Day 15 of my fortnight+ road trip up to Brisbane and back to Blue Mountains. Will my geomobile repairs be completed today? Heading back to Brisbane via two new LGAs after an overnight stay in Toowoomba.Focusing on older caches for my Jasmer calendar. And those randomly here or there by chance. Like this No Junk Mail geocache. First one for me in Lockyer Valley Regional LGA. Met the local resident at GZ. TFTC Stickybears for my 2222th geofind.

GCLOGAN is over and it's time to head for home, but I really needed a letterbox for my personal challenge. I found 3 along a route that I was confident that could find quickly. Only one problem it was a pretty long way home. But caching is caching , right? This was one of them and it was quickly found and signed. TFTLC Stickybears Have a FP. Such a simple and highly effective cache.

The cache was a very quick find and being armed with the numbers to open the lock I was concerned when it wouldn't open. I was just about to leave defeated when the CO returned home and gave me instruction on how to open the lock. Read the description ...... when in doubt read the description. After a bit of a chat we both went on our respective ways. I have awarded this cache a favourite point.

Found with Keiko (Cam_jp). Great find. TFTC. Another favourite pointed AND, as a bonus, I picked up a TB - yay!

I love a good letter box cache, I just think they are fun for no particular reason.. Found this one with ease... Privatears navigating for the day, claimed the find (and driving straight past it until able to turn around) whilst I was reading out the cache to the 2 in the back that instantly forgot what I read!-- noted such good stealth that local utilities company alerted the home owner last month of having no water so I hope this didn't cause too much turmoil when you woke not being able to have your morning coffee!! Lesson learnt from Mr 11 on the "correct" way to shut and relock a padlock.. thanks for that!We all ended up stamped from here.. log signed and replaced. Thanks so much for this cache and the good maintenance here. What a beautiful spot.. _____________________________________________________________Out about today with Privatears + 2 with the goal of heading to Toowoomba to get some highly loved caches. Seems Miss 13 had exceptional caching abilities today as she almost automatically found so many caches today!4 of 20 today; traditionals, mailbox, multi-cache, mystery, earthcache and virtual.#873

14 July 2024 10:43amCassow11ry and myself had planned on a day out today to celebrate something important...as a last minute we had the addition of two geokids who were meant to be away, but weren't. (For some finds, it was good they weren't as Miss 13 had really sharp eagle eyes today!!) We targeted in and around Toowomba.End of copy paste:Hmm, I think an 'A' for a good quality, long lasting build! Big GrinOne child member needs to work on her lock picking skills - even with code on hand she couldn't access the mail today, luckily Cassow11ry was there to break in with ease. Unfortunately, some very old junk mail was seen here...along with a huntsman that caused almost everyone to freak out (spider has been released near the drain). A swap was swapped. And a travel chicken was left here to enjoy the countryside before it continues its journey. Thanks for a cool cache.Favourite point today Smile

Needed to get a few things done in Gatton, which left with me with some free time to cache ...Also, my Geodog Scruffy wanted to do some caching as well Thought this would be a quick one on the way, but the lock was stuck. Eventually, I 'knew' I had the right combo, and the little bugger released. All Good .. TFTC ..

We came today to join the TT Group hiking up Tabletop Mountain for an event up the top. It was the first time, and I enjoyed the views and the chats. After recovering and enjoying a lunch break, we tackled a couple of more caches up the range and then on our way home we stopped here. We found the letterbox, and had each one got two goes to get it open. Finally it worked and we signed the log.The the rideonmower stopped working, and Peter came to the fence for a chat. It was interesting, and we spend quite a while there.By the way: I got another good shot of our Mountain this morning! Thanks for the letterbox,Stickybears

After being in the house a lot, I am incredibly bored.I had a morning where I felt okay, so I went for a drive. I usually feel pretty uncomfortable completing front-yard caches, but I decided it might be a good one due to being a 1/1 (Please, have a quiet moment for my ever-declining D/T rating). Mailbox entry was challenging getting into the lock, but guess who I saw arriving through the gate. The Stickybears themselves. It was lovely to meet you. It's a shame that you no longer play the game but please know that Toowoomba Cachers will see you back with open arms Wink Thanks again Stickybears. All the best with the silly season.

