In light of the current travel restrictions and the requests by regional councils to stay away etc, I am disabling all my caches until the COVID-19 situation has passed and things return back to normal. Please respect this and do not go looking for these caches.

#2100 (streak day 259)

*** TOP SECRET - AUS/ EYES ONLY ***

The roundabout has been under covert surveillance for over 12 months. During that time I have witnessed a number of suspicious characters attempting to dig up the concrete. BUT today, we found the secret hatch that led us through the underground tunnels to GZ. The tunnels look to be at least 2 million years old and stretched for several kilometers. The technology used for this feat is far beyond anything I have ever seen. The following field logs were filed as part of this investigation:

24-Jan-2016 - #6 (earned 'extreme bush bashing' medal)
10-Jan-2017 - #1 and #3
12-Jan-2017 - #4 and #5
18-Jun-2017 - #2 (scene compromised - replacement required)

I must have caught the Alien Commander off guard as there was only scant security present when I rushed GZ. He slipped something into his mouth when he saw me, but the intel I was able to extract prior to his demise was truly extraordinary! Here is a summary:

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX - REDACTED
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX - REDACTED
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX - REDACTED
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX - REDACTED
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX - REDACTED
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX - REDACTED
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX - REDACTED
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX - REDACTED

I trust that Sydney can sleep a little safer now that the immediate threat has been dealt with. But somehow I don't think it will be too long before a replacement commander is sent to this important outpost...

It's been 4 years since I found the first Alien Abduction cache, and I only managed to find the last clue yesterday during the 45 degree heat!
Today it was ten degrees cooler, but I still worked up quite a sweat on the journey to the new base.
I packed my utility belt with many tools that may come in handy to find this cache. The only thing I forgot to bring was my caving helmet!
But after a long walk I found an area that could most likely hide a Webguy cache. After clearing many cobwebs away I found the new base in the second place I explored. Opening the container released some bad air after being closed for so long.
After managing to extract my pen from my pocket, I etched my name in the log book and left the Alien to slumber for another two years until the next explorer finds it.
Thanks for the cache.

Oh dear, another person who does not understand what a puzzle cache is. people, this is a puzzle cache, no point or reason to visit these co-ords. READ the description.

It looks like I'm not the only one taking a while to complete this cache series.

AA #1 13/2/2011
AA #2 9/6/2013
AA #3 27/2/2010
AA #4 6/2/2013
AA #5 8/2/2013
AA #6 26/4/2013 (2013 was a good year for this series for me)

I thought it was about time to finish this one off. Realised I was missing a couple of pieces of information so I had to return to a couple of the locations. Luckily, they weren't to far from home. Calculated the final and made my way out.

Upon reaching GZ, it was soon apparent where the GZ would be located. After a bit of a search, I finally found the Commander!

Glad to have finally found this one and can close off this series. Only took 5 1/2 years (2032 days) to complete.

Thanks Webby for an excellent series and taking me to some really interesting spots. That's what this is all about.

Well, I was close to the "listed coordinates" earlier today and thought "Yeah, I remember doing Alien Abduction caches years ago and I should be able to do this one now". Hmmm, after looking at when I found them, no wonder I cannot find the hints and codes I wrote down because I found the first four in 2010. Dates I found the Alien Abduction series:
AA#1 - 24 Jan 2010
AA#2 - 24 Jan 2010
AA#3 - 24 Jan 2010 - must have had a good day.
AA#4 - 22 Dec 2010
AA#5 - 6 Sep 2014
AA#6 - 22 May 2011
I think it is time I finish what I started over 5 years ago.
Will see what I can do if I can find my notes????????
Thanks for a good series so-far Webby.

I remember the first cache I found in this series. Crash landing. I thought to myself. How will I ever find all these other caches?!?! I honestly never thought the day would come so I am elated to have found this cache.

After finding the last clue we drove to this cache. I thought to myself. I think I know a short cut. But there is an him saying "he who straightens the path does not sleep at home at night". Alas these are wise words as I found myself lost and eating fear not knowing how I was going to get anywhere. Geodad was unfazed however and ploughed on so I had no choice but to follow.

Eventually we got to GZ. But now where could the cache be? We thought we'd done the hard yards but it still took half an hour to uncover the cache with geodad exclaiming a few choice words when he finally spotted it and realized he couldn't reach it! Eventually the cache was retrieved and while I signed the log geodad happily sat on the ledge swinging his legs and shining a torch into the cache making for a very spooky lantern! Good one.

On the way out I reminisced about why I had become some fixated on this cache. Geodad loves hides like this but also loves aliens and I was determined to make the find for him. I don't know how many geoaches he has left in him. Then I got a bit teary.

