Came here alot growing up but never knew there was a cache here all along. Love this place tftc

06-Sep-23
OCW Brewmaker to collect a few more along the Georges . After Locating" Fight, flight or fall" it was approx, 178 metres to GZ to this cache . After reading the description we had a fair idea where we were looking for - we thought . We struggled a little to get to the correct elevation until we arrived to this lovely cave as per the cache name. Coordinates indicated we were within 10 metres . BM approached it from the left and I from the right this large boulder within this "cave". It wasn't long before BM spotted the prize . A very scenic location and quiet . While signing the long , I couldn't help noticing a very large nest - up high - maybe a sea eagle. TFTC Rainbow Sprit .golden paper clip

OCW Curliebunny666 on another raid along the Georges River, this time around Minto and Ingelburn. We met at the locked gate along Duncan St, and headed off for our first for the day.

After our first for the day, we followed the ridge and rough trail to this one. As we approached GZ, the namesake of the cache appeared. It took a bit of careful scrambling, but had the right location. So many holes in a huge opening, then I saw the camoed prize. I carefully made my way up the slope and had CIH. After signing, I replaced as found, adding a TB to the cache.

Then CB666, noticed the eagle nest up high in the roof of the cave. Very impressive! Another awesome location along the river. Have a FP. TFTC

Found It!
Amazing place and a great spot for a cache! Didn't take long to find it after I had descended to the right elevation.

08-Sep-22
Great camo, although you might want to touch it up as it has gotten scratched up a bit Smile

30-Aug-21
Such a great spot! So many nooks and crannies. Didn't take us too long to find thankfully. Be careful, ants like honeycombe too...

15-Aug-21
Found it with detalia. We forgot the pen. Didn't bring our wives who remember these things!!

15-Aug-21
Great find

05-Jul-21
Bashing it from the previous cache we found an easy trail the ridge line and a nice easy path to the honeycomb. Careful foot placement and a sharp eye, the cache was spotted and log was signed. TFTC

Fantastic spot. TFTC.

Out geocaching with Gundrills on a rare day off work together. Thought we’d try for these 3 in a row. All very well placed caches.

So much honeycomb to examine! I was at GZ for a while before I saw something out of place.
Another great little adventure.

07-Sep-20
Deciding today was not the day to be indoors and wanting to go on a hunt, when perfect timing... my geobuddy Meritonnn wanted to go for a couple on my list as well. We met up at the end of the road and started our journey in. Coming up a small incline from Slide, we noticed that we weren't at the right elevation when reaching gz. Manoeuvring our over the rocks and cliff side, we came across a magnificant cave overlooking the Georges River. Having a quick scan around and we came up with the goods. CIH we signed and replaced. This was a lovely walk with great views and totally worth a further explore. Also giving this cache a bit of love as it has been awhile since it has had a visitor. Cache in good condition. TFTC Rainbow Spirit!

07-Sep-20
Working our way around the cliff line from Slide, Littl3Vix and I soon found ourselves within 10m or so of GZ. Having read the description and logs we had a good idea of where we needed to be. After a short scramble down, I was starting to make my way up to start the search when L3V who was behind me told me she could see it! Oh, yep! Nice camo and we'll spotted! This is a magnificent spot, it reminds me a little of Cliff face by Raby Roamers. Wonderful! Tftc!

8:50am.

Second time DNF here. After nabbing two higher terrain RS caches nearby, I came back to this DNF from April last year. Not sure what I’m missing or how. I once again scoured the area and went around corners to no avail. I shall return.

Tftc, rookie error left the pen up top, so up I climbed and back I came, I left a pen for anyone who makes my mistake

Rainbow Spirit I found your cache Honeycomb on 13/7/19, 3:15 pm. This is my find 2417 and find # 5 today. Was looking in the wrong spot for ages until I went around the corner. Wow what a top spot, nest is still there. Cache easily found. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN

23-Apr-18
Took 6 year old niece and brother on a bush walk today and thought we'd swing past this marvel of a place. Cache is still there, although it seems to be in an easier spot than I remember it being when we found it a couple of years ago. Too bad we've found this one already as it hasn't been found in over a year- very unloved!

