked up and climbed inside. Was a little nervous but with the phone torch on and my helmet left on I felt ok. The find was not quite where I thought but got there after a bit of scrambling around.
On exiting the cave I came across a couple of climbers with harnesses from the opposite rock wall....not too sure what they were thinking I was up to lol

Found after the Nelson to Tarakohe yacht race (I was aboard Same Cafe, we came second!). I had some time to fill in, so I had a look for some geocaches. TFTC
This wasn't as scary as I thought it might be. Very interesting rock formations all around here. Thanks for the placement beltfamily
Great cache...these types of hides have lots of character ....used my tourch to light the spot and soon had the log signed thanks Belt family well done

Got to the right place then found out it was fenced of because it’s a penguin breeding site so I couldn’t go into the cave =(

That was an easy one for me. But I'm used to be in caves.
Thanks for the cache says

Omg.. caves freak me out haha. Luckily I had my mate Marley to come along with me on a night mish. Ventured in waaaaaaay more than we needed to. Maybe good for the my fear!! Thanks. Fave from me. Oh yeh..those penguins are bloody noisy haha.
Just realised this was my 666 cache... Maybe I wudnt have gone in if I knew this .hahaha
Taking a winter birthday break at Pohara Top 10 Holiday Park. Not sure about this one - we definitely thought we were in the right place and we had the torch, but there were various items strewn about which may or may not have come from the cache.
The Seagnoid, Zara and I are off for an adventure to Golden Bay. The Seagnoid is navigator and Zara and I pair up getting us from A to B?? OK the awesome Rawhiti Caves are behind us - so what adventures await us?
While walking to this one, we looked up to see a rock climber attempting the sheer cliffs on the other side of the road. Now lets explore this cave, and we did, and we hunted. No go but The Seagnoid has been here before. We make up a new cache and log and return to snuggle it back close to GZ as he can remember. Rocks keep falling but thankfully the big one missed my toes. Interesting place to explore. cheers

Ah! How shameful for a fox like me not to find it due to a lack of light! I would have supposed my natural night-vision to be sufficient. But alas, this body seems to disagree.
At first, I was looking at the wrong side of the road since I assumed the picture in the cache was how the location would look like. I couldn't have been more mistaken.
The travelling fox is sad =u,u=

We could not have a look for the cache because of two sleeping people there. Maybe next time
Was at the right location, but didn't read about the torch and my phone was not giving enough light so I abandoned this one.
Good thing I brought the torch as it was definitely needed and a good search located the cache.
Sir belac and I spent ages searching this cache with know luck ,we went away and come Bach armed with torches and still couldn't find it .
Flashlight app on the phone was sufficient. Cache was lying fully exposed have located it somewhat better.

Second time back and found it. Spotted a native nesting. Will have to go back for a third time with my pen dohh.
This was a really interesting place to visit, but unfortunately we were unable to find the cache. While we were there, a carload of people arrived, and it turned out they had lived near us, and we had some mutual friends. We also discovered the nearby pirate library.
hubby was more adventurous than me and started to explore but I had the phone light so I ventured in also. Not as scary as I imagined. Quick find. Thanks for the cache.
On Tour together with Sabe73 as Team "TheBros" around South Island to visit some nice spots.
We also visited this location and could find the box almost quickly.
Thank you for showing us this place and of course for the Cache.

Yes a bit dusty, but no problems with the find. It's not as dangerous or frightening as the description indicates. Further down it smells as though there might be the occasional seafaring visitor!! TFTC
NZDi and I have been planning a long weekend in Golden Bay for a month or so and today these plans came into fruition. Of course a long weekend out of town would not be complete without the odd cache thrown in and so a few caches were planned along the way. The weather back in Blenheim had been crap all week and the forecast for the weekend was not that flash either, however as soon as we got across the Whangamoa's we could see this part of the country was bathed in sunshine.
This is day three of our Golden Bay caching weekend and the plan was to visit The Grove, Rawhiti Cave, The Labyrinths and the Milnthorpe Park with a few random cache to link them all together.
This cache was unfinished business after a non-logged DNF back in March when we came across on a work trip to do the Heaphy Track. This time I had NZDi (the Pitbull who never gives up) with me, so we stopped for another go. After working out the book exchange was not where the cache was hidden we thought it might be 'on top' but that didn't gel with the cache description. As the GPS signal was a bit flaky, I crossed the road to see if I could get a better 'fix' which was when I saw the entrance point. After that it was a QEF. I personally felt the danger factor was over-stated, but NZDi was a bit 'freaked out'.

Found with Kiwimykl, refer to his log for details.
I personally don't like enclosed spaces, but I still think the danger rating is overstated.

First stumbled across the magical place for a great piratical rumbustification - brilliant so glad I made that mistake. Saw where I thought I had to squeeze from there and decided that was past my comfort zone. When I came back out I thought I should follow that arrow a bit further and found where I was supposed to go all along. A quick find after that. A really great cache thanks beltfamily and really pleased to be able to make a find after 2 DNFs in a row. TFTC #7286
found close to sunset so it was very dark - luckily my daughter had her iPhone so we used the flashlight to make the find - TFTC
#1258 second visit - this time with a better light - phone didn't quite give the required illumination (but still possible). Nice and dry in its little spot - exchanged TBs look out for a set of keys that not and is a set of keys
And I need to log the TB...

Wow, I loved this one! I need some geocaching challenges once in a while and this one was quite a good one:-)))
A little bit scary, but I managed it to find it though! Nice adventure! Didn't expect a cache here:-)))
Thank you for hiding !!
In: TB on its way back to Germany plus FP

Found after a fantastic kayaking trip from Tata Beach to Wainui Bay. After parking, discovered the 'pirate book exchange' - an interesting oddity in the middle of nowhere. Onwards to the cave. Had a bit of trouble seeing at first, but then realised that removing the sunglasses certainly helps. Didn't take too long to find - the hint certainly helped. Really enjoyed this cache, favourite from me. TFTC.
On the way around to have another go at Tata 4.5 v2..a stop on the way to get this..don't know why I thought I was looking for the photo!! Probably is Wales..not Golden Bay!! Found with the light of the GPS!!