Thanks for the cache and the epic journey Smile

Wow, that is freaky. No finds for more than a year, and two independent ones on the one day! I was hoping to use this find to help me on a 'long unfound' challenge cache, but I might have to go to a stop-watch to find out if it qualifies!

I'd made hard but enjoyable progress through the series. One dumb error by me slowed me down a bit (I only looked for codes in each cache, and not for all the extra info). But once that was sorted, I had to wait for an opportunity to come out west.

Walking along towards the cache, I was wondering how much of the difficulty and / or terrain Team Webguy reserved for the actual cache, and how much was a reward for finding the rest of the series .... well in the end, like a lot of logs, it is a pretty tough cache by itself!

Thanks for the series!

Damn, a major rebuild on the website that was holding the worksheet was done a while ago, uploaded to the new server and tested. Thanks for pointing that out.

It appears the worksheet link needs to be fixed: "500 - View not found [name, type, prefix]: item, pdf, k2View"
Keen to get started on this one!

Cache #1000!!!

After all the investigations and analysing the data retrieved, it has put me down to a possible location of the new alien base. I parked the car and followed to where my studies point me towards. Upon arrival to the location, I could sense a something in the air. It drew towards a location which made me feel isolated. I felt close enough to the world, however I started to feel the world wasn't close enough to me. What if something when wrong?? What if do run into some alien activity?? What If I'm unwelcome to there base?? Is this even their base???

I begun to think of the inevitable, a probing!!! No one would hear me scream here? The sounds of nature is all that could be heard. It was quite pleasant however, the sound of human life was not to be heard. Adding to that isolated feeling. I proceeded to this location to explore to undercover what may be. I reach the location to find indeed what looked to be a base of sort, well at least you could call it a base of sorts. Again, something drew me in towards the base which at this point, I was well committed to this and no chance of turning back now. And I have so far already!

I readied myself and pushed forward to see if this was in fact the alien base. Again that something in the air drew me towards a spot. This spot looked likely of a brilliant place to play hide and seek and never ever wanting to be found. The more I explored the more I felt I was on to something. I felt determined now as I felt something in the air telling me I'm close. Pushing through more to come face to face with something. Pushed a little more to realize I am looking eye to eye with the alien commander!!

It's him!! Your the alien commander!! I found you!! He stared back at me knowing that his gig was up so to speak. He knew that his secret has once again being discovered by another of these "investigators / geocachers" He kept quiet and didn't make a sound. He then presented me with something. A cache!!! It was done, the new alien base had been discovered. All of the investigations have proved a success!!

Remarkable cache hide and incredible location to end a fantastic series!!! I had a lot of fun finding the clues and investigating so to speak to narrow down the final cache. Retrieving this cache was unreal, and so rewarding. This location has been one of the best ones yet!! Very well done for the hide and very well done for the entire series. What a way to bring it to a close and what a way to bring up the Hoogies 1000 cache find!!!

Many thanks Team Webguy!!!! A favourite point without a doubt!!!!

Find #700!!
I had debated which cache to make as this milestone, but given the effort of Webby's to put out the whole series and the time it took to go get them all, I had to make this one #700.
The series in general has taken a while to collect. The ones around the lower Blue Mtns I found some time ago, and then back in April, managed to get the 2 on the south side of Sydney. Then knowing that I still needed to make a trip to Berowra before I could finish the puzzle, I made the trip in early August. Series complete I just had to make time for the final. I couldn't believe where it was when I checked the co-ordinates... I'd been very close to here on several other occasions!! That's the puzzle I guess!! Anyway, knowing that I was approaching this milestone, I delayed the search for it until I was at the magic number. Today it came up trumps!
Geowife had been looking for a bit was wasn't certain she was in the right spot before I joined her. I quickly found the spot that rang true of an extremely Alien base and also a Webby hide. A quick search in 2 spots yielded nothing so I ventured a bit further only to be denied once again. I returned to my first spot and with a little more probing (I think I was the one getting probed) I was greeted with the Alien leader! After convincing him to share his brain with me, I departed with a smile and wished them well in their new base.
Very happy to have completed the series as it took me on adventures around this city that I never thought I would visit. Fantastic effort Webby. TFTC (and series). #700 complete!

It is done! The first Easter in years that we have not been away from home, and this morning Easter Sunday I was taking my geo-daughter out for some driving practice when my geo-wife suggested that being such a nice day we all should go on a hike as well. When I asked any suggestions on a destination my geo-wife responded with where do you need to go with the most nimble member of the jkcourtz team. That quickly narrowed it down to one possible cache. Let’s go find an Alien! So it was on with the “L Plates” and off on a drive.