Heading home from Toowoomba, and decided to drop by and grab this letterbox cache! Left some stickers, grabbed this cute rock and went on my way! TFTC!

I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count.

I started geocaching on the 1st of March and been addicted since. I just want to say thank you for being apart of my geocaching journey, and I hope you have an amazing day!

Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke für den Cache. Gracias por el caché. Bedankt voor de cache. Kiitos kätköstä. Zikomo posungira. Terima kasih untuk cache. Hvala cache. Köszönöm a cache. Nga mihi mo te keteroki. Dankie vir die kas.

The lock was trickier to open than I had expected....but we got there

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How to get all the counties, or councils, or "LGA's"?....... well, I have learned the hard way, albeit quickly, to do the "hardest" ones first!

We could have just driven from Canberra to Perth to get the amount of kilometres, but instead we thought we would push ourselves a bit harder, drive a bit further.....and do the south west corner of Queensland!!

It has to be said now....Queensland is a bloody large state. I mean ridiculously large! We drove east back to Brisbane for almost three full days! Yes, we stopped for a series of letterboxes, and all of the 'county' areas, and even a FTF, but it was ludicrous!

After our flight from Canberra, and collecting our rental, we head off west from Brisbane, on a mission to collect every LGA we could get.

Aquilus1 lost her voice after the first day, which made the rest of the trip much easier for me....I had to do all of the talking, and it helped I could argue both sides of every argument....and I always won!

Outback town hotels and pubs are so cool, and I love stopping at them. When I started caching I was wary as I only knew city pubs, which are very, very different.

I tried many a schnitty, and the odd steak, pizza or burger.... this truly was the outback pub tour of Queensland.

The Qantas museum was a special highlight, as I am a proper Qantas fanboy......I have done waaaay too many miles on the red roo!

25-Apr-23
This extended/long weekend across Anzac Day, it was an outback adventure to Charleville and Carnarvon Gorge. Departing Thursday afternoon, I stopped in Roma before continuing west through Mitchell and Morven and completing various puzzles and power trails. I then caught up with a small group to hike Carnarvon Gorge on Sunday and Monday, and then after having a final night in Roma, returned on Monday.

Today, it was time to head home from my weekend away from Roma to home. It was an opportunity to find a few remaining geocaches along the highway, and after visiting a few Chinchilla geocaches including the memorable cactoblastis monument [Mr Cole Snr, The Shanti & Prickly Pear](https://coord.info/GC8EW84), I opted to detour through Cecil Plains after going through Dalby, and then returned east via Toowoomba. Who would have thought that regular geocache stopping would add so much time to the normal 5.5 hr drive? With deteriorating weather in the late afternoon, it was time to then make the beeline home whilst getting a sneaky rain car wash along the way.

I had been wanting to visit this geocache for a long while whilst coming/going to Toowoomba, but today was my chance at making a stop! However, despite spending some time using the required code in getting into the letterbox, the cache's combination was just too sticky. I am hoping that the CO can accept my photograph log since there appeared to be a mechanical issue with gaining access. Thanks Stickybears for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

My first find in Lockyer Valley LGA. The CO came out to help me after having trouble with the lock, and after the neighbours looked at me somewhat suspiciously. Another LGA checked off. TFTC

After a lovely ramble to get the oldest cache in Queensland, catching up with a geo-friend and learning the ways of the Australian Bush, it was time to head back to Toowoomba. This sounded like an interesting cache so took a small detour. Got to GZ no problem but took me quite a while to figure out the code. In my defence, this is not a thing where I come from log signed and dropped off a TB trying to make it's way to Fiji. TFTC - FP

16-Jul-22
We visited this cache as we were departing Toowoomba heading to Esk.
After parking nearby we identified the correct letterbox and used the digits we had identified to open the lock.
Accessed the contents and added our name to the logbook.
We appreciated the school metal work project and it was good to see it being so well used.