09-Apr-18
No dice today. Spent a good long while up and down and under and over and inside but couldn’t espy the cache. Cheers any Rainbow Spirit! L’chaim!

17-Apr-17
After the Easter feasting we had a bit of time to go and burn some of it off so these are the caches we decided to do. Plenty of hills and rocks to scramble. Soon arrived at GZ and located the cache. TFTC

This little cluster of caches is what it is all about for me, loved this spot, and loved getting here. Saw the nest but it was unoccupied. Gotta love their choice of home though.

Great hidden spot thanks

28-Jun-15
What a beautiful spot hidden away, took a friend along who wanted to be introduced to caching and who lives near by and was blown away by the hidden treasure so close to her home. Cheeese Pizza and AreWeThereYetOrWhat joined us. much easier descent than first thought, worth coming right down, got there close to sunset but enough light to snap some pics. Thank you Rainbow Spirit for bringing us to a beaut spot tftc Smile

28-Jun-15
This was such a pretty place - wish I'd had a better camera to take pics. Might come back down to show my dad because he'd love it here. TFTC!

We came to this one on our way back from Slide. We got to 4m and thought how the hell do we get down. Light was fading and we weren't sure how long this might take but we spotted an easy way down and the geo teens went ahead to check it out. Thankfully it was found in under 5 mins, signed and replaced. What a beautiful spot - we did pause for some pics before heading back. TFTC!

We were a bit worried about this one as we always geocache with our 3 geodogs and worry about going too close to cliffs. One of our geodogs' favourite past times seems to be looking over the edge of cliffs, despite how many slippery leaves are present there. Anyway we approached GZ and it actually turned out not to be too bad. It is along the cliff line, but not along a ledge or anything where a fall would send you straight off a cliff. So glad we decided to attempt this one. What an AMAZING sandstone structure. Took a heap of photos. Geodogs had fun climbing here there and everywhere. Searched around in a bunch of holes to no avail, then stepped back and had a good look. Then saw it! Great camo. Blends right in. I couldn't actually see it up close but could reach up and feel for it with a bit of "left... no right... up a bit" from those sitting further away. SL TN left ball maze. Would love to see the owner of that nest! Thanks for bringing us here Smile.

26-Apr-15
Took a while to find as it is well camouflaged. A fantastic area with all the weathered sandstone and the drop offs down to the Georges River. TFTC.

18-Apr-15
Loved the spot, just fantastic. The description led us straight to a likely spot, but we couldn't see anything with our eyes. Pulled out the phone and took a video of the spots we couldn't see - then watched it - and there it was!!! Grabbed the cache, signed log and returned it back to it's exact spot - only to realise that yes, indeed, you can see it on approach - when you know it's there Wink Perfect camo! Thanks!

07-Mar-15
After Fight, Flight or Fall, again with TC, this time followed the trail until we had to leave it, and then again we seemed to take rough choices in managing to make our way there.
Found the honeycomb and a well camo taped container, SL, love the hide RS.

07-Mar-15
Three and a half years ago I printed these caches off and run out time. Today I finally returned!?!

We tried to make this too easy until I spotted the cache name and we got around to GZ. But I eas on the wrong side to spot the hide and Martin Cousins found it before me. A great area for a hide.

TFTC.

I love exploring caves like this. Went up and down a few times, sat down to read the description etc, and saw the amazing nest! A very nice spot to contemplate the world, with the sound of the river in the background. But today I was on a tight schedule, so back to searching. A couple minutes later I had my hand on a nicely camo'ed cache.

03-Apr-14
A little caching expedition in this area today. Hadn't been here before, but the George River area is always great to visit. The caches around here are mostly quit challenging and this one was no different! Love the honeycomb!

12-Apr-13
Bugger. Top spot though

05-Apr-13
Oh there it is!
Can't believe I missed it. It was visible on the approach to the honeycombs. Even then I didn't notice until I had checked the surrounding ledges and nooks.

