Trees gone new fence blocks caches.

13-Dec-15
No longer able to drive up to it but there is space to pull over about 160m from the cache. TFTC!

12-Dec-15
There is a fence between the road and the cache and without a gate or stile I did not venture into the paddock. I suggest that the cache is archived.

05-Dec-15
Grabbed the trackable ya! New fence around the area - maybe the ownership has changed? Wandered up to find the grave which was cool to say her name

#509

Another nice cache on our drive from Christchurch to Twizel that included many stops on the way. There was a fence stopping us from driving to GZ so we walked there and found the cache after a short search. Nice vantage point, took a few nice pics.

This cache was part of our 2015 New Zealand trip in which many great moments were had. Many views were seen and more photos were taken. Several caches were also found.

Thanks to all the hiders for their caches.

I drove all the way here, For others wanting to do the same, I recommend the eastern entry as it is much less scratchy Wink

I wonder why all the trees have been cut down and organized in neat rows, almost making a giant enclosure..

Found at 01:41 PM - #5592

Lucky we hired a 4WD! TFTC. Mr & Mrs D.

usually the shortest distance between A. (car) and B (the cache) is a straight line except when the young ones are in charge of the gps so we checked nearly every rock on the way to GZ was worth it though first cache of a great day in the McKenzie MT cook area

Anzac Weekend, and my bf had a photography course in Tekapo, and it's my mum's b day also, so decided to make a whole weekend of it!
Spend time caching together with the fam, and just having a nice weekend in Tekapo. Found 50 caches, but some very awesome ones in some beautiful scenery!!

Last day morning, me and mum snuck out of our accommodation before the boys were up to go and get some caches. We like caching more anyways!!!

Took a bit of bush bashing.. wow that was rocky... huuuuuuuuuge!

Most hides found with the whole fam were simply signed as 'Team Polak' to save our ink and the logsheet and our hands Razz

quick find after a bit of a hike from the road. We had to park there as towing a caravan on behind so makes some of these caches all the more challenging for us. We took a more direct root back on our hands & knees going under !!!!!TFTC.

TFTC SL Wow what a rock. Easy to find, but the drive in was a bit scratchy off the Rosehip bushes, on the sides of my new car !! Thanks Bitsprayer for this rock - It was a super place for a cache. How did you find it in the first place ??

13-Jan-14
Find #60 on a road-trip from Blenheim to Dunedin, through St Arnauds, Hamner Springs, Aoraki/ Mount Cook, and Christchurch. After a cache drought all the way back to Tekapo, it was good to stop and stretch the legs. I managed to get to the formidable rock quickly, but GPS batteries failed and I had to bush-bash towards the road. I found myself right beside my car, which was lucky. TFTC

11-Jan-14
Were going to do this one on last trip south but got confused about where to stop. Didn't happen on return trip as in a bus after holing our sump. This time was a must do. About 20 rabbits ran away as we got out of the car. The ground shows why they are a noxious pest here. We thought yeah right a rock and a pine in a pine forest but we sure knew when we found it.

talk about "watership down"!! for and awful moment there it though the cache may be in one of the holes, being moved around by the millions of furry bounces... wish i had brought my throwing stick i could of maybe taken one or two out to dinner!! - cool location - who would have ever known it was here - guess you found it before the tree's hid it?

Found by Team Ladava with baby&Mrs gopher on our New Zealand Mega odyssey.
Continuing our Bitsprayer guided tour along today’s route.
Quite a soggy walk over a type of soil I am not familiar with but it certainly hosts a million rabbits.
Locations like this are 'the icing on the cake' of Geocaching with the locals hosting us anonymously to their favourite spots.

Our thanks to Bitsprayer for the cache and bringing us to this location.

Varuna was very polite in not mentioning that I decided to drive right up to this one... followed a couple of tire tracks through the grass until they disappeared then drove across some apparently dry ground which turned out to be anything but... the top 50 mm was dry but underneath the top layer was mud the consistency of hot chocolate. The truck bellied out on the underpan and we ended up having to set up the hand winch and pull the truck out using a handy tree as an anchor.. sooo... score one... about an hour to extract the truck.. score two.. about 2 minutes to find the cache!! Thanks for taking us here, I'll certainly be more careful around here in future!!

Travelling in our Geo Hire Car with the Aussie flag flying (almost Aussie ribbons now Wink), tends to attract a few comments from muggles, we were heading from Geraldine to Alexandra.

We didn't leave till nearly 9am but also didn't arrive in Alexandra till nearly 8pm, with lot's of caches picked up enroute and a lengthy stop to enjoy the scenery and a coffee after lunch.

This route was suggested to us on the local forum and we have to say, thank you very much for the information, it has proved to be a great day of epic proportions. Scenery has been fabulous even though quite cloudy for most of the day, still so much to see, enjoy and we took 100's of photo's.

Well this was an epic in itself. We sloshed through the puddles in our boots, but got it all wrong so actually ended up walking in circles till we were back at the road to corss the drain then off we set again through the water. Not bad as instead of the usual 3 GPSr's we only had 1 carried by Mrs Felix who as usual was at the back of the pack. Eventually we were 30metres from GZ, or at least Mrs Felix was when MM yells found it.

Mr Felix then takes the lead and heads directly back to the road, leaving MM to help Mrs Felix through and under the trees weaving our way eventually to the car. Phew. Glad to get back there. Thought we were lost forever!.....

Left a FelixII visits NZ pathtag here.

Well onto day two of my trip to NZ !!!

The aim of the today was to meander down through the center of the Island
covering about 200 km from Geraldine to Alexandra visiting a few touristy spots and picking
up a few caches on route.

I had heard that it was a scenic drive, but was still totally wowed by the diversity of
environments on show. Some quite incredible places.

I can't add too much to the log from FELIX below. !!! But I was wandering 30 odd meters
ahead without a GPSr and found a spot that was ROCKY and PINEY so it met the cache name,
so took a look round and discovered the Cache.

A great walk and adventure have a FAV point.

We walked into the cache tiptoe through the puddles, found what we were looking for in the first place we looked and then came out through the pines. TFTH

The hint did help us out as there were many pines and rocks. Strange about the road that USED to be there somewhere. We couldn't understand when that was.

Welcome to Rabbitopia! A bit muddy when we were there but beautiful landscape. Enjoyed the wee hike, well worth a look. Tftc

How do people discover theses wayout places??? Great place for a cache. Thanks

10-Apr-12
Mrs SoBad had the suitable shoes - the rain had stopped but the ground was still very wet - so did the last 100m. Took her longer to find than it should have - concentrated too much on pines. Thanks.

After some wandering around we found the rocky part of this cache.
The grounds there will be totally occupied by the rabbits ! TFTC

12-Feb-12
Much easier if we had parked on the road and walked across to the cache. We had a pleasant walk down the old road. TFTC

Drove in and out easily enough, to find a well hidden rock/boulder/small house! Thanks for the stop.

#734: That's Some Rock!

We stopped by to search for this one on our way to Tekapo. Lots of cushion from the pine needles as we made our way through this new forest to GZ. Huge pinecones as well. GeoYoungling #3 made the fine, as GeoYoungling #1 made her way up to the top for a good look-see. All in good shape!