I have completed Sydney to Melbourne cache series quicker than this series. Our first find of the six clue caches was done on the 6th of Feb 2010 and had the final clue cache done on the 1st of Oct 2011. Now 18 months later we finally can cross this one off the list, or just over 3 years since we started our hunt for the new base.

Once at GZ it was up to the youngest member of the team to eliminate the many options of where the Alien may be hiding at The New Base. It did not take her long to scramble around and find the elusive fellow (who was not hiding in a garden or under concrete), and he did not put up any resistance. In fact he was happy to converse due to the lack of visitors he receives. We sat enjoyed the views and exchanged swaps. Keeping in the space theme we left a new set of Star War Cuff Links.

To Team Webguy this has been a great series and we have really enjoyed it. My geo-daughter particularly enjoyed this final cache and now may need to seek out further Team Webguy or Badman caches. A favourite from us, thanks. Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin.

Now that's funny, fancy placing a NA log on a Webby mystery cache. Drove by the round about today and did not get out to check for the cache.

05-Mar-12
These Webbie caches are always tough . . .

04-Mar-12
Please, before deciding a cache needs archiving, actually read the cache description. This is a "mystery cache", you need to do 6 other caches to find this cache, meaning, it is NOT at the posted co-ords, it was never in a garden, or under a concrete roundabout Wink

Enjoy chasing aliens....

03-Mar-12
GZ is now concreted over. May need archiving?

03-Mar-12
GZ no longer exists and is now concrete rather than garden? Can this be confirmed.

Well this has been a work in progress - around 12 months since I found the first in the series. Last weekend I located the final piece of the puzzle and had the coords for the final. Somehow I wasn't surprised by the location.

The walk in was a familar one, albeit a little challenging after the wet weather of the past week. Once near GZ I ascended to the obvious location, but 'oh so many hidey' holes. Where to start? I began a slow scan with torch in hand and came across some amazing spaces. This is one great location neatly tucked out of the way. After a bit of searching and maneuvering I found the body (or what is left of it).

Opened the cache and found a geocoin, which doesn't appear on the cache listing, read other people's logs, added my own and then resealed and hid the cache. Enjoyed the view one more time and then, like a cacher reborn, headed out.

A fantastic final cache in this series, which was highly memorable. A great milestone cache for The Spindoctors - 1800 finds.

round about has been cleared of all shrub, not sure if this affects the cache

Dear alien fans. It is now just over a year since this alien base was finally discovered. Rumours abound about a new alien base that has been discovered in the Blue Mountaims. Teams of experts have been dispatched to the scene.

Contact has been lost with team Alpha, Team Zeta is being prepped.....

1000 caches!!!!!

I was determined that I would find this one so I arrived and the roundabout armed with shovels, backhoes and a team of workmen! But, I still couldn't see it, despite creating a crater like a meteor strike!

Luckily bikerbuddy agreed to accompany me on my thousandth find and he soon correct my thought patterns until I began making sense of alien languages.

After a short walk out to the final site the cache was soon extracted from its orrifice the fate of the commander was determined and the cache logged.

TNLNSL. TFTC and all the other great caches. And the advice offered after my misplacement of one of the tag numbers.

After months contemplating those little green and blue icons dotted on the map of my computer screen; of looking and longing, like some child with the starry lights of Hollywood lighting the way to an uncertain future; after nights of tears and self doubt, of pouring over maps, examining Google Earth, guessing here or there; after strange dreams - haunting and teasing dreams - and sudden wakeful nights with the ceiling bearing upon me like the palimpsest of a memory, of bulbous almond eyes, serene and knowledgeable; after all this I was finally moving inexorably toward my ultimate goal - the lair of the Alien Commander with the answers to questions that will haunt humanity.

Would I be worthy?

I kissed the casing of my GPS unit and said a prayer to my geocaching God: Oh Webguy, lead me not into thorny bushes, and forgive me those things I said back when, and deliver me unto that which you hath withheld ...

The sky was blue, the trees were silent. I was racked with the uncertainty, the doubting dark night of the geocaching soul.

Would I bugger this up?

As I approached my destination, horrible apparitions appeared - was that some craft; are those hands, or claws? What barrier was this, what final challenge would I face? Then a light, a blinding, screaming light, took me up, up, oh god, up into its belly, and those eyes, no longer a haunting dream, the vain fantasy of my deranged and obsessive personality, but eyes, piercing and implacable. The horror, the horror, Oh Webguy, what have you done?

Oh the humanity!

I left that place, that place steeped with knowledge but devoid of humanity, wondering what I had seen, where I had been. Had this been today, or was it last week? When I returned, would my wife still know this empty dry-retted husk, or would time have been lost completely? Would I return to the future and the dawn of an alien race?