Quick little weekend away, exploring the country side, with the ultimate goal to complete some of the Map of Australia Geo-Art on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail.

I love letterbox caches! All in good condition here Smile

All the logs are in good condition unless specified otherwise, and they were all found with ease unless specified otherwise.

Cache logs are either stamped, signed with Rogersclan13 or just RC13 for space. Thanks for the cache and thank you for breaking the drive up **Stickybears** Big Grin

I had the correct number - in fact it was lined up on the lock when I arrived - but I couldn't get the lock open. After struggling with this I rechecked the number...yes correct, and so read the instructions. Oh, it clicked what was needed, but it took a bit of force. I stamped the log with my wattle stamp, and left a pretty, sparkly pendant. Favourite point for a real letterbox. TFTC Stickybears.

Took me several attempts to pop this beast open, I knew what was needed, but I think my lack of reading the description didn't help either.

I eventually had it open and popped my name on the log. It didn't look like the CO was home today which was great because I lost count how many times I went back and forth to the car and the letterbox. Silly me!

Thanks for giving me a reason to stop by.

Watawieh from Norfolk Island South Pacific.
After getting the correct code I opened the Letterbox to find Junk Mail I grabbed a trackable to move along and left a endeavour3 pathtag.

I loved everything about this cache. Hiding in plain sight, the large size, the great letterbox stamp, the themed access code. A well deserved FP from me

Found as I meander my way from Adelaide to Cairns.

With no real travel plan and three weeks to get there before I meet up with friends, there has been plenty of opportunity for sightseeing and finding a few selected caches along the way.

Day 8 - Homeward Bound

Aquilus1, Tankengine and I drove from Bundaberg to Toowoomba today.

More counties were on the agenda to pick up with a couple of tourist spots as well. We met some more awesome people, ate some amazing foods and found a few good caches.

One highlight was that we discovered that the tree felling along some of the highway is being done for safety reasons. Statistically drivers die within the first 9m of coming off the road. So they remove the trees and you should slow down when you hit the dirt and hopefully wake up when you get to bumpy ground. You won’t stop in time to hit a tree, but the impact should lessen.

This cache: This mailbox has lasted a very long time!! Must be some great workmanship here. Very cute. Tftc Stickybears!!!

Definitely a high school project.. I made many similar projects myself, but this is very well made! Lovely area, we made the quick visit while staying in Toowoomba overnight with a bit of time before dinner.

Trip log: Day 8 of the 10 day Easter Queensland Trip with dty73 and Tankengine. As has been the way, covid threw things into doubt but we packed the car and headed off waiting to find the fate of the Dayboro Mega and if QLD would be the destination. On route to the north of NSW to stand by and wait... we got the news it was all go!

Having spent a few nights in Bundaberg under a welcomed sunny blue sky, a sure contrast to the wet days of the Mega, it was time to make our way southish. A selection of counties along the way with some sideways detours to find the ones we could get. Lots of bottle trees, prickly pear and a range of terrain but a lush green and scenic drive to Toowoomba.

So cool to have made it to the Mega now to get the caches we spent months solving and other nearby caches. On our way home now via Toowoomba.

Grey nomads travelling around Australia in our caravan. Held up a bit due to Covid19, so currently in Queensland only, but there are plenty of caches in our home state that we have not yet found. Currently, doing a lap around South East Queensland, and we are house sitting nearby, so able to enjoy the festivities of the carnival of the flowers.

We attended the Chilli, Chocolate and Cheese festival close by, and maybe indulged in a little too much wine at lunch time in the heat, cos it appears to be warming up today (change from the last few windy days)

Easy find. Got the code, signed and released a travel bug from our itinerary (my grandson!)