01-Apr-13
No find today. I made my way to the sandstone cave. The strong smell of a petting zoo rising from the area.
I checked all the visible holes on both sides. Then all I could think of was go up.
I do not trust the sandstone fingers to not snap while going up so I had to call a dnf.
Otherwise the partyanimals have knocked it out.

12-Jan-13
That is a really nice spot. Some tracks were left by a previous cacher which helped a bit. Top spot and not too hard a find.

12-Oct-12
Visited the GZ as the day was clearing after a lot of rain. Things were slippery but I was not deterred. Found the beautiful GZ and spent some time admiring the rock formations and the huge nests. Unfortunately I could not find the cache! I will be back to this great location for another look/

21-Aug-12
What an amazing spot this area is. Love the cache name!

I had been here a while back completing other caches in the rain and backed out of this one as it was too wet, last time water made its way off the overhang and made the find too hard.. Sad

No cache guards around, so off I set trying to make the find... looking here, looking there... climbing the various levels until one last spot finally showed the goods!

Mossies set in & I set off!!! THEY WERE HUGE! [XX(]

another top Rainbow Spirit cache

Awesome spot challenging find tftc

08-May-11
What a beautiful winters day, and also Mothers Day so let my geo-wife choose a cache of her choice, and she picked this one off our closest to home page. A magnificent overhang greeted us at GZ and if the local residents were home would have added to the adventure. We climbed along the various levels until the fingers found the cache. TNLN another top spot thanks Rainbow Spirit. Big GrinBig Grin.

Wow what a beautiful spot. No-one home in the nest or they were keeping their heads down.

I literally put my hand on the cache whilst finding a hand hold for a peek.

Thanks for bringing me here. Lovely cache.

There are limits to how far I am prepared to go while wearing cleated cycling shoes and I think I reached my limit today. Big Grin

Having done some rock scrambles in the past in cleated cycling shoes I do know my limits (yeah, I know, I'm a wimp). Will have to come back and do this in more appropriate footwear.

I would suggest that the eyrie possibly belongs to a Powerful Owl. Right type of location, construction is similar to others I've seen locally (Tangles would be able to tell, he's the owl man).

Just for a bit of fun I found a hole to crawl through that led to an interesting rock shelf and cave formations in amongst the cliff line and I must get some photos next time I am here. Looking at the amount of animal scat it is a popular spot.

I will have to try and get back here soon.

Thanks RS,
Michael (GPS).

26-Sep-10
What an amazing spot and so close to an old Tangles cache. After a search that took way too long I eventually had the cache in hand.

The cache guardians weren't home today but they must look a sight perched high in the homes. Thanks Rainbow spirit

19-Sep-10
2pm. 5 of 5. A very successful day considering they were all RS's caches. 2 of 3 yesterday otherwise perfect record!.
Geobuddies relied on eyes only...hands go where angles fear to thread.
TFTC and a good days sightseeing and exercise.

19-Sep-10
Another amazing place. After a bit of thought I was fairly sure were the cache would be but after 2 traverses of the area I still couldn't find it. Over to the more experienced Compassreading who, despite being slightly more vertically-challenged than me, quickly had the cache in hand. TFTC.

04-Sep-10
I should get a smile, just because I was hanging on a cliff in the wet today. Yes a stupid day to do this can tell you now that Ive done it. I searched and searched no eagles nest to be found. Felt very unsure of my footing just had to stop before something happen. Wasnt happy

02-Sep-10
WanderingAus wandered by on day 114 of our annual Climatic Refugee trip, in company with the owner. After a few of these I was getting used to the sort of spots to look, but after a while I had to let my fingers do the looking, and then I made a fairly easy GAFF 0 find.

Another absolutely awesome spot, worth all the effort of the day.

My find No 3008, LCC, TNLNSL, dropped my WanderingAus Happy New Year 2008 Gold GC in for a visit before grabbing it back again.