I returned home. Everything was as it had always been. My wife hugged me and smiled and said I had done well. My children did not complain and were happy. The WaywardWoman gave me a sandwich to eat and I sat with it trembling in my hand, staring at my computer and wondering where there were words that could say what I have seen.

Now, in the next room or the hall, they are whispering; my family.

Thankyou, Oh Webgod, for this enlightenment. But can I bear it? I fear to go to sleep tonight. I have seen too much! I have seen too much!Surprised

[A week later : Seriously, though, this was a brilliant cache, topping off a great series. I'm not sure my original log properly conveyed my appreciation. This was an adventure and well worth the effort. I hope a few others are inspired to complete this series. Thanks Webguy. I don't know how you found the time to get to all these places and explore them, prior to setting this up!] Big Grin

With the last of the precursor caches finally located this morning it was time to load all the gathered data into the HAL (not the 9000 either!). It whirred and number crunched and spat out the secret co-ordinates of the base. Oh really! There huh! Why are we not surprised. Into the shuttle and off we went thither. It was mid afternoon and quite warm by the time we commenced the final approach to the base. No information can we give on the terrain or views of course but suffice to say that when you get here you will not be disappointed with the walk or the surrounds. And certainly if you’ve been able to surmount the previous six hurdles you will have little difficulty in getting to GZ. At least if you’ve calculated correctly and chosen the optimal orbital approach. In fact we’d quickly abandoned our initial choice of route to the cache as soon as we’d realised that it was all too likely to end in tears. Lady Altaire’s choice turned out to be the correct one and after a short and easy stroll we were in a very likely looking area.

Now of course we’d read the FTF log and were quite prepared to spend as long as it took to find this thing. (Incidentally Phil – hats off to you for doing this whole series in a day or two. Now that’s impressive and my! - what determination!). Anyway, for whatever reason, on arriving at the cache locale we had a strong premonition of where it was likely to be and thus it was. About a minute after dropping our packs the Commander’s location was revealed. Great location & hide – exactly as we’ve come to expect. And a fantastic series of caches – thanks Webby for the effort you’ve put into this one. I suspect also that you’ll get a few more finds on this than the “Waterlily”. A little pocket AM/FM radio caught our eye so we picked it up, leaving a nice little pill box. Oh and an unactivated geocoin – go get.

PS: On the way home we popped a battery into the “radio” and were stunned to see a brief needle ray of light spear upwards into the sky! HAL seems to think it was a signal to something he calculated to be located in the asteroid belt. Ooops……………

Well well well those pesky aliens have kept me very busy for the past 48 hours, over 400 km's of driving all told, and some 8 km's of walking, the majority of which was bush bashing (self inflicted), I can honestly say I don't regret anything, even lying down tends to cause pain though.
GeoMel weaved her magic and the coords were soon deciphered for this mystery of mystery caches, she was even forth coming enough to join me on the final hunt, we took the little Geomutt along as an extra companion to chase off any more of those pesky little whistling flyers!

What else would we expect but a damn hard slog for the closing chapter in this epic series of caches, this final chapter is like all the other caches rolled into one big kahoona of a cache!
We rolled up to GZ and spent some time searching but eventually gave up on the spot we had chosen as GZ, we searched a little wider and the obvious spot soon came to mind, but even then the number of potential hiding spots was so great that we had to take quite some time to check them all out. You weren't kidding about the portly thing - glad I wasn't any bigger!

The cache was eventually retrieved, and I took a photo of myself at GZ as proof - unfortunately for everyone but the hider I cannot upload the photo as the man in the black van with the deeply tinted windows advised against it....
There's still more of them aliens out there I can feel it and quite frankly "I want to believe"

Fantastic work Team Webguy a standout in a lot of great caches over the years so much so I stopped everything to make this my 2000th find.
and whats more it's a First to Find!!!!!!RazzBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinWink WooHoo!!!!

Another highly recommended cache but you'll just have to do the series to understand why???

The base has been discovered, the commander was there! I am sure a log will be soon to follow once they are discharged from the Emergency Ward.

All 6 caches are now active!! Enjoy the hunt!!

23-Jan-10
OK, Alien fans, the 6 caches are all in waiting approval, they should be published real soon!! Enjoy your adventures, do not post clues to any part of this series.

17-Jan-10
2 more caches out, that's 5 all up now, 1 still to go as I changed my mind as to where I was going to put it, so won't be launched on Friday night as I was hoping, more than likely sometime Sat. Am pretty happy with the locations so far, not particularly hard, most pretty easy to get to, most have a nice view and have never had caches near them. Some may require a wriggle, others are bend over and oh, there it is.

16-Jan-10
The official Alien Abduction Worksheet has been added to the cache description, your going to need that. The first of the 6 caches are going out today, hopefully the rest tomorrow. With luck, the whole series will be live next Friday night.