Thanks Stickybears for showing us your letterbox!

Chamad and I decided to head to Toowoomba from Brisbane, and pick up an assortment of caches along the way. Some caches were for the date published challenge, some for the 360 degree challenge, some for the DT matrix, some because they were oldies, and some because they are already fulfilled challenges. And some because, well, you never walk over a cache.

Somewhere in the middle of Toowoomba, my car broke down, and our plans were thrown into chaos. RACQ to the rescue, and we were back to caching, albeit an hour behind schedule. Our luck continued into the afternoon as a storm rolled over, the temperature dropped, drizzle gave way to heavy rain and wind, and our commitment to the greater cause was traded in for some warm food and the safety of the car.

Still, a fantastic day with great company, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

It was relatively easy to find this letterbox and work out how to unlock it. What a great idea and so well constructed! Fantastic work CO. Log signed and cache returned as found, and we were off for the next one.

26-Jul-20
A late night call to OBC and a plan was set to do some target caching on an assortment of caches in Toowoomba. An early morning start on a fresh, wet morning saw us leaving and heading west then a backseat surprise from mini obc was my wake up, lol. The targets were some oldies, some letterboxes, some for DT matrix, a FTF, a couple of puzzles and the odd trad as we stepped over it. It is always a fun day and an adventure when we get together and today was no different. We did have a little hiccup when we thought we were going to be stranded in Toowoomba and our caching day brought to a sudden stop. But a quick call to RACQ and a quick fix and we were soon on our way again. The list got shortened but then it got added to in other ways. A passing storm and wind gusts did see us having to abandon a few targets but we did make up for it on the way home. An awesome day with lots of laughs and some brave adventures.

This was our eighth find and I will admit I have a preference to letterbox caches, there is just something about them that makes them exciting and draws you in to want go and see what the CO has done to this one. A nice easy find with a parking spot right next to the cache and with no one around today it made for an easy get, thank you. With the assess code obtained, we were in and log signed, I did drop two TB’s in here.
With log signed and cache replaced as found we were off to the next on our list. We were making great time and it looked like we were going to nail that list.

Thank you for placing this one here for us to enjoy.

Today I had to drive from Toowoomba to a remote spot in the countryside near Somerset Dam. I did have time to stop and find a few caches along the way. Nice one! The cache was indeed easy to find but I had some brain fade issues trying to access the log. The CO must have sense my confusion as they appeared to help me out with a couple of nudges that enabled me to gain access to the interior of the cache. Whew. Very cool cache construction here. TFTC, Biggles.

Peli1406 & I had an early finish today so decided to head out and grab a couple of caches. This one has been on her radar since the first night I took her geocaching but Ive been waiting for the right time to make this find, which pretty much meant whenever i was in the area and not on a bus. It is a cool letterbox cache, and i was lucky enough to meet the CO. Lovely to meet you, and thanks for a cool cache.

Happy to have added my stamp & Peli1406's scribble to the log. All good with log book and swag.

Took: a painted rock from facebook group Harvey Bay Rocks.
Left: woolworths Disney Tile.

Trackables: Left TB8MD71 "I met signal" and took TB94EDH "Is it an Esky?".

Cache: No Junk Mail
Found on: 15 August 2019 by Runawayz & caching mate Peli1406.
Took Rock left tile. Chat with CO. Cheers.

Had been wanting to do this one so decided to call in on my way home from a mini adventure.

Thought I had the code worked out but just couldn't open it. Retreated to the car to PAF for advice when the CO appeared. Aah! A case of "when all else fails, read the instructions" and then follow them correctly!
As I usually name anything technical a "whatsidoover for a thingummybob", I had no hope here of finding a particular feature of a simple padlock. Luckily I was fortunate to have technical assistance from the CO to get the lock open once I'd pressed the correct part! Thank you Mr Stickybear! All plain sailing after that!