*Recommended* *Overall Experience: 5*

Just love this location I mean the rock formations and throw in the eagles nest almost forgot why I was
there with homedg in the first place. This cache was playing hard to get searched high /low up/ down after
a bit of time searching used phone a friend and soon cache was in hand.A very good camo yet again and
top location and great hide...thanks RS..for giving us a reason to come here.....Smile[8)]

Once again we'd come down to do some more of the excellent caches along the Georges River. 'Twas not as warm as the last occasion we were here as Autumn was now upon us, but still a nice day. We parked at the recommended place and traipsed off down the road before heading into the scrub, this time following a bike track of some sort. Left that and headed along the escarpment before locating the obvious feature indicated by the cache name whereupon our search commenced. After a methodical check of likely and possible locations we finally found the nicely hidden little container in a position that the shorter half of Altaire would have found a touch challenging. Not sure if the nest is used in Spring but it is certainly vacant at this time of year. It's a lovely spot and a nice example of this type of erosion effect on sandstone. Peaceful too and we could hear the Georges river chuckling below and even a glimpse here and there through the trees. Picked up some lens cloth, leaving a little trinket in it's place. A very good cache maintaining the high standard of caches along this river.

13-Mar-10
2nd cache in the series for the day.
A bit of a scramble had us at the obvious and fantastic formation. The cache location was not as obvious though and after a lengthy search I must admit I had to result to the phone a friend option.
A sneaky hide in a top location.
Great stuff. TFTC

A lovely location, like most of the caches that we have visited today.
Webguy turned up the goods as I was searching another area nearby.
A nice cool relaxing spot to sign the log.

Thanks Rainbow Spirit.

By far my favourite location today!!

Spent too much time looking for it when I nearly had it in the first 2 minutes I was looking. great sitting here in the cool with a nice breeze compared to the heat up on top!!

Cheers

Second attempt with Quin4 , he spotted ot straight away , I looked for an hour last time. Thanks, happy new Year!

30-Dec-09
Second time lucky on this one. First time was marred by a near death experience when the ledges i was holding onto broke and nearly had me falling face first down a 5 metre drop. This time around a quick feel of the area with an accurate GPSr location gave the cache away within minutes of looking. Loved the south west georges river series. Have had a great time searching and locating the hides. TNLN. TFTC Smile

16-Nov-09
Well I found the honeycomb and the nest, climbed along sandstone ledges which did break and caused a scare. But still didn't find. Will try again some other time.

After having such a good time last weekend enjoying quality Rainbow Spirit caches we couldn't resist heading back out here again today and we weren't disappointed. This place was amazing. Admittedly, we spent ages here and ended up searching in places that were probably more suited as being 4.5* terrain! Anyway, common sense eventually prevailed and after a long search, praying that the sandstone ledges didn't crumble beneath us, thought we'd head back to where we first started. Bingo! How stupid were we. It was in the obvious spot!
No sign of any eagles today but that's a super nest.
Thanks,
The Hancock Clan

After the great cache hide I'd just experienced I was not sure what to expect on this one.
I found my way down a little and spent 10 minutes searching at the wrong level, giving up and moving down to the next I soon discovered what this ones name is all about.
Tremendous, Outstanding, Breath taking are all good ways to describe what I found, what I also did not expect was an FTF! So it was great to grab this one whilst down here.
I found the predators nest and just sat and enjoyed the spot while the log was done, Nice workWink
After repositioning the cache I covered my tracks and made my way out, convinced there was no way I was returning from whence I had come!
I legged it out to the nearby Duncan St and started my walk back to the car, problem was it was some 7 k's by road and it was high time I was back at work!
God Bless PostiesBig Grin as a passing postie saw me I waved him down and he was nice enough to plonk me back at my car, That could have been a disaster!
Next time I'll explore all avenues rather than let the GPS tell me the best place to park and walk. As for the cache well that was a great one quite sneaky and beutiful all at the same time, Thanks Rainbow Spirit nicely doneBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig Grin
P.S Took the TB too!

06-Oct-09
Had a bit of trouble with this one, The GPS was getting good reception so once at the GZ I searched high and low, back and forth
spending a good half hour searching for the cache. Found the eagle's nest and figured out where the cache gets its name from!!! will
have to give it another go in the near future.

To set this cache I parked in Duncan St. You cannot drive from Groves Rd and Derby St as there are locked gates on the roads.