This little letterbox sure is a survivor as is the CO! Thank you for your help and wishing you a happy retirement.
Picked up two of the travel bugs and leaving a favourite point here.

The clue for the code eluded me for a while. My excuse is that Im sick and cant think. Dropped of a trackable the needs to get to Toowoomba. So close!

While on our way to Crows Nest to attend Rural Safari 2019, we stopped here to find this cache. Once I got the code, it was a matter of unlocking the bolt and signing the log. What an amazing letterbox.
A fav point from me.

Found with my family while on holidays.
Day 12. After leaving Redcliffe early, we passed through the city (to do the new lab caches) on our way to Toowoomba. We made a quick stop here to make a find in a new county. Love letterboxes, and this literally was. Quick find, but took a little bit to open. The lock was a bit tight and had me second guessing the correct answer, but opened the second time. Stamped my book, left a stamp and were soon climbing the huge hill.
Thanks for the break, stamp and letterbox cache!

14-Jul-19
Another letterbox where I had not read what I need to do. A quick google soon gave me what I needed. I soon added my name to the log and dropped a couple of trackeables to continue on their journeys. TFTC

EatAllThePie & I were out for a caching weekend in Toowoomba this weekend, and on the way back to the Coast I figured I’d grab just a couple more caches.
Found this one on our map just a short detour off of the Warego HWY, and considering it has quite a few FP’s I managed to convince him to do it too.
Oh, this was well done! I’d actually been wondering if there were any Letterbox caches quite like this - So I was very pleased to find this one easily.
We signed the log, stamped our book, marveled at how cool this cache was, then we continued on our way - TFTC! Well worth a FP from me!

This was find #19 of 28 on our Toowoomba Trip.

Yaaay!! I'm off on my Brisbane trip. Sad to be leaving my lady and her kids. I shall have to cheer myself up with geocaching ...

I've done some pocket queries and some research on the results. I'm trying to meet lots of targets for Professor Rapidly Wild's UGC series at home, so I'm seeking :

Two caches placed in 2000 - none found so far
One cache placed in 2001 - none found so far
119 caches of size "Regular" - Twenty-eight found counting this one
20 caches of size "Large" - One found so far
One letterbox in Qld - Two found with this one, target met
One letterbox in NSW - none found so far
Any puzzles and multicaches I can reasonably find.

I've located enough caches to find on this trip on this trip to complete all but the last target. So we'll see how I go. We're down the range now, and I decided I might as well get another "Large" sized mailbox. So we're up here, it's another combination lock, so I have to solve the puzzle. That was easy enough, so, that done, lock opened, log signed, and we're away again.

Day 1, Monday - 12 in total, including five "Regular" sized caches.
Day 2, Tuesday - 16 in total, including one "Large" and eight "Regular" sized caches
Day 3, Wednesday - 21 in total, including thirteen "Regular" sized caches and one Qld letterbox
Day 3, Thursday - 4 in total

Find no 2 of 3 today.
Thanks, Stickybears

After finding the caches at Table Top Mtn we headed out of town to find this beaut letterbox and by the time we arrived it had turned dark so we tried to be as discrete as possible with our torches. Lucky we had the right code which enabled us to have a quick find, well done CO and a favorite point from me.

Needed a cache for the day and this one was conveniently far enough to be close enough to find so to speak. After arriving at GZ I almost passed it but soon realised that was what I was looking for, a quick uturn and I was back at the hide, a quick guess on the code and I was able to sign our name, great hide and cache, very clever and in plain sight. A favourite from us! Tftc!!

Figured out the code pretty quick but the lock nearly beat me.. had to jiggle it a bit before it would let me in... TFTC

I love these kind of caches so thanks for the effort you took for it.
I dropped a Hervey Bay 4655 rock for any geokids into the craze Smile For anyone interested you can (adult) join your local painted rock groups Facebook page and see them travel. A great idea for kids caching.
Gave this a fav point because it’s cool Smile
